The next day I had the other half and it was beyond excellent. The flavors just all blended together. It was fantastic. The service is very friendly, and the ambience is fine for just sit down and wolf down some tacos, but I think most customers are takeout. They seem very dedicated to making really really good food, and I would certainly be back.

I was here on a short business trip and stopped by for a meal because I was craving Mexican food. Looking at the menu, I was amazed at the different options and variety of drinks they offered. Had to try the Ube horchata, birria, burritos, and the tacos. Everything came out pretty quickly and the meats were tender, good quality, and filling. I would say the ube horchata was refreshing, but after a while, it felt too sweet for me. I'm not complaining about getting such a big cup of it, but I definitely think 2 people can share 1 drink and be really satisfied. I also got some carne asada fries (not pictured), and those were also bomb. Overall, I genuinely enjoyed the friendly staff, food, and was pleasantly surprised at my experience. Will definitely come back!

The place is spotless, super clean, and you can tell they take pride in how they run things. The customer service is top notch, the owner personally greeted us and made sure everything was good, which made the experience even better. The menu has an amazing selection, and the flavor profiles are incredible across the board. We actually spent a few days in Walnut Creek and didn't mind making the drive to Orinda just to get some authentic Mexican food. Long story short, we ended up moving out of state, and now every time we visit California, this is a must-stop spot for us. (come on we all know the best Mexican food is in CA - Bay Area). If you like beer, they also have a solid selection, including a refreshing hazy IPA. Thank you for that, Mauro! We've been here on three different occasions and made it a point to try something new each time. We went through all the tacos, my girlfriend's favorites were the lengua and chorizo. And let me tell you, chorizo is hard to get right, but Mauro nailed it, perfect texture and amazing flavor. The lengua tacos are not for everyone, but Baja Cali nailed the preparation of this meat, because they were amazing, you actually get the desired flavor. And the asada tacos are a must, meat quality is there. The chicken enchiladas? You can't go wrong, great cheese balance and flavor. The super burritos are top notch too. Some places skimp on the meat, but not here, everything is well portioned and perfectly balanced. And the salsas... they have it all, from mild to spicy, each with its own unique flavor and they're all My personal favorite was the aguachiles. The freshness of the seafood and the layers of flavor were incredible. I had it twice, first day was the way the house serves it (nice and spicy), and the second day I asked for it to be mild and both were amazing. Thank you chef. And if you are not sure what you want, ask the staff, they do know their menu. Andrea kindly advised to try the quesabirrias, and they deserves its own shoutout crispy, cheesy, packed with flavor, and served with that rich consommé that takes it to another level. You can taste the depth in the broth, and every bite is juicy and satisfying. Easily one of the best we've had. Once again, that broth man! (unfortunately we didn't get a photo of that since we were eager to try them) We're already looking forward to coming back to California, and as soon as we land, we'll be coming in hot for some real Mexican food. Thank you, Baja Cali Taqueria & Grill family, we love you guys. EDIT: The prices are very fair for the quality you're getting. Good, authentic food is worth it, and here you truly get what you pay for fresh ingredients, generous portions, and flavors that hit every time.

The indoor-outdoor layout is a huge plus--it's the perfect place to enjoy a meal whether you're grabbing a casual lunch or meeting up with friends for dinner. The food is consistently excellent. Their burrito bowls are packed with fresh ingredients and generous portions, making them both satisfying and delicious. If you're looking for something a little different, the wood-fired plates are definitely worth trying--they add a great smoky flavor that really stands out. Between the welcoming atmosphere, great food, and comfortable indoor-outdoor seating, Rancho Cantina is a place I'll keep coming back to. Drinks were had, quite tasty: the house old fashion & the hibiscus paloma. The mains: an order of the red sauce enchiladas with chicken & the salmon with chimichurri sauce. Hit it on a Sunday late afternoon, which turned out to be the move if you want a quiet early dinner. We ordered the grilled fish tacos, the beet salad, and the mushroom pizza, and everything was tasty. The fish was cooked right on, flaky and clean, with fresh pico on top. Plenty of food for the three dishes between us. Service was good and the staff was friendly without hovering. The space has a cool wood and corrugated metal look, with sports gear and brewery signs on the walls. There's a full bar with a solid beer list, a decent wine selection, and indoor or patio seating depending on your mood. Valet parking out front is a nice touch. Our server said Friday and Saturday nights get packed, with live music and good people watching, so the vibe shifts depending on when you go. Sunday afternoon was mellow and easy. If you want the energy, hit it on a weekend. If you want to actually hear the person across from you, go when we did. Going back to check out the live music for myself.

When we asked our waitress for silverware, she responded by asking if we needed more, even though none had been provided in the first place. We also had to ask for straws four separate times and never received them. When the appetizer plates finally arrived, they were still wet and we had to dry them ourselves before using them. Throughout the meal, our waitress rarely checked on our table, making it difficult to get anything we needed. While we enjoyed the food, the poor service made the overall experience disappointing. Unless there are significant improvements in service, we will not be returning.

Which is 2 Saute Fish Tacos for $10.95. Took about 10 minutes, and I got my order w/ chips. How was the fish tacos? Easy to eat, fresh fish, but very little flavor. Maybe some salt and pepper might of helped. Also, not very filling. I won't order this again. I went back and ordered a "Burrito W/ 1 Filling" w/ shredded steak and refried beans. (Price $12.50). Very good burrito. Nice balance of steak, beans and rice. Fresh salsa gave it a delicious mix of flavors. Easy to eat. The restaurant itself is small, with large tables in the center and a small table. There's a bar for sitting at the window. All the parking spaces in front are "green 1-hour" zones. Would I return? YES....food is good, if you know what to order. Service was very friendly and prompt.

Everything here is farm to table, and tasted fresh. The oysters were delicious and so were the mussels which came with a delightful coconut broth and grilled bread. The kids enjoyed a fried chicken slider with fries. My favorite was the beet salad with goat cheese. It was so flavorful and perfectly cooked.
