Good local spot not the best but always clean and courteous staff. The breakfast is better than the lunch in my opinion. The huevos rancheros are a stand out and if you ask for a side of sausage it really elevates the plate. The sausage is a spicy link but cut uniquely like my grandma used to serve it. I've had the sombrero as well and that's pretty damn good too. The green salsa is just spicy enough to make everything taste even better. The entomatadas are also a standout. The most Disgusting food ever at that we got breakfast . There potato and egg plate was a joke I don't know if the potatoes were potato chips just fried with egg but they were so nasty ! That's not the only thing that was wrong the beans had no flavor the chilaquiles was the same issue as if they fried chips and just put the sauce on it . Highly disappointed today. We've been coming to this restaurant since they opened with the previous owners. Amelia and family. With this new owner taking over we were hesitant in coming back because we didn't know if things would change. Well, they kept the menu pretty much the same straight down to the homemade Amelia's tortillas from the previous owner. When we returned amid pandemic , what we would call our favorite restaurant for two decades. We were disappointed that our first bite wasn't Nostalgic for the taste we were so a custom to.. Not only did they change the authentic famous flour tortillas that we loved for many many years. Their food lacked sabor. Bring back the sabor this restaurant once had because that's what made my family feel at home. More importantly the Amelia's tortillas!!! Come on they're right across the parking lot from you! Good and authentic Mexican food in a building whose better days passed by decades ago. The tortillas and breads here are as expected in a tortilla factory -- impeccably fresh, tender, and delicious. They are the difference between 3 and 4 stars, frankly. The tacos and gorditas are what we get here. Lengua is always tender and delicious, seasoned with only salt and pepper, the delicate flavor of the tongue shines through. The fresh homemade gordita shell has a tender bite and delicious masa flavor. Barbacoa is silky, rich, and not too fatty. The carne al pastor can be awesome, but is more usually disappointing, either dried out or slightly scorched. Rice and beans are of average quality. 4 stars. read more

This is a great family owned Mexican Restaurant. If your looking for great Mexican food and reasonable pricing this is certainly the place to go. They do not have a bar so it is BYOB, which is honestly a good idea and certainly less expensive on the pocket. We have had many parties here and even done the take out botana platter for parties at our house. I have never had any issues with food and had almost everything on the menu. They make the tortillas across from the restaurant in the tortilla factory the family owns. Just last year they opened up a location in Rowett called Amelias, same food just a bit more expensive. Tortillas del Rancho has the best mexican food around. It is a hole in the wall place in a shopping center and its easy to miss if yu are not paying attention. Their food is authentic and the tortillas are hand made and very delicious! Ask for a side of butter to spread on them and yu have an instant appetizer. Be careful though, once yu start, its hard to stop eating them before your main dish comes out! The "sombrero" is really good and serves 2 people. This restaurant does not serve alcohol, but i believe it's BYOB. I ordered the huevos verde. The meal itself was great. However, my only complaint is that when I asked if they could make the plate with egg whites only, our waitress said the dish was already prepared. While, this isn't a big deal, I will give it a 4 star rating. Thankfully the eggs were cooked well and spiced right with the verde salsa. I was able to substitute the potato for bacon at a charge and that's understandable. Although this was my first check in, I've been here many times. This place has my Mexican comfort foods. Caldo de res, menudo and enchiladas. They serve breakfast until 10:30 a.m. and will bring delicious chips and salsa to the table once you sit down. They have tacos, gorditas and sopes you can sample from if you pick from their item menu or combo plates that will be sure to surprise you. Both times I've visited this restaurant I've left so incredibly disappointed. The food is great but my goodness, the wait staff is horrible. If I ever want to eat the food again, I think I'll just pick it up and go back home to actually enjoy my meal. The last time I ate here, my father even spoke to the woman in charge and her excuse was "maybe the waitress had a fight with her husband this morning". That was seriously her excuse! I started going here in 2007 with a couple of friends. It was fantastic and we went for lunch often. There are no bad items on the menu, but the tacos al pastor are a work of art. We actually went to this place daily for a while because we wanted great food and we got caught up in one of the telenovelas that are constantly on the TV. I worked out of state for several years and found a place that reminded me of Tortilla Del Rancho in Culver City. Went here with my family yesterday after not having been in a while and it's still great! When in Europe, you're almost always safe going off the beaten path and finding a restaurant where the locals go. If in Italy you go into an Italian restaurant and all the people inside are Italian, you know you're in for a great meal. Well, this is a Mexican food place and by looking around, you'll see that you're in for a great meal here. The decor is nothing to write home about and the tables are essentially the same you'd find in a high-school cafeteria... if not a little more wobbly. But who cares?! You're here for the food! I had the beef fajitas and I compare them with the fajitas from Chili's (where I used to cook way back in the day)... exactly the same for half the price. And they even have Chili's beat because they make their tortillas fresh (or at least they used to). Mine yesterday tasted fresh... so fresh that if they sit out in the open for a few minutes they start to get a little hard (no preservatives). How are there not more reviews of this place? First a warning, they are closed on mondays. Once you go here you will understand why this is sad (you can't eat there on mondays). I originally started going here about 3 years ago after a positive review in the dallas morning news. This is not tex mex, this is mexican food. If you are coming here looking for tamales with chili on top or crunchy tacos keep on trucking. I've been going around once a week for the last three years and have enjoyed breakfast and lunch here. The service is good, the food is fantastic and the mexican soap operas are always on. Breakfast: If you are looking for good mexican breakfast, go here. I'm not talking about breakfast tacos (another category all together) but breakfast plates. They have machacado con huevo (basically dried beef and eggs, order it a la mexicana), huevos divorcadas (divorced eggs, one covered in red salsa and one covered in green salsa) and the other standards like chiliquiles. The tortillas are french and the heat is good from the salsas. Lunch: I order pretty much the same thing every time. Two tacos al pastor in corn tortillas. Add avocado and queso freso, naturally. One chicken tostada. The other people I go with order a variety of things and no one has ever complained. Enchiladas and Fajitas are both good, but for me its all about the tacos al pastor. They have a second location in Rowlett called Amelia's, http://www.ameliasrestaurant.com/, that I haven't been to but is owned by the same family. We continue to go to Tortillas almost every Friday night and it is my son and my favorite mexican place in the metroplex. We keep trying other places but always end up back at Tortillas because you can't beat their food and their prices. It is BYOB and I usually bring a small cooler with a few beers when I come. They have a varied menu and on many of the dishes you can choose the meat to include barbacoa, carne molida (ground beef) brisket, chicken and beef fajita and al pastor (spicy pork). One of my favorites is #12 which is a fajita steak with beans and rice and comes with tortillas' The red sauce they put on the meat is great. Lately I have been having fajitas.. Not many places where you can get fajitas for under $9.00. Awesome!! My wife usually gets one of the combo plates and my kids get the quesadillas and burger plate and my youngest always gets a Mexican Coke to round out the meal. All food was cold, fajitas were chewy and kids hamburger plate charged $2 extra for a spoon of rice and beans instead of fries and one miserable taco is $3.00 and each kids drink was $2.00.... really! Then got a small chocolate candy to quiet my crying grandson and they acted like I was going to steal it and made a special stop at the table to write down on my ticket one .50 cent chocolate.
