My wife and I visited on a Friday evening and we were happy to see the place was bustling. Luckily, we did not have to wait for a table. My wife ordered the senorita flaca burrito and I ordered the chicken fajitas. After you order, they will give you a complimentary basket of chips and salsa. Salsa was tasty and chips were fresh and crispy. My chicken fajita dish was very good. Cooked hot and fresh. The tortilla shells came out wrapped in foil and scalding hot. Very difficult to unwrap because of that. Shocking they would come out this way because it will burn your skin. No warning from the waitress. Not enough shells in the packet (3). My wife enjoyed her burrito. Plenty of veggies. Both portions were very generous. The service could have been better. The waitress never came back for the obligatory "how is everything." Came to La Colina Mexican Cantina on Halloween and had such a fun experience! The staff got into the spirit with the cutest little costumes, and we even got to vote for our favorites. My partner and I tried the margarita flight which did not disappoint. I've had this spot on my list for a while, and I finally checked it out with a friend on a Friday night. It was busy (always a good sign), but we got seated right away outside. Inside, the decor is super cool and stylish. Menus are on iPads with photos, which made ordering easy. Service was great from start to finish -- both the host and our waiter were friendly and attentive. We started with the Jalapeños del Norte, which are bacon-wrapped jalapeños stuffed with chicken chipotle and cheese. They were spicy. Like, nose-running spicy. But the bacon was perfectly crisp. For my main, I went with the Cheetos Burrito -- mostly out of curiosity. It was good, but I couldn't really taste the Cheetos, so I'd probably try something different next time. I want to throw out I think the price for the amount of food you get it a little over the top. I arrived around 10 PM on a Friday, and despite not having a reservation, there were open tables. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, which I appreciated. However, I really dislike the iPad menus. Flipping through them to find what I was looking for was frustrating, and I would much prefer traditional paper menus. On the plus side, the drinks were solid- both the margarita and mojito were well-made with no complaints there. Unfortunately, the food was a letdown. The Birria tacos, in particular, were among the worst I've had. There was something off-putting about the flavor that made them unenjoyable, and I wouldn't recommend them. Overall, it's a decent spot for drinks and service, but the food and menu system could use improvement. Also note that even with the restaurant half full- it was still really, really loud in here. We had fun here! This is a place that dazzles a bit more than the competition. They have cocktails and menu items that come out in a haze of smoke. Frita Kahlo inspired Mexican art adorned the walls, which really adds to the ambiance. The waiter was very good. We all enjoyed our entrees. I'm not sure I'd call this food "authentic" but then again, cuisines adapt to where they are and what the locals like to eat. As a local, I enjoyed it and so did everyone else I dined with. The space is really beautiful, elaborately decorated and very much on theme for an upscale Mexican restaurant. The cocktails were absolutely delicious and very appealing visually. Unfortunately the food was hit or miss. The Mexican paella was terrible, bland without any discernible flavoring. The beef enchilada was average, while the carne asada tacos were pretty good. The best thing was actually the mashed potatoes, they were spectacular. Mexican cheesecake was very decadent and a good finish for the meal. Service is mostly great as they are still working out the kinks. They gave us chicken enchiladas instead of beef. However, it is totally understandable for such a new place that was very crowded. I liked the food this time better than when they first opened I had the steak fajitas which were tasty. Appetizer I tried the chicken bacon jalapeños wow they were spicy ! Went to La Colina in Cranford on a Friday around 7. They don't take reservations and it was an hour wait, so we grabbed a drink across the street. The restaurant called us when our table was ready and we were sat right away. The menus are on tablets, and I like that all the food has pictures and you can favorite things you want to order and pull them up when ready to order. Service was slow, but I know they are just starting out. I got a margarita for my first drink, too sweet for me and not strong. I've been to the Warren location and the drinks were stronger there. Food was tasty but some of my food was cold. My favorite thing was the chipotle chicken jalapeño poppers. A tale of two visits, I first went to La Colima shortly after its opening. As a lover of authentic Mexican food, it tasted just like that. Was thirsty for a happy hour deal, in a day no other than a Tuesday; so I thought this would be the perfect day to try this place out! No fault in my logic right?! Well it turns out that this hidden little gem packs great flavor in their carne asada but they did not have any happy hour specials for tacos but they did have happy hr specials for other menu items. We ordered the tostadas two carne asada and one pull apart beef. My friend loved the beef I personally loved the Carne Asada flavor it was so zesty and flavorful almost like Al pastor but with beef chunks it was delicious and the meat was so tender. Then we had the chicken Flautas which were also delicious with a yummy sauce for dipping. We enjoyed their Mango and Passion fruit Mojitos which we're both yummy and had a good kick! Every item was half-off so basically we had a little bit of everything and saved a few bucks! Even had left over Guac to take home. This place gets 10/10 in food and service although we were 2 out of the 4 people in there when we arrived. The Ambiance's and decor is very inviting, small but festive but there is plenty of seating, so all in all a great little spot. My one critique would be: include taco deals at least on Tuesdays which is why people like myself like to go out and hunt for a good deal on a Tuesday. Great job! read more

We came here on a quiet Sunday but I can see how the vibe can be fun on a night. It's got the typical skeleton decor of a Mexican restaurant. The only wierd part is the triple doors to get to the bathroom. The service was really nice but a little slow. But they do keep the chips and salsa coming. I got the mango micheladas. It's a nice sweet and spiced mix. The mango pump unfortunately settles to the bottom so a straw or something to mix it would be nice. Its usually made spicier so id recommend that. The meal choice was pollo rancheros. It was a HUGE portion. It has a side salad which lacked dressing. I personally would add a chipotle dressing. It also comes with a piece of fresh corn which needs butter or just make it an elote. You get a red sauce chicken enchilada. It was good but again lacks spice. The large chicken breast was cooked well and they do offer a side green salsa. They pair very nicely but each eaten solo gets pretty bland. They also offer 2 sides. I got the black beans and maduros. The black beans are served in a nice saucy mix and the plantains are nice and sweet. We also got the Enchiladas Hornatas. This is a dish with 3 enchiladas in a Verde sauce. The vegetarian ones are filled with carrots and zucchini which was an interesting mix. But their was mixed reviews on this. The chicken one was good. The side of Mexican rice was average and could have used a little more flavor. To finish off this grand meal was deep fried cheesecake which is served with ice cream. It was creamy and sweet.
