    Awful salad

0 stars wasn't an option but should be. Ordered Mexican guacamole. It came out and was brown from either sitting in fridge since yesterday or using old avocados. Margaritas were made with mix u could buy at grocery store. Ordered a bottle beer which was totally flat. Dunno how that's even possible. My wife's salad came out covered in raw broccoli, onions and cauliflower. Pretty sure it was supposed to be sauteeed. They were supposedly out of ranch so gave her thousand island and laid the dressing packets on her salad. We were expecting a normal Mexican rest experience and got food that shouldn't be fed to a dog. Completely terrible. Don't go!!!!

La Carreta may certainly satisfy your Mexican hankerings, but the food and drinks aren't really anything to write home about. I tried one of their combination dinners, which was tasty enough. But, frankly, everything on the plate tasted the same. Moreover ,the entrée came out really quickly after I ordered, which was a little suspicious to me... especially because my order wasn't hot enough when it arrived at my table. I was in a hurry, nevertheless, so I just went with it. Drink-wise, I only tried a skinny margarita, but it was likely one of the worst margaritas I've ever tasted. It just tasted really artificial. I'm not sure if it was the mix they used or what, but I would definitely avoid asking for a skinny margarita in this place. Another disappointing thing about La Carreta is that it is super bright inside. The bright lights just make the place seem more like dining in a warehouse and less like dining in an inviting space. As for service, the staff at La Carreta was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Nevertheless, good service wasn't quite enough to flip this experience. Bottom line = If you're desperate for Mexican food, hit this place up. If you have the time to search around for alternatives, do that instead.

Pepper so hard and dry couldn't cut it. So tough wouldn't even bend with my fork stabbed in it Stiff as a board.

I should have paid attention to the bad reviews! Asked what a Virgin Margareta cost. Waiter said he didn't know. Figured he'd find out and tell me later (he didn't). Ordered a vegetarian combo plate with chili releno. Took quite awhile to get the food. There was only a couple of small chili pieces I could find mixed with ground beef. Asked waiter where the chili was and said I couldn't eat beef. He said they don't do the full chili relano and made a comment about the chef making his life harder. He said he'd get me a different breaded pepper. The picture speaks volumes about the quality of the food... Complained again to the waiter and he said his hands were tied. Also Complained at the cashier about the plywood pepper and they just looked at me like I was nuts. I was hoping they'd at least offer me a discount (they didn't). I didn't want to make a scene so just left (still hungry) and will never go back.

Waiting for our movie to start decided to stop in for some quick grub. Was greeted and seated as soon as we walked through the door. Server was very friendly and helpful. Thumbs up for service. My main stop here was for a 32oz mug of ice cold beer. The food just happened to be ordered because everything on the menu looked good and we didn't want to take a whole table just to have a couple drinks. Got a variety of things to nibble on and it's typically Mexican restaurant fare. Nothing stood out. Not to say it wasn't good, it was... just absolutely nothing about their dishes made it unique to them. As for hot sauce and was hoping they'd have some home made sauces but no. Their flan dessert was very good. I would also like to state that their food prices are very good. Portions are very generous. And food came out quickly. I understand lots of the menu items are not cooked to order, but still... for those looking to get full cheaply, you really can't beat this.

A review that a customer left with the response of the owner.

This location is NOT up to par. Every La Carreta we have ever been to has been absolutely amazing except for this one. The food seems reheated, not fresh, and the servers and management are very rude and not willing to accommodate for any mistakes they make on their end. They are privately owned so they insinuated that they didn't have to answer to anyone. Also the owner was very rude to a customer that left a bad review. Basically if you leave a bad review then they will do what they can to make you look like a liar or a bad person. This is a horrible business and wish it would have been like every other La Carreta that knows how to run a restaurant.

This was a new dish on the menu - Burrito Verde.

My husband ordered five enchiladas each with a different stuffing. While delicious, unless you haven't eaten since last Thursday, who can consume so many enchiladas?! I shouldn't talk. The house special quesadilla -- always excellent -- is a lot of food. Ever resourceful, I took half back, put the chicken and peppers on a bagel and ate it for breakfast! (Note to self AND my husband: next time let's split one and maybe forego the steak and chicken. Chorizo and shrimp?!) Moving on, the salsa bar is great with smooth, chunky, mild and spicy salsas. That's not counting the warm bean spread brought to the table with their thin and crisp chips. Our margaritas -- $6 each -- are not only good but pretty, topped with berries and a flower. Here it is, Monday night -- not a typical going-out day of the week -- and the place is busy with locals. Pretty good testimony to what's become one of my favorite Mexican restaurants.

When my meal arrived I tried a scallop and it was awful. Cut another one in half and tried it...still terrible. Ate a few of the fried shrimp which were lukewarm warm at best and decided...wow, this meal sucks. The potato was fair. A server came and asked if I was done and I said yes...it wasn't very good at all and he could certainly see that I didn't even eat a 1/4 of my food. When my partner was done with his meal, which he enjoyed, the female bartender took his plate away and I said his meal was good, mine was awful. Both of the workers that I spoke with about my meal couldn't care less. I suppose it was my fault for not asking for a manager, but as someone who has worked in restaurants, one of the employees should have done something...anything to show they cared and tried to make things right. Left a $7 tip on a $70 bill (which was generous, considering my bad meal) This place has been hit or miss and this night was a huge MISS. Definitely won't ever come back to this location. We will drive the extra 20 minutes and go to the Abingdon location. Never had a bad meal there and the service has always been top notch.

Hearty, authentic Mexican food which came out in the span of a few minutes. I just pointed at something on the vegetarian menu and was very pleased with what I got. The portions are quite large, too. Get an order of the table side guacamole if you want to complete the holy trinity of salsa and pico de gallo with your chips. Doesn't take a rocket scientist... she kept saying cheese sauce I said No, we want cheese, literal cheese, not any sauce anything. I also ordered shrimp fajitas and steak nachos with just steak and cheese, and the burrito above. The chicken in the burrito was kind of dry, like they possibly boiled it then shredded it. Her food wasn't very flavorful. My bf said that his nachos were tasty but needed more cheese sauce. My plate wasn't flavorful at all. Now I'm in a new state with a Moe's so I was looking forward to eating at a once favorite place. Not this time. The attached picture is their version of a chicken bowl. And this was after asking for a little more rice!! I was afraid to ask for more chicken because I didn't want to have an extra meat charge added to the already expensive total. When did they raise their prices so high? For one veggie burrito, one chicken bowl, a small container of queso, and one small drink, I paid over $23.00. The burrito was black bean, rice and cheese only. You can see that the food temperature wasn't hot enough to melt the cheese. I was going to ask for lettuce until I saw that the lettuce had way too many brown pieces in it. There was no ice in the drink machine. I got ice from the tea machine. When I asked how to scan the app QR code, the female employee at the register told me I needed to scan my receipt to earn points. She accepted my money and then said she had to go to the bathroom so she called another employee to the register. I'm assuming it was an emergency. No receipt was given and the employee had already completed the transaction. So no rewards or points for this visit. Really doesn't matter that much because I'm not thinking I will be trying it again in the near future. I mentioned twice in front of their employees that this wasn't enough food in the bowl. Not a single one offered to add anything to it. When did they stop saying welcome to Moe's? That doesn't affect my review I just thought it is sad how the customer service had declined. The restaurant was clean but that's the only positive thing I can say about this experience.
