    These are not homemade

Highly disappointed today. We've been coming to this restaurant since they opened with the previous owners. Amelia and family. With this new owner taking over we were hesitant in coming back because we didn't know if things would change. Well, they kept the menu pretty much the same straight down to the homemade Amelia's tortillas from the previous owner. When we returned amid pandemic , what we would call our favorite restaurant for two decades. We were disappointed that our first bite wasn't Nostalgic for the taste we were so a custom to.. Not only did they change the authentic famous flour tortillas that we loved for many many years. Their food lacked sabor. Bring back the sabor this restaurant once had because that's what made my family feel at home. More importantly the Amelia's tortillas!!! Come on they're right across the parking lot from you! You cannot beat the taste of those tortillas with the mission brand flavorless tortillas you're serving now.

Good and authentic Mexican food in a building whose better days passed by decades ago. The tortillas and breads here are as expected in a tortilla factory -- impeccably fresh, tender, and delicious. They are the difference between 3 and 4 stars, frankly. The tacos and gorditas are what we get here. Lengua is always tender and delicious, seasoned with only salt and pepper, the delicate flavor of the tongue shines through. The fresh homemade gordita shell has a tender bite and delicious masa flavor. Barbacoa is silky, rich, and not too fatty. The carne al pastor can be awesome, but is more usually disappointing, either dried out or slightly scorched. Rice and beans are of average quality. 4 stars.

    Nice simple decor

I ordered the huevos verde. The meal itself was great. However, my only complaint is that when I asked if they could make the plate with egg whites only, our waitress said the dish was already prepared. While, this isn't a big deal, I will give it a 4 star rating. Thankfully the eggs were cooked well and spiced right with the verde salsa. I was able to substitute the potato for bacon at a charge and that's understandable. Although this was my first check in, I've been here many times. This little hole in the wall restaurant has come a long way!

We were very pleasantly surprised. It's even better in my opinion. The people are very warm and friendly. The food is really delicious. I love that they bring not only good salsa with their fresh hot chips, but also a tomatillo sauce and a black bean dip. We've now eaten there several times. The taco meat has a nicely charred flavor. The tamales were very good. (I'm picky about my tamales. I've tried their ranchero sauce, chili con carne, and sour cream sauce. None of them disappoint. Their rice isn't dry like it is at many other Tex-Mex places. And their $5.00 all day frozen margaritas are worth it. We usually go for the lunch specials that run until 4:00. They don't have mole on the menu, yet. I'm looking forward to their future specials. In this day and age where it's hard to keep a restaurant open, I really hope this one survives. It's not fancy, but the food and service make it worth it. And I'm a picky person when it comes to spending money on food I don't make myself.

I got a potato and scrambled egg taco, a ham and scrambled egg taco, and a chorizo and scrambled egg taco. The potato and the ham ones were good, although the chorizo wasn't my favorite. It was pretty early so I obviously went breakfast with my choices, but they had a variety of options ranging from barbacoa to chicken. Complimentary champagne, and AMAZING service from our waitress. I've literally never had a server with such extensive knowledge of a restaurant's menu. Very impressive! (which was HUGE btw). While the service was exponentially excellent, the food was...good. The menu was what I would describe as "elevated Mexican" with some other Latin-inspired steakhouse dishes (think filet mignon with some salsa on the side) Everything was good, but nothing really stood out for me. There was a 45-minute wait, due to how many people were crammed into downtown, trying to find places to eat. I had wanted to come here for a while, and suggested coming here to my girlfriend, who admittedly, "doesn't like Tex-Mex" (I know, I know), and after encouraging her to give it a try, we were pleasantly treated to some very high quality food in a nice environment. Despite being woefully understaffed, to the point that they were out of bowls for the salsa and started serving it in to-go containers, the staff was friendly and helpful, with the manager still making the rounds to introduce himself and check on people's experiences. I really liked the chips & salsa, and so did my girlfriend who is very spice sensitive. We had the, "Julio's Tilapia", which was, "Pan-seared tilapia topped with fresh sautéed baby spinach and jumbo grilled shrimp, finished with a silky spicy chipotle cream sauce. Served with rice and a crisp side salad." and the "GUIS-Ohhhhhh!", which was, "Traditional Mexican beef stew. Served with avocado slices, tomatoes, lettuce, & tortillas". The food was delicious, and I really thought the jumbo shrimp was great, and the Guisoooo (carne guisada) was deeply flavored, and very rich in a way I haven't had before. My girlfriend made sure to flag down the manager to point out what an exceptional meal she thought it was, and mentioned several times how blown away she was, and I quote her as saying, "I was expecting one thing, but I did not expect a foodie experience!". We sat at the bar area, which while not large, has taller tables which is helpful for me. The restaurant handled the huge volume of people well, and the food quality was great.
