Fresh & delicious Chicken Taco Salad
    Cheryl C.

My sister recently moved to Orland and told us about this gem so my husband & I decided to check it out for ourselves. We arrived around 4pm on Sat. Darian welcomed us in, and told us to sit where ever we wanted. He brought us menus, as well as some complimentary homemade chips and salsa. He then took our drink & entree orders. I went with a Modelo Negro $4, and an order of the crispy fried Fish Tacos $16.99 My husband got their seasonal IPA $6 and a Chicken Fiesta Taco Salad 18.99 We also got an order of Guacamole $8.99 The chips, salsa & guacamole were all homemade and delicious. We finished the basket of chips, so Darian was nice enough to bring out another basket that were hot out of the fryer. Our entrees came out, and I couldn't beleive how beautiful my 3 large fish tacos were esp. on their colorful plate. The taco shells were soft homemade corn tortillas, & there was a hint of sweetness with the sauce. My husband thoroughly enjoyed his Chicken Taco salad. It didn't look very large, but he ate the entire thing, and he was quite full. I too tasted the flour tortilla shell and we were both pretty happy that it was freshly made. Most restaurants either use old oil or make the shells days in advance so they end up being rancid and stale, but not this one. Jess, the owner, came out at one point to see how everything was. I told her the food was wonderful. I saw others commenting online about the prices being expensive, but I told her it's well worth paying a bit more for quality fresh food.

Rice and beans that came with the mojara.

This place has only been open for about five months, and we finally decided to try it--wow, I should have come sooner. I ordered the mojarra frita and my mom had the menudo, and the flavor was absolutely there! It honestly reminded me of food from my home state of Colima. I asked the owner, who was working at the time, and he shared that his wife is from Manzanillo--she was very kind as well. I highly recommend this place. The prices are a bit high, but let's be real, this is California--what isn't? The only suggestion I'd make is to skip the cumin in the rice; I could really taste it, and I'm just not a fan.

High prices and low quality. If I'm paying $18 for a taco salad I want it to be big and taste good.

Its a casual yet classy place for lunch and dinner. They have a shaded patio in front as well ( dog friendly). I love smaller towns! Relatively no traffic or crime! My boyfriend and I ordered off the lunch specials menu. He ordered the smash burger and chose macaroni salad. I ordered the grilled shrimp on a skewer with brown rice and spicy coleslaw. We always try each other's food! The smash burger was juicy and the macaroni salad was good! My shrimp had a nice grill on it and the coleslaw was delicious. The brown rice was alittle dry for my taste buds. It has a full bar with tvs to watch sports. There is quieter seating on the other side of the bar area. Overall it was a good experience! Great menu with plenty of speciality cocktails along with some craft beers! Staff is professional!

We were greeted immediately and asked if we had reservations, which we didn't but was graciously seated in a very short time. Our server was at our table with water and rolls in less than three minutes. She took our drink order and had them back to us quickly. The place was crowded but service was excellent! I had the rib eye and my wife had the grilled chicken. The dinners included salad plus two sides. We opted out of appetizers due to the amount of food offered on the menu. My steak was grilled perfectly as was my wife's chicken. I ordered glazed carrots as one of my sides and received fresh carrots in a sweet glaze (perfect)! Wife had asparagus and it was perfectly cooked. I didn't get pictures of the food because there was a baseball game on one tv and football on another! Sorry! The restaurant interior was classic steakhouse with a nice bar. We will go again!

Sadly my $59 Prime Rib had a LOT of fat, much more than I've ever had anywhere. Also they no longer offer baked potato as an option so instead I chose "loaded" mashed potato and I liked it. I also liked my asparagus as a side. One of our friends also ordered Prime Rib and also overall wasn't that happy with his and the fact of no baked potato bumbed him out as well. His 4 small limp carrots had a massive amount of cinnamon on them. The side salads that came with our Prime Rib were nice. The Caesar salad (with shrimp) that one of our friends ordered she found to be very disappointing with a massive amount of very small croutons. The Chef salad (with added steak) that my wife ordered also wasn't very good. The fried pickles chips weren't as good as their former fried pickles and for $9.50 we expected more of them. Note that we went on Saturday June 21st, 2025 the longest daylight of the year however they no longer offer/do outside seating for dinner. For their overall prices I would expect like most steakhouses that charge as much as Lassen currently does these days to have cloth napkins however Lassen only supplies cheap paper napkins. We live 1/2 hour away in Chico and have decided we'll no longer drive all the way to Vina's Lassen Steakhouse.

There is a definite ocean/ seafood feel. I was greater by a shy but pleasant and friendly young lady. She was helpful with the menu options and helped me understand the different specials for the day. I ordered the 1-piece fish, fried cheese bread and cup of chowder with a drink for $16.49. And just because I was craving shrimp as well, I also ordered a shrimp cocktail. This ended up being a lot more good than I could eat, and quite honestly, a great deal for the amount of food for under $30 nowadays!! The cocktail sauce is great; it has a little spicy kick but not too much to ruin the shrimp. The clam chowder is awesome. There is a lot of clam pieces, the flavor is really good and it was very filling. The fish cooked perfectly and not overly breaded and not over cooked. I was very impressed. The fried cheese bread is weird "to me" but it has a good flavor. I just wasn't crazy about the texture. Overall, if you're in the area, this is a must stop. I'm so happy I ate dinner here. If I'm ever in the area again I Will return. Thanks for a great dinner!!!

We found El Capi on Yelp and were impressed by the great reviews. When we walked in, it was completely empty, which made us a little hesitant--but the vibes felt right, so we decided to give it a shot. First impressions? The place is super cute and spotless--huge for me. Even the bathroom was chef's kiss clean (major points!). The server was friendly, attentive, and welcoming. Booths were spacious and spotless. You can order from physical menus or scan a QR code, which is always a nice option. Here's what we ordered: * Caldo de Camarón * Calamari * Spicy Edamame * Two shrimp tacos * One fish taco * Shrimp tostada Everything was seriously delicious. The edamame had a great kick, and the calamari was perfectly cooked--crispy, not rubbery--and paired with a zesty tartar sauce that really elevated the dish. The tacos and tostada were fresh and flavorful. My only critique? The tortillas. That's the one area I'd love to see improved. Handmade or at least warmed on the comal would have really taken the tacos to the next level. Ours felt like they came from a microwave or warmer, which was a bit of a letdown. As for the caldo--it was flavorful and came with a generous side of onion, cilantro, and avocado, which I loved. The shrimp-to-broth ratio was perfect, but I wish there had been more veggies in the soup. A few more chunks of potato, some carrots, maybe a bit of zucchini or even corn would have made it feel more complete. One other win: the beans. My husband couldn't stop raving about them. We're not sure if they were made in-house, but they didn't taste canned, and that's a win in our book. By the time we were leaving, more people were coming in--which was nice to see. I have a feeling El Capi might be a newer spot, and I genuinely hope it takes off. If you're in the area, give them a shot and support a small business with a ton of potential!
