I was hesitant to try this place . I'm super picky about seafood , especially fried fish (had British parents). But as soon as saw that every table had malt vinegar I knew I was in good hands . The place is quaint and clean, service was really good ---attentive and friendly ---and the food was really good. I ordered the lunch portion that comes with Cole slaw and it was more than enough for my dinner ----you can order from breakfast and lunch all day which makes things more reasonable for lighter eaters. We ended the meal with carrot cake to go. They get their desserts from a bakery in Davis and it was absolutely delicious! Be sure to get the cake ....even to go! We will be back for sure . read more

The waitress, who's last day was today (and she was more than elated about that fact!), was the only redeemable element to being there. It was tripple digits and they not only have no AC, but their only cel8ing fans weren't working. First restaurant in this area I've ever been to that was ill-prepared for the yearly miserable Summer temps. Ordered Eggs Florentine, because of the almost zero options for non-meat eaters, and ordered it because of the spinach. Well, 3 min before foods done, I am informed they have no spinach! If you like classic fish and chips then you'll be thrilled with Blue Lagoon. The fish itself was very good, mild and just as good fish should be (not fishy) The portions are huge. I went there with my GF and we both got an order and was way too much. Could easily split a fish and chips. I had the Alaskan Benedict which was salmon with avocado. SO Good! The home style potatoes were excellent, too. The manager/ waiter was super nice and attentive. I love the way the restaurant is decorated the ambiance. The booths are new and very comfortable. I will definitely go again when I am back in the area. read more

The lady serving us was really nice but nothing about the food was good. Actually, I take that back, most of my side salad with ranch was good but there were a few pieces of brown/wilted lettuce that were gross. It was a nice size though and the croutons were good. Now, for the rest of it. I was excited when the fish & ships arrived because it was a pretty large portion for the price, but the batter/breading was too thick/a bit mushy on the inside while the fish was overcooked (dry). The potato soup was lukewarm and I didn't think it was worth asking them to warm up after a taste of it. The Alfredo was a bit of a strange consistency and the shrimp were overdone but the noodles were okay. I didn't try the breadsticks but I will maybe do that another day? The place was bright and clean but a small family tried to fit in the booth behind us and they couldn't (the table and the benches don't leave much room). I'm hoping that things were just a little off because they're new (or new to me, I haven't lived in this area very long so I don't know if I've driven past it before and just missed it) and will get better with time. We have past this little gem of a restrauant many times. We stopped in today for lunch and what a great secret (hopefully it won't stay that way). The website says opens at 11am. They serve a full Breakfasr, lunch and dinner menu with a young persons menu as well. Chant'e promised us they do open at 7:30 am. She was great, super friendly and yes, a super server! I had the Tuna Melt with clam chowder and it was all PERFECTLY prepared. The taste of all was spot on. Not sure why the 2 rating but truly not our experience today. I hate to give bad reviews to a new business especially in the area of Paradise, CA where good restaurants are badly needed. Our first visit to the restaurant was not a good one. I hope we could go back to give it another chance. The staff were friendly and all smiley. The place is clean. The booths are tightly situated in the corner it's uncomfortable. The food-- I ordered a steak which was overcooked when I clealy stated I wanted medium rare. The clam chowder is okay. The salad is okay. Overall, 3 stars. read more

Service was great. The food was horrible, chowder was soupy. The fried calamari was previously frozen as was most of the food. Though everything looked great, the taste not so much. Definitely, most of it was NOT fresh. Sadly, looks like we won't be going back, the old Pelicans Roost was better, so we will have to travel there from now on. read more

Please give them another try! The first time we tried it, after they first opened, was not good, but because I want businesses to succeed here in Paradise, we gave them another try. The clam chowder was delicious, thick and creamy with lots of clams. We both ordered the cod, which was very generous and cooked perfectly. The salads are pretty basic, but the croutons are wonderful. The service was great, we will definitely be back. It's beautiful inside, the colors are great, the artwork is very cute, and they are working on the "tiny booth" problem. read more

My husband and I had lunch on Sunday here. The food was really tasty. I had a Salmon Benedict and he had Mushroom Raviolis. I absolutely loved the Salmon Benedict, it was cooked perfectly and not dry at all. Very good! Benedict sauce is one of the best I've tasted. I'm sure any of the eggs benedict choices would be excellent. My husband had the Mushroom Raviolis, which is a favorite dish for him to order at restaurants, and he thoroughly enjoyed it. My daughter ate his leftover Raviolis and said they were so good that she'd be patronizing the Blue Lagoon in the near future. Called in a take out order, was called back 5 minutes later and was told they were out of both items that we originally ordered. We then modified the order to something in stock. We were told it would be ready in 30 minutes. We arrived in 30 minutes and paid for order, after filling out Tip on the credit card receipt we were told that the food was not ready and would be at least another 10 minutes. We sat for another 20 minutes and could see half of our order sitting and getting cold. Counter person was rude and complained about people all coming in at once and was just generally unpleasant. Food was cold and bland. Very disappointed and will not be back. read more

Me and my family went in for the first time for dinner on Dec. 13,2024 in Paradise. The food was fresh and good, but the service of the supervisor or whatever his title was, was not polite. As we walk in, instead of getting a greeting, he mumbles to the new waitress if she wants him to handle us? First of all a Good evening would of been nice, and I asked the girl, are you new? And I said don't worry it's okay we understand how being new is. So we ordered and it took forever!!!!! I was not happy. Than we heard the gentleman who was in charge of tell a table next to us about running out of a certain dish, and I told my daughter did u hear that, isn't that what you ordered? He didn't come to us at all. So the waitress came and told us they were out of calamari and handed a plate of shrimp to my daughter, we were so hungry and waited so long. So my beef is the superiver went to the table he communicated about the calamari, offered them a discount and no charge on the alternate but yet we didn't get offered that. My conclusion was me and my daughter were Hispanic and we felt discrimination was happening in the same town this place belongs too. I loved here 1 yr and this is the first experience I had as a customer. read more

The restaurant was very clean. The handicapped parking was difficult to access because it was blocked by the pole and handicapped sign. The lukewarm clam chowder was celery not clam-forward, A chowder house should serve oyster crackers, not saltines, fortunately, the clams were fresh-tasting and not rubbery. The calamari was too thickly breaded and overcooked, There was a board with lunch specials. the text was tiny and there was a glare so I had the very cooperative waitress read it to me. The best part of the experience was the service. Nothing about the food suggested that it was prepared fresh. Sadly I won't be returning. BLagoon opened in the building of the former Pelican's Roost. Unlike PR, the seafood here is about what you'd get at a Denny's but 2x the cost. The deep-fried prawns came out of a box in the frig. My friend's fish & chips were way over battered (according to him) and the clam chowder was bland (out of a can maybe?). No fresh crab like Pelican's Roost either. Won't be going back...would rather drive down to Chico. It's a shame, too, because the Ridge needs decent restauants since the fire. But no, the Cosy Diner (ug) owner has a monopoly on restaurants up here and dishes out cafeteria quality junk I can make better at home. read more
