This place is underrated! We loved the interior and how it's decorated. The booth seating throughout is nice, and it looks like there's an upstairs area too. Staff greeted us when we came in and were seated. Everyone was friendly, and our food came out pretty quickly. I got the chilaquiles rojas with machaca, and omg it was soooo good. My first time trying machaca and I'm a big fan, it went perfectly with the chilaquiles. They were generous with portions and I loved all that cotija. I usually struggle to finish a big plate of food, and end up giving half to my partner...but I left no crumbs :)

My friend and I were looking for a spot to get ceviche and ended up at Casa De Los Huevos. We ordered the ceviche de camarón and the chicken tortilla soup, and both were so good. The ceviche was fresh and the soup was super flavorful. I've been here three times now, and Mario has taken care of us every visit. He's always friendly, attentive, and gives great recommendations if you're not sure what to order. The food has been consistently good, and the service is a big reason I keep coming back. Definitely recommend giving this place a try!

Food and service were both good but not great and there was certainly room for improvement. The reason I'm giving 3 and not 4 stars is the price. I feel like I can get similar food and service elsewhere for a little cheaper so makes this place a little less appealing. Service was friendly enough but there were noticeable moments where things took longer - like getting water refilled, which we had to ask for, and being able to flag someone down to ask for the check. My plate came out significantly earlier than my sister's food and so she had me start eating so it wouldn't get cold. I was halfway done with my plate before hers even came out. For food, I ordered the chilaquiles with red sauce and eggs over medium while she ordered the quesabirria. The chilaquiles were pretty good and the eggs cooked perfectly. However, the refried beans on the plate were cold. The quesabirria was tender but amongst the quesabirrias in the Bay Area, this would be considered just average. Overall, not a bad local neighborhood joint but there are so many options in the area that this wouldn't be my first choice.

The only good thing about this place was the coffee and the service. Everything else was a disappointment. I ordered the green chilaquiles, and they were completely soggy and had no flavor whatsoever. My husband ordered the Mexi Omelette, and calling it an omelette is being generous--it was nothing like one. We ordered our food to go, which turned out to be a mistake, but honestly, the food was so poorly made that I doubt it would have been much better fresh. To top it off, it felt overpriced for the quality of food we received. Definitely not worth it. I wouldn't come back for the food.

Cute interior. Super yummy Mexican breakfast options. The michelada was made to perfection. Would love to come back again. The huevos rancheros were bomb. Love the crunchiness of the tostadas. Love that they give you a side of the opposing salsa that is complimented on the huevos rancheros/ chilequiles.

There was a bit of a wait but that is normal for Sunday brunch. The servers were super nice and from. The location is 2 floors so there is seating up stairs and downstairs, along with seating at the bar. The food itself did not take long. The menu also has a lot of variety and they serve breakfast all day. There was free street parking, and San Mateo park is near by. Highly recommend checking out.

Fantastic Mexican brunch place very close to downtown San Mateo. We were in the area visiting some friends and stopped by for brunch. We had the veggie benedicts with hashbrowns and chilaquiles with house potatoes on the side. The creamed pinto beans was delicious and the entire dish had this perfect hit of spice to it which I looooved! The hashbrowns and benedicts were also great, I really can't find anything to complain about. Bill came up to $45 with tip, pretty good for the portions and taste I'd say!

We came here at the reccomendation of a friend of the family who stumbled upon this place! They raved over the service and said the food was decently priced as well. My son wanted mexican and I wanted breakfast so we came here. Unfortunately, breakfast isn't served all day BUT the server said they could do simple egg dishes. I got the chilaquiles Verde con Pollo (green sauce chilaquiles with chicken). I asked for huevos claros/blancos/sin jema but they brought out two regular fried eggs. Im pretty sure the waitress understood but perhaps the cook didnt. My son got the quesabirria and a chocolate milkshake. The portions are large and we ended up taking half of all of it to go. Chips and salsa were delish. And the service was great! I will say the waitress didnt speak much English so if you can lean in on your Spanish skills, its a good idea We will definitely be back. Its great to have a local spot we can walk to and enjoy a hot meal at an affordable price.

I want to start by saying that my rating isn't because the food was bad--it wasn't. I just want to share our experience in detail. When we arrived, no one greeted us at the door, even though a server was taking an order right next to us. There was no sign or direction, and we stood there for a moment feeling unsure of what to do. Eventually, the bartender told us we could sit wherever we wanted. Once upstairs, it took about five minutes for the waitress to come by and introduce herself. We ordered a michelada and a margarita, which were both delicious. After that, there was a long wait before she returned to take our food order--long enough that we were considering paying for our drinks and leaving. When she did return, she was very sweet and kind. We ordered chilaquiles--my husband the green ones with steak, and I ordered the red. I explained in Spanish that I wanted my egg over medium. The food took about 30 minutes to arrive and unfortunately came out cold. My husband's steak had some blood in it, and we weren't asked how he wanted it cooked. My egg was over hard with no yolk. I personally didn't mind, but my husband did want yolk and a well-done steak. We also didn't realize the steak would be a whole piece rather than sliced. My husband sent his plate back, and to their credit, they did fix everything. However, there was a significant amount of time between each interaction with the waitress. The food itself was very flavorful and delicious, and I won't take that away from them. Unfortunately, due to the service and overall experience, I don't think we'll be returning. I really wish it could have been better

10/10 for me. i had been trying to find a good spot that sells quesabirria tacos and i think i just found it. they were nice and crunchy how i LOVE them, they were a GREAT size definitely not stingy with the portions of meat inside either. Usually its all cheese no meat but not here, the consome was nice and flavorful and the chilaquiles were a good spice, my friend doesnt do too spicy and they were perfect for him. our waiter recommended the potatos as a side and he didnt disappoint, we really liked them . overall it was a great experience. the music set a great vibe for us since we knew almost every song that played. Our waiter was super kind and attentive as well , he consistently checked in on us without hovering over us which i appreciated. we will definitely be back see you soon !

The food looked yummy! Ordered: Egg-tine 7/10 The black sesame seeds were good but then the sunflower seeds adding with the cheese in the center, uhh, it was ok. I took off the center - see pic of actual product with the center in tact. That made it taste better. The croissant was my fave part - crispy yet flaky and oh so soft in the middle. Jamon fromage 10/10 Basically, a ham n cheese croissant. This was delish. Unsure if you've eaten at Croissante; but, their jamon fromage isn't that great compared to this. Theirs has mayo, which completely throws off the taste for me. In any case, this was a success. Latte 3/10 Way too milky and not enough flavor.

Both burritos were satisfying and definitely worth trying. The restaurant has an open layout with plenty of parking, making it easy to stop by. It's located next to a car mechanic shop, and I liked that they had old-school Pokémon playing on the TV--it added a fun nostalgic vibe while I was eating. Customer service was acceptable, but nothing really stood out. It's more of a self-service experience, so if you want water or anything else, you'll need to get up and grab it yourself. It would've been nice if someone checked in once or twice. One thing that did confuse me happened on a different visit. I arrived around 1:50 p.m. hoping to order food to go, but the gentleman locked the door and told me they were no longer taking orders. If you close at 2 i dont see how you were closed already. It was a little odd since there were still plenty of customers inside eating. I understand kitchens have closing times, but it would've been helpful if the hours or last call for food were clearer. Overall, it's a solid spot for a good breakfast burrito with a laid-back atmosphere. Despite that one experience, I'd still come back and recommend giving it a try.
