For a long time, I'd been trying to find a breakfast place that served incredible eggs Benedict and I was always disappointed...until I found Christie's in Burlingame, CA. Everything about our experience there was absolutely wonderful from the warm welcome, to the service, and above all, to the food. Tanya owns the restaurant and she makes sure you're never out of their piping hot delicious coffee. But then there's the eggs Benedict: perfectly poached eggs, a large serving of Canadian bacon, and the BEST Hollandaise sauce around, completely made fresh, and from scratch!!! The hash browns, also perfection: crispy and bronzed on the outside, and soft and tender within. We also had a small order of French toast which was equally as excellent: a hint of cinnamon, and melted in your mouth. We were so happy with our meal, we wanted to tip the chef AND the wait staff!!!!!! We've decided that Christie's is now our only breakfast spot and we can't wait to return again, and again, and again. Really, just sublime. read more

I've been coming to Christie's since I was a little girl and it never disappoints! On my most recent visit last weekend, we were greeted immediately. It wasn't too busy (9am on a Thursday) so we were seated right away. This place hasn't changed a bit! The staff is fantastic, the food is delicious and always hot, and the restaurant itself is perfect in every way. My favorite is the Christopher's Breakfast Wrap (also easy to eat on a long road trip). Last thing to know is you have to get their hashbrowns!! Anytime I order hashbrowns at a restaurant I compare them to Christie's hashbrowns and they never measure up. You won't be disappointed! read more

Ugh. Just no. Christie's is your typical small diner with menu items you would expect like breakfast platters, omelettes, club sandwiches, and burgers. There are not many tables so I imagine at busy times there could be a wait. The first thing we noticed after sitting down is it is LOUD in the room in the back. Like everyone has to shout to have a conversation and it wasn't just a couple of loud people. Our server and their helper must have hearing loss because they were speaking so quietly I had to ask them to repeat themselves three times. Prices are the usual overpriced for inexpensive fare. Service is fairly quick. Food quality is really poor. Everything tasted like the griddle hadn't been cleaned since their last health inspection. The waffles tasted like cardboard and had the same texture and the crepes tasted like rancid oil. My wife clocked this place right after we sat down and said we should leave. TLDR: Big portions and good tasting food! If you're in the area, I would put this on a list of places to try out. Food: Monterey Omelet The Monterey Omelet took me by surprise - it was a hit for me! Absolutely loved the hollandaise sauce that is poured atop the omelet. I enjoy artichoke, but the chunks were a bit big, so it was a tad cold when I bit into them. Hashbrowns were crispy for the most part - some parts were still a little moist. This dish also came with a side of bread, but I was so full from everything else that I didn't even finish this! Overall, a good cheesy/creamy dish that I'd recommend to anyone. Ambiance: A boisterous environment - bustling and lively! It made for a great brunch vibe, but if you're looking for something quieter then I'd suggest outdoor seating. Love this place for a quick bite! I make this my go to breakfast spot when I get my car serviced so not sure what the parking situation is like. All the servers are very kind and attentive. I never feel rushed when I'm trying to do a slow morning here. I always get the Christopher's burrito and it satisfies my breakfast burrito cravings each time! Ambiance is very old-diner like, so you feel cozy and right at home. Taking off one star since I saw a cockroach during my last visit when I was paying so that freaked me out. Had to get a car service around the corner so ended up here for an early breakfast which was very pleasant, but let's get to the skinny: 1. Parking can be challenging as it's a very tight part of the little downtown. 2. They have a cute little counter or a nice array of tables to sit at. 3. Lots of natural light from the street. 4. The staff are HAPPY and worked well together from front of house to the dishwasher. 5. The menu has a great selection but not so much you get lost in it. 6. If you have time, you're walkable to a bunch of fun little shops, and the library which is beautiful! I ended up coming back for a BLT with onion rings (not pictured) which was generous with big thick bacon pieces and more than enough rings to soothe the greasy craving. You know how they say never go to Costco hungry? Applies to Christie's! I came here STARVING and ordered an "American Scramble." I was so hungry that I scarfed down the entire scramble before I realized I never took a picture of it. Now attached is a photo of the interiors. This was a great locally owned breakfast spot. I has brunch with some friends and it we got there at just the right time. This place it's great when you're out with friends or just solo. I really enjoyed how attentive the service was and the staff made me really feel at home. I had the taste for blueberry pancakes however I didn't want to order a full stack I really enjoyed that the restaurant was able to accommodate me and brought me one pancake and gave me one extra on the side. My friends enjoyed their bacon cheeseburger and their other breakfast items can't be missed. I definitely enjoyed the hot coffee and they always made sure my cup was full. Just stopped in for the first time and was so thorough impressed with the selection and quality of our meals. We were kindly greeted and seated in the spacious dining area (so much bigger than it appears from the outside). The restaurant was busy full of locals and everyone was chowing down on something delicious. Overwhelmed with the awesome menu offerings because everything looked so yummy! I opted to try to country fried steak and the hubby had their breakfast burrito. Everything came out piping hot and so very fresh. The portions are very generous as you'll see in the photo below. This place has been around for a long time, I remember going here once before, maybe like 15 years ago.   I'm happy to see that it's still here and survived covid. I just learned this place has been around since the 80s.  Way longer than I thought and way before I was born, lol.   Walking in this place ll it definitely looks and feels like a homey old school diner.      Tanya took my order, and she was super friendly and helpful.  She made me feel like I've been going here for so long.  She made me feel like family. I ordered: Meat Lover's Skillet (secret menu) - Bottom has hashbrown and then layered with meat and cheese.   It looks good and was maybe a little more than I expected. It was cheesy and salty with all the meats. Chicken Fried Steak w/ over medium eggs and home potatoes (gravy on the side) - travels better so it's not soggy.   This was super crispy still when I got home.  It was delicious.      Portions are ginormous and have great service. Can't really ask for more.   I can't wait to come back soon and try their other items. Parking wasn't too bad, I like that it's a little bit away from the busy area. This is still one of my go-to-breakfast joints! My wife, she loves breakfast, me not so much. This morning we found ourself in Burlingame and Christie's was the only place we thought of to satisfy both of our needs! She had her traditional egg breakfast with hashbrown, toast, and no meat. I on the other hand, had my usual steak, eggs, hashbrown, and sourdough toast! The steak was cooked just the way I requested it. The hashbrowns were perfectly crisp on the outside and tender on the inside, yum! The staff, which is a family owned restaurant, another thing we love about this place, was attentive and took care of us. Thank You Christie's! You are always consistent and delivers every time! Came early Sunday morning for breakfast. Was seated right away and the kids got coloring sheets and crayons. Decent kids' menu and large regular menu with lots to choose from. Went with the California Benedict that came with turkey and avocado. Hash browns were crispy. We also got the corned beef hash Benedict which was on the saltier side (understandably for what it is) but also felt the amount of corned beef hash could have been greater. Ordered ham with over-medium eggs for the kids to share. The eggs came out over easy instead as the yolks were very runny. One thing that rubbed us the wrong way was when the waitress brought the food to our table, she seemingly got flustered with the lack of table space due to the 2 kids coloring on their sheets and stood there with our food and said "I don't know where to put this!" It wasn't in a joking way. She was visibly distressed which was very uncomfortable for us. I took the plate from her and set it down on the table. She came back with another plate and repeated the same thing. We took that plate from her too. The rest of the staff were friendly and great. read more

I feel bad that it's taken me 2+ years to write this review. This is our default go-to brunch spot when we are not feeling like venturing out to SF on the weekends. In my opinion, Christie's beats out the other brunch options in the downtown Burlingame area both in terms of quality and quantity. Not to mention the wait time during peak Saturday morning is much shorter than the alternatives. The best item hands down is the Monterey Omelette with Hollandaise sauce. This massive omelette is filled to the brim with chicken sausage, artichoke and mushrooms. The star of the show is the hollandaise sauce, which is usually my favorite part of eggs Benedict. But since omelette is usually my favorite thing to eat at a brunch, this dish just brings together the best of both worlds. Most of the patrons here seem to know the owners. Those human connections give this place a warm small community vibe despite of being located in a fairly large suburb area. read more

This is a small family operation which is over 20 years old. I had my favorite corned beef and eggs. Still perfectly done with excellent hash browns. Giving them one star because they kicked us out (a party of 4) after dining in there for an hour (included time that I had to wait for them to take my order + making the food). It was unreasonable to kick your customers out simply because you had other customers waiting in line. This seemed to be a repeated pattern and behavior as other reviewers had similar experience. Please do not treat this as a fast food restaurant. If it is, you should not expect any gratuities. Parking was also a challenge especially during the weekends. The food was decent and nothing special, but you can go elsewhere with a better service. You certainly don't want to be rushed out to accommodate their business. I've seen that in the past at other restaurants which I get, they want to go home. Not here at Christie's. The food was good and the amount they give, wow! The only thing I'd say was a negative was that the toast came separate, which was the first for me. It was an additional $3. Normally, toast is included at other places but they still deserve a 5 star. Why? Because they have exceptional service and good food. We were nearby in the morning and looking for a good place for coffee and breakfast. We found Christie's and we were so happy finding this place! Very friendly service, I felt like I've been coming here for years, quick to give us the menus and coffees, plenty of varieties of items to choose from but not too confusing. And the best part, the food was very tasty! I loved my bacon avocado omelet, warm and fluffy. And my husband's breakfast burrito was so full of stuffings (potatoes, avocado, bacon, cheese etc) that half way through, all the yummies were falling out from the bottom! Food came out in a timely fashion with a smile. Service: A My usual go-to is country-fried steak. I wanted to try something different and after viewing a fellow Yelper, I decided to order the Avocado Toast with eggs. The avocado toast came with smashed avocado, sliced tomato, eggs however you prefer (I chose over easy for maximum yolkage), and they top it off with some everything bagel seasoning. I also ordered a side of bacon so that I could slide those bad boys in under the tomato. The food was great! Parking is plentiful, although you may have to park and walk a bit. What I ordered: - Christie's Skillet (5/5) - DELICIOUS is all I can say. What a simple yet well done dish. The potatoes were crispy and well seasoned. It had just the right amounts of everything. Not too much cheese, and a good amount of sausage! Just add some hot sauce and its a delicious meal. Portion was quite large, I couldn't even finish this plate myself. - Mexican Scramble - My boyfriend ordered this dish, and I only tried a little bit but wow. The same level of tasty as the skillet. I stopped by on a weekday for a quick breakfast, and was given the choice to sit wherever I wanted. Within 20 seconds of sitting, they brought by water and offered me coffee. The service was quick and straightforward - not particularly warm and cuddly, but prompt and attentive. I loved it. As someone perpetually disappointed by the lack of skillet breakfast options at most restaurants, I was very pleasantly surprised to find a couple available here (amongst a wealth of other delectable breakfast options - I will come back to try more). I decided on Christie's Skillet, and it was brought out in about 7 minutes. The portions are VERY generous - this was one of the few times I wasn't able to finish my meal! The eggs were perfectly cooked to my liking (over easy FTW), the home fries were crispy and salty, and the linguica was deliciously seasoned. I was full until dinner. I love the variety of new and exciting dining options that continually sprout up around Burlingame. But there is something timeless and comforting about having Christie's there on the outskirts of downtown.
