I was excited to try this place after reading the reviews and have to say that I am disappointed. We ordered tacos dorado, a mulita with carne asada and asada fries. The man inside the truck said potato or pollo for the tacos and I ordered chicken. The cost was over 41$. Not cheap, so I guess I was expecting a lot. We waited for the food to be ready. Probably 15 minutes, which is understandable. They make the food to order. During the wait, I was asked if I wanted hot sauce. I asked to try a few options as it was my first time eating here, so I didn't know what my favorite would be. They said fine and I continued to wait. After a little while, I received the food and walked home. Once home, I opened it up to realize that we did not receive any hot sauce somehow. I also realized that the tacos dorado were actually taquitos. The asada fries were good but the fries weren't a bit soggy. I walked home so that made sense that they weren't fresh, but they were a bit under cooked and flimsy. The 4 taquitos were dry and the filling was a bit skimpy. We didn't try the mulita tonight and will probably have them for lunch once I grab some hot sauce. The ambiance is fine. It's the neighborhood spot. The truck was clean and the service friendly. I was disappointed in the lack of salsa, taquitos instead of tacos dorado and under fried French fries. I'm sure it was all have been a lot better if I had the salsa. Oh well. I've tried the carne asada, fish, shrimp, al pastor, choriqueso, and chorizo. All have not disappointed. The salsa especially the green/yellowish one in the truck looks and tastes like a cactus salsa. It's so good. The avocado tomatillo salsa has the right amount of spice. It's the stomach warming spice! The star is definitely the tortillas. They weren't grainy/sandy or soggy floppy. They had body and were slightly crispy. Would definitely continue to come here. The tacos at this truck are absolutely amazing. I used to drive to a spot in Irvine all the time for my taco fix but this place puts every where else I've found TO SHAME! I've been coming to this truck consistently for a year and considering it's located a 5-minute walk from my place and the food is so good and so cheap, I believe it's safe to say I'm putting the owners' kids through college...one cabeza taco at a time. What do I normally order from here? If it's not a cabeza taco, then it's a chicken taco...or asada taco or carnitas taco. And I'll usually order 4-5. Why not? At a dollar a piece, it's a steal! Sometimes the boyfriend will order 4 tacos and a plate of something else, like the gringo taco, sope, or quesadilla. They even serve birria and menudo if you're hungover. If you're not sure what to get, stick with something familiar (like 5 TACOS--try one of each). Don't be turned off by some sort of communication barrier. I've lived in Santa Ana my entire life and I know maybe 3 words of Spanish. But you know what, one of those three words is TACO (as well as 'gracias' and 'hola'). That's all I need to survive. But seriously, they speak English as well, and the owner is usually there to take your order and he's very nice. His wife is pretty sweet too! I usually order my food to go but a lot of people tend to mill about the truck and enjoy their meals there while watching a telenovela on the TV. Yes, the truck even has a TV, a flat screen at that! If you do eat at the truck, please be respectful and don't litter! The owners of these food trucks work hard to make excellent food at very, very reasonable prices and if the patrons start to litter, the city will likely get involved and do something drastic, like revoking their food licenses or something. The lady charged me for my food and had me sign on her phone as they use the square point of sale system. After I signed she asked if I wanted a receipt but I declined.
