I too have become a La Caseta believer! La Caseta is part of the outdoor food court/ food stands at Camp North End. I had a nice relaxing lunch here with my friends and was able to try almost everything on the menu. The aromas drifting from the grill were amazing - and when they slapped down a freshly marinated skirt steak on the grill, that sizzle said it all. Tacos: Al Pastor and Asada = both very good but the Asada is the winner - the grilled veggie salsa on top nails it. Papusas: Revueltas (cheese, beans, ground pork belly) vs Frijoles = again both damn good but Frijoles is the winner - simple, filling, delicious comfort food. The Argentinian Style filling in the empanadas gets an honorable mention - just wish there was more of it in them!! I'm with Tonya - "Pupusas" needs to be a thing. Totally legit place to get an affordable and killer Latin American Treat!!! read more

In this new reality we are living in, it's nice to see places still opening up and adapting (as if opening a restaurant wasn't hard enough!). La Caseta holds the corner down in their section of Camp North End. The staff are super friendly and the food seems to come out really quickly. I was surprised at the speed only because it's really hard to develop all that flavor in a small amount of time. :) You can't go wrong with a taco here. Between the Al Pastor and the Asada tacos, I think I would re-eat both! But maybe the edge goes to the asada taco. I was most excited about the papusas - man were they tasty. I know they are supposed to be super "bad" for you, but indulging in one of these every once in a while is a must. Overall the visit I had to La Caseta won't be my last one. I know Camp North End is still developing, but it's turning out to be a cool spot. Veteran tip: if the tables in front of the food stalls are full, check around the corner since there are some seating areas made out of repurposed industrial materials. At first glance, they look like old warehouse pallet movers, but they are super comfy. read more

Very good! Reminded me a little of the street vendors when I was in Tulum Mexico. Located in the Camp North End across the street of Graham Street Station , it's a great location to be in as camp north end continues to grow and develop We got their towards the end of the night so they only had tqcos but they were still very good. They offer tacos, pupusas, empenadas, and arepas. Don't sleep on the pupusas! I ordered one taco, one arepa, and the pupusa and it was by far my favorite of the 3, despite being vegetarian with refried beans as the protein. Outdoor ordering and outdoor seating made for an ideal meal during covid as well. read more

I could really sum this review up in one sentence: Get the Avocado Salsa! But, that's not how reviews work so here goes. La Caseta has been on my radar for quite some time so imagine my delight when I got to try not only a newcomer to Charlotte's food scene, but a new condiment that I'd never heard of & am so glad to know now--avocado salsa. Google tells me that there are several ways to do this but, in my book, La Caseta does it exceedingly well. Lovely shade of green, flawlessly smooth, and the perfect combination of rich & tart. It was intended for my carne asada taco--which had meat so tender that it really needed no sauce--but I tried to put that salsa on everything, lol. The al pastor tacos, while not as sweet as I'm accustomed to, also held their own. With a smoky, flavorful pineapple salsa and--you guessed it, several generous dollops of my avocado salsa--they rounded out my meal perfectly. We frequently hear the term "cooking with love" and La Caseta's offerings seem to embody just that. These tacos should definitely not be limited to Tuesday--already looking forward to my next trip! read more

I am not the biggest fan of Mexican food but oh my goodness, this little spot in Camp North End was so good! We've tried just about everything on the menu. Al Pastor Taco - not my favorite as the meat was dry and I couldn't taste/see the pineapple Revueltas Pupusas - DELICIOUS! I could eat spoonfuls of that tomato sauce and slaw - so good! Rumberas Arepa - a bit too heavy for me since this is a mix of meat and melted Gouda cheese - not an easy food to eat as well since it can get very messy, but still pretty good! Reyna Arepa - a healthier arepa choice since it was filled with chicken salad - I asked for the salsa verde to be added on the side as it gives it a nice kick and adds some flavor read more

Me and my boyfriend went and ordered some of their tacos. We were greeted by a girl who had an attitude and got the order wrong. I enjoyed my tacos but felt bad because my boyfriend couldn't eat his due to his allergic reaction to pineapples despite having told the cashier. Everything else was nice, tacos weren't bad. Honestly, they have the opportunity to bring in Spanish food to this location and they are not hitting the spot. The options are extremely limited. No good vegetarian options. I think they could add more to the menu and get more people in. The service.. well we didnt order anything since the location did not hit all of our dietary needs. read more

La Caseta is another fellow food stall in Camp North End that has some small treasures. I have never heard nor had a Pupusa, however the flavors were everything. Definitely my favorite dish. They have tacos as well as arepas at their stall as well. Taco de Asada was my favorite from them , which usually always is my favorite. Covid - everyone is wearing a mask and there is someone that comes and wipes the counter after every customer comes to the counter read more

We tried the chicken arepa and it was so fresh and finger licking good. The house made sause is bomb! The mexican hot chocolate was good too( specially on a cold day). I have literally been trained by women in El Salvador on how to make Papusas and La Caseta is the REAL DEAL!!! Small stand in Camp North End. Parking nearby and plenty of seating all around. First off, $2.95 a papusa....spot on! We got one of each type (one meat and one beans) and the beans one was my favorite. No surprise because that's how it was in El Savador for me too! Crispy corn masa on the outside and gooey deliciousness in the middle. The papusas are topped with the traditional slaw and red tangy sauce as well. We tried La Caseta this past weekend while we were at Camp North End. It was good overall, but some things were better than others. We got the Al Pastor taco (good), Reina Pepiada arepa (basically just room temp chicken salad inside a room temp thick maize "pocket; pretty meh), and the Carne empanada (dough was good, filling was actually really bland). Having said that, they make their own hot sauce and you can ask for it. Also their salsa is legit (better than anything you'll buy at the store) and I would buy a jar if they offered it. (These two sauces were the key to the bland options to give them flavor and contrast.) read more

La Caseta is located in the Keswick area of Camp North End. I love the walk-up window service layout and great outdoor eating area. I ordered the Al Pastor (pork) and Asada (steak) tacos and both were really good. House-made tortillas and meat was flavorful and juicy. I also had a beef empanada that was wonderful. Our service was great super fast ordering and food came out quickly and was well cooked. Very similiar food style to the other Raydal Hospitality restaurants (Three Amigos and Sabor). I ould recommend a visit. read more

I was really looking forward to lunch at La Caseta, but the prices charged really put a damper on the experience. The tiny street tacos were $4.95 each, and the lack of pineapple in the taste or appearance a definite disappointment. The empanada was similarly petite, also $4.95, and more crust than fillings .Since a bottle of water was $3.00, I did not have one. I placed an order online around 2pm for pickup at 4pm. 4 papusas, 2 empanadas, and 1 quesadilla. $40 including a 20% tip. I got a text about 10 minutes later telling me my order was ready. I called and explained I couldn't pick it up until 4. They said "oh well the order came in without a time so we made it." I offered that I have a text confirming 4:00 but they only said they'd keep the order waiting for me. Whatever. Papusas reheat. So I pick up the order and drive 45 minutes home only to find ITS NOT EVEN THE RIGHT ORDER! It's 2 papusas, an arepa, and a taco! I have no recourse as I'm not driving all the way back to change out the food and calling the first time made me feel like I'd done something wrong when I have confirmation I'd placed the order right. Today will be the last time I eat there and I recommend you try any of the other places in Camp North End before you go to La Caseta. read more

Today was my first time eating at this place and I definitely recommend it. My friend had 2 pupusas revueltas and I ordered 2 Asada tacos 1 pupusas frijoles and it was really good! The taco tortillas are hand made so they taste even better! It's a nice place to sit and eat. They were so good we placed a second order to eat there lol Also, it's outdoor seating really relaxing and nice. A lot of construction going on. I have it only 4 stars because the tacos are normal size tacos and they cost +$3.50. The tortillas seemed to be made fresh which is always a plus. The meat was so good. And everything was served in a clean and organized way. Just too much for food. I was only able to order 2 because I usually pay 1.50 for a taco. But I would return to splurge. Growing up in El Salvador & Dominican Republic, Miriam and Dalton Espaillat knew street food to be how their communities came together. Pupusas were enjoyed on Friday and Saturday nights in the neighborhood with other families with music and dancing. Their mothers cooking together with others in preparing traditional food all made by hand. La Caseta is a celebration of these foods that are passed down and celebrated from the very communities they call home.

Generous meat portion, really enjoyed this Latin twist on fried rice. - Lomo saltado (4.5/5): we really enjoyed this as well / better than lomo saltado I've had elsewhere. The beef was so flavorful and delicious, as well as the fried potatoes. The rice complemented everything nicely. - Cuban fried rice (3/5): this one missed the mark for me a bit! It was a bit too oily / flavor didn't hit the spot. I definitely preferred the chaufa a lot more (though they're a bit similar). Our server was so bright and friendly. The atmosphere is bright, colorful, and lively. I'll definitely be coming back!

He enthusiastically explained that while they had Mexican dishes, authentic Latin food was their real specialty. He made great recommendations and took great care of us throughout the meal. We chose to try the empanadas (1 cheese, 1 chicken, and 1 steak) and some cheese dip with chorizo. Both were exceptional. Full of flavor. My wife and I agreed to split 2 entrees, and that was another good decision. I had the Cachapa with shredded chicken, and she had the Venezuelan Arepas. Neither of us had ever had these dishes, but both were amazing. We were stuffed, but no way we couldn't take a desert home for later. The flan and the Tres Leches were both AWESOME! If you are on the fence, just try this place. You will be glad you did! They take a tremendous of pride in the quality of the food. The restaurant was very clean and had a great ambiance.

Boy, I do not think I have ever been more wrong about anything in my life...memories of past boyfriends start to creep in slowly-haha! I am currently obsessed with Statesville's Columbian Bakery+Restaurant! Yes, I said it! Not slightly obsessed, completely obsessed! I have patronized this business twice this week already and I plan to go there again before the weekend is over! The food is amazingly and authentically appetizing! To date, I have experienced the yummy goodness that is their Beef Empanadas, Tostones, Maduros, and my current foodie crush, Pan de Bonos. Each and every food item is fresh made to order except of course, for the bakery items BUT the bakery items are fresh made daily. The Beef Empanadas are a little meat-filled hand pie and they are so delicious! The pie consists of a thin cornmeal-type crust wrapped around the meat filling then deep fried. The meat filling is finely chopped or minced beef with small bits of potato (another reviewer said, beans, idk which it is but they're delicious) mixed in. It sounds heavy but it is actually quite light because the consistency of the filling is so fine and the outer crust is so thin. These yummies are so good, you cannot eat just one! The Tostones are smashed and fried green plantains. These are a salty side which taste like potatoes and they pair very well with the empanadas. The Maduros are fried ripe plantain chunks. I have had these before at other Latin restaurants and I do love them! The maduros from Columbian Bakery+Restaurant did not disappoint! They are just as good as any I've had and maybe just a little better because they are so fresh when you get them! These are a sweet side with just a hint of tartness. They pair well with any of the spicy foods served at this restaurant but I always eat them as a dessert! My favorite, the Pan de Bonos, are a bakery item but I was lucky enough to stop by when pan after pan of these little delectable puff balls were coming out hot and fresh from the oven. Yesssss! Who doesn't love a light and fluffy cheese bread ball?!? Cheese and Bread! Sign me up every time! But not to worry these addictive little things reheat really well in the microwave. I know because I ordered a dozen on my last visit! I cannot wait to go back to this Columbian paradise right in the heart of Statesville and try out more of their food offerings! What was especially disappointing was feeling as though we were being treated differently because of our appearance. I am from Brazil, and I know that if someone visits a Brazilian restaurant or business, we would make an effort to welcome and assist them regardless of their background or the language they speak. I can speak some Spanish and understand it when spoken, but I should not be expected to speak Spanish simply because I may look Hispanic. The one positive interaction we had was with the gentleman who brought our food. He was very kind, friendly, and welcoming. Overall, we felt invisible for most of our visit. The food was excellent, and we would recommend it based on the food alone, but the customer service definitely needs to be addressed. Every customer deserves to feel welcomed, respected, and treated equally, regardless of their appearance or language.

She asked her husband and my husband if they would like to have three scallops added to their meal the waitress did not say would you like to have three scallops added to your meal for $30? She just plainly said would you like to have three scallops added to your meal or a lobster tail now I understand that there are many people that would go in and not have a problem with the price however, it should be stated how much the up charge is going to be and it should be in writing on the menu because we looked back on the menu and there was not a price for up charge on the scallops . My friend was not happy with the service nor the cost of the scallops . The manager did not really know how to handle the situation but because I invited everyone I wanted to make it right and I asked to pay part of her bill and of course my friend denied and said it'd be best. If we just not come back she said the food wasn't bad the food was actually good however, the waitress was definitely not as friendly focused as she should have been and not willing to help make our experience the best I will say the manager should have been able to accommodate her request and move forward and be kind and understand her point. I will be back and I would love for my friends to come back. The ambiance was very nice and the drinks and food were good as well. Please note the manager at the end gave us a $10 coupon for next visit but our friends were not happy with the outcome. It was simply lack of communication and more openness regarding the charges of up selling and the price is not on the menu. Given the price and reputation from my past experiences, I was expecting top tier service, food, and ambience with a quality of fish second to none in the area. Let's break it down: We had a table of 3 and each ordered the signature tasting ($60 pp, a drink, and 2 extra items (one tuna roll and the Australian wagyu hot rock, ~$20 each) 1. Service Our waitress was kind and professional, but the overall cohesion of the staff seemed off and the wait times between courses was sporadic and often too long. It took about 30 minutes from ordering to get our first course which was... a salad wrap. Not only did this seem way too long, but it was extremely underwhelming for a top tier tasting menu experience (will come back to this in the food section). After that, some courses came out overlapping each other, and some were 10-15 min apart. This made it feel less like a fine dining tasting experience and more disorganized. On top of that, the server bringing the food to the table would explain each course in a rush and we could not hear them, meaning we did not know much about each dish. Lastly, our water was consistently empty and previous corse dishes were left on the table when new ones were served, which is a minor thing but should be standard at a fine dining restaurant. Knowing how blown away I was in Austin by the original restaurant, the overall service left me feeling disappointed in bringing my friends and hyping up the place for such an expensive meal. 2. Food Our tasting menu consisted of 7 courses including a salad wrap, tuna hamachi (cold), a sea bream role, ponzu glazed salmon (hot), 2 pieces of nigiri per person, brussel sprouts, and a dessert. Having 2 of 6 core dishes be a salad and veggie at a renowned seafood restaurant was disappointing, and these did not blow me a way at all and were average at best (salad was uninteresting, brussels were cold and too saucy). The sea bream role was also just average, but the tuna hamachi, salmon, and nigiri were excellent. I felt that the portion size was small for 3 people, it was marginally bigger than a 2 person tasting and that was also slightly disappointing. We each got to choose our own dessert which was nice and included a guava and banana cake which were excellent but much too big compared to the portions of the core dishes. We also ordered the additional tuna crunchy roll and hot rock wagyu which were excellent, and a much better value than the tasting portions. Overall, the food was still good, but I distinctly remember the few times I went to the Austin restaurant being absolutely blown away by the food quality, uniqueness, and menu selection, which was not the case here. I hope this improves in the future. 3. Ambience The adaptive reuse space was awesome and the look of the place is stellar. I loved how much seating and bar space there was and the overall lighting and mood was great. The only complaint I have here is that it was very loud making it hard to hear servers and each other over conversation. No one wants to be shouting over the ambient noise when paying $100+ for a meal. For context, we are late 20s, we are not shy to louder bars and restaurants, this was especially noisy. In general, I believe this place has a ton of potential and I really hope it improves in quality and value before I come back again. At present, I would not recommend the tasting menu and instead opt for individual dishes.

Order their homemade pasta and be prepared to share. Portions were above average. For dessert you must try the cheesecake. Smooth and well balanced. One improvement could be the chocolate cake.
