This has been bookmarked for a while and the only regret I have is that I didn't get here sooner. This food is terrific, the vibe is hilarious, the servers are downright fantastic. Andrew (our server) introduced us to his sidekick, who was in training. Love that personal, hands on approach for a mew team member, and Sidekick did a great job in monitoring our table and replenishing water. Have to stop here and express my appreciation for Andrew and how he took the time to explain the philosophy and genuine team vibe of the restaurant. Oftentimes when a restaurant adds a flat 20% gratuity, you get the feeling this is not passed on to the servers. Not so here. He explained that it's shared among the servers, bar, and other staff, with only a bit retained by management, but even that finds its way into their wages. Terrific work environment and happy to see it. It definitely shows in the level of service. But we're here to eat. Didn't take a picture, but one of my dining companions ordered the burrito with red chili sauce and it was very good. Just the right amount of heat in the sauce. The Cantina celebrates Taco Tuesday, so I took advantage of this. You get the opportunity to try 5 different street tacos for the low price of $15. For another $4 you order it fully loaded which is a steal (guac, pickled onions, lettuce, giardano, crema, and another lovely sauce). Each of the tacos were really delicious and packed full of flavor. I especially enjoyed the cauliflower and the beef. Was surprised how much I liked the popcorn chicken - still juicy and not greasy in the least. Andrew treated us to a round of the hatch green chili. I was delighted because it was a dish I wanted to try. He described it perfectly: a little kick, but you can't stop eating it. He was right. A bowl of this in the winter with their cornbread (which I'm confident will be delicious) will preempt a winter cold. The sauces on the table are not to be ignored either. The green chili sauce was fruity with a little heat, the scorpion chili brings the heat, but their homemade chili oil is phenomenal. I could put this on everything. In short, the Cantina delivers. Excellent food, knowledgeable, enthusiastic, and fun staff, and a cool vibe. I'll bet the cocktails will also be good. Definitely adding to the regular rotation! read more

Food and presentation is meh. The neighborhood is absolutely dreadful, and they tack on an automatic 20% "service charge" with or without good service giving you no choice to decide whether or not the service warrants the charge. I own an e-commerce company, just like Amazon, and could you imagine your Amazon order having a 20% "service charge" to help offset labor costs. This is becoming a trend and I'm avoiding eateries that do this. read more

I was traveling in Seattle and had a taste for Mexican food and this beautiful quaint upscale restaurant was having happy hour! The menu was inviting and the happy hour prices were making me do a happy dance. I tried a little of everything their ribs were succulent and seasoned well, the popcorn chicken was juicy and had a perfectly fried seasoned crispy crust. I would give them both an 8 out of 10. Their queso fondito was disappointing not much flavor I would not recommend ordering it. The star of the show were their Happy Hour Tacos!!! I had the steak tacos and they were everything you want in a taco. A perfect bite, juicy, flavorful, and tender. They also provided three different types of sauces that elevated the taco to another level. Hands down the taco is a 10 out of 10!!! I went here on invitation of their holiday event which featured free food (taco bar) with drinks for purchase. This review lightly touches on the free food (not part of the rating) while emphasizing on the drinks which I purchased. As for the food, they had carnitas, rice, beans, enchiladas, fries, chips, salsa, and a variety of baked goods which are pretty good but definitely not at the level of true restaurant quality food as they pump out a large quantity of food to serve the crowd. The drinks we got were the Hot and Bothered Margarita and the Coquito. The margarita felt a bit watered down but still had the alcohol strength, with a very faint spicy kick. The tajin rim was extremely salty. I would skip this one. However, the Coquito was very good - sweet and creamy, and they said they had no eggnog in it but it tasted very much like eggnog! Service was good as it is as if there's dine in service during the event, but the cocktails are not all good, but the ones that are good definitely shine read more

Caught Hatch for HH and it was really pleasant! We came here on Sunday at like 5 and it was pretty quiet - to be expected. We were freaking ravenous and needed a drink however and their happy hour didn't disappoint. We got the birria, 3 tacos, popcorn chicken, Crunchwrap, and two prickly pear margs. It was solid HH food- not extremely mindblowing but very satisfying! In the end the total came out to 80 bucks (22% gratuity is automatically added). I was't blown away by the value but we had a great time and our server was spectacular! I would venture again for HH! read more

We stopped in here for a midafternoon meal and grateful for the timing and a nearly empty venue to relax a bit, but then disappointed by the volume of the music and extremely loud banging emanating from the kitchen area, apparently due to food prep? My tostada (Colorado option from the happy hour menu) was delicious and flavorful. Waitstaff was fantastic and helpful. Venue is lovely. Price is as expected. Location is easily accessible. Seating was comfortable for some in our party, depending on whether seated in a chair or on the bench side of the table for 6 and thus requiring scooting to the middle spot. Food was great, but the service wasn't. I'm not a fan of restaurants that automatically add gratuity it often feels like the effort drops, and unfortunately that was the case for us. Our server Samantha seemed disengaged, and the experience didn't match the quality of the food. It was not even a busy night, their were maybe 5 other tables in the restaurant. It was really offputting. The watermelon marg was to die for. No Notes The queso was odd, it was kind of a whipped gritty texture, not your normal queso The Christmas style burrito was good! The ambiance was lacking, bugs flying about near the fruit juicer they had sitting on a standing bar counter, the server sprayed us with the table cleaner while we were eating our food, the bathrooms were already dirty even though it was an hour in to open, but the food itself was not good either, the bacon was super greasy, the eggs in the huevos rancheros was over hard even though I asked for over easy, the cornbread was hard and tasted old. Came for brunch on a Saturday and there was no wait at all! The food was served pretty fast too, and the servers were cool. Everything came with a really large portion of food and we took home leftovers for each of our items. The black coffee was also pretty good. Not sure if it's bottomless though, as I didn't ask for a refill. They only serve the brunch menu on the weekends (until 3pm I believe). 1) Chips and salsa 5/5: Loved the flavor of the salsa, definitely had a kick to it. Loved how crunchy the chips were! 2) Chicken and corncakes 2.5/5: Really interesting take on chicken and waffles. I was craving something sweet and savory so this was the perfect item for that. The corncakes had a texture that resembled a fusion of cornbread and pancakes. There was a slight acidic flavor to it that I didn't really enjoy, not sure if it was from the chiles. The popcorn chicken was totally bland and flavorless, so you definitely need to dip it in salsa or ketchup. 3) Breakfast burrito with green salsa 3/5: Tasty fillings, but the salsa smothered on top was sort of congealed and thick... Overall, I found Hatch to be a great weekend brunch spot, especially for large groups. You can make reservations and it wasn't too busy to begin with. The food was amazing especially the Hatch brown tacos. It's fried potatoes and mild hatch chilis sitting on a cheesy sauce and topped with corn. The beans and rice were above average, and the watermelon salad had a bright freshness to it, especially where topped with cheese. The servers were helpful and kind. My only complaint was it was challenging for a short person like me to eat food at the bar due to the thick pad around the edge of the bar, I had to lean forward awkwardly and spilled a lot. Made advance reservations for a group of 8 and they were able to seat us together. They do add a 20% surcharge inclusive of tips. We'd come in fairly late on a whim, having been at a couple of other bars in Belltown. We happened to get there just in time for their late night Happy Hour (starts at 9). We ordered the Chips and Salsa with Guacamole and their Queso Fondito and a bunch of chips, plus two drinks (since we'd be drinking ciders, we ordered ciders). The food was decent, but not stellar. I've had better guacamole. But we were hungry and polished it all off! The staff was exceptional. We were seated with a smile and tended two the whole time. There was a lot of good-natured ribbing between our server and us, which really added to the pleasantness of the night. They had a one-person band playing that night, and he was amazing. He could imitate just about anyone. We asked him to sing Alanis Morisette, and he sang "You Oughta Know" without missing a beat. And OMG, it was perfect! And just about everything else we'd ask for, he'd start playing the chords, then start filling in the song. Amazing musician. Really made the night. Will we be back to Hatch? My husband, my 8-year-old, and I were visiting Seattle and staying nearby. We stopped in for drinks, and Kacie was wonderful enough to seat us early. We enjoyed it so much that we made reservations to return for dinner that evening. The food was excellent, the drinks were great, and both Kacie and Samantha provided outstanding service. Unfortunately, what should have been a great dining experience ended very poorly because of how management handled a disruptive group of guests. We were seated next to a large party that was frequently standing between our table, another table, and the TV showing the World Cup. Another table politely asked if they could sit down or move slightly so they could see the game, and the group was happy to accommodate. We made the same polite request once, and they were equally gracious. We understood they were gathering to mourn someone, and we were respectful of that throughout the evening. About an hour later, another nearby table made the exact same request. This time, two members of the group became aggressive, repeatedly shouting, "This isn't a f---ing watch party," and "Shut the f--- up." over and over again, countless times. One even challenged another guest to "go outside" to fight. All of this happened in front of our 8-year-old. When my husband simply asked them not to use that language around our child, one person responded, "Keep your f---ing kid at home." The restaurant has a kids' menu and provides coloring activities, clearly they're ok with my kid being there. The most disappointing part was management's response. A man who identified himself as an owner chose to move our table--and the other table that had also been targeted--instead of addressing the guests who were yelling, threatening other customers, and creating the disturbance. We were less than 20 minutes from finishing our meal, making the decision even more frustrating. When I asked what he planned to do about the disruptive guests, he told me he needed to move us first and would deal with them afterward. He never did. It was clear they were regulars, and they were allowed to continue their behavior without consequence. While he did comp our dessert and brought our daughter ice cream, that didn't make up for allowing multiple tables to be verbally harassed. We were understanding and compassionate toward a group that was grieving. We asked only once, politely, if they could move so we could see the game, and they had no issue with the request. What is unacceptable is management choosing to inconvenience respectful customers instead of addressing the people who were yelling obscenities, threatening other guests. So sure I recommend the food and the wait stress service, but I don't recommend going if you're not ok with being yelled at by lunatics. read more

This was a great Mexican restaurant. I wasn't a huge fan of the queso but the homemade chips and salsa were to die for the seasoning was killer. The servers were super kind and the food and drinks came out quick. My boyfriend ordered a house margarita and I got a michelada. Both were fantastic, the marg was strong and the michelada was super flavorful. We shared the Queso Fundido and some Carnitas Tacos and both were fantastic. Everything came out hot, fresh, well seasoned, and super quick. I have to give a special shoutout to the rice that came with the tacos. I typically don't touch the rice that comes with my taco orders, but we ate every bite of it. The texture reminded me a bit of Taiwanese sticky rice, and it was some of the most flavorful Mexican rice I've ever had. read more

I get in and the bartender is friendly and welcoming (and also the host, at this point!). He asks if he can help and I say no. Then I quickly change my kind, looking at the exhaustive menu of margaritas. I ask for a more tart drink and he quickly suggests something, letting me taste sample. The Blood Orange Margarita - it was just tart enough, fresh, and insanely delicious! I order one and it comes in a cute ceramic cup with a special "house salt" that is the best. Went here before a night out for a bachelorette party. The owner brought us all complimentary shots and made small smoothie shots for those of us who don't drink. The tacos were delicious! My one negative is the tortilla chips - it is hard to describe, but they weren't anything special. Some were salted well, some not at all. Some warm, some not. The same bowl of chips was hit-or-miss.
