Wow wow WOW! Blown away by this restaurant YET AGAIN. If I'm ever on death row, my last meal request would definitely be from La Caravana. Today, I ordered mini pupusas and a shrimp salad and everything was so fresh, delicious and cooked to absolute perfection. Cannot recommend this restaurant enough!

My family has been going here for almost 20 years, just for the delicious pupusas (revueltas specifically) and the ensalada drink. I recommend eating here. I'm sure the other stuff is good, my family's enjoys the other food but the pupusas, that's the star. Try it, you will like them :)

My server brought me some salsa and cabbage without me asking. She was great.

I was craving some pupusas this morning. I read all the good reviews of La Caravana so I decided to hop in my vehicle and give them a try. I arrived about 10:30 am. The place was nice and clean and not too busy. I sat in a booth and a server came over and brought me a menu. She did not speak english but I managed. Looking over the menu I knew right away what I wanted. I ordered the 10 mini pupuasa platter for $24.95. I order bean and cheese, jalapeño and cheese, pepperoni and cheese, spinach and cheese, and chicken and cheese. My order took about 20 minutes and it was well worth the wait. The platter came with a spicy cabbage salad and a salsa. I was only able to eat 5 and then I was stuffed. The ones I tried were the bean & cheese, jalapeño & cheese, chicken & cheese. Everything was delicious. The beans were amazing. The cabbage had a nice heat kick. The salsa was very mild but good. I asked the server for a to-go box. She was nice enough to bring me a container of cabbage and salsa. For $26.95 they had a platter with steak and shrimp pupusas. I'll order this next. I was very happy with my first visit. I would also like to try their breakfast items.

Tamal de elote is very tiny just keep that in mind for $3.50 And it tasted bitter I had to throw it away.

I purchased a carne asada plate but there's is two one is called carne asada (Grilled Top Sirloin Steak ) for $20.95 and the other one is Plato #1 Carne Asada con casamiento, queso, crema, ensalada, aguacate y 2 tortillas hechas a mano Top Sirloin Steak with casamiento, cheese, sour cream, salad, avocado and 2 tortillas for $18.95. I didn't see the carne asada plate only so I thought there was only one carne asada plate which is Plato #1 as I arrived home I saw that I was missing the stuff I wanted. In my plate there was only steak rice and beans I called to ask if I can go back and if they could adjust the plate to what I really wanted which is the same things just some missing stuff and they said they can't adjust it. I paid more for less. they didn't have courtesy of adjusting my plate and just add the missing stuff since I already payed more I don't see what the problem was. I was not returning the plate I just wanted the missing food but they said they can't adjust it. When you order carne asada plate make sure is the correct one. The food tastes good but the service was not good this time.

    Revueltas pupusas and Jamaica

My friend wanted me to try Salvadoran food and we found this place through Yelp. I parked elsewhere and walked over. I didn't know what to expect but once I walked in, the ambience of this restaurant is unique and I love their booth seating. The vibe is there and I can see local customers coming in, especially to pick up to go orders. I got (2) revueltas pupusas (pork, cheese and beans). I really like curtido on top of the pupusas. It goes really well together. The sauce they gave you is mild. I really like the cheese on the corners of pupusas. Two pieces were enough because they are pretty thick. I just kept eating and didn't even talk to my friend. It's that delicious! Also ordered horchata and jamaica. The service is slow because there's only two waitresses. They made pupusas fresh at the restaurant so expect a wait after you placed the order. The only thing I didn't like from this experience is that at night, the location isn't as safe. There were groups of people hanging out soliciting and I was running away from a suspicious man trying to approach me after I left the restaurant. After this experience, I'd only stop by during the day time.

The doorknob is a fake and the lock was broken.

Got locked in the bathroom here, and the staff's response? Blame me and my friends, then refuse to help. They said they didn't have any keys to the bathroom and when my boyfriend tried getting me out they accused us destroying their property. We literally had to call the fire department to break down the door because the employees couldn't be bothered. If you're looking for a place where customer safety is ignored and basic decency doesn't exist, Caravana in Pasadena is it. Me quedé atrapado en el baño aquí, ¿y la respuesta del personal? Culparme a mí y a mis amigos, y negarse a ayudar. Tuvimos que llamar a los bomberos para que tiraran la puerta porque a los empleados no les importó. Si buscas un lugar donde ignoren la seguridad de los clientes y no exista la decencia básica, Caravana en Pasadena es el indicado.

    revuelta pupusas

I've been here multiple times, and the revuelta pupusas are consistently perfect. Best energy inside too I always feel so comfortable and cozy here

Both handles/locks that are broken. Unbelievable. Never going back.

The pupusas (savory filled corn cakes) here are expertly shaped (no cracks) and beautiful. The ratio of filling is very cheese heavy which kinda mutes out the other flavors in the filling in my opinion, but they are still very good. Ask for extra curtido (pickled cabbage slaw) and tomato salsa; it cuts out the richness of the pupusas. Pupusas do take time to assemble and cook as they are made to order, so either call ahead like the locals do or be prepared to wait. If you wish to dine-in, there are a few tables inside. We started with the ensalada, which was refreshing and had just the right amount of sweetness. For pupusas, we ordered the revueltas, loroco con queso, and frijol con queso. We tried both corn and rice dough, and honestly, both were delicious. My personal favorite was the frijol con queso with the rice dough- so flavorful and perfectly cooked. The yuca frita was exactly how it should be: crispy on the outside, soft and fluffy on the inside. The chicharrón was cooked perfectly as well, and the homemade green salsa that the sweet lady helping us made was the perfect addition. She was so kind, welcoming, and always had a friendly smile, which made the experience even better. Another thing that really stood out was how clean the restaurant is. It's spacious, with plenty of seating whether you're coming with a large group, your family, or just stopping by for a meal on your own. We absolutely loved this place and will definitely be back. Next time we're bringing my Salvadoran in-laws- I have a feeling this place will get their authenticity approval too! Spanish!
