Super romantic spot with great views of the church and water! The restaurant is rather small so every table has a good view but if you want the "best" tables, those are only for parties of 2 or less. There's only 5 of those kinds of tables too so the earlier you come, the better chance. We reserved for 6:30pm and stayed til after sunset but got front row seats! Everything was really delicious. Highly recommend: Caesar salad Charcuterie board Grilled pulpo (octopus) Fettucine alfredo Chocolate lava cake The only thing I didn't really care for was the Blue Sangria. It was really tart so I couldn't finish it all and it didn't pair well with anything. Our server Gerry was super attentive and kind enough to answer our questions about the history of the restaurant and building. Turns out that it has ties to Casa Kimberly. I was going to pour myself more water from the bottle on the table and the server seemingly appeared beside me asking to pour it for me. Come on that's fantastic. Besides that they were just on top of it the whole night and kept coming to check in on us. Food was great but if you order the rack of lamb ask for it medium instead of medium rare because you run the chance of the sides being a little bit more rare but that's fine we didn't mind just a note for other guests. For Italian food in Mexico it was well executed. The appetizers such as the tomato soup with shrimp was great. The tuna tartare was very flavorful and fresh. Mains were fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp (which are definitely prawns) was great for the price definitely delicious. Rack of lamb seasoned good and bed of mashed potatoes good also. No room for dessert but man I wish we did. Two appetizers, two mains, a cocktail, glass of wine, and bottle of water for JUST 200 USD. I've been to plenty of fine dining restaurants where what we got here would be north of $400+ easy and the service wouldn't be matched. Tip them well. They earned it. I ordered a guava martini, which was well-crafted, though it could have benefited from being slightly more chilled. For my entrée, I had the shrimp fettuccine Alfredo. The dish featured impressively large shrimp that were both flavorful and satisfying, complemented by a rich and indulgent sauce. The service was very attentive and pleasant. Came here while my fam and I were on vacation. The view is out of this world! The service is a close second. Started with the caprese salad and it was the best I've ever tried! But other than that the food rating for me would be a 3.5 the 4 is for overall experience. Service and view. I ordered the ribeye medium rare and it was spot on but the small baked potato that came with was way over cooked and chewy and the vegetables were too salty. My Kiddo got the shrimp scampi, the shrimp were large but the all around flavor was really tangy? Almost like they unloaded two lemons in there. A bit much. Hubs got the octopus which he's basically has gotten at every restaurant in town during our 10 days here. It wasn't up to parr with some of the other establishments but this is why the 4 stars specifically, my hubs bit down on something hard and it's bc they didn't remove the beak of the octopus!?! For such an upscale place I was shocked... all our experience with octopus here we never encountered that until we ate here. And they put the octopus upside down so he couldn't even see it. In all of the reviews and first hand recommendations I have heard, it was important that I take in this restaurant to temper the hype with the reality. After taking the winding streets up to the restaurant, we arrived at the unassuming entrance and as we walked through the vestibule to get to the restaurant, we were immediately greeted with the money shot. We took a few pictures and the the crowned steeple of the Our Lady of Guadalupe Church is so close you can "touch" it. The chapel style and fresco on the ceiling is a wonderful image to take back home with you. Once we settled in, I believe that this restaurant is a victim of his awe-inspiring view and breathtaking vista up and down the coast of the Banderas Bay. The truth is that I believe this restaurant relies heavily on the interiors and view and suffers a bit from this visual superiority. My friends and I ordered our beverages and that started our continued "search" for our server to 1) take our orders and then 2) to get him to refill said drinks and to check in with us thereafter. I ended up ordering a soup and salad: CREMA DI POMODORO E GAMBERETTI and INSALATA CAPPELLA with shrimp. For the price, the salad could have actually been a dinner-sized salad and more than three shrimp. The Pomodoro soup was very tasty, especially due to the Grappa liqueur. Although I am a carb-conscious consumer and I did not taste the pasta myself, my friend noted that the sauce was super rich and he wishes that it had been a been a bit thinner (liquidy) and less heavy on the cheese additive. Once done with dinner, the staff served my friend a birthday surprise and gave him a slice of cake with candle, as I noted this on the reservation. We were here for a wedding at an all inclusive resort and decided to get away for one of our dinners. The view and service is what you come here for. While the food was much better than what we were having at the resort, I wouldn't consider it exceptionally great Italian food. Definitely above average, but not enough to warrant a 5 star review. Hands down the most romantic restaurant I have ever been to! There was something magical about this place! So much so that I cried! The sunset was breathtaking! The view was as if I was sitting somewhere on the Amalfi coast. Just when I thought nothing could beat the live violinist and sunset, at nite the fireworks came on and I wanted to cry again as I couldn't believe how lucky I was to have been there to witness the most perfect sunset and nite! The ambience and view is unreal. It's in an old chapel, and the wood touches and paintings are beautiful. It overlooks the church downtown and all of the coast. The staff was so friendly and attentive. The meal started with complimentary bread and you could order salad/soup to start. The entrees were good as well. My fish was a tad dry and my husband said his bolognese lacked a little flavor, but overall we were very pleased. The two violinists were an amazing touch. It was such a romantic and relaxing evening. I will mention that it's is a bit hot with the sun setting, however they have fans and awnings. We booked this restaurant to have dinner to celebrate our daughter's 15th birthday and it did not disappoint. I wish I had taken more pictures, but I was definitely too busy enjoying the experience. Our reservation time allowed us to catch the breathtaking sunset, with live violin music playing in the background. The food was delicious! I devoured the cesar salad and the sauce for the mussels was just on another level. My husband used the bread to soak up every last drop. I didn't even get pictures of the pasta dishes because I was so excited to eat. Everything was executed well. The service was outstanding. As much as I want to keep giving this place 5 stars, I can't. It's in dire need of a new chef, and every visitor is just avoiding saying it because the rest of the experience is so great. Amazing service, amazing views, amazing ambiance, amazing music and violin players, amazing wine, amazing menu. Mediocre food. I guarantee if you take out all the other amazing factors, more people would comment on how "just ok" the food is. I had a $60 lobster that was nowhere as food as the $40 one I had back in the USA. It was huge, but it was overcooked and not juicy and not very flavorful. The pasta and chicken was some of the blandest we've ever had, too. Great ideas behind the menu, just not great execution. 5 Stairs is not enough for this place. This is place deserves 5 Diamonds/Michelin Stars! I truly Loved this place when we were visiting in Puerto Vallarta. To start out, they had parking which is difficult with how tight the streets are. Security greeted us and showed us where to park and watches over the vehicles. This is so nice because safety in another country is always a weight off the shoulders. The place is beautiful. It must be historic but I cant remember exactly if someone had told us that it is. When you walk in, it really feels like youre in Europe/Italy. The statues, the art and the décor. The best part though was taking that left turn and seeing the incredible view of the ocean. We got very lucky and had came at the perfect time. We got the witness probably the most beautiful sunset and at night, a firework show! The best part is still yet to come: the food. This is where I am so amazed at the quality and that I cant believe that I would have better Italian food deep all the way in Mexico! It seems like the chef has spent a great amount of time working on this craft or lived in Italy because it was truly the best Italian food. I have ever had. Penne was a little heavy on the limon. The lasagne was the top out of the three entrees. Carpaccio appetizer was excellent. Dessert menu this evening favored chocolate items. I had been hoping for a panna cotta, but no luck. The most romantic and enchanting restaurant in Puerto Vallarta! Reservations are highly recommended - I dined here in July '22. We requested a table that overlooks the city and ocean. It is a first-come, first-served situation and we luckily secured one of their best tables. Perched on a hilltop, the journey to La Cappella is a windy and steep drive. The elevated position provides a straight-on view of Puerto Vallarta's famous church, Our Lady of Guadalupe. During our dinner, it was cloudy with intermittent light rain. While some might be bothered by this, I enjoyed it because I felt that it added to the ambiance. Once we took our seats, we were kindly greeted by Sergio. He promptly gave us our menus. We started off with a complimentary bread basket served with butter, olive oil, and balsamic vinegar. Soon after, I ordered a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Next, we shared a cheese board. It had a nice variety of cheeses, walnuts, pesto, jam, garlic bread, and pickled vegetables. I also ordered the Burrata salad. It's a large ball of fresh mozzarella with a creamy, ricotta-like interior that oozes when you slice through it. It includes lettuce, arugula, and 2 sauces: tomato and pesto. I chose the octopus for my entrée. It was good, but I was already full, so I only had a few bites. To end our meal, we shared the chocolate lava cake. It was divine! During our dinner, the three violinists emerged through the entrance doors and began their performance. They were outstanding! All things considered; this was a 5-star experience. We overheard some guests complaining about the prices, but I think that their pricing is fair - it is comparable to what you'd spend at a fine-dining Italian restaurant in the United States. Hands down one of the best dinners / restaurant experiences I've ever had. Made a reservation for 8 of us a week and a half in advance and there was already limited time slots. So I highly suggest reserving at least 2 weeks. Once we entered the restaurant we were guided by our host and everyone in our party was in shock by the beauty of this restaurant. The view can't really be matched by any other restaurant. I started off with one of their signature cocktail the guavatini which is a a tequila based martini with fresh guava juice. It was extreme refreshing and not too sweet. We started off with some salads and the burrata was perfect. As for my main dish I ordered a Ribeye (medium rare). My ribeye came out perfectly cooked and the flavor was definitely on point. Once we finished our entrees their violists came out for some entertainment and were so good I saw people crying. This was truly a dinner to remember and it completely lived up to the hype. Our server was extremely attentive, and full of good menu suggestions. I have been to La Cappella many times. It cannot be beat for the amazing view, beautiful dining room, and roving violinists which all make for an amazing ambiance. However, my last visit was underwhelming as far as the food. We ordered a cheese platter for the table which had cheese and fruit. It was very difficult to share this there wasn't any way to divide up the different items without everyone using their own fork and knife. Weird. When the entrees came they had forgotten one pasta dish and brought some salmon for the vegetarian at the table ....LOL. The other entrees were served, pork osso bocco, and lasagna. After a bit the pasta showed up for the vegetarian. I guess they tried to rush the pasta because it wasn't al dente but just half way hard. I've had the pork osso bucco before and it was ok, but my friend who had the lasagna was also underwhelmed. It wasn't bad, just mediocre as far as forward flavorings and seasonings. It's was kind of a shame the food and service did not match what is a an amazing venue. read more
