wasn't a big fan of this location compared to the Warren one. I wish the birria tacos came with more broth but the food was overall ok. The server was attentive to us throughout as well

Medium to large venue that sits at the corner of a Main Street. Metered street parking on the main street & limited parking on the closest side street. Typical "Mexican" restaurant interior with both high top seating & standard table seating. Staff were friendly and efficient, drinks were nice a strong. Food was good and this place could definitely be a local spot to go to on a whim. We had Quesadillas de Birria, Volcano Burrito-which they cut up and classify it as "sushi burritos," and Margaritas. It is important to note that the complimentary chips and salsa were good. Everything was good and I would suggest if someone was asking for something in the area, albeit I would run back here on a normal day. Nothing against the venue, please do not think that, it's just not my overall preferred type of food. Grades: Complimentary Chips & Salsa: B+ Quesadillas de Birria: A Volcano Burrito: B+ Margarita: A

Came to La Colina Mexican Cantina on Halloween and had such a fun experience! The staff got into the spirit with the cutest little costumes, and we even got to vote for our favorites. My partner and I tried the margarita flight which did not disappoint. For dinner, we had tostadas, the enchiladas in the green sauce, which were flavorful and satisfying, and we finished with churros for dessert sweet, crispy, and just what we needed to end the meal. The vibe was lively and welcoming, I loved the art they had inside. The staff was attentive and friendly, and the food and drinks did not disappoint. Definitely a spot I'll be coming back to.

I've had this spot on my list for a while, and I finally checked it out with a friend on a Friday night. It was busy (always a good sign), but we got seated right away outside. Inside, the decor is super cool and stylish. Menus are on iPads with photos, which made ordering easy. Service was great from start to finish -- both the host and our waiter were friendly and attentive. We started with the Jalapeños del Norte, which are bacon-wrapped jalapeños stuffed with chicken chipotle and cheese. They were spicy. Like, nose-running spicy. But the bacon was perfectly crisp. For my main, I went with the Cheetos Burrito -- mostly out of curiosity. It was good, but I couldn't really taste the Cheetos, so I'd probably try something different next time. My friend got the fajitas, which came with plenty of meat and looked amazing -- definitely the better pick between the two. Overall, it's a cool spot with great service and decent food. If I go back, I would try another meal, and not get the Cheetos again.

The food and service was incredible. The food was flavorful and came out quick, and our server was great. The place itself is nice as well! I would definitely recommend going!

Good for happy hour drinks We enjoyed our happy hour Margaritas. Our appetizers were adequate. The room is large and comfortable. The staff is attentive.

Vibrant Mexican restaurant in Cranford, which always seems busy during dinnertime. Food is a little pricey but tasty - I was happy to find some authentic Mexican dishes on the menu vs. more American/Tex Mex. I'm a fan of their al pastor tacos, and would happily order again. Their enchiladas with mole was pretty good too, though I found it a bit too heavy and rich for one person alone. Service was surprisingly fast and friendly. Overall, fun and lively vibes!

La Colina Mexican Cantina is the kind of place that feels like a hidden gem. It's smaller than Meximodo in Metuchen, but that actually adds to its charm; it's cozy, calm, and has a welcoming vibe that's perfect for a laid-back meal. The staff was kind and attentive, which really made the whole experience smooth and pleasant. We got seated right away since we came during a slower time, and they brought out complimentary chips and salsa without us even asking something you don't see often anymore. While the drink menu isn't huge, what they do offer is crafted well and fits the vibe of the place perfectly. Drinks: -Organic Mango Passion Fruit Margarita: Bright, fruity, with a refreshing citrus flavor and a strong but smooth finish. -Dragones y Conejos: Unique, slightly spicy, and very well-balanced--definitely a drink with personality. Food: -Elotes de la Calle: Grilled corn with the perfect mix of spice and creamy topping; it was smoky and satisfying. -Flautas El Chente: Crispy, golden shells stuffed with juicy meat, served with flavorful dipping sauces. -Combo Fajitas: Served sizzling hot, seasoned perfectly, and generous enough to split definitely a highlight of the meal.

The ambiance of the place was beautiful with great Mexican decor and bright colors . The woman servers are very attentive and welcoming. I ordered tostadas and some sangria . I want to throw out I think the price for the amount of food you get it a little over the top. The meal was good and I understand things are expensive however I think it's too much for what you're presenting. $13 for a drink too is ridiculous to be honest . The deserts were better than the entree. Def recommend the fried cheesecake yum ! The churros were ok and the tres leche was good. This experience was just okay. I gave it more stars due to the great service .

3.5 stars. The food was good and the drinks were unique and displayed well. It was a nice to have a bar and restaurant in town as well. They don't take reservations so you may end up waiting a while if you have a party of 3 or more. The price was pretty high, I was expecting to have a better impression on the meal.

We had fun here! This is a place that dazzles a bit more than the competition. They have cocktails and menu items that come out in a haze of smoke. Frita Kahlo inspired Mexican art adorned the walls, which really adds to the ambiance. The waiter was very good. We all enjoyed our entrees. I'm not sure I'd call this food "authentic" but then again, cuisines adapt to where they are and what the locals like to eat. As a local, I enjoyed it and so did everyone else I dined with. My friend had the steak chimichurri salad, which came in a gigantic taco shell (haven't seen that in years), I had the tacos de carne enchilada, and chicken enchiladas. A fun place with food locals will like. Just don't expect true Mexican food. That's pretty hard to get around here!

We went for a date night. The decor is very bright and colorful. If you like tequila, they have it all! Best bet is get a flight so you can taste your hearts desire. The garnishes are fresh and when placed on some drinks, you get a cool flame effect. Service was very quick and catering. There is outdoor seating right on. The food was very tasty, it's neat if your plate is hot, it gets delivered on wood. Tons of vegetarian options. We can't wait to go again!

My nephew who lives nearby treated us to an al fresco meal recently while visiting for a family event. My pulled pork smashed burger was everything you want in a packed meat sandwich, with an onion ring and tangy sauce on the brioche bun. The sweet potato fries and a refreshing mocktail to drink made for a perfect meal. Sweetie ate a pasta bolognese (I think) which looked and ate good, and drowned it with a nice glass of red wine. It was packed on the Friday night we visited, with folks lined up for seating, or to hang at the bar and enjoy the bar scene. No reservations. Our late dinner worked fine as the mostly millennial and Gen-Z crowd started thinning shortly after we arrived. Millburn has always been a draw for neighboring townsfolk in search of a meal out. I remember this foodie town from 25 years ago, when its pizza, kosher and diner offerings were top notch. It seems to have upgraded its food scene several notches since my last visit so many years ago. Pure nostalgia for me which made for a very flavorful evening. TOP TIP: Street parking in this part of town is a hassle and the local cops keep a sharp eye for illegally parked cars and inebriated drivers. So park further away from the center of town where you are more likely to snag a legal spot on a busy night.

The food is so creative, fresh, and delicious, the service is attentive and knowledgeable and consistent (not the norm in the suburbs), and we love the ambiance. It was a gorgeous night to sit outside, but we opted for our favorite - bar seats to watch the action. It's hard to find this level of consistency and creativity even in NYC, but to have it right here in Maplewood is so wonderful. So many restaurants in the suburbs rely on frozen, pre-made items from large restaurant supply chains that finding innovative cooking completely from scratch is a real challenge. In a sea of mediocre restaurants, Perla lives up to its name: a true gem! We have been so impressed by the daily specials this summer. We started out with a scallop crudo with yuzu, jalapeno, and shallots that is my favorite crudo right now. We followed that with the new shrimp tostada and I'm only sorry we didn't order two. Later in our meal, I spied a couple at the other end of the bar who did it right: the wife took one bite and immediately ordered a second one so that she wouldn't have to share. This is the second time we've had the tomato salad with olives, shiso, and white balsamic and I can't get over the flavor combination - it's so unexpected and addictive. We can't pass up the broiled oysters with garlic butter, Calabrian chili, and crispy shallots - a dish I was obsessed with the moment I tried it at a pop-up event before the restaurant even existed. Then we had the broiled branzino with lemon, capers, and a watercress salad - again, the only mistake was not ordering two! We were actually down the shore yesterday, but came home because we were craving this dish. We finished off our meal with anchovy toast, which our favorite dessert paired with a crisp Txakolina. It's four pieces of toasted baguette with a generous spread of really good butter topped with one piece of salt-cured anchovy and one boqueron (a pickled anchovy). I can't recommend this dish highly enough, it is perfectly balanced! We love a BYOB, but it is such a luxury that we can order right from our phones at the restaurant from a local wine shop (Lum's Cellars). It's a curated list that has some really fantastic options that all go so well with the cuisine. We started with an Alberiño and then ordered the Txakolina. No notes! We can't wait for our next meal at Perla.

The menu changes daily so don't go back expecting to get the same thing you ordered the last time. To be quite honest of all the items I ordered two did not stand out although sounding promising The lobster roll, the bread was mediocre and the filling was scarce. The pizzette was also ehhh. Nothing impressionable. However the oysters, fully dressed and ready for consumption were pops of freshness and flavorful jellies exploding in your mouth. The corn was a nice touch. The mussels were in this sauce that was to die for. Full of garlic and creaminess paired with about 3 slices of sourdough bread perfect for soaking. The crostini appetizer, drooling thinking about it. Prosciutto with honey and mozzarella is the best combination.now for the chicken Milanese. Perfectly crisp with tomatoes I'm not sure what they put in the salad but delicious! Overall it's worth a happy hour with great deals. And even the dinner entrees are worth the visit. Our entire party wasn't there yet, but we were seated anyway, which I really appreciated. The staff checked in on us consistently without being overbearing, and while we waited for the rest of our party, we were asked if we wanted a drink. That small gesture stood out to me because a lot of restaurants will make you wait until everyone arrives before they even offer you anything. Here, they made us feel welcomed right away. Now, the food. We ordered the steak and eggs, island oxtail burrito, island burger with egg, and I decided to make my own combination. I ordered the Ou La wings and asked if I could get a side of diri jon jon (Haitian black mushroom rice). They were happy to accommodate the request, and everyone enjoyed their meals. One thing that really impressed me was how quickly an issue with the steak was handled. The steak had been ordered medium well, but came out well done. It was mentioned, and once it was brought to the chef's attention, the chef came back just a couple of minutes later with the steak prepared the way it was originally requested. A big deal wasn't made about it, so the fact that he took the initiative to correct it so quickly said a lot to me about how seriously they take their customers and food. And then there was the kremas! I noticed that they had a cocktail called Café Kremas, which is essentially an espresso version of a traditional kremas. It sounded interesting, but I really wanted to try the kremas by itself. I asked, and they were more than happy to accommodate me. Again, that willingness to listen and make the customer happy really stood out. The ambiance is beautiful. Everything feels thoughtfully designed, from the aesthetics to the layout. There's a separate bar area, and you can actually see the chefs working and preparing the food, which adds to the experience. Ou La is doing something special. The food was good, the atmosphere is beautiful, but what really stood out to me was the service. The staff was pleasant, attentive, professional, and clearly focused on making sure the customers were taken care of. If you're thinking about eating at this restaurant, I'm telling you to do it. Support this business and tip well. We need more restaurants that understand great food is only part of the experience. Customer service is important, and Ou La gets that. There is metered parking directly in front of the restaurant. If those spots are full, there's additional parking in the lot behind the restaurant near the church. I would also suggest making a reservation, especially if you're planning to go during a busy brunch or dinner service.

We had the short rib empanadas, which were crispy and fully of meat. They were definitely the highlight of the night! The rasta pasta was good, but it came out warm and with few shrimp. The flavors were still excellent, however. The carrot cake for dessert was moist and not too sweet, which I prefer! The space was also super clean and well maintained. What really disappointed me was the service. We had a reservation, but had to wait to be seated even with plenty of open tables. That's normally not a big deal for us, but we had an event to get to tonight, so we were in more of a rush. Someone came to us to ask what water we wanted after 10 minutes of being sat, after which the hostess came back over to us to apologize that our server hasn't come over yet and asked if we would like water. Much more time passes and someone (still not our server) comes to ask us if everything is alright. We explain that no one has taken our order, which she apologized for and took our order for us. She then had to come back over because she forgot to include what protein we picked for our pasta. Finally, our server came over to us. We explained that we had already ordered. More hiccups continued throughout the night, including a long wait for the check, never being brought a dessert menu after asking, etc. I'm not one to complain about service, I just think they could be more efficient. At the time we arrived, there were only a few other tables seated in our area. It wasn't super busy, and there were a lot of people working. We overheard staff whispering about who was supposed to be taking care of us, and it still took time for someone to come over and help us. I think the staff knew we overheard or were disappointed in the service, because our dessert was free, and we received a bread basket as well. I'd love to give them another chance, just maybe not if I have plans after.

I personally don't care for Ansac so I believe it totally changed the taste of the drink. The bartender could tell. I didn't like it and he asked me about four times " Are you sure I change it? I love this place. It feels like a secret place cause if you don't know it's there you might walk…read morepast it. The drinks are great and priced fairly. The bartender made a special drink for my friend since she was unsure of what she wanted so we told the bartender to make her something special. The ricotta and honey spread was fantastic I absolutely loved it. The staff was nice. The ambiance was beautiful and quiet but still lively with music in the background loud enough to hear but not overpowering. Very nice place. Almost want to gatekeep so it doesnt become too crowded but I really do think it's only fair to give them their flowers and a very nice review! 8/10 recommend.
