As soon as I walked into the door the hospitality was great. Felt like I was at home. Plenty of choices to choose from on the menu. I decided to go with the chileaquiles rojos and the food was so authentic. Music playing was great and being able to see the city while eating truly completed the experience.

This place is very close to Voodoo Donuts. We happened to be in the area and based on a review in infatuation decided to do the happy hour (3 pm onwards). We ordered off the happy hour menu. There is a salsa bar which is meh! Got the Tacos Dorado Chicken, the Tacos El Pastor, the Veggie tacos, and the Tostadas de Chileajo. When the food arrived, it looked very nice. Taste wise it was ok. Texture was good. It was lacking seasoning including salt. Kind of disappointed that the review called it one of the best Southern Mexican Food in Capitol Hill but obviously something has changed since the review? Note: their menu on their website hasn't been updated.

It was delicious to where we went twice for dinner while out here to visit. I got the pozole soup both times because it was comforting during the cold, rainy weather and tasted great. The flavor was rich and the pork was tender. They also were very generous with the pork. Their Jamaica agua fresca wasn't too sweet and a refreshing addition to the meal. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. Their chips were crispy and light. I liked that you can see them cooking in front of you. Service was great. You do likely need to flag them down when you're ready for the church when they're busy like we did. It can get a little loud at the peak times but you can still hear your own conversations.

First time trying this restaurant after walking past it for years. It was really delicious! I had costillas de puerco. It came with rice beans and fresh hand made tortillas! The self serve salsa bar is a really nice touch for anyone who is a salsa lover! The salsas were spicy and packed with flavor! The staff was friendly and attentive while not being over the top. The decor was cute and gave the restaurant a personal feel. I will definitely be returning, and recommending La Cocina Oaxaqueña to my friends!

Great easy location, host was so friendly & helpful Our server was nice as well. Loved the authentic flavors, brought me back to when I was a kid. The guacamole was perfect, salsas were delish! Wish rice & beans was included in the main dishes Libby was clean and organized Small but nice didn't feel crowded, they also have outside seating Definitely coming back. Family of 5 $198. & change

I really enjoyed this spot! I've come twice in the past month. This place is pretty authentic, I've had a lot of Mexican food before but there's a lot of stuff on the menu that I wasn't familiar with. Our waiter the first time was extremely nice and personable. He broke down the menu for us and we had a nice conversation with him. The memlitas were unique, it had a flavor that I hadn't had before but it was addictive the more I ate. The wet chicken burrito was massive and satisfying, and the pollo en salsa de tomatillo was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can sit indoor or outdoor, and I love the decorations inside. Everyone was super kind and helpful. Definitely a great experience overall.

I loved this place, but we stopped by recently to have dinner and there were so many rats around the building. I just couldn't bring myself to go in. They were so close.

No wait on a Friday at 7:30 pm. Happy Hour is from 3pm-5pm & 9pm-close, so keep that in mind. Food was alright, not anything amazing, especially for what you pay for. For the best bang for your buck, get the wet burrito. It is pretty big for under $20. The ambiance was alright, nothing too crazy. I liked the fact that the kitchen grills were right there behind the bar so you can watch. The margs were good, just wish my enchiladas were better.

I shared the mole enchiladas and lengua en salsa verde from this Mexican place…read more Of these, the lengua en salsa verde was my favorite. The beef tongue was cooked pretty well. Although it's naturally very fatty, the flavor and juiciness was retained after cooking - so they didn't screw it up. The salsa verde was a very nice accompaniment, as it tasted light, fresh, and a good complement to the fat of the meat. The mole enchiladas were less good. The mole sauce used leaned way too heavily on a sweet flavor - having little to no nuttiness whatsoever. It didn't taste anywhere close to some of the best moles I've had. The enchilada underneath was fine - nothing special. Both dishes came with beans and rice. Both were slightly above average, but nothing to write home about. I would say the portions were well sized in terms of overall amount, but the enchiladas were quite small compared to the beans and rice. With these two dishes we ended up around 28 per person. Overall, it's average Mexican food. 6.5/10

(those burritos are massive omg.) the mole enchiladas were SOOO good, as were the cashew poblano enchiladas. their sauces are so yummy and the presentation was on-point for both enchiladas. i also had a bite of my friend's carne en morita which is a slow cooked pork dish, and i was obsessed. the only thing i'd say to pass on would be the tacos. drinks were also great and had amazing presentation. i was very satisfied with my carajillo and my friend's passion fruit mojito was also very tasty (you could NOT taste the alc in it i swear) overall, koko's is a great spot if you're looking to dress up for a cute night out but also craving some tasty mexican food.

However, I just found out you can put your self on the waitlist on their website if it's busy. Sundays are the best days to go as it's not as busy and they were able to accommodate a big party. The restaurant also has a parking lot for people to park at as well, so that is a plus! The drink menu is very limited, they don't have a full bar. I ordered the skinny margarita and it was good. The food is authentic and if you are looking for authentic Mexican food, D'La Santa is the spot. We ordered the queso and the rajitas. Both appetizers are really good, came out super hot. Highly recommend. I got the carne asada plate and added an extra mini quesadilla. The carne is very seasoned so you have to eat it with the tortilla to balance out the saltiness. So many of our regular spots had lines out the door, which was no surprise, but we ended up getting a table here. Figured Mexican food is hard to mess up. Started with drinks- THE BEST MARGARITA I HAVE EVER HAD. It was perfectly balanced, fresh, just perfect to me. My fiance got a horchata and loved it too. They have an option where you can try ALL of their dips for $20, which I couldn't resist. It was so fun, they had like 9 different ones! I got the shrimp tacos and they were so flavorful that I almost gasped. The creamy sauce, crunchy veggie toppers, smooth avocado, and perfectly cooked shrimp...just wow. I will be dreaming about this dish for years to come. I am a pescatarian and gluten free and there were TONS of options for me. They mostly use corn for everything, not flour. I was disappointed to…read moresee that the menu has changed a lot (and not just seasonally, but just a completely different menu) since the last time I visited (maybe a year ago or so). Before it seemed like Maiz Molino was focusing on elevated, unique Mexican dishes (shown in the pics in my prior review such as short rib, and other sort of "fusion" dishes, and more seafood focused, etc.) Now, the menu seems way more generic and casual like enchiladas, tacos, quesadillas, tamales, etc. just offered w/ different proteins. They are still focusing on maiz but just a bit more generic in the preparation and offerings. Also, they had 2 separate menus which was a bit confusing. One is a generic all day menu and then another menu had brunch and dinner on it. It was around 5:30 p.m. but they were out of a particular steak dish that we were interested in. Service was friendly. We had enchiladas, a dip sampler (for appetizer) and Tlacoyos. Everything was fine but nothing really stood out, sadly. It wasn't very busy while we were there, so hoping that they are doing ok as a business. I would love to come back if they brought back the old menu w/ things that you cannot really find elsewhere, including the great cocktail menu and desserts that were offered previously.
