We had come to Bristol for an event that was just blah so we needed Mexican to feel better! I plugged Mexican into the Yelp app and this was on our way back to the interstate. It was a little confusing to find but we finally made it. It was typical Mexican in food and decor. There was a lot of business but we were still seated right away. We were then promptly served with some great salsa that had a bite to it that we weren't expecting. We ordered and our food was delivered quickly. So-so food. Chips and salsa are ok. Rest of the food is just like grocery store Mexican. Boring enchilada sauce, fried ground beef without seasoning and a ton of shredded lettuce. Servers vary in quality. Apparently the four person bar seating is only if you are on the wait list. They usually only have a wait on Sunday after church. Save your money and head to Roanoke or Knoxville. Or swing through Kroger and make your own boring enchilada and tacos. read more

Aweful! Nothing authentic....i ordered a chii relleno...was some slop on a plate..watered down beans w a tinsie piece of pepper w cheese. A traditional chili relleno is a large pepper stuffed w cheese then dropped in an egg batter..fried and topped with a red sauce. Taco salad...more watered down beans...some sort of meat that was supposed to be ground beef that smelled and looked like canned dog food..topped w lettuce..sour cream and cheese..it was disgusting...my husband ordered carnitas...the pork had a fishy taste...the food was so bad i could not eat any of it. If this place made more of an effort to make authentic..traditional..quality mexican dishes ..instead of serving basically slop...they would do well in the location. I don't know why there are all of these horrible reviews on here. This is one of my favorite restaurants and we stop here every year on our way home. They are quick and prompt with serving and making sure you get everything that you need. They are kind and attentive to detail (I have .a dairy allergy so things take longer to cook). Just OK. For the location and size of the restaurant it should have been a lot better!! We were driving through on I-81 and stopped for lunch. The salsa that came with the nachos was just the ordinary, thin, runny stuff out of a jar. My lunch fajita plate was good and hubby said his chimichanga was good too, but nothing fantastic. We are originally from California, so are very often disappointed with the Mexican food here in the east. I can often make better at home myself, but that's not an option when traveling. read more

The food was good and the wait staff great. However, they don't honor the BOGO offer. They said that the cards were printed incorrectly. However, we told our server that we had these cards, but no effort on his part to tell us. The manager was not going to give in. There was this iddy bitty piece of paper at the cashier, but who sees that when you walk into the restaurant. Also, the glasses that they served their beverages we're dirty on the rim. We used napkins to wipe off the black gunk. It was gross. We told the manager and she said that had we told here she would have given us a styrofoam cups. Really!!! No sorry? I've been to many different places when it comes to authentic Mexican foods and this place is OK being this is one of the only places that have a chain of places with the same supplier for the produce and meets. We asked for a table and chairs instead of a booth, and had to wait for a table despite there being multiple open tables. I ordered the el patron which is supposed to come with 2 chicken breasts, guacamole, sour cream, lettuce and tomato. What I got was one butterflied chicken breast and I had to wait 10 or 15 minutes before I could get the waitress's attention and ask for my guacamole, sour cream lettuce and tomato. When I asked about the chicken they tried to tell me that my one piece of chicken was acctually two. Also the tortillas that came with my meal were dried out and hard. If I could leave a zero here I would. On Saturday, July 21, around 8pm, after some shopping, we stopped in here for some mexican food. First, it took at least 15 minutes to get waited on, but we honestly never thought much of that. There appeared to be plenty of wait staff walking around. After being seated, there was a group of five adults that came in to obviously drink. They apparently had started somewhere else because they were "yelling", and I do mean yelling out and laughing hysterically as soon as they got more beer and liquor. I had a sixteen year old and twelve year old with me. They continued to yell out all through our meal and several patrons of the restaurant were looking at them....but your staff kept bringing them drinks. I only hope that your staff realizes you are liable for drunk driving and I hope nobody was hurt as these morons left there. I finally asked for my check but the waiter never came, I asked another waiter and he went and told the guy we wanted our check...still no check. I finally just got up and went to the front register and I told him I wanted my check and that he was lucky I wasn't calling the police. I get you want to sell margaritas and beer, but if you want to be a full service bar and nightclub you need to change your sign and venue. I will never go to one of your restaurants again...totally unacceptable and reckless. I still am considering making a complaint with the Bristol Tennessee police department. read more

I have no idea what the folks below me are talking about. Sorry for them that they had a bad experience. My experience was excellent. We were seated right when we came in the door. The server was polite and got our drinks out right away. I drank a Mexican beer and my boyfriend drank a domestic beer. Which they do have. Chip and salsa were delicious. Not too spicey. Normally I don't like hot spicey salsa anyhow. It was perfect for me. We had the fajitas. They came out sizzling! I ask for corn totilla, which they remembered to bring. That was nice because at other restaurants I usually have to remind them by then my food is usually cold. Food was great. I eat at a lot of Mexican restaurant and this one is one of the better ones. I went here with my younger sister and younger cousin. We were very hungry that day after having a full schedule. When we walked in, there were only a few other families in there. The hostess along with a few waitresses saw us come in and then continued to chat amongst themselves for about 15 minutes. My sister was really craving Mexican food so I waited as long as I could before getting fed up and turning to leave out the door. As we were leaving, the hostess finally stopped us and asked if we wanted a table. My sister still said yes though by this point I was angry. I have eaten at several La Carreta's. This was the worst food I have ever eaten. We had to wait to be seated which was fine but once we were seated it took the waiter forever to take our drink order and even longer to get it back to us. We had also put in a order for white cheese dip and guacamole. When he finally brought it we had no chips. We watched our cheese dip go cold. We finally got chips. The food was terrible. We could not even eat it. The waiter was rude, impatient and very, very slow. When he brought us our check he magically found a personality. (looking for a tip). We paid almost $40.00 for two people. If you are thinking about stopping and eating at this place. I suggest you run in the other direction. They need someone to take over this place and show them how to run a business. read more

Ate here when it first opened. The food was good. Nothing really special about it. It wasn't as busy as I expected for being brand new to the pinnacle but I liked not having to wait anyway. There was a stream of teeny tiny ants along the wall at the the corner of our booth. But hey, those are hard to get rid of. Anyway, I gave it another shot later on, hoping there might be some decor or something to make the place a bit more festive. Nope. Business had definitely picked up tho. I like that it's all booths because I always want a booth, but I didnt like how it seems cramped and dull. By dull I mean, gray and white. The only colors I can remember seeing. There's no bar (sad face). Service isn't terrible. But I feel like I'm sitting in a school cafeteria. Nothing to make me want to return. Especially when there's Moe's right down the street. Our server was terrible, barely gave refills on drinks and chips. We asked for extra plates and napkins which we never got. Several things we ordered never showed up and when we inquired about them the server offered to get them, but still never brought the food. We will not be returning. After a long day of work at the hospital, my handsome boyfriend and I decided to spend some time at the pinnacle. It's birthday season for my family so I needed to get a few gifts. After shopping and getting what we needed, we were excited to try out the new Mexican restaurant in town, Mexican food is my favorite. Upon arrival, we were treated by a lovely host with a smile on her face. She seemed extremely happy for it being near the end of the night. She begins to seat is when another waitress, or waiter I couldn't tell, came up and said we are are closed. We looked at the scheduled hours and it was 9 pm when we arrived, they closed at 10pm. Then we were asked to leave and we gladly obligated. The reasoning they were " closed " was because the were " slow ". Very rude manager. I was visiting family and we went there to eat. I called ahead to see if their rice contained chicken broth-they said yes and if their beans contained lard-they said no. When I got there and looked at the vegetarian options every dish was served with rice. That was confusing. I talked to the manager to make sure. She told me that the rice does contain chicken bouillon. I politely let her know that anything with chicken broth, beef broth, etc isn't vegetarian. She told me that I would have to find something without rice and that she had no control over the menu. I told her that I was just letting her know so maybe she could talk to someone about it to have it fixed. She rolled her eyes at me and said ok. Then, they charged me $2 extra for replacing the meat with vegetables. They also messed up my order by putting cheese on it and the enchilada sauce (that also contains chicken bouillon). This is not a vegetarian friendly place they don't even know what vegetarian means. They claim to have vegetarian options, but it's all cooked in dead chicken carcass broth. I was trying to help by letting them know that's not vegetarian and she didnt care. Didn't even say "oh no. I'll let someone know." Not a thank you or anything. Just an angry look and rude additude. read more
