Unfortunately, I had to write this. On Wednesday, we had a very disappointing experience. I had visited Barranco the previous year for a business dinner, and everything went well. This time, however, it was a completely different. What kind of restaurant has this become? There was no one at the reception when we arrived. A person who was cleaning the tables was the one who seated us. A little later, a young woman came over looking quite unkempt and dressed in sport clothing. She casually handed us menus that were stained and dirty. It seemed as though the restaurant has no standards for uniforms or customer service protocols. This is an expensive restaurant, so having menus and service like that is unacceptable--it's not a fast-food restaurant. She had no knowledge of the menu. We asked about both the food and drink selections, and she couldn't make a single recommendation or explain any of the dishes. It was honestly embarrassing. The restaurant was almost empty, with only one or two occupied tables. Then another server came over, who also appeared to work there, but somehow the experience became even worse. She didn't seem to understand us, spoke extremely slowly, appeared very nervous, wasn't listening, and honestly seemed either unwell or simply uninterested in working. It was unbelievable. The only person who was truly helpful was the men cleaning the tables. He brought us more water, and we even ended up ordering part of our meal through him because the server never came back to our table. The food itself was good, and the drinks were poor. I expected much better drinks since we saw two people working behind the bar. Overall, I feel the restaurant has lost its standards, and it clearly shows in both the service and the overall presentation. Our server never returned to check on us, and we eventually had to get up ourselves to ask for the check. By then, we'd completely lost any interest in ordering dessert. The food was good, although the portions seemed small considering the prices. What frustrated us most was that our food arrived before our drinks. I don't believe that was the chef's or kitchen's fault. it was clearly a service issue, especially considering the restaurant was nowhere near busy. We've honestly received better service at fast-food restaurants. The restaurant itself is beautiful and has a luxurious atmosphere, but the service is simply depressing. They need to improve or completely overhaul their service if they want customers to come back.

Came for dinner with little expectations and we were so pleasantly surprised! The food was delicious and the service was wonderful! We had the empanadas, calamari, Arroz con Marisco and Aji Gallina. Lava cake and Alfajores were amazing. We will definitely be back!

Visited for Father's Day lunch. We sat on the patio, which was lovely. We had incredible service, everything came out relatively quickly. The food was absolutely delicious. Everyone in our party loved what they ordered.

Will be back. Every single thing we ate was phenomenal + love the outdoor seating. Good service. Had a great time in lafayette

Came in after researching peruvian places in the area, looked at the menu and really wanted the adobo. Had decently high but not crazy expectations because of the prices and needless to say coming here was definitely worth it. We got the Adobo and the Ceviche Mixto and we liked both a lot. The ceviche was one of the best I have ever had in awhile, the fish was fresh and a good variety, as well as the peruvian flavor was unique to set it apart from any other dish Ive had. I wish the portions were larger but the dish was amazing and I couldn't get enough, would recommend. The adobo was very flavorful and honestly the portion was a little bigger than I expected. I loved the texture of the meat as well, was recommended in hindsight to get a tortilla, I think this is a really good idea so maybe next time! Needed a to go box and honestly got pretty wavy off one drink no complaints here. To be honest this isn't something I care a lot about but I guess the selection of drinks could be more varied - if this is important to you perhaps you should factor this in. Overall- 8.5/10. This is a place I would recommend, food was great, servers were so nice to be honest. Making a reservation was very easy. Very satisfactory experience.

This place has been our favorite spot for years. Whether it is for a date night, family hangout, or family get together, Barranco never disappoints. If you are looking for superb food, fantastic ambiance, and the most friendly service you will ever encounter, you will love this place. You cannot go wrong with their lomo saltado, ají de gallina, empanadas, or ceviche. Their drinks are dangerously delicious. The staff is so friendly you will feel part of the family.

I had lunch here with a friend today. We were greeted and seated right away. Waters were brought to our table quickly. The food was outstanding! We shared the empanada platter, the Cebiche Chino-Peruano, and the fried plantains. I loved the "chips and salsa" that was served complimentary. Everything was so fresh and mouthwatering. We also ordered a couple of drinks that were pretty good. The unfortunate part of our lunch was the waitress assigned to our table was not attentive. I mean, she took our order and then we didn't see her again until toward the end of our meal. We asked for a refill of chips which she never brought. The entire rest of the staff were pulling their weight and we ended up getting our second round of drinks and chip refill from a very friendly gentleman who seemed to be doing all of the work while she was MIA. Everything else was amazing from the food and the fun vibes (live music out front). I definitely plan to go back but will avoid having the same waitress.

Got here early and it filled up shortly later. Service was fantastic. Everyone was polite and very quick to clear empty plates. Food came hot and fast, too! We sat outside and it wasn't too cold. The braised short ribs were delicious. The swordfish was ok. It was a bit under seasoned, but everything else in the dish was tasty. The octopus was cooked well like last time. We had empanadas, too. Was good. Had the flan too, but it wasn't what i expected. I thought the toasted quinoa would be better. It was too soft. The molten lava cake was molten, and for the price, it's much better than the flan. There's only one restroom.

It was a birthday celebration for a friend. A reservation for eight at 6:30pm had been made through Open Table. Unfortunately, one of the guests was unable to make it due to a scheduling conflict. We arrived early and were able to be seated before everyone else arrived. We were seated at the very back of the restaurant. Chips were placed on the table, and we ordered a pitcher of House Made Sangria. In many restaurants, Sangria is served with fruit in the glass as well as the pitcher. Here, the fruit was only in the glasses. We're not big drinkers, so while the flavor was very good, but we would have preferred more fruit. There was a lot of conversation before ordering, most of it not related to dinner. When it came time to place our orders, it was decided to order both Appetizers and Entrees at the same time. It was quite the chaotic scene, lol. For appetizers, we got Cerbiche Chino-Peruano, Cebiche Pescado and Palta Rellena. The flavors were excellent. The Avocado on the Palta Rellena may have been a day early to be served as it was quite firm to cut through but I think that's more of a personal preference. We got two orders of Arroz con Marisco. Surprisingly, we were not able to finish both plates. We ordered our food Family Style and everything was shared. Had we ordered individual dishes, this would have been my choice and I would have easily finished it. I found the Churrasco disappointing. Essentially, it's cut up Steak with Fries and Rice, not something I would ever order. What I didn't like was the Steak was covered by the Fries and I couldn't see the meat. And to me, the double starch of Rice and Fries doesn't make sense. I had a very small portion and was not impressed. The Seco de Res was interesting, but my wife felt that the Short Ribs were tough compared to other Short Ribs that we've had. Not so tough that we would send it back to the kitchen but definitely not something we would order again. This dish was her choice. The Aji de Gallina was pretty good. It's a dish that we often order in Peruvian restaurants. The Elote was okay. Unlike Mexican Elote that we've had, there was no mayonnaise which would have helped the Cotija Cheese "stick" to the corn. This was a birthday celebration and we had brought a cake with us. They stored it for us until the end of dinner and then brought fresh plates and forks. Our server also offered to cut and serve for us, but we dealt with that ourselves, making sure that she got a piece of cake as well. Service was good at the beginning and at the end of our meal. In the middle, it was lacking. Not because of anything the staff did or didn't do but we were there for a couple of hours, so we could see when the staff was getting overwhelmed. When the restaurant got busy, there simply wasn't enough staff. It looked like there was the Hostess, three servers and a runner. The smiles faded a bit and as they moved past tables, they lost eye contact with guests. Everyone was moving quickly, even the Hostess was serving water, drinks and chips. There was a man in a suit that greeted us at the end of dinner, but we hadn't noticed him until then. There were two musicians outside the restaurant to the left of the front doors. It's unfortunate that guests inside the building aren't able to enjoy the music while dining. I asked if I could get the wifi password and was told that the wifi wasn't working although I could see it on my phone. I mentioned that it would be nice to have some pillows to sit on. We were on a wooden bench, and I guess I don't have as much padding as I appear. Would we come back? Yes, I would give them another try if we needed dinner while in the area.

Overall the food was too salty and the service wasn't good neither. Heads up that parking will be challenging too.

Trendy and delicious Peruvian spot in the Lafayette area! Came for a birthday dinner and it was the fastest service we ever experienced. All the food came out super quickly and with huge portions too We went with the ceviche sampler which was but different than I was expecting but came with lots of fresh fish and fun garnishments. We also grabbed a couple cocktails that were unique and tasty. I went with the squid ink seafood paella and my husband for the lomo saltado. Waitress was the best and we really enjoyed our dinner

They have a daily happy hour starting at 3pm - definitely take advantage of those HH prices! We have always sat at the bar or at high-tops in the bar area, but there is a nice, cozy dining room to the right of the bar, as well as a larger dining room behind the bar, and outdoor seating. They do a weekend brunch until 3pm. The clientele is classic Lafayette, which is to say, ladies, don't leave your men unattended. Cheers!

The menu goes deeper than expected for a bar, with sliders, naan tacos, and charcuterie if you show up hungry. Service was good considering the staff-to-crowd ratio. Sevan stayed attentive the whole time and clearly knows his stuff. The vibe is chill and conversation-friendly, not too loud for the size of the room, with a bank of TVs toward the back if you want to catch a game. Logistics are easy. The bar sits a short walk from Pleasant Hill BART and parking in the area was no trouble. I've been a few times before and this visit confirmed why I keep coming back. For a high quality cocktail in the East Bay, this is the spot.

For beverage choices, H&S gets 5 stars. For food, one star. And while the servers are nice and good…read moreat their jobs, if there is only one covering the whole restaurant, the service is sssllloooowwww. I blame ownership for being cheap and not wanting to pay for enough servers. Lastly - DON'T ORDER THE KETTLE CHIPS! They used to make their own, but now they charge $4 for a bag of kettle brand chips tossed on a plate. Eew.

We experienced great service as they were able to accommodate us for last minute reservation changes, even for a large group. Additionally, I was immediately greeted by the team for my birthday. We were obsessed with each dish. Some that we ordered: Lomo Saltado (chicken) Yum!! 10/10 Ceviche Mixto amazing 10/10 Pollo à la brasa, crowd favorite 10/10 Arroz con verduras paella 8/10, I just prefer protein! Arroz con mariscos paella, 11/10 filled me up and had generous portions of seafood! Yuca frita 10/10 can't go wrong, nice sauce pairing Plátanos fritos 10/10 the tamarind sauce was tangy and yummy. I've never had sauce like that! Overall you really can't miss with anything you order. The churrasco ordered by my neighbor looked bomb too. There's plenty of space for large groups which is why Parada won me over instead of Limon which I frequent. There's a lot of parking available and options of outdoor and indoor seating. Nice ambiance, they have a full bar and TVs for sports.

The menu items didn't particularly catch my eye, and I'd say it seems better for tapas than entrees. A lot of the food tasted overly sweet as well. Overall, everything was decent but not amazing. While customer service was super friendly, I found this the most disappointing aspect of the experience. I had to flag down our server a few times, even with being the only customers inside. We were celebrating my brother's birthday, and our dessert cake was served without any utensils until flagging down another server, who then prompted our table's server to make their way over. RECS: + Empanadas platter ($25) nicely came with one of each flavor for a total of four, and it was very fun to share! I did find it odd for these to be covered in powdered sugar though. Personal favorites were the beef and corn-cheese empanadas! + Fried plantains ($10) were perfectly caramelized and soft + Homemade chips ($6) became a family hit! I believe it's cassava root but not 100% sure
