Turns out the dining room is to the left of the door and the first room is basically a fast food take out area. Reminded us of Aldo's in Holland...if you have ever been there. The dining room was basically a no frills kinda place but much nicer than the other side. Love a byob and we had more bottles than people...party time! (Cheers). At the end of the meal Salvatore gave us complimentary choclate lemoncello...amazing. Soooo...the food itself. We started with calamari and also the antipasto. Perfect for sharing and all delicious. Calamari was a good one. I ordered the chicken française, which was even better as leftovers the next day since it marinated in the sauce. Hubs enjoyed his veal Marcella. I tried some of the pasta Al forno with sausage, meatballs, penne, etc. Delicious! I definitely recommend that dish even after just a few bites. The entrees come with soup or salad. The salad veggies were fresh and it was a good size. I tried the pasta fagiole soup but wasn't a big fan. It was underwhelming - lack of seasonings and it could have been hotter in temperature. One thing I thought was odd was our server never asked us if we wanted to order anything to drink. Gave us a pitcher of water and that was it. From the very first phone call to arrange a reservation for a large group, the staff was incredibly kind, friendly, and accommodating. Right away, I had a feeling I had made the right choice. When we arrived, we were immediately impressed by the level of service. The staff had prepared a beautiful table for our group, and from start to finish, the entire experience was exceptional. I'm disappointed that I can't remember all of the servers' names because they truly did an outstanding job. Every one of my guests commented on how delicious the food was. My chicken dish was outstanding--easily one of the best meals I've had in quite some time. The quality of the food, combined with the exceptional service, made for an unforgettable evening. I can't thank the staff enough for everything they did to make our experience so enjoyable. I hope this message reaches the chefs and everyone working behind the scenes because they are incredibly talented and should be proud of the work they do. I'm not sure when I'll be back in the area for another tournament, but one thing is certain: anytime I am nearby, I will absolutely be making a reservation at Fratelli's. The server did offer to get us other options but we had a show at parx and didn't have time to wait for new entrees. I do think this location is beautiful. The garden room where we sat was lovely and the waterfall outside was a beautiful view. The prices were a little higher than most local Italian places. They serve a delicious homemade bread that's warm when it's brought the table. In addition, it's accompanied by a dish of olive oil, with balsamic vinegar and what I believed to be a spicy dusting of pepper. It was a little too spicy for me - however, I did like the addition of the balsamic as a change from just olive oil. I would skip the pepper though, unless you like spice. We ordered the Polpette as an appetizer; it's a 'tradition' of mine. If meatballs are on the menu, I will always order them. These lamb, veal and beef meatballs were very good, and the marinara sauce they came in was excellent! The sauce is actually a 'roasted pomodoro' gravy - which is an 'intensified' version of a classic Italian sauce. It's made by roasting the tomatoes at a very high heat and almost caramelizing them. A little feta was added to the sauce, which really highlighted those meatballs!! We split the order - as 5 meatballs is quite a large appetizer! We decided to share two entrees - the Beef Short Ribs and the Lobster Ravioli. I always ask if the short ribs are lean - our server responded they were very lean...and they were. Soft, tender and very flavorful large chunks of beef, with a deliciously rich gravy with mushrooms on a bed a creamy garlic mashed potatoes! It was a superb dish! The website said the Short Ribs were the restaurant's most popular meal. Next, the Lobster Ravioli. The dish was a very 'delicate' one, with a very subtle brandy cream sauce. It had chopped jumbo shrimp and peeled cherry tomatoes with the raviolis. While the sauce tasted fine, it needed 'something' - we added pepper which helped. The raviolis were good - we couldn't taste lobster in the cheese of the raviolis - we assumed it was there. The chopped shrimps though provided a nice additional seafood flavor. I like my raviolis tender - the kind that almost melt in your mouth. The pasta here was firmer - a little more 'al dente', but it was fine. We ended our meal with the Chocolate Mousse. Served in a martini glass, the mousse had a velvety texture with a deep dark chocolate flavor. It was very rich yet light and fluffy; a good choice for dessert!
