I've had two great recent experiences at Cesare's - one eat in and one take out. The eat in experience was a throwback. The inside has an old school feel, but tasteful and clean with comfy cushioned booths and tiled walls. They had Sinatra and other like crooners playing traditional pop, jazz and swing softly coming through the speakers above. The staff was friendly and prompt with their service. An older fella in a suit sans the jacket came over and thanked us for stopping in. My kid was happy that they had root beer on their fountain machine, so it was a great start for us! We came for the pizza and didn't leave disappointed. The regular cheese pizza we ordered came out hot and fresh after a short wait. The crust was thin and looked well done with dark brown and black bubbled areas, the cheese wasn't dark or orange and the char on the bottom was decent. The crust wasn't paper thin, but not too thick which allowed it to come out crispier while keeping the cheese from overcooking. It had a cracker like flavor and wasn't too firm so it still had a little bit of bend. To me it was a great combination. The sauce was a balance of salty and sweet. It could have used a tad more flavoring, but the amount was right on. I have to say in the area this pizza is tough to beat. The slices weren't stiff, but the cheese wasn't sliding off. Well executed and delicious! I think they had to have $18 for a large. They slice the pies in 12 smaller slices by default. The only con is their boxes. They are thin cardboard and can be a pain to close. The good news is the contents inside were devoured quickly so I'll deal with the box. On my second visit we ordered a large cheese pizza and a tomato pie for take out. When you walk in the pickup area, the open kitchen view shows the crew hard at work behind the counter. You can also see the Blodgett oven churning out pies right up front. They were true to their word on the 15 minute wait. The cheese pizza was just as delicious as the eat in (it lost some of its snappy crust). The tomato pie had a similar crust to the cheese pizza. The sauce was flavored nicely and layered on top of the cheese. It could have used more oil and garlic for my taste, but it was still above average. I hadn't been to Cesare's (my mother would pronounce it Che-sare's, but they call it Caesars) in well over a decade. It's still a great spot for Italian and possibly the best pizza you can get in the area. Thanks guys! read more

I've been going here for years eating there vodka rigatoni. I swore up and down by it but the past few times it seems super bland. The service is always pretty good when I go in the ambience gives off a nice Italian restaurant but all of that means nothing if they keep changing the recipes that brought them business for so long. I'd rather the prices to go up a bit rather than the quality going down. read more

If you love pizza, you have to try their Old Fashion Tomato Pie. It is a super-thin crusted pizza with mozzarella cheese and a wonderfully flavorful tomato sauce. Absolutely delicious! We came with 3 of the family for a Friday night dinner. The space was nice, not too loud, and open space with booths and chairs and tables. The wait staff was efficient and waitress friendly and helpful. The food on the other hand was less than we hoped for. My brother ordered a garlic pasta dish, which he said he could have made it better at home. I had eggplant parmesan which was very small with 6 pieces of 2 inch diameter and very thin fried eggplant, with sauce and just a tad of cheese on the top. The eggplant was spread over the dish to look good, but it was not. It was also very expensive for what I got, $23. None of us liked the taste, although the sauce was good. The third person got the manicotti which was very good with cheese inside. This was the best dish and only dish we said was good. We wondered if it was homemade or frozen. Overall we were disappointed as we had been here before and enjoyed our dinner. To top it off, I was the last one finishing my dish, the wait staff was hovering in order to grab my dish before i finished chewing it, thus clearing all the plates on the table at different times, not waiting for all to be done. It appeared this staff member was being watched and told what to do. It was a bit disconcerting. We do not blame him. While always on the prowl for new pizza I kept seeing this place mentioned as a top contender so of course I have to scientifically see for myself if it is true.Oh boy was it ever so true. A bit out of our normal route but so worth the trip. The sauce was bright and very flavorful perfectly seasoned. We were a party of 8 coming from the Wells Fargo Center in Philly. At the Trans Siberian Orchestra so needless to say all pumped up. One of the couples recommended Cesare's in Bristol as we all live in Bucks County. What a great surprise! The food was fantastic. The servers were amazing, the dining area was Immaculate. I'm not going to bore you with listing all the appetizers we had including the largest pizza we've ever seen. The entrees were great as were the deserts. How's less than $340 for the 8 of us sound? This is an absolute "we will be back" Restaurent for sure. Large lighted parking lot in the back. The owner stoped by the table to chat and thanked us for having dinner with him and if everything was good. When's the last time that ever happened to you? We frequently attend shows at the Bristol Riverfront Theatre which is a 5 minute or so drive to restaurant. Now we have a great place to eat after or before the show. My cousin and I went to eat @ Cesare's in Bristol 3:30 pm 2/27!! My husband and I live in the town next to this place. It was her first time there, and I kept telling her how great it was ... I so wish we had taken a picture of the Stuffed Mushrooms Appetizer we had ordered. It came out sitting in a brown, balsamic-consistency liquid which we thought nothing of until we each took one bite and almost spit it out ... it was immersed in Worcestershire sauce [it doesn't say ANYTHING about that in description on their digital or printed menus]. Buyer beware.... We just assumed they would take it off the bill but before I got a chance to say, "we'd like it taken off our bill", the waitress comes back and says, "a couple of them tasted it, including the owner, and said it was fine?!?!!" As she's telling us this, a guy comes out of the kitchen with his sunglasses hanging on end of his nose as he is looking over top of those glasses [I've since learned that the creeper is the owner, Donny; who didn't have the common courtesy to even come to our table, at minimum, to offer us a different appetizer!]. It was quite obvious that he was only looking to find the girls who sent back the "fine" mushrooms!! Our waitress was cool though!! I know it's not going to hurt them nor do they seem to care, but I will never eat there again ~ we were unnecessarily treated like 2nd class citizens!! My cousin is an excellent cook and a "foody" and said, "they didn't look like the most fresh mushrooms ~ they were probably trying to doll them up!" It's sad to report this restaurant has declined so much. There were 3 of us. To start with the sodas we ordered were flat as an ice picked tire and had a very similar after taste like the tire. They used have great stuffed mushrooms. I can't tell you if they are still good. Why you ask, they were out of mushrooms, all types of mushrooms. This mid range restaurant is also a pizza shop as well. So an Italian restaurant/pizza shop without mushrooms is like going to McDonald's and hearing they're out of burgers. We ended up having mozzarella sticks which ended tasting like a dish washing sponge. Dawn anyone? I had the veal and shrimp scampi. 4 small shrimp and 3 tiny medallions of veal served atop a puddle of water with very small portion of linguini. The whole tasted of nothing but reconstituted lemon juice. I won't burden you with the others disappointing meals. Then we all ordered our favorite dessert they offer, homemade biscotti. It particularly great warm. We that was a big mistake, They burned it the heating process. Here's the kicker, the heated on a grill, yes char marks just like a steak. Not a good idea folks. Horrendous! I went to this restaurant upon my family's recommendation I ordered a simple pasta dish to be cooked very al dente. When it arrived it was not cooked al dente so we asked the waitress to send it back. The waitress returned and said the chef refused to remake it but he would make something else or take it off of the bill as they were very busy. We asked to speak with the manager or owner and she said the owner was involved in the conversation with the chef. The manger came over and reiterated the refusal due to being very busy. The owner and manger are both well known to my family yet the owner never came over to' explain ' or make it right. We even stuck around until the tables emptied out to see if they would offer to make it then but to no avail TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE I WILL NEVER GO BACK !!! Went on a Monday around dinner time place was packed! Which was a good sign got the last table available. Service was quick ordered the bacon wrapped scallops & shrimp as app and went with the special $6 tomato pies on Monday's added sausage bonus points for them having red cream soda! Food took a little bit but was expected for how busy they were, pizza came out perfect however the scallops had a weird fishy taste almost as if they were about to spoil. Excellent Italian food. The pizza is amazing and I was surprised to see (after our visit) that the pizza actually was reviewed and given a really high score by Barstool sports too! I was with a large party and everyone loved their meal. The wait staff are amazing and so friendly. The owners walk around and check in with the guests, they know the majority of their customers because they get so much repeat business. I don't know if they were having an off night, but we were disappointed with our dinner. I ordered a Ceasar salad and it was iceberg lettuce and about 4 croutons, very sad for the price. It took way too long for our waitress to take our order. We were there at 6, at 6:45 we still did not have our food. We ordered sandwiches and salads. Very bad experience today. We're regular customers. A new waiter took our order pretty quickly. I ordered an individual pizza and my wife ordered penne pasta with light sauce. Due to GERD and reflux issues, she can't tolerate a lot of tomato sauce or it will wreak havoc on her stomach. We also both ordered Caesar salads. After a 20 minute wait, the waiter finally delivered the salads. No bread was delivered which was disappointing and we had to ask for it. I'm about 2 minutes into eating my salad and then the waiter delivers my pizza and not my wife's order. I felt awkward eating my pizza while she was waiting for her pasta. Finally the waiter brings her pasta and it's loaded with sauce. She tried to scrape some off into an extra dish, but there was too much of it. She ended up not eating it all. The dinner was ruined. We weren't charged for the pasta, but they still charged us for everything else. For long time, regular customers, we got shabby treatment and we won't be back. read more

Absolutely love this place. There's just something about it that screams "classy" and "unique"; it's truly a staple of the Bristol food industry. Although I've only eaten in--and have had only pizza each time--let me tell you, the pizza is to die for. It's so crisp, so soft, so tasty; each bite is so succulent and wonderful. They play Frank Sinatra nonstop. As much as I enjoy that, I can imagine that it would be an annoyance to somebody else. Nevertheless, I found it to be utmost classy and enjoyable. My father had been taking me here since I was very young. As I got older and started working for/with my father, we would go at least once a week for lunch (sometimes more). Then even older, I would go to lunch on my own and started taking dates to dinner there ('90s). This place always has a fancy, laid back Italian setting. I have Never had a complaint nor ever have had one single bad meal here at Cesares in like over 40 (! Yes 40) years!!! Raviolis and gnocchis are my absolute fave here! Cheesesteaks are outstanding. We stopped in here last night after leaving a viewing. We were tired after a long day of work and a depressing evening. We were really craving some good Italian comfort food. Upon entering a very nice man greeted us and asked us to sit wherever we felt comfortable. He was very nice. So far so good. Then a young waiter came to take our drink order and asked us if we wanted to see the specials. We said yes and he rolled over a big tv screen thing that scrolled thru the specials. He also brought our sodas. Then he promptly disappeared for about 20 minutes. The nice older guy came by and we told him we lost our waiter. Finally the waiter came back and too our orders. I got Italian roast pork and broccoli rabe sandwich and my husband orders chicken parm sandwich. About half hour later the waiter brought our food. Mine came with fries and my husbands did not. Mine was very good but my husbands sandwich was barely edible. It was basically a few chicken nuggets with some sauce and cheese on top. But worst of all the bottom of the roll was burned to a crisp! We didn't want to make a scene and God forbid send it back. I'm always fearful the staff will do something horrible to any food that gets sent back! When he finally came back to check up on us and asked how our food was we told and showed him the burned roll. All he said was "do you want me to bring a new roll?" We will never go back!
