La Colombe is a well established upscale coffee shop chain with many locations. This is my first time visiting their Elysian Valley (Frogtown) location. This shop is especially effective, offering good quality and great service that seamlessly integrates into the local community and vibe. I came in a Sunday morning after my child had her class at the nearby Klub Gymnastics center. We entered via the surprisingly scenic riverwalk amongst active hikers and bikers, past the nearby bike rental shop, and got in line. The place was packed and filled with like-minded family and others enjoying the morning. With essentially identical products, I evaluate chains like Colombe and Starbucks by how well they integrate with a local community and how busy it is. More people coming and going, more lingering, and more laughter and conversation overheard is what I like to see. This Colombe location fit the bill perfectly, filled to the brim with people were taking in the most of a humid day Frogtown. My large iced tea Chai Tea latte was delicious, as expected, and although a little bit pricey ($7 with tax), it came with great service, a friendly smile, and staff who offered to help my daughter fill her a little cup with water. A friend got the marshmallow s'mores croissant (see pictures) and reported it tasted as delectable as it looked. Truly, this Colombe location embodies the best of what a coffee shop can be, and is absolutely worth a visit during a walk along the LA river or a lazy morning in Frogtown. Such a nice location for a coffee shop. Equipped with bike racks for those of us who stopped here along our LA River bike ride. While you can't see the river from the shop. You can always take your items and sit by the river. We sat at the outdoor seating at the shop and there was beautiful bougainvillea as well as singing birds. The birds are definitely brave because they tried to swoop down to eat our food. The service is quick and to the point. We got iced London fogs and a few sandwiches. The London fogs were very light in flavor. The sandwiches were ready made for us to grab from the refrigerator. My friends enjoyed their turkey and Italian sandwiches which they said were filling. The veggie sandwich had a piece of lettuce, few pieces of artichoke, pickled peppers, and few strips of onion. I really wanted to like this place, but my experience was disappointing. The coffee wasn't mixed at all, so all of the syrup and sweetener settled at the bottom of the cup. The coffee tasted bland and like pure cold brew, and I had to mix it myself The customer service also left a lot to be desired. The employee who helped me barely spoke, seemed distant, and came across as dismissive. A simple greeting or a more welcoming attitude would have made a big difference. La Colombe is a name I've heard often because of coffee beans, and I'm so excited to finally give this place a visit. Parking here was probably the most inconvenient part of the visit. The small parking lot is for staff only, and you really need to hope that a street parking spot opens up. Ordering was fairly quick, and the queue is intuitive - in one end and out the other. I had their iced latte, and this was bold and tasty, a nice afternoon pick-me-up. Wi-Fi is available for working, and there are seating options both indoors and outdoors. They're located by the LA River, which provides a nice view. It's not the biggest city escape, but the views that can be seen here are a nice exit from the otherwise busy streets of LA. We live by the LA River and this is always our walk end point. Our go-to drinks are the chocolate and white chocolate draft--so creamy and sooo good. We usually come early on weekend mornings, which is honestly the best time. You get to enjoy the calm vibe before it gets packed with cyclists, runners, and walkers. Only wish they warmed up their pastries, but overall the coffee is consistently good and the staff is always nice. Definitely one of our regular spots. read more

Bike friendly stop along the LA River Path with a selection of high end coffees and pastries. Though a chain, this location offers plenty of seating in a lovely garden just steps away from the river. I personally am not a coffee drinker, but I loved their pastries and ice tea selection on a warmer LA day. I really enjoyed the maple scone and would highly recommend giving this a try! As mentioned in a few of my other reviews, my friends and I did a coffee crawl of sorts, cycling along the LA River Path and stopped at many of the coffee shops. La Colombe was actually the first stop of the day and a perfect one to kick things off. Of courseee I ordered a hot matcha and while it wasn't my favorite of our five stops of the day, it was still a nice mellow start. The air conditioning was very welcome before we hit the hotter stretches of the day and the ride. La Colombe was spacious, clean, and very "La Colombe" in aesthetic - modern and yet a little minimal. Solid matcha, solid experience, solid services and prices, and a great place to start a caffeine-fueled bike tour. Give it a try! read more

One of my favorite places to come to after a nice, refreshing morning run. Its definitely convenient having a coffee shop, let alone a coffee roaster on a walking trail. The outside has a couple of chairs, benches and tables while the inside has the counter as well as additional seating. I love the cold brew here, especially the cold brew latte that comes out of their taps. The baristas are also friendly, even on a Saturday morning with the line out the door. Pretty empty with lots of street parking at 645AM on a Saturday. We got a vanilla latte and an americano. Both are pretty solid. Service was quick and efficient! Out of two La Colombe locations that I frequent, this one is my favorite location. Because it's near the Los Angeles river, you get to enjoy beautiful scenery with your beverage. I've also found the service to be consistently friendly. They do offer food for sale including pastries, but be warned: if you leave your food unattended outdoors, you may attract some hungry birds! They offer your standard coffee-based beverages, and you can also buy bags of whole beans to brew at home. Depending on when you visit, street parking may be limited, but there's a great pedestrian/biking path by the river if that's more your speed. read more

However, ever since they change their packaging, I feel like they've changed the formula/recipe. It's a bigger can, but it doesn't taste the same nor as good as it used to. So happy to find a brick n mortar store. Freshly made coffee is good. BF's Iced Vanilla Latte was really good. We're both satisfied with it. Honestly such an odd place... saw the pictures on yelp and everything looked so good! I was craving a nice croissant and saw they had some. Called ahead to check stock...no answer. Called again....no answer. I drove over and they still had a few pastries in the box. When I walked up to the counter the girl just stood there scrolling on her phone. After a little while of looking at the pastries standing there not even getting a hello or welcome or even a glance I asked her what a specific pastry was. She looks up still holding her phone and goes "mmmmmm. Which one?" Just completely uninterested. I point at it again and she tells me it's a ham and cheese. I then say "sorry I can't tell what any of these are because there's no labels" and she proceeds to look back at her phone just standing there blankly. It was hands down the most awkward interaction I have ever had at a cafe. I ordered a plain croissant and a blueberry muffing Togo. I then ask if they have any matcha lattes (because I didn't see it on the menu) and she blankly says no looking like this emoji . So I just pay and get out. $10 for two pastries. Blueberry muffin was amazing but the croissant was not the best, it was pretty hard and had no honeycombing. I was actually surprised by how close it was to the LA River, which was absolutely beautiful and relaxing during my visit in December. This is our cozy corner coffee shop by the river. They are know for their draft lattes, recently tried their seasonal-Smores latte and it did not disappoint, it's just on the sweeter side just preference I guess. The staff is great , I have come a long way from when they opened to now-and I have nothing but good things to say about their team now. The coffee isn't a 10/10 but it's the service the good morning, the helpfulness and convenience that makes it my daily. I haven't tried a pastry that is not good, can't go wrong with any. Stopped by La Colombe's coffee shop since we were in the area and wanted to get some planning done with my friend for our upcoming trip. Parking was near impossible close to a residential neighborhood, and streets were very narrow. After we finally got parking, found the coffee shop. It's well located right next to a bike trail, convenience for those stopping by on their bike route to get a cup of joe. There's ample of outdoor space for sitting as well as some indoor space. You order at the counter your drinks, and there's also a nice display case for pastries. My complaint about this place is that it does not have wifi nor any charging port for those that are looking for a more traditional coffee shop. read more
