We ordered take out from here which included acp both regular and with veggies and chicken with mole. I tried both dishes and found the chicken in the mole sauce was more tender than the acp chicken. We ordered a side of queso and it came in a very small container. Would not do that again . There were plenty of tortillas to go around. I was disappointed that the acp had so little cheese in it. The chicken was kind of tough and dry due to lack of sauce. The order fed 4 adults and one child and there was leftovers....only the acp, all the other items got eaten. This place is our go to place when we want to eat authentic Mexican food closeby. This restaurant is spacious with good parking spots and ample availability even on weekends. The service is fast and efficient. The food is the best part about this place. We have been there few times and love their food. We prefer their beer more than cocktails since I feel cocktails are more of decorative than taste. Order pitcher if you are all beer drinkers and are planning to have more than a glass. Their menu is huge like a typical Mexican place but we have our favorites. Chicken fajitas, chicken quesadillas, fish tacos or shrimp and chicken chipotle. Everything tastes great and is cooked to perfection. Chicken and fish are tender and flavorful. We also enjoy their Mexican rice and beans which takes all of their entrees to next level. If you are two people and both like fajitas, please order their $37 fajitas for two which is a good deal. I just went here for the first time. I really liked it. The service is friendly and the ambiance is themed and comfortable. My wife got the steak fajitas which were great and a large portion. We're doing keto and they allowed us to sub more salad for the rice and beans. I got the botana de carnitas which was perfect for me and keto. It's just fried chunks of seasoned pork with avocado, tomatoes, onions, and whole pickled jalapeños(no substitutes needed). The pork was well seasoned and perfectly cooked! I would say the table salsa is almost just canned tomatoes and the queso is pretty mild but they do have some spicier salsa which is great by itself or adds a nice kick to the table salsa and queso. The offer a red version of the more spice salsa but I didn't try it, next time I will. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu. Absolutely delicious! Every time! The food is fresh, delicious, and the chefs cook quickly for you. The staff are so friendly and welcoming, and carry-out by phone is very easy and efficient. Rosalina was our server the next time I went back. She was very attentive and efficient! The food came out quickly again; we were in and out within 31 minutes. The Torta Al Pastor is delicious! We ordered to go and it was pretty fast, easy to order. The steak quesadilla was delicious. The crispy and soft beef tacos were good although the taco meat didn't have much flavor or spice. The tamales were very disappointing. Any tamale I've had is corn masa with a center of meat filling. This had small pieces of pork throughout the masa and then a meat sauce on top. Not quite chili con carne or salsa. Queso and salsa were ok but the chips were stale. We heated those up to help with that. read more

So 5 weeks ago I gave a rating of 4 stars. Today's food experience was mediocre at best. Two in my party ordered lunch specials which were meh. I ordered the taco salad which came with a typical size shell but the "salad" only filled the lower . Then I broke of a piece of shell to consume. The shell was disgusting. Ok I have to start by saying this place gets 5 stars for a lot of reasons...first greeted at the door with hola que tal and very friendly staff. Secondly I think or know Alfonso was the best waiter I have ever had anywhere hands down..,I hope my husband gave him a good tip. He had never met me yet when I asked for extra lemons he didn't give me just one he gave me like 5 for my water. Asked for extra limes later gave me a whole small bow of freshly cut limes. He was truly amazing and when I come back I will definitely ask for him. I ordered a margarita on the rocks no salt with 1800 margarita was ok. Hubs ordered the beef burrito very good flavor. I asked him about the ceviche dish and he came back (I never asked for this) and brought me a small plate to try so next time if I liked it I could order. By the way the shrimp ceviche dish might be 15.$ but fresh and very worth it. I will definitely come back the drink was not at all weak it was very good in fact pretty strong! If you like good Mexican food, don't come here. They completely messed up one of the most basic menu items (ACP) and required me to drive back there for a refund. I offered pictures but they wouldn't accept. Instead I got dry chicken and rice, with no cheese. Fortunately, in this world of uncertainty, nobody can say no to Mexican. Our party of four walked in during the middle of the rush, but we were sat and greeted quickly. The menu is as large as any other Mexican restaurant's. Lunch specials here are reasonably priced, and I went with the Texas Fajita: steak, chicken, and shrimp for ~$10. Like any other Mexican sit down restaurant, the chips and salsa came first. The quality of this classic combination usually is a sign of things to come. Fortunately, at La Cocina, the chips and salsa were simply phenomenal. One basket was not enough for our four-top, as we needed multiple refills. Our entrees arrived before I filled up on the absolutely delicious chips and salsa. I was delighted with my initial glances. The fajita portioning was huge, and it came with the requisite plate of rice; beans with cheese; lettuce; sour cream; and guacamole. Everything tasted just as great as it looked. All of the meat was seasoned beautifully, and that's anything but a given with shrimp. This birthday lunch [Yet another birthday?? I'm so old... ;_;] concluded with the time-honored tradition of the staff fitting me with a sombrero and singing Happy Birthday to me (not in Spanish, unfortunately). They served me a huge ice cream sundae in a taco salad shell, and it was incredible. The saltiness of the shell combined perfectly with the sweetness of the ice cream and chocolate syrup to create an unforgettable dessert. Places like El Cerro and Cueva De Lobos made me realize that not all Mexican restaurants are good. La Cocina has more than restored my faith in Mexican restaurants. My taco was full of good, shredded beef and the quesadilla was plump and well-stuffed with chicken. Both solid renditions of Mexican-American food. While I may prefer a more authentic Mexican meal, for lunch La Cocina does a really nice job. Tasty, filling Mexican eats served fast and definitely a better deal than other local Mexican joints IMO. We have visited here a few times for lunch or early dinner. It's been easy to get a table, and service has been pretty good. The food is your standard Mexican that you find at a lot of Mexican food spots in this area. I have had some of their combination meals as well as their lunch fajitas. The lunch fajitas are a huge portion and I still took half home for leftovers. They have yummy horchata, and offer one free refill (it's in a pretty large cup to begin with). I had a chile poblano, and it was huge and delicious for $4.50. My family enjoyed the tamales, chile relleno, taco salad, and vegetarian burrito. Went here last night for dinner and the entire family woke up super sick this morning with terrible stomach aches, diarrhea, and vomiting and was some of the worst pain i've ever experienced. After a long conclusion, the one thing we all had in common with our meals was the cheese, some of us having worse symptoms than others since some only tried a little bit of cheese. We were immediately seated and given chips, then for the next 20 minutes we sat in the both and tried to get someone to take our order or at least bring us water. Many restaurant employees walked by and smiled, but would not stop. We finally got up and left, on the way out I told the hostess who seated us we were leave because no one would take our order. What can I say.... I used to come to this restaurant all the time and it was great. I moved and had stopped coming because the restaurant was farther away than I wanted to drive. I was in the area today and decided to stop in. It was a mistake. Against my better judgement I ordered a chile relleno. Relleno means stuffed, in case you don't speak Spanish. What I got was a pile of ground beef with a poorly cooked slice of pepper slapped on top. The skin wasn't taken off the pepper so it was rubbery, the pepper wasn't dredged in egg, and it most certainly was not stuffed. I didn't even get a whole pepper. Not even half. I got a square of pepper smacked on ground beef that tasted like dog food. I would be ashamed to serve this crap. read more
