Wow. Everybody was so sweet, amazing food, great drinks, and not unreasonably priced.

I'm SO glad we stumbled into this place during our stay in Seattle. My husband and I are Mexican American from SoCal right outside of LA, so when it comes to Mexican food we do have high standards to say the least I travel a lot for work and always try Mexican food wherever I go, mostly due to curiosity and adventure. Frankly, our expectations are often pretty low the further we get from the border of Mexico. But this place blew us away! So authentic and well thought out, from the salsa bar, the freshly fried tortilla chips and my posole was absolutely incredible! Felt like I was eating at a relatives home, staff was friendly enough and the place is so clean and cutely decorated. 100% will be returning the next time we make a trip out to Seattle, thank you to the team for providing such a great experience for those of us who just miss home read more

First off I live in Texas so I am always a bit skeptical of Mexican Food outside of Texas, Arizona, New Mexico and California. That being said the I had the carne asada wet burrito with both read and verde sauce on top. It had a really good flavor! The carne asada was chopped pretty small so it was not easy to get a whole bite. Overall it was delicious and hit the spot. I am not big on paying for chips and salsa which $5.00 especially when I have to get up and walk over to the salsa bar. I wish they would have labeled the salsa as well. The vibe was casual and they have outdoor covered patio. Now on to the service: first my burrito came out very quick and was hot. The big reason for two star is the lack of service by the wait staff. I ordered a soda water with Ice which I was not charged for. I hate when I have to pay for carbonated water. Sadly the your server did not pay attention to my drink or check on me for most of my meal. She finally came over and I asked for a refill she took the glass but did not return. When she walked back over I had to remind her of my soda water. When she brought the check I put my card down and again it took a while for her to return. I would be willing to extend some grace if the restaurant was packed but it was virtually empty. I base a lot of my review on service and food quality. But slow service or lack there of will generally mean I don't return even though the food was good and came out quick. Too bad because it was a good meal especially for the price $24.00 including the chips and salsa before tax. Maybe you will have a better experience. read more

As soon as I walked into the door the hospitality was great. Felt like I was at home. Plenty of choices to choose from on the menu. Food tastes fine and service was friendly but the portion size of Camarones Al Mojo de Ajo (shrimp rice dish) was a joke. The edible part was literally five small shrimps and two thin slices of avocado/tomatoes and white rice... This place is very close to Voodoo Donuts. We happened to be in the area and based on a review in infatuation decided to do the happy hour (3 pm onwards). We ordered off the happy hour menu. There is a salsa bar which is meh! Got the Tacos Dorado Chicken, the Tacos El Pastor, the Veggie tacos, and the Tostadas de Chileajo. When the food arrived, it looked very nice. Taste wise it was ok. Texture was good. It was lacking seasoning including salt. Kind of disappointed that the review called it one of the best Southern Mexican Food in Capitol Hill but obviously something has changed since the review? It was delicious to where we went twice for dinner while out here to visit. I got the pozole soup both times because it was comforting during the cold, rainy weather and tasted great. The flavor was rich and the pork was tender. They also were very generous with the pork. Their Jamaica agua fresca wasn't too sweet and a refreshing addition to the meal. The guacamole was fresh and tasty. Their chips were crispy and light. I liked that you can see them cooking in front of you. Service was great. You do likely need to flag them down when you're ready for the church when they're busy like we did. It can get a little loud at the peak times but you can still hear your own conversations. read more

Visiting Seattle for the first time, I stopped here because it was next to my bnb and advertised $6 Happy Hour well drinks. I ordered a Cuba Libre (rum and Coke) and was charged $11. When I questioned it, management first said a "well drink" meant a shot, then claimed a Cuba Libre isn't a well drink. That explanation made no sense, as it's simply a rum and Coke with lime. I ended up paying about $10 more than expected for the drinks. The food was okay but overpriced. Disappointing experience with an extreme lack of customer service from the staff. read more

First time trying this restaurant after walking past it for years. It was really delicious! I had costillas de puerco. It came with rice beans and fresh hand made tortillas! The self serve salsa bar is a really nice touch for anyone who is a salsa lover! The salsas were spicy and packed with flavor! The staff was friendly and attentive while not being over the top. The service was great, but little bang for your buck. The Al pastor and asada tacos are two for $11 and they really don't load them up. With two drinks and the four tacos and chips and salsa costed $60 and just wasn't worth it.. still left hungry. It tasted great but we won't be back till they increase their portion sizes. I really enjoyed this spot! I've come twice in the past month. This place is pretty authentic, I've had a lot of Mexican food before but there's a lot of stuff on the menu that I wasn't familiar with. Our waiter the first time was extremely nice and personable. He broke down the menu for us and we had a nice conversation with him. The memlitas were unique, it had a flavor that I hadn't had before but it was addictive the more I ate. The wet chicken burrito was massive and satisfying, and the pollo en salsa de tomatillo was tender, flavorful, and cooked perfectly. You can sit indoor or outdoor, and I love the decorations inside. No wait on a Friday at 7:30 pm. Happy Hour is from 3pm-5pm & 9pm-close, so keep that in mind. Food was alright, not anything amazing, especially for what you pay for. For the best bang for your buck, get the wet burrito. It is pretty big for under $20. The ambiance was alright, nothing too crazy. Came by for lunch on a whim on Saturday 4/27 and was pleasantly surprised. We were seated immediately. Tables and chairs were clean, as was the bathroom. House tortilla chips and salsa bar were excellent, as was the guacamole. Probably could have eaten four or five bowls of the tortilla chips and a gallon of the pico de gallo, except we also had to eat lunch. Got a carafe of sangria, ceviche de camaron, cocktel de camaron, chile relleno, filete de pescado, a wet burrito, and tacos al pastor. Met a friend here for a drink and bite before heading down to Town Hall. Really mellow on an early Wednesday evening. I think there were maybe two other tables occupied, so we had our pick of seats. House margarita was good. Definitely more on the acidic side than sweet, which I prefer. Chips and guacamole were really great, and I think all the salsas at the salsa bar were a hit. They have a vegetarian section of their menu. I ordered the tostada de chileajo (sauteed red Chile potatoes topped with cabbage, salsa roja, and queso fresco). Filling, but I think it wasn't quite what I was in the mood for, and the raw cabbage ended up giving me a stomach ache. My friend said her fish tacos were really good. This was the second Mexican restaurant I tried in Seattle, and it was amazing too! They had a great outdoor seating patio with lots of room, and it was nice to sit at while the weather is nice. All the food was so tasty, flavorful, and filling. I loved the Tostadas de Tinga, one of my favorite bites of food. For an appetizer it came with a lot of meat with amazing flavor in each bite. I got a few different items and the staff were really nice when I picked up my order. chips and salsa: large order of chips with one container of salsa. I got salsa roja and it was a little too watery. Chips were slated well. Mole Negro Oaxaqueño: one of their specials and I wish the chicken portion was bigger - it was only a small piece of thigh in a pool of mole. The mole wasn't super sweet which was good. The chicken was juicy and the rice was slightly salty and garlicky which I liked. rice and beans: The beans were a little bland and the rice was good but oily.
