Is this possibly the bougiest coffee shop in L.A. (bougie defined as pretentious)? Yah, it's definitely in the running. The patrons include bicyclists whose bikes cost more than my car, folks driving Porsches (the bougiest car of all imho), lots of performative tattoos, and more athleisurewear than I've seen in my life. And this is in Cypress Park, which to me is most famous as the location of my favorite King Taco (not bougie at all). So, is gentrification happening here? That's a big yes. When the word "elevated" gets used to describe menu items, that's a dead giveaway. And yet....that Mascarpone latte is a work of art. Per their website, it's a "Tiramisu inspired drink layered with espresso, mascarpone cheese foam, and muscovado milk." It's just as good as it sounds. And honestly, these days, $8 was a bargain. Shocking how many young people were up and ordering their custom drinks at 7:30 am on a Sunday morning. I'm guessing the line gets really long on weekends. So order early! Was able to revisit LOQUAT COFFEE a few times since my last review. A couple of times with coworkers and another couple of times with fam. In each and every visit, I know I am boring, I ordered the same thing - CORTADO. The benefit of being boring and visiting several times is that I can definitively say that they churn out consistently GREAT cortados. I was able to finagle some of the following as well: - HOT LATTE. Not "watery", or should I say "milky". Strong and creamy. - FONDRY KOUIGN AMMAN. Sooo good. Of course. And without the Fondry line. A late review to the trend, but this coffee shop is literally one of the few must recommended specialty shop around the greater LA region. Highly sophisticated and quality driven, Loquat offers exceptional coffee in every cup. The interior is minimal and clean, though seating space is very limited, as the space is quite small. There is a small counter that seats 4 people and a bench seat along the window that fits maybe 3 more? There are outdoor patio seats that can fit up to 3-4 small groups. The guest capacity can quickly get full. Plus, the shop is usually very busy in the AM. You can expect it to be emptier in the noon though. What I love about this shop can be a bit of bias. I enjoy light roast, single origin coffee, and this place is a perfect spot for it. Loquat usually has at least one or two rare coffee offering like Gesha and processing such as anaerobic fermentation. I always like the presentation of the drinks that are being served, and Loquat has one of the exceptional ones for their espresso. It comes in a mini chilled glass and a 'bougie' tiny spoon. Their signature beverage is the Mascarpone Latte, which is a shot of espresso with muscovado milk, topped with a thick, cloud of house made mascarpone cheese foam. Delicious! As for the parking, it is all street and neighborhood parking. The shop is situated on the corner of the Main Street and a neighborhood road. Usually, you would probably have to expect a bit of distance when looking for parking. It gets little challenging. But the place around it isn't nearly as crowded. Needed some caffeine after a long drive and wanted to check them out. Parking can be a bit of a struggle but be patient. Looking over the menu everything looks of high quality and carefully curated drinks. Each one made to serve a purpose. I've had an espresso tonic before and I like the idea of it. I saw one on the menu and decided to go with it. It's a more refreshing and lighter way to enjoy espresso. Caribbean Tonic ($7.50): espresso tonic with pineapple juice, coconut cream, and tonic syrup. We ordered the iced Lumiere $8.50 which is Mango Puree, organic pineapple juice, Mascarpone foam, cold milk. Odd taste. You need to like the idea of having a fruit juice mix with your coffee. Iced Mascarpone Expresso with oatmilk $8.75. The drinks are just OK imo. I've had better Mascarpone drinks in the OC. They have limited pasties from Fondry and Baker's kneeded. LOQUAT COFFEE (est 2024) is a corner specialty coffee shop in Cypress Park neighborhood of LA. It's a private label of Kumquat Coffee. LC's drink menu has an even distribution of espresso, pour-overs, cold brew, teas and signature drinks. Its interior is beautifully designed with an eye catching yellow & black color background scheme throughout the coffee shop. Furthermore, their seats were mixture of modern and classic design. Similarly, its high ceiling gives it more visual depth with natural light through their large windows. And the shop has that industrial exterior look with barely readable name. Anyways, Loquat's atmosphere was very relaxing. Staff were eloquent and competent. Prices were slightly higher than other coffee shops. Service was spot on. Coffee quality was great. Music background was soothing. As for drinks, I had a Brazilian Cold Brew. And it was bloody awesome! It's very refreshing really especially on a hot sunny day. Free wifi. Ample of street parking. Customer service was genuine from the Asian cashier to the girl baristas. There was no entitlement barista vibes here as you feel in LA coffee shops, which was such a comfort. My cousin recommended this coffee place for me to try in Highland Park so I thought I'd go see for myself. The coffee shop color is very modern and pleasing to the eye. Parking on street only. I came for the Mascarpone Iced Latte since my cousin told me that is a must try. I ordered it with oat milk. The drink is very instagrammable. I was instructed to mix it up before drinking. I did and took the first sip. Okay, it's not sweet at all but a bit bitter from the cocoa powder, I mixed it some more, and although it wasn't as bitter upon start, it didn't get much sweeter for me. Keep in mind I love my coffee sweet and creamy and unfortunately this wasn't it. There was also a lot of (what I presume to be) coffee bean nibs in every sip I took. I did not like that at all and there was a lot of them, 2/5 for me. The Croissant Presse that I ordered looked really good as it was flat and had a caramel glaze on top. We tried the marble matcha with mascarpone cold foam and scattered crunchy pistachios on top - Wowowow this drink is unbelievable I could have finished it in seconds, then the classic Mascarpone which tastes just like tiramisu - also incredible - the two pair great together for alternate sips. Tried the banana bread mini loaf which was very dry, but it was late afternoon and had maybe gone past its best, also got an iced americano which was decent. Intimate coffee shop located on the corner of the block. There's not a whole lot of seats, but they have about 4 barstools by the counter. Spacious waiting area though! The theme here is quite cute! A little small cute local coffee shop in the Cypress neighborhood. I would have loved to have this around when I used to lived in the area. Street parking is available. There was no line and it was super busy but seats were all taken. I can only imagine how busy it is on the weekends. I wanted to try the Horizon signature but they no longer have that on the menu - super sadness since I am a hojicha/black sesame girly. Drinks here are done at its finest and I would give more then 5 stars if I can. This is the second time I'm here and both times I feel so welcomed. The staffs here actually cared about me and my order by give me recommendations based on what I liked, explain to me the drinks and its notes and also about their brand journey. Absolutely attentive. First time I came was back in October (not pictured) and they don't have The Marble, which was the drink I wanted to try, but recommended me the Hojicha latte instead. I wasn't really into hojicha but I was so glad I got it because it was such an experience! The creaminess of the mascarpone cream melt into the nuttiness and toasted hojicha is just everything I was looking for to brighten my day. The Marble came back this month until August so I couldn't miss it this time! Again, never disappointed because look at how pretty this drink is! Nothing artificial which I love (because I've tried pistachio drinks a lot and artificial pistachio syrup is the worst thing you can taste), only fresh crumble pistachio on too of mascarpone cream and ceremonial matcha latte. I asked for light ice and they delivered, keeping the drink as cool and frothy as it should be. Drinks are $7.50-$8. No cash. First off, it's located on a corner with a lot of street parking available. It seems like they are always busy because we got there at 9am on a Sunday and there was already a line out the door. Service is fast though and we didn't have to wait that long. They have coffee, lates, drip, pour overs but you have to try their creations. Apparently they have seasonal offerings and they rotate through the special creations. The mascarpone is a must and it is so good!! It's like a tiramisu in a cup. However, portions are small, so if you're expecting Starbucks sizes, don't bother. The taste of the coffee is amazing, wanting you to try more. I'm a huge fan of Kumquat coffee and was intrigued by their private label - Loquat. It's a super cute bright yellow cafe located on a neighborhood corner. Street parking / no inside seating. I ordered the "Geisha Old Fashioned" which is inspired by an old fashioned (never had) but I enjoy cherry and citrus which was pleasantly present in the cold brew. It was also the most expensive coffee on their menu ($11!) but I had to try it. Probably one of the smoothest and richest cold brews I've tasted. Tried the signature mascarpone latte and grabbed a bag of beans. We also got the rye cookie and ham cheese croissant (Saturday means not-Fondry pastries). The latte was well executed, very creamy, rich, strong but a bit too sweet for my preference (that sweetness overshadowing the bitterness of an espresso). The rye cookie is excellent -- imagine your favorite chewy chocolate chip cookie with more depth to the dough. The croissant was pretty standard. I got the "Taxi" beans. Beans are expensive at $23 for 10oz of a blend. Check the bottom of the bag for the roast date and they recommend letting them de-gas for ~10 days after roasting. No indication of roast level but you do get tasting notes. I had to ask the same staff to check in the back for fresher beans since the ones at the counter were ~3 weeks past roast date. Seating is limited (one bench inside, 4 bar seats occupied by laptop people, & a few tables outside) and definitely more grab and go. There wasn't much of a line before 10am on a Saturday but picked up (and out the door) just before noon. Will return for their pourovers! read more

I smoked 5 cigarettes outside loquat and it was a nice corner to smoke at. Almost made me feel like drug lord. I then got espresso inside and it worked.
