Everything was good , music , food except I was celebrating my birthday my niece got me a gift something small nothing expensive it was hand made, we were leaving we walked by the parking lot and I realized I forgot my gift bag , we ran and ask for it , they took like 20 min or so they check and said first time they didn't see it , then that the cleaning people took it and put it in the trash so we ask if we can look for it then they said they dumped in the dumpster at the end they couldn't find it . This place is gorgeous. The theming is on par with a Disney restaurant, you are transported into a lush Mayan jungle with greenery everywhere you look. The attention to detail is incredible. We started with the queso blanco, which is served in a volcanic stone bowl that keeps it perfectly warm and creamy far longer than a traditional bowl. It was absolutely delicious, and the portion was enormous. Honestly, six people could easily share it and still have plenty before the main course arrived. For our entrée, we ordered the chicken fajitas. The chicken was well-marinated, the presentation was beautiful, and both the rice and beans were excellent. Now for the few things keeping this from being a five-star experience. First, the tortillas. They tasted like packaged grocery store tortillas...think Mission brand. For me, freshly made tortillas are almost non-negotiable at a Mexican restaurant. When everything else is this thoughtfully prepared, packaged tortillas feel completely out of place. Second--and this is a hill I'm willing to die on--I ordered a Diet Coke and was told they only serve Coke Zero. I'm sorry, but those are not the same thing. Every Diet Coke fan understands this. Finally, the noise level was overwhelming. There was a soccer game on the TVs with the audio blasting throughout the restaurant. It was so loud that carrying on a conversation was difficult, and even hearing our waitress required her to lean in right next to us. This isn't a sports bar; it's a beautifully themed restaurant that happens to have a bar. The game didn't need to dominate the atmosphere. Overall, the restaurant is stunning, the food is very good, and the attention to detail is exceptional. The server disappeared for 20 minutes beverages empty. Tacos were TINY, with too much salt. Borracho beans, perfect. Empanadas on the sampler, were amazing, consommé underwhelming. Server dropped off beverages and disappeared for 20 more minutes, dropped off the check, left again for 20 minutes. Charged extra for beef, without telling us, came back and said all subs are extra, here is your card It was a busy and VERY noisy day. even at 2pm we had to shout to talk. The hostess was proactive and friendly, but once me and 4 of my other girlfriends got seated is where the nightmare started. Our waitress Tania from get go was unprofessional, unfriendly and treated our table like is was a pain to serve us. The service was so terrible that we requested to see the manager 3 times, and she would say " No, no worries, I will take care of everything, no need to ask for the manager" We had our reservations were for 6PM, and we didn't get to do the actual food order till 7:15PM. I can go on and on about our horrible experience, but honestly it's not worth my time to continue with this Spanish soap opera. I've got a mixed review of Vidorra. At the end of the day, I don't think I'll be going back but that doesn't mean it was all bad. First, the good. Well, the good was definitely the chips and salsa. The chips were lightly dusted with some seasoning. I didn't take the time to figure out what it was, but it gave them a nice kick. So subtle but so significant. Unfortunately, my experience kind of dipped from there. Service was slow and a bit inattentive. I got the Molcajete parrillada en fuego. The literal translation is mortar grilled over fire. I should have asked what that meant because most Molcajete dishes are heated over fire. What it means at Vidorra is cook the meat, drop a hot coal in the mortar and put the cooked meat with a little mole on a grill screen over the mortar. It's basically a fajita dish served on top of the mortar bowl. However, it doesn't stay warm. Needless to say, I was disappointed. That said, the verde Molcajete that someone else got looked as expected. No one else (there were six of us) raved about their food. So, I'm in no rush to head back. read more

A week later and I am still thinking about the delicious food and fantastic service! We didn't wait super long for a table and the hosts were great. We took my dad to dinner and he complained that it was a little loud, but felt like we sat right under a speaker. I explained to him that it was part of the "vibe". Other than the volume making it difficult to hear, everything was fantastic. We probably could have asked to sit on the heated patio. The chips were warm and fresh and came with both red and green salsa, and both were super tasty. My husband asked if I could make salsa like that at home! We ordered drinks and they came quickly. I appreciated the quality of the drinks especially since we mostly ordered from their drink menu. We ordered "The Good Guac" to start and our server made sure that it wasn't too spicy or anything for my dad. I thought that was very thoughtful that she asked if how it came was ok. For food we ordered street tacos, Baja fish tacos and the parillada en fuego. The food runner seemed confused and brought us another dish (maybe the Verde molcajete) but with the loud music the message that we didn't order it was lost in translation. My husband thought maybe it was what he ordered and started in. Because our server came to check on us so quickly, she caught the mistake right away. She apologized profusely and said they were bringing what we ordered. They allowed us to keep the dish, and no sooner did we have a few bites of the deliciousness the correct food came out. They checked on us quickly, apologized profusely, brought the correct food immediately, let us keep the other food, sent another manager to apologize and finally followed up with coupons to return after making sure we were satisfied with how they handled it. I understand humans make mistakes, so I feel like the recovery or response is what is important. This is the type of amazing service that will keep us coming back. We were actually happy with the mistake as we were able to try another dish we likely wouldn't have ordered (but ended up being our favorite thing to eat). The ambiance was fun, parking was easy, the wait was reasonable, the service was FANTASTIC, the food was delicious and food/drinks were made with quality ingredients. We'll be back! read more

The volume of the "club style music" for a six pm dinner is extremely loud. We could not hear our wait staff and they could not hear us. Most clients sat outside in the heat on the patio instead of inside due to the volume. The staff were pleasant overall. The food was delicious and the drinks were well made, although the wait times for both drinks and food were very long. The manager provided us with cards for a return visit for a free appetizer which was very nice of them however we will wait until the temperature outside is much cooler before we return for another visit. Though they add cool lighting, which helps. Food, well I wish I could give it five stars, but my second visit confirmed my feelings about the food. Wow, we decided to try Vidorra because we happened to be in the area, and I was not expecting this! The décor is really cool and actually reminds me of a place we used to go to that closed down--Hugo's Lost Colony. The outdoor patio and bar are amazing! It was a little warm when we went, but they do a great job circulating air and even have misters. I can only imagine how packed this place must get once the weather cools off. Tons of outdoor seating and the inside is huge as well. Service was spot on. We were greeted right away and went with the frozen house margarita (our server said it was better than the rocks version), and she was right--it was excellent. We also tried the guacamole. It was very tasty, but for the price the portion was a bit small, so I might pass on it next time. On the plus side, the chips and two kinds of salsa are complimentary--both were good, but I especially loved the smoky one. For my entrée, I had the three street taco plate with beans and rice. The portions were generous--I actually had a taco left over (and that's after filling up on chips and guac ). Pro tip: You can join the waitlist through Yelp. On a recent trip to Rockwall, my friends ate here for dinner and loved it so much that we all went back the next day for brunch. The decor is beautiful, prices are pretty reasonable (some items are overpriced in my opinion, but most are average to good for the quality), our server was helpful and friendly, our orders were made correctly, and everything tasted ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We especially loved the salsa verde that came with the big basket of complimentary chips & salsa. The other included salsa had a smoky flavor and was the less hot option. We ordered a frozen margarita, the noche tropical drink, the breakfast chimi, the chili con carne enchiladas, and the veggie enchiladas with some modifications to make it more veg friendly. All of their rice and beans contain meat, so if you're a vegetarian ordering the veggie enchiladas, ask to substitute a different side. Unplanned Friday evening date. We got there a little before 6 p.m. It was already kind of packed and steadily filling up. We were able to get a table right away, but about 20 minutes later, a line started to form--so it's probably better to make a reservation. As soon as we were seated, we were brought water, chips, and salsa. Our server came by within a couple of minutes to take our drink order. It took a little while to get our drinks, but considering how busy it was, it was understandable. The man ordered a beer, and I went with the Big Guava. It was a bit sweet, but tasty. It took a little more time for the server to return, but when she did, we ordered the birria empanadas as our appetizer, along with entrées--the churrasco and the Parrillada en Fuego--and a Don Julio flight. The flight came out with a sparkler, which was a fun touch. About five minutes later, all of our food came out at once, and the presentation was really appealing. The empanadas were absolutely delicious, served with a sauce and consomé. I didn't catch the name of the sauce, but it paired perfectly. The churrasco came with the smokiest, yummiest potatoes and was cooked perfectly for the man. My dish included BBQ chicken breast strips (with a little kick), jalapeño cheddar sausage, and short ribs, along with peppers and onions. Everything was amazing. The short ribs were a bit tough, but still flavorful. We decided to add the churros as our dessert. They were caramel-filled and of course delicious- just needed a caramel dipping sauce. The vibe of the restaurant was perfect for kicking off a Friday evening after work, and the food was excellent. We would definitely go back. We spent about $180 with tip. read more

First, I just loved the atmosphere! Kind of tropical and cozy. My girlfriend brought me here for lunch. We had the queso that's served in a hot volcanic rock bowl lined with banana leaves that keeps it piping hot for hours. Oddly, screens and plastic plants in planter boxes obscured almost all view of the lake which was a shame, but later in the evening they also would block a hot sun. We had guacamole for a starter, for the price the serving size was disappointing- probably wouldn't order that again. Service was good and we lucked into a parking spot near the entrance. The decor is interesting but indoor seating can be full on a weekend, we had no choice but eat in the patio or wait a while for indoor seating. There is an outside area but I haven't dined there. The food is okay, I've had much better "Mexican" food and for cheaper. The birrias were good, but there was barely any meat inside and the consome it was served with was so small. I also ordered the sour cream chicken enchiladas & it was just mediocre. First of all, congrats for being busy, but if others have the experience we had, the crowd will start to thin out. We were seated on the patio, which initially didn't seem that bad since they had fans. Here's the rub. They seated our party of six at a table with a puddle of water from the earlier rain under it. My daughter's shoes, socks, and the bottom or her pants were soaked. When she complained to our server, he said ... "ok." Wait. What? Ok? How about taking that squeegee over there and getting some of this water out? Completely clueless. Then there were the flies. Don't get me started. So atmosphere and service "F." Now the most important part ... the food. Most of our party seemed to enjoy their food ok, but I had the Baja fish tacos. Zero flavor. They seemed really proud of their food but more attention was paid on presentation than taste. So the food "C-." I was there for my nieces graduation dinner and it was amazing. We were first met by Carrie at the front door. She is so warm and inviting. Carrie helped us get a drink while waiting for our table to be ready. We were a little early. She recommended a wonderful margarita. Carrie is a treasure for sure.
