La Catrina was a great stop in Cocoa Beach, while on vacation. The patio was packed, for good reason. The food was really good, not the best I have ever had, but really good. The portion sizes are big, so pack an appetite. I ordered a burrito California, which ended up being the size of my forearm. My wife got the flautas with Birria and my daughter came for the churros. Everything was pretty darn tasty. Service was good. The patio was definitely a beautiful spot. Give it a try while in the Cocoa Beach area

Only reason this spot didn't get a 5/5 in my personal view is little things. Horchata is a staple for a Mexican Restaurant n sadly I feel like it just tasted too fake, not traditional. Tacos were flavorful but VERY VERY skimpy on the portions for $17! Other than that, service was good. Location was phenomenal!

Currently at La Catrina! I was a little skeptical at first, but as soon as I opened the door, I could smell all the wonderful Mexican food goodness! I only have chips and dips and a delicious house margarita right now but I'll check back once I get my food. You'll see why I'm doing this review first once you check out the photos

Carnitas tacos meal. -1 star for the measly teaspoon of beans!

Love this place!! The food is delicious and the servers are outstanding! The portion size of beans is a joke tho.

My husband and I were looking for a Mexican restaurant to eat at. We chased two other places that had better reviews before we ended up here. Let me just say I do not recommend eating here at all. The menus had the print coming off so you couldn't really tell what was being offered. The restaurant was not clean. It was not clear as to how you enter the restaurant to begin with as it appeared it was all outdoor seating. We had to ask to be sure where you come in by. We were seated and handed the menus. They brought us chips and salsa. The chips were very crispy and the salsa had a nice kick. I ordered a steak quesadilla. When they brought me my plate it did not look fresh. The gentleman who brought it out made it appear as if it was hot. Well my rice and beans were cold. Like room temperature. The quesadilla was dripping grease and I could not tell what kind of steak that was but it was greasy. Lots of dough for the quesadilla. I could not eat it. I did not care for that at all. My server was no where to be found as he had to be chased down. And he said he was sorry out of obligation. I did t get charged for my meal as I didn't eat it. I'm glad he did the right thing. My husband said the quesabirria tacos were good. They looked greasy. Very oily. We left a minimal 15% tip but honestly I didnt really have any real service. I wouldn't come back. I was very disappointed and it honestly made it where I do not want to attempt to eat Mexican food for a while.

The huge patio with fun decor made me feel like I was on vacation! The Al Pastor bowl was some of the best Al pastor I've had so far on the coast (will def be returning to try the taco version) - the bowl had the perfect combo of savory char with the sweetness of pineapple. Got the large sangria which was tasty and my husband got a beer pitcher. Our total was $70 for the two of us, but we left very full and satisfied. Portions are large! Would definitely return and bring a group!

Good Mexican food located on the 520 causeway in Cocoa Beach. Service is quick and polite. It's very casual and pretty clean inside. Great outdoor area.

Sometimes things happen for a reason and tonight was one of those times. I was really craving Japanese and was disappointed when we arrived and we were rudely told it was going to be a long wait, we left and thank goodness otherwise we never would have stumbled upon this amazing restaurant. The decor is lively and fun from the moment you step onto the outdoor dining area and is carried on indoors. Everyone we encountered was polite and helpful. We took our time reviewing the extensive menu before finally deciding on what to order. Good came out in a reasonable amount of time , not to quick so you knew it was assembled to order. Everything had great flavor and authenticity. I had the 3 color enchiladas and they were amazing. Prices are on par with other local restaurants and serving sizes plentiful. I look forward to returning to this hidden gem!

Eventually, a man walked by and said he'd be with us shortly. Five minutes later, he returned we asked if we could be seated outside with a smile he said yes. He was pleasant. We waited outside for about 10 minutes until someone came to take our order. I'm not sure if they were shorthanded or what the deal was, but it was a lot of waiting to not be very busy inside, but we were hungry and wanted to try the food so we gave them a chance. Our waitress was nice. My mother ordered a vegetable burrito. My daughter ordered a cheese quesadilla. My cousin ordered a chicken and beef taco and I ordered vegetable quesadilla. We also had rice, black beans, chips, and salsa, queso, and guacamole . The food came out hot. I had no complaints at all on the food. Everything was delicious. The cheese was a little runny, but it didn't matter because it was so good. I will definitely be back to that location. I might try sitting at the bar. It looked pretty inviting from the front door. We all had a great time.

We arrive at 8 pm (not busy at all). Find out they have NO taco Tuesday special...okay moving on. Service was super slow and inattentive (like got more chips but salsa was empty). I got the veggie quesadillas but added beef. Our food arrives 45 minutes later! So at 8:45 I get my quesadilla with no beef and literally no cheese to speak off. (See photo). I basically paid $15 for two tortilla shells with a bunch of pepper and onions. Honestly, I usually compliment restaurants as I know they work hard but this place was ridiculous. Nothing was done to correct the experience and I left paying for all our meals like I'd have scored better at Taco Bell. I will definitely never go back. Too bad for them too as I now live nearby and tend to eat Mexican food often. Or maybe they don't care. Not one thing about the experience felt like they were happy to have customers. I'd have given it a 1 star but we did eat our food as we were literally starving.

However, when we got there (this place is inside a resort lobby area), two young women were at the front of the place and did not greet us at all. The other asked us to wait a moment and left us standing there looking at our takeout. I walked in and looked around and was finally able to wave down the guy who took our order. He was busy waiting on a table. The women had disappeared. As far as quality of food, it was okay. We had cheese enchiladas and also the seafood enchiladas with rice and beans. We also ordered the taco dinner that had 3 beef tacos on it. Those were the best and most flavorful. We were given chips and salsa at no extra charge, so that was a nice surprise. We would eat there again but stick with the tacos in the future.

Clean, nice ambiance, prices were very fair too. Please ignore my taco pic as I had to hurry and it was swinging! My personal favorite was the Chicharron taco and it was fried to perfection! It was crispy without losing flavor or juiciness. Just the right amount of spice too. The tinga taco also has as very tasty and the cheese was a bonus. The sangria was flavorful and refreshing; I personally prefer sangria Blanca but this was tasty and not heavy. Just a hint of cinnamon to liven it up. I will try a sit down meal with them and soon! Jamaica and fresca were delicious and genuinely fresh, a must with this kind of food. Though we were not here for a full dinner, we were told the queso fundido was a must try and it was! They sat a charded jalapeno dead center and mixing it all together took it to the next level. The tacos were underwhelming though. I had steak, chicken tinga and chicharron, the chicken tinga blew them away flavor wise. I did like the attention to detail and bite size of the chicharron. The tortilla itself was offputting texture wise. You couldn't fold it without ripping. We are willing to try again, we will see in the future!

Simply can't wait to return. The long version says the following: The location is easy to get too, and the inside of the restaurant is visually appealing. Though I do lean towards the beachy, tropical theme of things, this place does it without being kitschy or tacky. Though I expected the inside to have been wholly remodeled since the last restaurant that was a tenant here - it really had not. Instead, they updated the seating, bar, and outside to their taste - which is good, IMHO. I really liked the use of tablets for their menus. This was novel to me as I had never experienced it until I came here. The tablets worked well and even so, you got a feel for how extensive their menu truly is. Food-wise, there were no complaints around the table. I had their pork bowl which not only comes out hot and fresh, but copious - I just couldn't finish it - they piled on the food with what appeared to be wild abandon. My wife had their fajita plate which was massive. That definitely ended up going home with us. Desserts were their flan which had a flavor I had not expected, maybe not to true style, but definitely rich and delicious. No complaints here. Service was not only friendly but patient with us as we had plenty of questions for being our first time here, but it wasn't as attentive as I would have like. I think the waiter was overstretched in tables, but he still did an overall great job with us. In short, the newest Mexican restaurant in the area represents very well, and we are looking forward to our next trip back, hopefully very soon...

From a food standpoint alone, I'd absolutely come back. That said, the experience was a bit confusing and ended on a frustrating note. We weren't asked whether our order was for here or to go, and after ordering, our group of five sat down (we pulled together five chairs) and waited for our food. Despite that, everything came out in to-go packaging. When we walked in, we noticed other tables dining in had bottles with three different types of salsa available. However, we were only given a very small portion in a to-go container. I went up to grab a pineapple Jarrito and asked if we could use the salsa bottles since we were eating there. Instead, I was told no and that we had already been given to-go salsa--and they also tried to charge me extra for additional salsa. What made it more frustrating was that when I explained we were dining in, I was told that we had asked for our food to go, which wasn't the case. No one in our group was asked, and we had clearly sat down to eat inside. It felt unnecessarily rigid and dismissive, especially since we brought in a group of five and spent over $70. The food was genuinely great, but the lack of communication and flexibility on the service side made the experience feel awkward and disappointing. I'd still recommend the place for the food, but hopefully the service improves.
