Carnitas Burrito
Stephanie T.

everyone is super sweet. I made a mistake in my first review. There is salsa and other toppings near the back. The nachos and birria are great. Free chips with burritos. Heck yeah...!!!!! I see some yelp complaints on the price of food, but one burrito is around 15 dollars and a colloidal heap of nachos is around the same price.... Very reasonable imo

Had the carne asada burrito for $13.71 including tax. Anna was friendly and was kind enough the give me cold water in a nice decanter with the plastic cup . The food was good .. not salty..You can always add more salt or more salsa which was provided for you on the back of the store. Although the cups for the salsa were small and they gave you only a few chipsl, you can get more salsa. There's 3 difference salsas, pickled carrots, jalapeno peppers, and pickled radishes. I got confused when I came in here, they bought new menus and that was okay but they still had their old menu on the wall they should take that down so they don't confused the pricing of menu. Restaurant manager, owner or staff should take down the old pricing ... doesn't take that long to do.

Always wanting to support a new local business, hubby and I came here on a rainy Saturday night. There were a few folks waiting for take out but otherwise empty. We looked at the menu taped on the counter and hanging on butcher paper on the wall and decided on taco salads. I got the carnitas and hubby got pollo. And, added a birria taco because I've never had one. The taco meat was very tender but not as juicy or messy as other places and no dipping sauce. I'd eat this again. The salads have all fresh veggies (romaine, cherry tomatoes), black beans, cotija cheese, roasted kernels of corn and a nice scoop of guac. My salad had a fair amount of meat but not hubby's. He had to dig around because he thought they forgot. The carnitas were fine. They were missing the burnt bits synonymous with the meat being fried. The shell wasn't anything to write home about. So, the meal was okay. Everyone talks about the fried fish tacos which we may need to try. The decor has been refreshed which is nice. Parking is very easy I do wish the business well. Please be more generous with the portions.

Really nice find. The food was solid with a lot of beef. I just asked for less rice, and I think they added more of everything else. Great flavor, great texture and the salsas are homemade and excellent. They have a salsa bar of different salsas and condiments. The service was really good and the people are very nice. We will definitely be back.

I was here on a short business trip and stopped by for a meal because I was craving Mexican food. Looking at the menu, I was amazed at the different options and variety of drinks they offered. Had to try the Ube horchata, birria, burritos, and the tacos. Everything came out pretty quickly and the meats were tender, good quality, and filling. I would say the ube horchata was refreshing, but after a while, it felt too sweet for me. I'm not complaining about getting such a big cup of it, but I definitely think 2 people can share 1 drink and be really satisfied. I also got some carne asada fries (not pictured), and those were also bomb. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the friendly staff, food, and was pleasantly surprised at my experience. Will definitely come back!

If you're looking for something a little different, the wood-fired plates are definitely worth trying--they add a great smoky flavor that really stands out. Between the welcoming atmosphere, great food, and comfortable indoor-outdoor seating, Rancho Cantina is a place I'll keep coming back to. Drinks were had, quite tasty: the house old fashion & the hibiscus paloma. The mains: an order of the red sauce enchiladas with chicken & the salmon with chimichurri sauce. The red sauce tasted more like a tomato base versus a red chile sauce, not my thing. The salmon was prepared well. Ambiance - casual; there's both inside & outside seating. Willing to try again. They're opening a second restaurant in Danville, hoping to try it once they open.

The place is spotless, super clean, and you can tell they take pride in how they run things. The customer service is top notch, the owner personally greeted us and made sure everything was good, which made the experience even better. The menu has an amazing selection, and the flavor profiles are incredible across the board. We actually spent a few days in Walnut Creek and didn't mind making the drive to Orinda just to get some authentic Mexican food. Long story short, we ended up moving out of state, and now every time we visit California, this is a must-stop spot for us. (come on we all know the best Mexican food is in CA - Bay Area). If you like beer, they also have a solid selection, including a refreshing hazy IPA. Thank you for that, Mauro! We've been here on three different occasions and made it a point to try something new each time. We went through all the tacos, my girlfriend's favorites were the lengua and chorizo. And let me tell you, chorizo is hard to get right, but Mauro nailed it, perfect texture and amazing flavor. The lengua tacos are not for everyone, but Baja Cali nailed the preparation of this meat, because they were amazing, you actually get the desired flavor. And the asada tacos are a must, meat quality is there. The chicken enchiladas? You can't go wrong, great cheese balance and flavor. The super burritos are top notch too. Some places skimp on the meat, but not here, everything is well portioned and perfectly balanced. And the salsas... they have it all, from mild to spicy, each with its own unique flavor and they're all My personal favorite was the aguachiles. The freshness of the seafood and the layers of flavor were incredible. I had it twice, first day was the way the house serves it (nice and spicy), and the second day I asked for it to be mild and both were amazing. Thank you chef. And if you are not sure what you want, ask the staff, they do know their menu. Andrea kindly advised to try the quesabirrias, and they deserves its own shoutout crispy, cheesy, packed with flavor, and served with that rich consommé that takes it to another level. You can taste the depth in the broth, and every bite is juicy and satisfying. Easily one of the best we've had. Once again, that broth man! (unfortunately we didn't get a photo of that since we were eager to try them) We're already looking forward to coming back to California, and as soon as we land, we'll be coming in hot for some real Mexican food. Thank you, Baja Cali Taqueria & Grill family, we love you guys. EDIT: The prices are very fair for the quality you're getting. Good, authentic food is worth it, and here you truly get what you pay for fresh ingredients, generous portions, and flavors that hit every time.

Located in a strip mall with a large grocery store and other establishments, parking was a bit tough around lunchtime but spaces were available. The second I walked in I could clearly see that this was a local hotspot, drawing in a crowd of area residents, locals, and professionals. Almost every table was occupied on a Friday around noon. The large cheese quesadilla was fantastic! It came in four huge, cheesy portions (served on a paper plate with foil) and was definitely among the best I've had in while. In addition to that, I ordered their carne asada and fish super burrito, super wet vegetarian burrito, side of chips and guac. The prices here are very reasonable! I asked the cashier whether to order the shrimp or the fish, and their recommendation to get the fish was a good call! The fish burrito was generously filled (see the cross-section photo!), and I especially appreciated the sour cream. Simply delicious! The carne asada burrito was equally excellent. The meat had a wonderful charred flavor. We loved the cheesy sauce on our wet burrito. I may have to get that next time with the fish burrito. Don't forget to order a side of guac, it was $6 for 8oz. The guac was fresh, chunky, and had an abundance of cilantro which we love. There's also a self-serve salsa bar with Salsa verde, mild, and medium salsas along with pickled vegetables, limes, etc. The cashier who took our order was friendly and incredibly welcoming. When I mentioned it was my first visit, she was genuinely appreciative of our business. I noticed there was no tipping option available on the electronic payment screen during my transaction. Fortunately, I had cash on hand and was able to leave a tip in the jar.

As I entered, I eyed Cholita Linda, and since we had already eaten at the place near us, I knew what we wanted and would enjoy for our late lunch or early dinner... a Cubano! For those who might not know, a traditional Cubano sandwich is made with Cuban bread (a white bread loaf with a thin, crispy crust and a soft, airy inside. Usually, a moist palmetto leaf is placed on top of the dough before baking to create its signature split), Mojo-marinated roasted pork (slow-roasted in a marinade made of sour orange juice, garlic, oregano, and cumin), glazed ham (sweet, deli-style sliced ham), Swiss cheese, dill pickles, and yellow mustard. Of course, here in the US, the recipe is adjusted based on the location and available ingredients, but the core stays the same, which makes for a delicious sandwich. Cholita Linda's Cubano is made with pulled pork shoulder, black forest ham, mustard, pickles, aioli, and Swiss cheese on grilled French bread. Trust me when I tell you that it is a delicious version! Anyway, this location is very well managed and maintained. The staff are friendly and the place is clean and nicely kept. They have tables inside and outside the mall. On a warm day, you might prefer to sit outside and enjoy the fresh air while you eat.
