I only gave this restaurant 4 stars because our server, Jonathan, was respectful, attentive, and provided great service throughout our meal. The restaurant itself looked the part and so did the food. ..The atmosphere and presentation of the food were exactly what you'd expect from an authentic Mexican restaurant....Unfortunately, the flavor just wasn't there. We ordered the ceviche..it was lazily slapped together..let's say it's "rustic" style it had about 1oz of tomatoes and a 1/4 of red onion with 3 colossal shrimp cut into chunks in it and a half of avocado for $13. We ordered two kids' enchiladas with rice and beans, a kids' quesadilla, an order of flautas, and a horchata. While everything looked great, almost every dish lacked seasoning and depth of flavor. Ironically, the most flavorful thing we had was the salsa but it came in such a tiny bowl that it was gone after literally four chips. It was about the size of just over a ketchup cup, which wasn't nearly enough for the basket of chips. The horchata was also disappointing. It tasted more like watered-down milk than the rich, cinnamon-flavored drink i was expecting. If you're looking for authentic, bold hispanic flavors, this may leave you disappointed. However, if you're looking for a more diluted, americanized mexican restaurant, this may be exactly what you're looking for. La Catrina was a great stop in Cocoa Beach, while on vacation. The patio was packed, for good reason. The food was really good, not the best I have ever had, but really good. The portion sizes are big, so pack an appetite. I ordered a burrito California, which ended up being the size of my forearm. My wife got the flautas with Birria and my daughter came for the churros. Only reason this spot didn't get a 5/5 in my personal view is little things. Horchata is a staple for a Mexican Restaurant n sadly I feel like it just tasted too fake, not traditional. Tacos were flavorful but VERY VERY skimpy on the portions for $17! Other than that, service was good. Location was phenomenal! read more

All I did was order chicken nuggets and tenders, and they were burnt to a crisp. They were black as my husband. and he is a Nigerian Prince. my fajitas were not good at all. They tasted like garbage juice. then they went to charge me a gratuity of 75 extra dollars for my party of seven like that's an issue. And I had three kids that was my thing and they all ordered the same thing. I am never coming back here again. There was a flies in my drink. read more

My husband and I were looking for a Mexican restaurant to eat at. We chased two other places that had better reviews before we ended up here. Let me just say I do not recommend eating here at all. The menus had the print coming off so you couldn't really tell what was being offered. The restaurant was not clean. It was not clear as to how you enter the restaurant to begin with as it appeared it was all outdoor seating. We had to ask to be sure where you come in by. We were seated and handed the menus. They brought us chips and salsa. The chips were very crispy and the salsa had a nice kick. I ordered a steak quesadilla. When they brought me my plate it did not look fresh. The gentleman who brought it out made it appear as if it was hot. Well my rice and beans were cold. Like room temperature. The quesadilla was dripping grease and I could not tell what kind of steak that was but it was greasy. Lots of dough for the quesadilla. I could not eat it. I did not care for that at all. My server was no where to be found as he had to be chased down. And he said he was sorry out of obligation. I did t get charged for my meal as I didn't eat it. I'm glad he did the right thing. My husband said the quesabirria tacos were good. They looked greasy. Very oily. We left a minimal 15% tip but honestly I didnt really have any real service. I wouldn't come back. I was very disappointed and it honestly made it where I do not want to attempt to eat Mexican food for a while. read more

The huge patio with fun decor made me feel like I was on vacation! The Al Pastor bowl was some of the best Al pastor I've had so far on the coast (will def be returning to try the taco version) - the bowl had the perfect combo of savory char with the sweetness of pineapple. Got the large sangria which was tasty and my husband got a beer pitcher. Our total was $70 for the two of us, but we left very full and satisfied. Portions are large! Came in with my family and both men at the counter were on their phones. We waited and it took them a few minutes to recognize we were there and we were finally seated by a guy in a cowboy hat. Then our waitress could not speak English. We ordered a pitcher of margaritas and it never came! We were halfway through our food when the server realized she forgot. We just told her never mind as we weren't going to sit and wait longer just to drink a pitcher. We had to ask for chip and water refills, as the waitress was not even paying attention. The food is mediocre and it's not worth a return trip to be ignored. By the way there were hardly any diners besides us. So no excuses. read more

Party of seven, so they automatically added gratuity--which would have been fine if the service deserved it. The fountain soda tasted more like fountain water than an actual soft drink. My food came out burnt, so I sent it back... only for it to come back even more burnt. That's almost impressive. Our waiter spent more time daydreaming than checking on the table, and communication was a real challenge. The restaurant was also full of flies. I felt like I was eating a fly-jita instead of a fajita. Then came the aftermath. The first bite hit my stomach like a NASCAR race, and I was sprinting to the bathroom. Once I got there, I had to hold my nose because there was no ventilation or A/C. It was unbearable. All in all, we spent about $150 and every dollar felt wasted. We honestly would've had a better meal at Taco Bell. Save your money and eat somewhere else. read more

Sometimes things happen for a reason and tonight was one of those times. I was really craving Japanese and was disappointed when we arrived and we were rudely told it was going to be a long wait, we left and thank goodness otherwise we never would have stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The decor is lively and fun from the moment you step onto the outdoor dining area and is carried on indoors. Everyone we encountered was polite and helpful. We took our time reviewing the extensive menu before finally deciding on what to order. Good came out in a reasonable amount of time , not to quick so you knew it was assembled to order. Everything had great flavor and authenticity. I had the 3 color enchiladas and they were amazing. Prices are on par with other local restaurants and serving sizes plentiful. It was horrible! Not only does anyone in there speak a lick of english, but they got my order wrong. The salsa was spoiled, the queso fundido wasn't even made with the right kind of cheese. Then, a roach, a literal cockroach walked all over the table. The food was mediocre, and when the bill came they added something to it that we didn't even receive. We often ask people were to eat locally, and the front desk guy wasn't wrong about this place. It was a short drive from our hotel in Cocoa Beach. They had free parking. It is just off A1A. As soon as you sit down the chips and salsa are at your table. My wife ordered the Chili's Rellenos, and I had the Chili verda burrito. We also ordered a jumbo pineapple margarita. There were fresh chunks of pineapple in it. Reminder don't forget to eat the pineapple after because we forgot and regretted it later...probably was delicious. Both entrees were delicious and we enjoyed them. With everything not including tip is was around $55 dollars for the dinner and the one drink. We loved it, definitely we be back. read more

I'm from California, don't hold that against me, but we do know our Mexican food. I ordered the Pollo Mole. My guest ordered tacos and Carnitas. We found the Carnitas dry and the tacos were so so. The service was fine and the ambience was very nice. I would have to say the food was so so at best so so. This place was so good! We needed a place open late on a Friday after our flight was delayed and this was perfect. The portions were huge and it was really tasty. The server spoke to us in Spanish but luckily we were well versed enough to order and get what we needed. The price was fair and it seems like there's a ton of space for larger parties. We were lured in by the rating and decor. To start with, service was not great. There was barely anyone there, but we were left sitting over 10 minutes after drinks before our orders were taken. We had to flag someone down for more chips. Our drinks were never refilled. In fact, once we had our food we weren't checked on again until we were done. The best thing I can say about the food is the queso was good. Not a single person in our group liked their food. Two people didn't even get what was ordered. The rice was worst Mexican rice I've ever had. It had no flavor at all. The refried beans had to be out of a can and watered down. They were runny and not like any I've ever had before. Each of our dishes had very little meat and not much flavor. It was a HUGE disappointment for the amount of money we spent. We regularly eat Mexican food at different places, and this was not it! Nice Taco Tuesday - they have a great selection of Taco's that are discounted. The house margarita is $5.00 during Taco Tuesday till 6pm and maybe other happy hour days? They do offer reservations for larger parties. Plenty of outside (nice deck) and inside seating. Big parking lot. Enjoy!! read more

Our dinner was delicious (I had the Bacon Quesadilla), the service was excellent .... but this might be the best margarita my wife and I have ever tasted.
