Reading the other reviews, I had some a little bit of mixed feelings going in, but I am happy to report that we had a wonderful brunch here on a busy Sunday morning. Our host was very attentive in managing the daunting looking long line in front of the restaurant, but no matter what, it only took about 15-18 minutes for us to get seated. She hands out menus for you to study before you get inside. Good call. Once seated, you'll enjoy a bright contemporary interior with the usual light wood accents and pretend ivy leaves along a wall or two. The seats are comfy with the wooden looking tables, but best of all, we enjoyed our selections to the fullest. Busy energetic vibe here! Even with a relatively full restaurant, it only took about 10 minutes after our orders for our entrees to appear before us. While I love fried chicken in all its forms and styles, my tummy wanted something somewhat healthy for me, so I chose the... The WHITEOUT - Egg White Omelette with spinach, basil, mushrooms, little bits of red peppers, melted mozzarella on the inside with a healthy amount of feta cheese sprinkled on top. I wasn't expecting too much, but this was surprisingly good down to the last bite. For sides, I went with the default "rainbow" potatoes, which were basically diced fried red and white potatoes and the default mixed greens salad with a vinaigrette dressing. Both sides were the perfect contrast to the eggs and melted mozzarella and spinach. YUM. Easy 5/5! YUZU LEMONADE - enjoyable with a bit of mint leaf, maybe I'll ask for a little less ice. I wanted something a bit more Yuzu, but this was decent. (3.6/5) My dining compatriots enjoyed the Vegan Lover great tofu!), Thai Tea French Toast, Ube Pancakes and Chicken Croffle. No complaints from the gallery! =) Nice presentation throughout and caring cheery service! I'm looking forward to coming back here again soon to try out the Yaki Udon, which was my runner-up to my meal selection today!
Taste & Glory is such a cute brunch spot in San Mateo. Street parking was easy to find and I love how family friendly this place is. It was hard to decide on what to order- everything sounded so good! I ended up ordering the banana brûlée french toast. LOVED the caramelized banana! I also had an iced oat milk matcha which was perfect. Sharing photos of other dishes and drinks my party ordered. Service was amazing and they were able to accommodate a big group. We will definitely be back soon!
Food - 5/5 Service - 5/5 Chicken and Croffle are all the hype! Crispy and fluffy croffle. Tender, juicy, well-seasoned chicken. The sauce that came with the plate I forget what it was called but it added a depth of flavor that made this more than just some other 'chicken and waffle' dish. I had a bite of the crab cake benedict and I was very happy with the taste. Would definitely come back. This is where the old Johnny's First Toast was (I think) so they did a great job at renovating and making the inside look very modern and IG-worthy for aesthetic pics.
This place was absolutely amazing! Was a bit tough choosing what to get because they have so many great options, especially the sweet things. Ended up choosing the crème brulee French toast & Harmony omelette, and both were delicious. The omelette was very well done - not too oily, lots of healthy mix ins, and very tasty. The bread it came with was soft and yummy, and I enjoyed the side salad dressing & tomatoes a lot. The French toast was a really nice sweet treat. I would definitely come back to try more on the menu... perhaps the ube pancakes! The restaurant itself is very cute and nicely decorated. Very popular, even on weekday mornings.

Came on a Friday afternoon. Waited 5-10 min. Not long. Ordering was quick. Got their chicken croffle, Tom yum scramble and an ube latte Honestly left a tad disappointed. For the chicken croffle. You do lose all the flakiness of the croissant. The chicken was good. The Tom yum scramble. The Tom yum sauce doesn't work well with the. Other flavors. Wish the croissant was toasted. The ube latte was good. Not too sweet.
Pretty tasty food, servise was really good we had constant re fill on our waters and servers came to ask how everything was tasting pretty often. Oh and our food was served pretty fast too. Definitely will be back!
We saw that Taste & Glory had a lot of hype and mentions of long lines, but we thankfully got lucky one day and got in with 0 wait. Cute and quaint cafe in San Mateo with unique offerings. The thai tea french toast immediately caught my eye because I love thai tea and anything thai flavored in general. While it is presented beautifully, the flavor itself fell flat for me. Thai tea is known to have bold flavor and a strong tea taste. This was really lacking that. My partner got the chicken croffle and he loved it. I tried it and it is definitely something I'd order too! Chicken was nice and crispy and the croffles weren't dry or soggy, but the perfect in between. We liked that it came with both a savory sauce and syrup. I'd definitely return to try other things sometime.

We walked in on a Saturday - right before the line got super long - and waited for 10 minutes. Staff greeted us and took our orders right away. The tables were really close together so it was a bit harder to maneuver around. It was easy for someone to bump into the table when passing by. For drinks we got the blue butterfly - which is on the sweeter side. We also got the iced biscoff latte but a bit disappointing. It wasn't sweet enough and you couldn't really taste the coffee. We really enjoyed our dishes - carbonara udon, crispy honey chicken Benedict and the ube pancakes. The carbonara udon was on par with the one we had in Japan. The chicken Benedict was full of flavor and the eggs were cooked to perfection. I've had better ube pancakes in the peninsula but they still tasted good!
The food is rounded up to four stars. I liked the carbonara udon. I don't think an omelette here though for example would be worth braving the line (yes, even on a weekday there was a line) and parking situation. If you see no line and you find a parking spot, it's a cute brunch place; otherwise it's not worth it because you do feel a bit rushed even if you get in (not from staff necessarily but just seeing the crowd). There are more brunch options downtown now though (Johnnys, whispers) so maybe things eased up.
One of the better brunch places I've had in awhile. Immediately we noticed that there's a line, and luckily the wait was not long but they do require the entire party to be there to be seated. We had the chicken croffle and the tom yum croissant. I liked the chicken croffle with how big the fried chicken is, and the sauce it comes with complements the flavors well. The chicken itself was a little bit dry in the middle. The tom yun croissant is very creative, never had anything like it before. I like that there's a lot of crab provided in the croissant. It can get heavy after awhile with the sauce. Overall I had a good experience here, good service despite being so busy most of the time. I would come again!
After driving by it many, many times (and most times seeing a line of people), I finally was able to go for brunch on a Sunday. What a delight it was. They had specials and a regular menu. The food was so clean, not oily or heavy. Good variety of drinks and the menu has great options as well. Service was also great. For a place that gets so busy, the servers and wait staff were very accommodating and knowledgeable. Two thumbs up! read more
I'm still enjoying trying the menu here. This time had the tom yum scramble - true to its name, like tom yum soup in eggs topped with cheese. The croissant is a very addition to the plate. Ube pancakes are very good. Visually beautiful purple color and mochi-like texture with the subtle taste of ube. read more
I was torn between getting a sweet, simple or savory dish since everything sounded so good. I ended up getting simple (or so I thought), but my omelette was so light and delicious. What was the cherry on top for me was the sweet potato tots which lives rent free in my head! It's so crispy and has the nice natural sweetness to it that you don't even need ketchup! What was a second contender for my order was the chicken and waffle which looked so crispy and well presented... and definitely what I'm going to get next time! Restaurant is a bit small so it can feel cramped. However, service was very quick. Parking is also hard since there is only street parking available so plan accordingly! read more

Great first experience! Very cute place with great food. Staff were very welcoming and attentive. Good came out pretty quick too. I ordered the Crème Brûlée French Toast and O.M.G it was SO good. It legitimately tastes like crème brûlée. Even the top of the French toast was crunchy and sugary. I also ordered the iced Ube which was so tasty! Not too sweet and it had chunks of Ube in it. Yummy!! I left very happy and satisfied. Definitely look forward to coming back. read more
Cute, modern, and cozy brunch spot. My friend and I came here at around 1pm on a Saturday. There were 3 parties ahead of us when we arrived, so we waited about 10-15 minutes before being seated. It took some time for our food to come out after ordering. I ordered the Crispy Honey Chicken Benedict. I really enjoyed this dish. The potatoes were perfectly bite-sized, crispy, and seasoned. The poached eggs and chicken were a good combo. Whenever I order an eggs benedict, I'm only able to finish half and have to box up the other half. However, I was able to finish 98% of this dish. It could be I was super hungry this day or the flavors and portion were just right for me. Anyways, that's just to say it was good. read more
Finally checked this place off my brunch bookmark list after wanting to try it for quite some time. We came around noon on a Saturday and only had a short wait outside, though the line situation felt pretty chaotic with multiple customers walking straight into the restaurant and skipping ahead. Thankfully, we were still seated within about 15 minutes. I really enjoyed the Tom Yum Scramble served inside a croissant. The croissant itself was a bit disappointing, slightly stale and reminiscent of a Costco croissant but the tom yum scramble was absolutely delicious and flavorful enough to make up for it. The Thai Tea French Toast was nicely balanced and not overly sweet, though I would've liked a bit more texture and crunch. As for the drinks, I'd probably skip them next time. Both the ube latte and matcha latte tasted a little artificial, and I've definitely had better versions at other brunch spots. Overall, I enjoyed the food and appreciated how attentive the service was. read more

Such a great breakfast spot! We were seated right away and the food was very unique and tasty. Would definitely come back for the chicken and croffles!!! The perfect mix of savory and sweet. Not to mention the waffle definitely does have a croissant like texture. 10/10!!!! The tomyum scramble was delicious and the ube pancakes have a mochi like texture similar to the Trader Joe's Ube mix I would def go back to try other dishes on the menu and eat that yummy chx croffle again. It is street parking only but easy to find. The restaurant is cute inside with hanging wooden lanterns and a open concept. Go go go! read more

Glad I finally tried this spot for brunch! I've driven past and always see a line but it moves faster than expected. Ordered the fried chicken benedict and basil ribeye, both were good. Servers were very attentive and quick. -chicken benedict (5/5): chicken was crispy and juicy, it was fried well and not greasy at all. I really liked this dish and would recommend. -basil ribeye (4.5/5): steak was tasty and flavorful! but I think I'd opt for something lighter next time for brunch read more
A solid brunch spot with a wide variety of options. We visited as a party of three on a Monday around 10am and were pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately. The menu offers a great mix of both sweet and savory dishes. That said, they were unfortunately out of chicken and patties during our visit, which limited some of the savory choices. I ordered the Thai tea French toast and really enjoyed the unique flavor. My friends had the chipotle Benedict and steak & eggs, both of which they liked. Service was relatively quick and efficient. Overall, a great experience with just a minor hiccup on menu availability. I'd definitely come back to try more items! read more
Bomb. I love these Asian fusion brunch spots. A lot of em have been poppin up tho. This spot was really good. Be sure to get there early if coming on a weekend to avoid the line. Food: Tomyum scramble - good but not enough Tom yum flavor. The dish was solid but nowhere near as good as the other dishes I'll be mentioning Basil ribeye- omg I thought this dish was gonna be basic. I had a feeling it would prob be a solid choice but basic cause the ingredients are just flavors I already know... But honestly this dish was so good I gotta recommend Creme brulee French toast- solid French toast choice. Was very tasty. Next time I'll try the Thai tea one Chicken croffle- another omg score. I've had croffles before but this one was one of the best. The croissant flakiness and texture was still there even tho it had been pressed into a waffle. I've had others where it lost that flakiness croissant texture. The chicken was so good as well. Juicy dark meat it was really good. Overall, very good brunch spot. I've driven by this place multiple times, saw the lines outside, and had really high hopes. Unfortunately, after finally trying it, I found it completely overrated. The Good: Presentation & Vibes: The food looks amazing. The portions are generous, and the dishes come beautifully plated with toast, fresh fruits, and great presentation. If you're here strictly to take photos for social media, you'll love it. Carbonara Udon: This was the standout dish of the meal--flavorful, well-made, and we cleaned the entire plate. The Bad: Spicy Fried Chicken Plate: Extremely dry and virtually tasteless. Dungeness Crab Salad: You couldn't taste any fresh crab--just pure saltiness. I actually had to use ketchup just to eat it. The Service: Beyond the food, the service was frustrating. The staff were running around and chatting with each other, but completely forgot our two drinks until long after all of our food had already arrived. When we brought it to their attention, we got a totally indifferent "whatever" attitude--like forgetting items or brushing off customers is just standard practice for them. Final Thoughts: I went on a Monday, so thankfully there was no wait. I definitely wouldn't recommend waiting in a weekend line for this. To me, a great restaurant needs good taste and attentive service in addition to nice plating. I won't be coming back or recommending this spot for actual food lovers, but if you just want pretty photos for social media, it serves its purpose. read more
Came here on a weekday for lunch and it was quite busy but I was still able to get seated swiftly at the last available table. Servers were all pleasant and got my mother and I's order out in a reasonable time. Chicken and waffles (5/5) the chicken was well seasoned and perfectly fried! The waffles paired well with the syrups on the side. Carbonara Udon (4/5) the udon was perfectly cooked and the richness of the sauce stuck to the noodles. Really good spot to get brunch and I can't wait to try their other brunch items. read more

First off, this is probably one of the cuter breakfast spots! I love their decor and how cozy it feels. Second, the food selection is great! We ended ordering the chicken and waffles, a specialty pancake, and sweet potato tots, which were my favorite! I highly recommend ordering a side of the tots. Third, service was on par. The servers were attentive, friendly, and made sure we were taken care of. We've been here 3 times now, and all 3 times we've had a great experience! Will definitely be coming back when we're in the area. read more

Ambiance: The place is very brightly lit with both tables and semi table booth sitting. The tables are relatively close to each other so there is not a bunch of privacy as well as can be harder to seat larger parties of greater than 4. Wait time: The wait time was between 15-20 minutes for a party of two around lunch but expect longer waits for bigger parties. They seat first come first served and they only sit if the entire party has arrived and is waiting. Service: Staff is very friendly and informative to their customers. Drinks were filled regularly without being overbearing. Food: The drinks were both very good with the matcha having a strong flavor and was sweetened with what looked like granular sugar. They have condiments already on the table with water served to everyone upon sitting down. We ordered to go by phone and had no issues. Didn't have to battle the crazy long weekend brunch line! Got a mascarpone pancake and a chicken croffle. Pancakes 4/5 Solid tasting pancakes. Went well with syrup and the fruit compote. Love that they give so many fresh fruits with it too. Fried chicken croffle 4/5 fried chicken was juicy and tasty and seasoned well. Croffle probably would've been better there. Got a little too hard as I was eating it since it was to go but the croffle was buttery and delicious. Overall, I will be back not sure I'm willing to brave the weekend rush though!! read more

Deliciousness. Be prepared to wait though. When we arrived there was a line out the door. However, it was jut two of us so we got lucky and got seated ahead of the larger groups, within about 20 mins. I'll also add that it's a bit cramped in there...at least for me. The service was quick! I had the crème brûlée French toast. I went a fan..it was too pudding like in the middle. The flavor was there but the texture just wasn't for me. The chicken and waffles were delicious! An amazing place for brunch. Crowded even on a Monday morning! A cool variety of Asian fusion dishes. I was recommended to have the Chicken Croffle for the sweet and savory. Omg. It was huge! The chicken was so moist (love the sweet chili sauce) and the waffle was a perfect mix. My friend has an omelette but I was too busy ogling over my waffle to take a photo of anything else. Reservations are only during non-busy times. I need to go back and try other dishes. In the meantime, I have leftover Chicken Croffle for breakfast today. read more
Instagram-worthy food to be had here. Love the Steak & Eggs. The thin cut of steak is not something we normally find at supermarkets. It is the first time I have over-easy eggs with steak... I had no idea they go so well together. Chicken Croffle was quite good. Love that they paired it with sauce, Biscoff crumbs, and berries. I love the marinade for the chicken, but the batter is a bit crusty. The Croffle is so tough that it is hard to cut with a butter knife. I enjoyed the hot Ube Latte. Taste and Glory is easily one of those places that never disappoints. Their service is always top notch, the staff is attentive, friendly, and makes you feel genuinely welcomed every time you visit. It really elevates the whole dining experience. The interior is also incredibly cute and cozy, with a warm atmosphere that makes it a great spot whether you're going for a casual meal or something a little more special. Most importantly, the food is always delicious. We've tried at least six different dishes so far, and every single one has been amazing in its own way. It's clear that they put a lot of care into both the flavors and presentation. Definitely a place I'll keep coming back to and recommending to others! read more
Overall: Comfort food, lovely Asian-American breakfast joint. Did not disappoint! It wasn't too loud inside and the vibes were homey. Time: wait was not long, service speedy and friendly Service: polite, professional Food: worth trying for sure. Cost: pricey but what isn't in the peninsula? My wife and I arrived around 11:10 on a Saturday morning and had about 15-20 people in front of us. We were seated in about 20 mins! Not bad for a walk in on a Saturday. My wife had walked by around 9:45am and there wasn't a line, it was quiet. We looked at making a reservation but the booking page would only allow reservations to be made for groups of 5 or more. We got the Croffle (chicken + croissant pressed Belgian waffle style) and the Tom Yum Scramble. Croffle Chicken: it has biscoff crumbles + berries as a plate finish! The maple syrup was decent The other sauce seemed like a clever sweet and sour/creamy sauce variation The Croffle is basically a croissant that is Belgian waffle pressed Tom Yum Scramble: pricey because it has crab and it is a signature dish Worth trying Definitely share size Tips: -This is PLENTY of food for 2 people. Plenty to share in both dishes. -order the croissant for the scramble on the side unless you don't mind it being a bit wet from the scramble. 4 stars because we had dirty silverware and they offer those "no refrigeration needed" coffee creamers. Not really. They're usually packed and can get quite loud with a full house. Really good food to fuel up for studying though!
