Food is okay. Management allows their friends with screaming kid drink there. They won't do anything about it. The ambiance is annoying with the screaming spoiled child throwing a tantrum because he didn't get his way the entire time. I wouldn't eat here if you want to relax. read more

Well to say this has always been my go to for the three taco plate is an understatement. I've always loved them but never again. I bought my tacos deconstructed so they wouldn't get soggy and when I got home in the middle taco shell was old dried meat. I was so grossed out as it had obviously been previously been made then taken apart and when I called the manager acted like it was no big deal and he would replace it. I brought the shells to show thinking that I would get an apology or just an oh no not sure how that happened but they just said the meat sits next to the taco shells. How long that meat had been in there is a mystery as it was dried out completely and she said well "it's all under heat". There's no way those shells could be kept at a temperature that was safe for meat. It just didn't make any sense. This will literally be my last time here. Good luck if you go here used shells or dried meat in a shell for however long is a no go for me. read more

Bay City has 3 or 4 decent Mexican joints based on my conversations with the locals here and the majority of people suggest that this is their #1 choice for some good Mexican food. And I have to say, I do agree with them. Well I can only compare it with one other Mexican joint I visited earlier in the week and this place slightly edges out the other place. There are advantages and disadvantages to both, but this places caters to most of my needs. This place has a bar, the other doesn't. This place is a lot bigger and the patrons are more geared to my age group, while the other place is geared to all kinds of people. Over here, I was served with a very hot plate. I ordered the Sabino, which is 2 enchiladas, a tamale with beans and rice for just $10. Now that was some very good food too. And there were plenty on this plate too. Here in Texas, they just love giving you a lot of food. But in this case, there was quantity and quality to the plate I ordered. It was unfortunate that my visit here happened the night before I left. If I had known earlier about this place, I could have come here a second time and avoid all those other fried food joints that inhabit the majority of Bay City. They also give out some complementary chips and salsa. The salsa was nice and warm. Very good, in that I just had to put some of that salsa in my Sabino plate. And as for dessert, I ordered their Tres Leches cake. Good, decent, but the consistency wasn't there. Still I enjoyed that sugary goodness. So if I were to come back to Bay City, this would be a mandatory stop. Keep in mind the store hours as most restaurants are not open 7 days a week. Just call ahead to verify. read more

The real thing. Authentic traditional Mexican food in a pleasant environment. The decor is fun and includes a nice patio. The service was top notch, never an empty glass. The salsa is perfect: spicy with lots of cilantro. They were quick to refill the chips and salsa as I ran low. I ordered the trio enchiladas, which has one each cheese, chicken, and beef enchilada. They were topped with an old style "enchilada sauce," more akin to a spicy gravy (not a chili or meat style). All three were delicious, but the cheese enchilada was fantastic. I will order all cheese enchiladas next time. It came with rice and beans. The rice was not that flavorful, just regular. The beans were delicious. It also came with a cheese filled tostada that was tasty. Their cheeses are good. I only give a five star if I can't find any room for improvement. Based on this one visit, perfecto! I had really high hopes for this place, lots of locals eating here but alas I was disappointed. The place is laid out nice, very authentic looking. I sat in the bar area. Staff is friendly and attentive but the food I had was not great. I forget the name of the dish but it was Jalapenos stuffed with shrimp wrapped with cheese and bacon. You get 5 of these served on rice for $20. Problem is they were way over cooked (deep fried I think) so the shrimp gets kinda rubbery. Oh well, I'll wash it down with a margarita......not happening. Whatever mix they use tasted like green cool-aid, yuck. Anyway if your passing thru and get a hankering for good Mexican food, move on down the road a little. read more

La Casona is a very good chain Restraunt I have eaten at this paticular one 2 times. They have another one in lake Jackson that is alot better especially there chicken soup. All in all la casona has a good variety and good with great customer service. They still need to improve the soup though lol. Today 2/13/12, I ordered carryout, I called in 2x orders of chicken quesadillas and 1x chicken, beef and shrimp fajitas. I was informed quesadillas did not come with rice and beans so I made to orders of rice aswell, also if I wanted salsa I would have to pay $1.20 extra ( which I did ). Upon ordering I got one small thing of rice and no beans for entire order. And 2 shrimp and a small amount of beef with my fajita order ( I included a picture). I called and informed them of the situation, the only compensation I was offered was to come back and pick up my rice and I got a free cup of queso dip. read more

I would guess I eat here at least once, if not twice, a week! Super great restaurant and there is no better Mexican Food to be found in Bay City,TX! Great staff that are always friendly! But if you want the best waitress you have to ask for Ruby! The margaritas are always exceptional and the Mexican Guacamole is incredible! I can promise you will not walk away from here hungry! This place is a joke. We had a to-go order of veggie fajitas and and a rice and bean burrito with NO CHEESE, and we told them that multiple times due to a bad food allergy with dairy. The food was good. The service was poor. Some of the worst I've had. I asked for a burrito with red chili sauce on the side. He acted like he had no idea what I was talking about. He then said there was red sauce on the table pointing at the salsa. I told him never mind. I'll take the burrito as it is. He then delivered the burrito with a side of red sauce. Visited this location a few weeks back. The service was ok, food was good. I paid with my debit card and leave a cash tip as usual. When I saw my bank transactions I found that the waitress gave herself a $10 tip. She made more than that with the cash that was left behind so that was really wrong. Friendly staff, so welcoming! Very good warmed salsa. I love Bay City, there is just something about it and this restaurant has been a hit with my husband and I over the years when we visit this charming town. I'm an ethical vegetarian and the Spinach Enchiladas are wonderful, I exchange the cream sauce for their red sauce sans the cheese and I'm a happy camper. The food is consistent and I love the view of the old 'Wonderful Life' house across the street. What can I say? One of my favorite restaurants! La Casona is one of my happy places! read more
