In town on a Saturday night. Very busy. Prices: fairly inexpensive Ordered Chilaquiles and a side of fries ( which they did not bring). Got a pitcher of margaritas. Quantity of food:great Quality 2-3/5 Taste. 2/5 beans-boring no flavor. Salsa tomato 1-2/5 brown salsa 4/5, but not very spicy (as in hot) Chilaquiles 2/5 salsa was bland. Chicken did blend with sauce. Cheese was not flavorful. Rice 3/5 Margaritas too sweet but otherwise tasted ok. Was there tequila in that pitcher? Chips were good Chile Relleno sucked. Pile of ground beef in cheese with a small green chile in it as opposed to a stuffed poblano pepper Presentation 2/5 Service was good,but our server had a difficult time understanding my English and even though I'm fluent in Spanish, he still seem to have difficulty understanding. Recommendation: if you are a Mexican food aficionado, you will be disappointed in these two dishes with sides. For those of you with less discerning palate, it will be be a decent value. I'll be honest, I'm not a fan of Mexican food. Never have been. But I tried this place out and I'm glad I did. The food is awesome. I eat the veggie burrito and it is AMAZING. Their chips and salsa are addicting. This place is worth every penny. The only complaints I have is they allow nasty smokers in the outside dining area and the place could use a little facelift. On our drive home from the beach we decided to stop at La Cabanas for dinner. We were seated and got the usual chips and salsa. Then, we waited. And waited. And waited. It seemed as if every time the waiters looked our way, they rushed right back into the kitchen or to serve another table. Since we waited so long, we decided to take our business elsewhere. I never write reviews but I feel customers should know my experience at La Cabana.It used to be my family's go to spot for Mexican Food. The food is good but the service is awful. Although the care for the customers is terrible, my friends and I kept going because we liked the food. The last time we went, there was a hair in my food. I went to complain to the owner, instead of refunding or offering to substitute my meal for another, he had the server trash my ENTIRE plate(I had only taken two bites). He then insisted that the hair came from my head(impossible because I had on a hat. All of my hair was completely covered).He then said it was my eyelash. When trying to explain to him that the hair wasn't mine, he tried to make me pay for the meal (that he had his waiter throw away).When I refused, he told me to get out of his restaurant and to never return! (And I used to be a regular customer!) While I waited outside, my best friend(it was her FIRST time eating there) got up to go to the bathroom, the bus boys completley cleaned the table and threw away her food, She had only eaten half the plate! She went to complain to the owner as well, he told her there was nothing he could do about it and that she was still responsible for her bill. Not only that, but he charged her for MY TRASHED meal as well!! My friend and I have not been back since and neither has our family or friends. After raving about how great the food was, I was embarrassed that my best friend and I had such a terrible experience her first(and last) time there. Great food, very reasonable prices, excellent service. I had the carne azada ranchera, very spicy,. Lot's of meat (enough for 2 people), maybe too salty, but a few Dos Equis for under $2 apiece takes care of all that. The salsa has a nice bite also. read more
