Stopped here after visiting a local play place with my son. We ordered takeout online and waited for only about 10 mins. The food is super quick! We ordered a chicken quesadilla, chicken burrito, vegan tinga tacos and shrimp tacos. With tip everything came to about $50. I really don't know if that's good or bad these days. This scoring included in this review is squarely based on the taste of the food. What I appreciated is that every item came woth pico de Gallo, salsa Verde, crema and guacamole. We thought everything was just okay. The burrito tasted more like a grilled cheese sandwich with guacamole to me. I wanted more cumin or paprika or oregano. There wasn't much beyond spice on the tacos. Not that they were bad but they didn't have unique or nuanced flavors. This feels like a good spot for late night tacos maybe but it was just okay for us. read more

Reasonable offering for TooGoodToGo. Some sandwich that looks fun to try. Maybe a vegetarian version of a torto al pastor. (I had to do some random research to come up with that lol)? The website seems down or no longer working for the restaurant. There is no inside seating. I sense food quality and price here is reasonable - maybe a bit of a "hole in the wall" so to speak. Staff was nice and noticed my Poe hoodie. Not sure if he knew the artist Poe but we couldn't talk much cause he and the restaurant was busy. Parking is very difficult on a Friday night here and probably the weekend is the same. read more

This is my favorite Mexican spot in the Fishtown/NoLibs area. The birria is incredible and to die for. Online ordering through Toast is great and super convenient. We ordered in the restaurant and paid and then the guy told us it would be 25 minutes. There were so many uber eats orders. Good for them but set yourself up as a ghost kitchen if to go orders are prioritized. It's not a sit and wait 25 minutes for your food kind of place. It's 5 minutes, get your food and go. This was a hidden gem I found on DoorDash one night when I was nowhere near the restaurant. The delivery fees were worth it and it became a favorite takeout meal. The chips and queso are fresh and the queso is not what you'd expect texture wise, but flavor wise it's 10/10 with the fresh tomatoes on top. The guac is also fresh & flavorful. The corn is consistently great. I've tried all sorts of items at this point and nothing has disappointed. Tried the Birria tacos because of how popular they are. They would not be my go to otherwise but I had to try. They were delicious. Solid tacos in Fishtown - with inflation they're more than I usually like to spend on tacos but you definitely feel like your moneys worth because they are PACKED. The shrimp was literally falling out of the taco because it was so stuffed. I thought 3 tacos wouldn't be enough for me but I was stuffffed. My hub's burrito had a bit less meat than we would have liked. Taste wise I really enjoyed the shrimp and the burrito was solid but not amazing. Chips and guac were also pretty good, solid but not amazing. It's not an authentic Mexican place so there were some details that made it feel more Tex/mex e.g. the cheese in the burrito or tomatoes/pico on the taco. Overall not the best tacos we've ever had but a solid place if you're looking for a fix. read more

Got the birria tacos and chips w/ guac for take out yesterday. Birria: Holy moly when you dip it in the broth? My tastebuds sing in delicious savory oily harmony. You will definitely need to soak the taco in the broth because the meat is really dry. Chips w/ guac: Definitely not enough guac for the amount chips they provide. And maybe it's their style but the tomato and onion were huge chunks in the dip.... The guac was quite disappointing for me... Dude go try these tacos. They were so good. I tried taco with just the corn tortilla and the carnitas no sauce or anything and could've ate them all like that. The lime and sauces just made it better, the red sauce has a tiny little kick to it (I don't really like spicy). My steak quesadilla also tasted great! Service was so bad. They messed up my delivery order (2 al pastor tacos instead of one shrimp and one Al pastor). I called immediately because I don't eat meat so I couldn't eat the Al pastor. The guy was so rude. He had no sympathy for getting the order wrong and said I had to go through Uber eats. He didn't offer any help and said just contact Uber and then hung up on me. Got the carnitas tacos and nachos. The carnitas were seasoned so well that I didn't need any sauce but of course I still added tomatillo sauce. The tortillas on the tacos were corn based but soft and not grainy. The nachos were freshly made and really good. Went to their weekend "event" where they only served Birria Tacos and Elote. While the food was ok it was a nightmare trying to actually get the food. I feel you shouldn't advertise a special event due to an increase in demand for a couple of popular products then do nothing to mitigate said increased demand. A 15 minute wait turned into an hour, tickets were being completed out of order (the first person in line was 5th or 6th served), an incorrect order was given out to someone who was towards the mid-back of the original line. So not only did they get an incorrect order before everyone else in front of them but their actual order was also done first. Some people asked for a refund and some who stuck around were repeatedly told 15 more minutes. As for the food it was OK. The elote was ice cold but the tacos were steaming hot. I understand Birria tacos are a specialty, but I could have gone to South Philly to a couple of other restaurants who serve them and still had been back sooner than waiting here at the food truck. I'm sure on a regular day things are less chaotic, but I can only judge based off my visit which comes down to the food and the experience. Food was good for the most part, the experience was awful due to how unorganized things were. If I go back it'll be during the week and I'll give a fair update. read more

When my father said to me that this place on Girard Ave in Fishtown was voted as the best place to get tacos in Philly, it sparked curiosity. My dad and I ordered tacos. He wanted the shrimp tacos, and I ordered the Birria tacos. Very good, and worth the hype. We also ordered some chips and guacamole and a couple chocolate conchas(Mexican sweet bread) and a couple churros. Everything was delicious. I get excited whenever a new latin restaurant opens in Philly. This place makes amazing tostadas, churros, and al pastor tacos. Unfortunately the tortas were a huge miss, which had tiny portions of meat and super dry bread. As for birria tacos, they are difficult to find around Philly, so I am glad to have found a new local place that has them, but they are a bit bland for birria tacos. I got the steak burrito, which arrived cold which I can get past my heating it up, but it had so much shredded yellow cheese in it. The burrito tastes very catered to an American pallet, as it had so much lettuce and cheese. I'm pretty sure I've went to all of THE taco joints in the area and La Chingonita by far takes the lead when it comes to shrimp tacos. Shrimp was perfectly cooked and seasoned and ingredients were super fresh. The flavor combo was perfect. Beyond that, they were really friendly and service was great. My only wish is that they had some other seating options, the stools were small and not the most comfortable. Then again, I got over that fast once I tasted the food! Thought I'd try out this newish taco joint. Got the Birria tacos, chips and guac and an in-house fresh drink (hibiscus) which was delicious. Overall, quality ingredients and very fresh food. Few nitpicks... Chips needed salt and the cheese to meat ratio was off. To pay $15 for the birria tacos and get mostly mostly mozzarella cheese was disappointing. All in all, recommended read more
