Solid spot with generous portions and really good flavor. From the outside it doesn't look like much, but once you're inside it feels very authentic and simple in the best way. They had fútbol games playing on the TVs, which added to the vibe and made it a great casual lunch spot. The tacos here are noticeably bigger than your typical street tacos, and most plates come with a full serving of rice and beans plus a little side of guac and salad, so you're definitely getting a full meal. Everything tasted fresh, but the standout for me was the tortillas. They're clearly made fresh and have that soft, slightly chewy texture you want. You can even buy them by the pound, which is a huge plus. Tried the birria taco, which is actually more of a quesabirria. It was massive and packed with flavor, though a bit heavy on the cheese for my taste. Still very solid overall, just something to keep in mind depending on your preference. Prices are a little higher than you might expect for this type of spot, but the portion sizes help justify it. Service was fast and everyone was very friendly. Just note that English is somewhat limited, but it didn't cause any major issues. This is unfortunately my first time leaving a negative review, but my experience here didn't sit right with me. When I visited on Tuesday, March 10, around 1:15ish the person taking orders was very rude and condescending while speaking with me. She started the conversation in English, but halfway through taking my order acted like she could no longer communicate with me. I even began speaking a mix of English and Spanish to avoid any confusion, but she continued rolling her eyes and seemed irritated the entire time. What made it more uncomfortable was that instead of speaking directly to me, she began asking my friends questions about my order in Spanish, even though I was standing right there and could understand her. My friends noticed it too and had to ignore her so she would address me directly. Despite the poor service, I still tipped well and remained respectful. I also noticed that we were not offered menus or told we could sit and look over one, yet another group that came in shortly after us was greeted warmly and given menus right away. I originally came in planning to create food review content for this restaurant. While the food was good, the service completely changed my impression. The Parking: I won't sugarcoat it, this plaza is a nightmare. It's one of those poorly designed, tight plaza parking lots CLT loves. I park further away by the gas station to avoid tight situations. This place is just straight up authentic and delicious Mexican food. The pico is some of the best I've ever had. Chips were so crispy and fresh. They have so many taco options to chose from- my personal favorite was the birria. The quesadilla was stuffed and heavy full of cheese and chicken. I tried a papusa that was delish and would love to try one with more than just cheese next time. The inside is nothing to sit and enjoy so I recommend take out as we did- although they do serve alcohol there. It's a tortilleria -- so you can buy bulk carnitas or barbacoa and tortillas and take it home, and the ambience is functional rather than fancy, but the food is as authentic as you can get. Service is quick and easy but don't expect they will speak English. Menu is in Spanish and English, so pointing works just fine in a pinch. My food was prepared in about 10 minutes during lunch time but they were not busy at all which was surprising to me. I would say the cons are the prices are HIGH for the value of the food. It's about $2 too high. The inside in small best to get take out. The parking lot is small and crapped and there were a lot of "parked" cars with no license plate which was weird. This is not a safe neighborhood. The gas station next door looks extremely scary. Ladies do not come here alone. I felt like the men were undressing me with their eyes they literally stopped eating and just stared LOL. My quesadilla had a lot of shrewd beef and only a little cheese that wasn't fully melted. But the time I got it home it was completely soggy so I put in the air fryer and it was edible. I was craving a taco but refused to pay almost $4 per taco. No way. So I will NOT be coming back to this place. If you like spending $20 for lunch for authentic Mexican food then this is the place for you but not for me. Also I saw the kids meal was $10. What ?!?!?! I've passed this place for years but thanks to Yelp, I finally stopped by (all this time I thought it was a corner store). We were pleasantly greeted as we approached the counter. Everyone I encountered was nice and did their best to answer questions. We ordered a quesabarria and some chicarrones for takeout and now we are discussing when we will go back to grab tacos. Five stars because the consommé and the salsa verde was packed with spice and flavor. The amount of cheese and beef was the right balance amongst the tortilla. Not sure why I haven't heard about this place but it was AMAZING!! The restaurant always caught my eye because they used to have the waving inflatable guy outside that my son LOVED. I'm not sure why they got rid of it but hopefully it'll be back soon. We were hesitant about coming in because the Yelp page mentions it having a 91 health score. We went inside and were pleasantly surprised to see that they now have a 96!! I knew it was going to be good when I saw Latinx coming in and leaving. That let me know it was going to be authentic!! Although the cashier didn't speak English, she was able to get help with translating and it worked out fine. We had one thing on our minds anyway, BIRRIA TACOS!!! We did try ordering chips and salsa but they don't offer that. I was able to taste the Jamaican Agua Fresca and it was sweeter than I prefer so I ordered a pineapple soda instead. Yall. Yall...those birria tacos were so delicious, I was ready to order more. We've tried them at multiple restaurants in the area and none of them compare!! The tortilla taco wrap is made right here on site at the back of the kitchen where you can see as you walk towards the end of the restaurant. That makes all the difference!!! I usually don't even like the type of taco wraps made out of corns, but this is the only place in town that I actually enjoy this type of tacos! This time the food was horrible the fries tasted like coal and they where cold my little brother only eat a few fries he said he didn't like them they tasted like coal The gortitas where fine at first but the beans we horrible I couldn't finish it it wasn't even cooked all the way. The meat, rice, beans tasted like they where being made before hand the meat was over cooked the rice tasted like they where a month old.
