A dear friend wanted us to go out to dinner so she recommended this restaurant. She and her family come here often. I didn't realize how often until she was talking to all of the staff and using their names! She made a reservation although it wasn't crowded on the Wednesday night we went in. I started with a salad and had a chicken dish for dinner that was very good. She enjoyed soup to start and chicken Marsala which she loved. Our waiter was wonderful and the hostess was friendly. They had a man playing the piano which is such a nice touch and you don't see that much anymore.

TAKEOUT REVIEW Can't speak to the cuisine served in the spacious but dark dining rooms, but the takeout seems like a separate operation going out the back door of Cena Ristorante in Bensalem, PA. When I entered the front door, a server informed me that I should walk through the restaurant to the rear entrance to the patio, turn right, and go into the other door which was propped open. Once there I saw a counter with kitchen equipment behind it, and a couple dudes aproned up for food service. My personal sized pizza and cheese steak hoagie were already boxed and ready to head out the door. Maybe using this Slice app would be acceptable. At least the food was ready as advertised. Upon opening at the kitchen table, I beheld a 12" pie with heavy cheese, and lighter puddles of red sauce, mozza droppings and a scattering of green basil leaf. Looked sort of like a child's drawing of a clown face. The cheese steak hoagie was more handsome, with goodly amount of thin grilled beef mixed with cheese (provolone?), topped with lettuce, tomato and red onion. Liked it. Taste was uneven. The pizza had too much cheese and not enough of anything else. Even still warm it was out of balance, with the crust its strongest attribute. The sandwich was good and hung together well in the torpedo. Won't be rushing back for takeout, but the broader menu for in house dining might be worth a try aside from the tomato pie.

We had a 5pm reservation; we were the only table in restaurant. We were visiting from out of town and had a show in Philadelphia at 7:30. Our food took 50 min to come out. Felt a little rushed after that to be on time. We ordered specials, my wife got filet Mignon stuffed with spinach and prosciutto. The sauce on the filet was mushroom sauce, and had whole peppercorns in it. They were a tad overpowering and there was an abundance of them. I got the crab bisque, very tasty, not much crab meat though (but we are from Ocean City, Maryland). I also got a caprese salad made with smoked mozzarella, very interesting flavor. Our server was excellent! The decor was lovely. Very clean. We both got cocktails, they were very pretty and tasty.

Worse, you might decide to just drive on, and miss a straight up very good meal. There are a few small dining areas in the building in addition to a large back kitchen and prepping/cashier zone up front. Attractively utilitarian, all. Room to stand and wait for your order without feeling cramped, as I was doing as my two hot sandwiches were working. These were taken to go, so when I opened the brown bag at home, I found neatly packaged long torpedo sammies (Boardwalk Sweet Sausage, Pepper and Onion/Eggplant Parm) in separate recyclable styro containers. Naturally, the enclosed bread absorbed some condensation so they were no longer dry and a crunchy bite, but were still delicious. Quality Italian sausage complemented well with the sweet and savory sauteed veggies. Eggplant breaded lightly and pan fried in extra virgin before placed in the roll with mozza and tomato sauce on top, and baked in the pizza oven until all melted into a savory layered tasty ensemble. I bought two to share, and everyone was happy, even the next day when reheated. Service was friendly and casual, and prices reminiscent of pre-pandemic days. Pizza looked good, too, but will have to save comments until I return to sample a few.

I called immediately and ordered a large pizza and a chicken Parm sandwich for our group. Once I got a taste of the chicken Parm sandwich, there was no way anyone else was touching it. It was delectable! The chicken was quality, and it was very tender. The roll was soft in the middle and crunchy on the outside just as it should be. The next day, I was kind of hankering for it again so I called and ordered another chicken Parm sandwich. It was every bit as delectable as the day before. Flash forward two days and I decided I can't go back to the Bay Area without having pizza considering SF pizza is not that good. I ordered the Sicilian. Oh my God! It was the best pizza I have ever eaten. It had to have weighed 20 pounds. I am not kidding you. It has 20 large pieces and it was only $26!! in San Francisco that pizza would cost near $100 bucks. I told my brother-in-law that it was the best pizza I've ever eaten in my life and that is 100% true. The people who work here are smart and amazing and very helpful. Next time I come to town, I'm heading straight for Croydon Pizza. A++++++

I've never really eaten much from these guys because their pizza is more of the New England/Greek style, pan little greasy. Just not my fav. My wife is a huge fan of the chicken in their Caesar Salad so I had to at least try it. The inside is a bit dated, but clean. The staff seemed nice. Menu prices are on the higher end. Their wings in a mild "house sauce" were small and bland. The sauce needed some major work. The Buffalo chicken wrap was drippy and not appetizing. Fries were bland, chicken fingers were small and flavorless. The only thing worth my two visits was the grilled chicken Caesar wrap. The chicken was seasoned well, fresh and delicious. The wrap was well put together with fresh lettuce and the lettuce wasn't drenched in dressing. I'd give them 3.5, but I'd have to try more menu items that are worthwhile for the price. Having said that, the Chicken Caesar wrap/salad are worth a visit.

The seating area has several tables and they sell slices. On my first trip I tried a cheesesteak, my son had a cheeseburger and my youngest had chicken fingers. We brought home mozzarella sticks for my wife to try. The chicken fingers were the smaller/thin, bland frozen type. The burger was sizable, had a nice brioche bun and overall was pretty standard. The mozzarella sticks were "beer battered" and not too bad. My cheesesteak could have used more cheese to melt and mix with the steak. The steak was chopped, but was a better quality than the basic cardboard steak some places serve. The meat wasn't greasy, but was a tad overcooked. The roll was fresh and toasted. I asked for hot peppers and got the standard yellow hot banana. I gave the sandwich an average score. Points for it not being drippy and greasy. On my second visit I ordered a small 12" pizza and asked for it to be cooked well done. It was ready in ten minutes. The crust was fresh and not too soft/not too crispy and thankfully not chewy. Cheese was a tad sweet, stringy and not overly greasy. The sauce was rich and tangy. Tasted like a cross between a pasta and pizza sauce. I thought the pizza was just above average and would repeat. The owner took care of me both times and was extremely nice. I would definitely repeat if I'm in the neighborhood. Thanks guys and best of luck!
