The salsa is just some onions and cilantro in water and when asked if there was another option we were told no by our rude server. I had a great night with my boyfriend at The Mexican Bar & Grill. It was worth the drive over from Vail. We had frozen margaritas, I had a mango and he had strawberry. We loved their queso and chips. I had a ground beef chimichanga with rice and refried beans and ate almost the entire thing. Then for dessert we had the churros and ice cream. The service was great and the area was cute and quaint. The restaurant is family owned and has a lovely unique flair. We ordered the chilaquiles and the burritos with chorizo. The chorizo is smothered with sauce but the chorizo is incredibly crispy. It's packed with hash browns and fluffy eggs. The chilaquiles was crunchy and incredibly flavorful with house made tortilla chips. Lots of huge chunks of avocados and sour cream with bits of fresh onion. The place is also now decorated adorably for Halloween. A gem of a breakfast joint! read more

If you order the guac, it's very flavorful but also know it's a small portion served in a salsa dish. Ate here for the first time on recommendation of a local and the food was very tasty. Right off, our group liked the chips and salsa. First round of house margaritas was way too sweet - so we got a second pitcher of skinny and remixed the perfect drink. Both the traditional and crispy Chile rellanos were very good and packed just the right amount of heat. Pollo asada was well grilled but still tender and moist. Enchiladas two thumbs up. The black beans and the pinto beans were very good as was the rice. One in our group had the molcahete combo for one and it was plenty for two and delicious. My son ordered two cheese quesadillas. They were $11 ea. nothing but cheese and tortilla for $11 ea. Small dish of guacamole was $7 Our total bill for the 3 of us to eat was just over $100. No alcohol beverages were ordered. I have no problem paying $100 for dinner. However I feel this was extremely over priced for mediocre food and service. The best part was the guacamole, but even that was subpar. The rice tasted like it had been prepared out of a box, and the refried beans were watery. Salsa is slightly watery and a bit on the spicy side. I ordered a premium margarita which was enjoyable. For dinner I went with my standard Carne Asada El Tampiquena. While it was tasty and prepared as requested, I have had lunch meat slices thicker then this. It could have been mistaken for carpaccio.Very disappointing to say the least. We are in search of the perfect taco. Drove bu this place and we stopped to have a try. They offer a plate of three street tacos and give a choice of different filling but you cannot mis. You have to order one meat type. This makes no sense. Nonetheless we ordered one plate with three tong tacos and three pastor. Our server dropped off a squeeze bottle; when we asked what that was she "sauce". What type of sauce; can you describe it? "Taco Sauce that is all I know" really? Did not explain if it was homemade spicy red or green. When the street tacos arrived they were terrible. The tacos lacked flavor. The meat was simply not flavorful. Of the six tacos we left 4.
