This location is not closed permanently. It was only temporarily closed because of a flood that occurred. This has been my favorite Korean restaurant for years. The soondubu and bulgogi plates are always delicious and clearly made fresh to order. The ingredients taste high quality, the portions are generous, and the food feels both comforting and healthy. What I really appreciate is the consistency -- every time we come, the quality is just as good as the last visit. We've brought several friends here over the years, and many of them swear by the Korean fried chicken. It's always crispy, flavorful, and a must-order when we come in a group. Beyond the food, the owners make this place special. The couple who run the restaurant are incredibly kind and welcoming. They always greet us with a warm smile and thank us when we leave, which makes the whole experience feel personal and genuine. You can really tell they care about their customers and their food. Pretty good for Korean food in a non-metropolitan area. They need to work on their presentation because if they had metal bowls and chopsticks it would feel a lot more like traditional korean restaurants. But yeah, the food's pretty good for Chico. read more

Was kinda craving some sort of Asian food and saw this little gem by where I was staying at and decided to come and try the food out!! The store was very clean and clean pretty empty. I was informed that Chico on Tuesday tends to be slow and many restaurants tend to be closed here on Tuesdays. But I'm glad it wasn't closed. The food here was good and actually very authentic. I'm from SoCal and this was better than some places I tried there The lady in the register was very abrupt. Didn't give off the best service and seemed like she wasn't happy sadly :(( she kinda stormed off after her shift. But maybe she didn't have a good day cuz we all human but would've been a plus if service was better with her. But the owners were so nice!! She checked up on us and also even talked to us a bit of the food. Bibimbap with beef 10/10 it was sooo good. I loved how it was presented and also love the taste. The beef trastes very sweet and savory at the same time!! Pork Bulgogi 10000/10 this has been on of my favorite pork bulgogi I tried!! It was sweet but not too sweet!! It had a bit of a fast food chain restaurant vibe to me, which had me worried. But the food was decent. I had the Bibim Naengmyeon, which was comparable to what I've had in the LA area. The sauce was a bit sweet for my taste, but otherwise, it was fine. My husband had a veggie Dolsot (Stone Pot) Bibimbop. Decent selection of veggies, and he said the Nurungji formed at the bottom was excellent (he hates it when the rice is burned, which they did not do). The menu didn't mention banchan, so I wasn't expecting anything. However, they did serve a very small helping, which was a pleasant surprise. Whenever I'm downtown I always have to stop by. Such a friendly, sweet couple that run the restaurant. They deserve all the business they can get just from their personalities. They serve the most FRESHEST, made to order food you can get around town. I ALWAYS crave their beef kimbap! My absolute favorite with some of their kimchi. I'll start off to say that the food is delicious as always although I miss them as a food truck. I get it's nice to have a spot for the space but buying it from a truck was much better. This place is pricey, look forward to paying at least $16+ for a meal. They've definitely reduced the serving sizes because it's not much food for the price. Got the soondubu which came with a plate that had: 2 scoops of rice, kimchi and salad.. an order of the Kimbap which was good & beef bulgogi that came with: 2 scoops of rice , potstickers and salad The restaurant is small but I like that it had counter seats . The food was really good but their prices deeefinitely matched it in that they were quite high. I got the pork bulgogi $21 - smash. And the boba milk tea $6 - pass. My total with tax was about $30 - really expensive imo, but that's subjective. The pork bulgogi comes with some kimchi, Korean pickles, a small salad, 2 potstickers, and some rice. Everything in the meal was tasty, flavorful, and hot. I'd absolutely pass on the boba milk tea from here. The boba lacked flavor and the texture was just ok. The milk tea was flavorful and strong, so that was good. Maybe just a tad too sweet for me. I usually get 50-75% sweetness at other places but forgot to ask and they didn't ask either so I'm not sure if theirs is adjustable; sometimes places like this have it pre-made. I'd consider getting just the milk tea here if I could make it less sweet, but then again, I wouldn't because of the smaller serving for the price of $6 in Chico. Bay Area or Sacramento boba prices for a serving smaller and lower quality than I'd get there. Service was good. Came out hot and pretty quick. You order at the counter and then the food is brought out to you. I think the place was nice inside and felt really clean, but it gives off a nice casual atmosphere that I think also added to my sticker shock. It's not even a real sit down place being that you order at the counter first. I didn't love most of the seating options for myself because I have back pain and a lot of the seats were stool-like without backs. Lots of tall counter options, which I also don't personally care for, so I chose a booth and just brought the table a lot closer to me. What's great about the seating is it's pretty inclusive. People in wheelchairs could definitely have a stool easily moved to sit at the table, and people with large bodies (taller or fatter) can definitely find a comfortable place to sit. This is really important to me. Verdict: I'd definitely eat the food again if the prices were lower, so if you that doesn't bother you and you think perhaps I'm just a cheapskate, you should definitely give this place a shot! read more

I was in town for work and was craving teriyaki chicken. Found this by driving by it first and then doing some preliminary vetting here on Yelp. I ordered the teriyaki entree and was pleasantly surprised with the plate of food. Way better than a typical teriyaki bowl. It featured some nice rice, a delightful salad, some kimchi squares, two gyoza (Yowza! Sorry, couldn't help it) and the chicken drenched in the sweet teriyaki. This is not really a real sushi restaurant. They have 7 or 8 rolls on the menu none of which are very good. It reminds me of sushi I've had a sporting events in huge stadiums. They brought us a quarter inch of soy sauce in a tiny bowl. I used two of them and still needed more. Is there a soy sauce shortage? They certainly charge enough to afford to provide an ample amount of soy sauce. Anyway, the service wasn't bad other than the soy sauce debacle, and the pot stickers were decent. My rating for this restaurant would be 5.2 out of ten. I would probably give this place 2 stars, but I'm giving 4 stars as I do not wish to hurt this business too badly. When I come out of a year-long hiatus to promote a local restaurant, it's because it's THAT good. Oshio, a food-truck-turned-restaurant business, officially opened on Wednesday, Sept. 21st, 2022 and is now re-located at 501 Main St. in Chico. Their hours are M-Sun 11am-9pm. So Yelp needs to get it together, and update this information on this page! You can also park on side streets. Setting: You order at the front counter and pay in cash or credit card before you sit down and enjoy their food. The restaurant has barstools if you're just stopping by for a quick bite by yourself. Their larger tables seat larger group of friends or family. The decor is minimalistic with Korean and Asian art influences from the main part of the restaurant to the wallpaper in the bathroom. Thus, the ambience is quiet and calming. Food: When my husband and coworker came here, we were starving, so we ordered a variety of foods from their classic food truck menu: salad with Japanese dressing, vegetable kimbap, Korean beef bulgolgi, kimchi soondubu, and chicken bibimbap. All were delicious and beautifully plated. Each entree was complemented by a rectangular plate of banchan (small side dishes, all vegetarian-friendly). The bulgolgi and soondubu came with a small bowl of rice. The bibimbap and soondubu came in stone pots which made it an even more authentic experience. My soondubu order even came with sujeo (long spoon), so I definitely felt very Korean while slurping my warm kimchi tofu stew for dinner on a brisk fall evening. Their portions are still large such that we all took leftovers home for another meal! Next on the list to try are their japchae and jjajangmyeon. Service: This is the only reason I ranked it 4 stars; else, I'd give it 5. Since they just opened and are still streamlining logistics at the register, food prep, and kitchen stations, delivery of food to the table is slow even with about 7 dine-in customers waiting in the restaurant at 5:30pm. We waited about 15 minutes before the salad and kimbap came, but the wait is worth it, because you get authentic Korean food - many of which were from their classic menu when they were still a food truck. After that, most of our food came one after the other after waiting for ~30 mins since ordering. So if you're hungry and want to do takeout, you should call ahead. If you want to dine in, be prepared to wait. Their table settings are missing, so for dine in, I'd appreciate it if they had extra plates, napkins, and utensils at the tables. This makes it easier for customers dining in groups to share food. Long story short, YOU should stop on by to try it for yourself to check out this local gem. The food diversity Chico didn't know we were missing. Food is phenomenal. I grew up with a Korean friend and been missing a lot of these foods her mama made us. This makes up for it. Awkward ordering, but the FOOD. I had a few times from the truck but now love that they have a spot. Unfortunately, prices will make this a treat more than anything, but I hope they make it.
