The restaurant is always clean, and the atmosphere is comfortable with music playing at a good volume. It is a big improvement from the days when the music was blasting under the previous owners. The food is flavorful without relying on heavy spice. The chilaquiles are very good, the steak is cooked just right, and the Jamaica tastes fresh and homemade rather than coming from a powder. I recently decided to change my diet to a more healthy way of eating. I have been looking for vegan options and overall delicious cuisines. I didn't want to skimp on taste, or authentic flavors. This was our first time entering La Cocina Grill. We were immediately greeted by Janet, she was very warm and welcoming. As I often say, it's that first impression that does it for us. We were able to choose our own seating. Opened space seating with gorgeous art work on the walls. Wheel chair accessible, not crowded or confined. I normally enjoy chili that can burn your soul. However, what they lacked in heat, they far surpassed on flavor. Besides with my diet changes heat is not something I should be eating at this time :) So this restaurant was definitely what my body needed. {IMPORTANT} a semi hotter chili available upon request. My spouse enjoyed the vegetable omelet however, did not enjoy the French fries that came with it, would have rather had either Spanish rice or potatoes, the plate did include black beans which were super delicious. My spouse did truly enjoy the food tremendously. I ordered the spinach and mushroom vegetable enchilada plate which I too requested the black beans, it also included Spanish rice. Although, it was missing avocado slices, my personal favorite, and also a suggestion it would have been more amazing. Ahhh I am so torn on this review. On one hand, the restaurant is clean, service is prompt, and *some* of the food is really good. On the flip side of that, some of the items were too pricey for what we got, and there was absolutely no heat whatsoever. It's Mexican food, and there absolutely must be spice, but there was no pica in the salsa, Chile Verde, and many other items that should have it. The absence of heat in very basic items left me without words. Please take from this review what you need. Another great meal at La Cocina! So much good food! This time I had the veggie tamale and chili relleno! So great. The rice and beans were terrific. I love it when I can get a great chili relleno. Best food ever! Let me start with the chips and salsa! Salsa has just the right amount of kick and flavor that makes your taste buds say "ariba"! The menu is filled with so many mouth watering choices, it's difficult to choose one... but guess what?! They're all customizable! The spinach enchiladas? You can add chicken to them. Or not. Want chilies? Add em'! This place is the greatest. The beans are amazing (so far I've only had the back beans) and the rice is scrumptious! I rarely endorse rice, but there you have it - It's delicious! We had the deep fried ice cream for dessert and it was a little bowl of heaven. What a hidden gem Recently we were at our in-laws and we decided to get some Mexican food. We've been to a few spots in the Beaumont area but none of them were really impressive so we decided to try a new spot and we hit that jackpot with La Cocina Grill. This place is in a quiet shopping center and relatively unassuming. At first I was skeptical but once we walked inside I was pleasantly surprised. The dining room is very spacious with both tables and booths and enough room for large parties. It was extremely clean and bright inside. We grabbed a booth and our server immediately gave us menus and their daily specials. Today happen to be "30% off for Seniors". No joke- 30% off. Needless to say, that got Stella and Don Chuck thirsty. We all ordered a drink and out came the chips and salsa. Now before I get into the food, let me just say their salsa is bomb. Seriously, it is very good. Some places have hot salsa and others have that fire roasted trash- not here. Theirs is traditional chunky style salsa and in my opinion, it's very good. Anyways, we all ordered and all our meals were very good. Portions were average but everything tasted great. I got a taco and enchilada combo. Others got a carne asada wet burrito and my lady chose enchilada suizas with black beans- all very good. After we were done, we learned they offer other specials. On Tuesday it's Taco Tuesday, Wednesday is 30% off for seniors, and Thursday is Happy Hour all day. Betty was our server and was super friendly. Food was also delicious and very well priced so you definitely get your money's worth. The restaurant is super clean so it's definitely a plus. I can also appreciate the fact that even though they close at 8pm people were walking in like 750pm to place orders to go and they were accommodated regardless while being seated with chips and Salsa while they waited for their To Go Order. I tried this restaurant at a friend's recommendation. I should have followed my instinct and gone to "In n Out." Also, when i saw that there were only three other customers in the restaurant. My mom and I both ordered the albondigas soup. I also ordered a shredded beef taco. First the chips were stale and tasted like they came out of a bag. The salsa probably came out of a can. Taco was horrific! The tortilla was fried separately and was chewey...not good. The beef was so moist it seemed as though they keep it in broth. There was no lettuce and tomato on taco, there was a teaspoon of cheese on the side along with Pico de gallo and a teaspoon guacamole. The worst taco I've ever eaten. The soup was swimming in tasteless red broth. There were 5 meatballs and very very few vegetables. About 6 pieces of celery and some very small pieces of carrots and a few onions. There was so much broth it was difficult to get the vegetables in the small soup spoon. This soup was the worst. Usually, the vegetables are bigger and include zuchinni or Mexican squash, potato and a small scoop of rice. I was so disappointed to find that this mexican restaurant would serve a very popular Mexican soup this way. I am Mexican and cook very well. However, we would like to eat out sometimes. SInce we've moved to this area we have yet to find a decent Mexican restaurant. If you're Mexican do not come to this restaurant you will be sorely disappointed. The service was decent. I wish the server would have made a recommendation or at least warned us about the food. We won't ever be back and I will tell everyone I know about this horrific restaurant that claims to serve Mexican food. You should invest in making authentic food or else close your doors. read more

Went to eat there today after church, we had eaten there about a month ago and the food and service was good so we figured we would try it again today. Boy was I in for a let down, I ordered the carne asada plate combo. The cheese enchilada had cheese that was not melted, no big deal because everything else was hot so I went with it, then my Grand Daughter had ordered a shrimp taco plate. Her 1st bite into was a long hair, pretty gross and pretty much ruined the appetite for several of us. The only person that said they were sorry was the waiter, no management came to the table to apologize until we were leaving, the only thing they did was remove the plate from the final bill, couldn't comp us for the remainder, nothing else removed from the bill. I will never return to this restaurant, food quality is less than what I expected as well as the service. You might be tempted to pass this place by from looking at the outside. That would be a terrible mistake! It is not a flashy facade but the hidden gem is on the inside. We were recommended by a local to give this place a try. We headed out a little early to beat the evening rush and found the modest dining room almost at capacity on a Sunday evening! We were greeted warmly, seated immediately and were served a basket of warm chips, menus, and tasty salsa. Not only did the server bring us the chips, he brought water and took our 'beverage order'!!! Very soon after our 'beverages' arrived another server came, saw we had our drinks, and inquired if we were ready to order, which we did! Very diverse traditional choices on the menu, we chose the 'combinations' which included cheese enchiladas, chili rellenos and tacos. The tacos had more meat than anything else and were delicious! The chili relleno and enchilada were also very good! All of this being said..along with the good food and service, being former food service workers, we noticed and extremely dedicated staff that works together, has their head on swivel making sure each and every customer is attended to, and is not ignored, and is well taken care of. We are moving to Sun lakes and we were looking forward to eating at a place nearby. Unfortunately I have an issue with the flavor of most enchilada sauces because I get acid reflux. I asked for a taster and was told the kitchen will not do that because it was a sample. I would have ordered them if I like the sauce so it seemed a little unreasonable since it wasn't a "sample". So excited to try a new Mexican restaurant out here in the Beaumont/Banning area. We've tried several different Mexican restaurants in the neighboring cities and other than Las Casitas, never returned to any of them. As soon as we entered, we were greeted with a happy "Welcome" and seated immediately. Nice open space, plenty of room between the tables, we sat in a comfy booth. Minutes later, our server Wendy brought a basket of fresh chips and salsa. The salsa was good enough, we asked if they had a salsa with a little more heat, but they didn't have one. We ordered a large guacamole with a side of jalapeño. They diced it up perfectly! The guacamole was nice, thankfully they didn't drown it with lemon juice. Some cilantro and a bit more onions would have been nice, but once we added the jalapeños with salt n pepper, it was tasty! We shared 3 different meals, we tried their green n red enchilada (green was better) a yummy shredded beef taco, a chicken chimichanga, and a chili relleno. The chili relleno was the best we've had in months!! Sauce was light and flavorful and they use yummy jack cheese. Oh and their refried pinto beans are so reminiscent of our Mom's style. We're going to return to try their Diablo shrimp, we saw another table having it being delivered and it looked delicious! read more
