I recently visited Vero's Mexican Restaurant on Orange Grove in Pasadena with my husband and a friend while looking for a great breakfast/brunch spot. I hadn't been here in about 10 years (back when I lived in Pasadena), so I was excited to come back and it did not disappoint. We started with their homemade chips and salsa, and they were absolutely amazing fresh, flavorful, and the perfect way to begin our meal. I ordered the chilaquiles with meat, and they were so delicious, full of flavor, and perfectly prepared. My husband and friend both got the carne asada burrito, and they couldn't stop talking about how good it was. I also tried their "Vampiro" drink, made fresh with orange juice, beets, and carrots it was refreshing, unique, and so good. The customer service is truly top-notch everyone was incredibly welcoming, kind, and attentive. The place is spotless and beautifully decorated with a warm, traditional Mexican feel that makes it feel so homey. Highly recommend this spot if you're looking for authentic, delicious food and a great atmosphere. We'll definitely be back! read more

First time here. I ordered the menudo and cheese enchiladas. The food was slightly bland. Staff was very friendly and I loved that. What I didn't like, was that when I asked for onion, cilantro and lemon, the young lady used her unwashed hands to scoop it up for me. The problem is that she was working the register and handling dirty money. I couldn't eat it. I would love to try more menu items in order to give this establishment a fair shot. They have daily specials, and on Thursdays, they offer sopes for only $1.25 each. The sopes are tiny but delicious! Very filling. I also ordered the small Bionico, which was $5, but I was charged for a medium Bionico at $8.50. I brought this up to the waitress, and she said they haven't changed the menu. That's a bit misleading. She should have told me before I placed the order. Overall, the service was good. They frequently came to the table. This was my first visit and I will be back next time I'm in the area. I had huevos con chorizo which also included beans w cheese, rice, corn or flour tortillas, chips and salsa. Everything was made to order, fresh and tasty. Excellent cup of coffee w numerous refills. Nice portions. I had leftovers. Service was perfect. Server answered my questions, was friendly and patient with my limited Spanish. My table was clean and roomy. The dining room is not huge but that's my preference so I was happy. Growing up as the daughter of a Mexican immigrant father and a Colombian immigrant step-mother, homemade Hispanic meals were a staple in our house. The first time I had Vero's, I felt like I was sitting with my mom and dad again. I felt like I was visiting one of my many tias and eating the beans they lovingly prepared because they knew it was my favorite. As a vegetarian now, many of my favorite meals are not available to me but tacos y papa has always been the thing that I look for immediately on a menu. Many places have disappointed me but not Vero's. The potatoes are soft, the cheese is melty, and the taco shells are crunchy. Such a small, cute, Mexican place in Orange Grove. Always pass by, but decided to try it since my fiancé is craving menudo. I got the Carne Asada plate and it's huge and I can barely finish it. I order mine without meat & they're still so satisfying & tasty bc they put cheese, crema, guac, salsa y frijoles (beans). Mmmm so good! And if you want to give them a try first I recommend going on a Thursday as they have $1 sopes on that day. But even when they're not on special, they're about $2, not pricey IMO. Happy to discover this local Mexican gem. I've been going to taco trucks around L.A., but the convenience of this restaurant with fair pricing for street style tacos is great! The flavors are tasty and juicy but not overwhelmingly salty. The green sauce was good, but the red sauce tasted a little off to me... Customer service is friendly and relaxed. There is cozy seating inside, but I got my tacos de lengua, tripa, and al pastor for takeout.
