My husband and I stopped in Ensenada on a cruise. We wanted to try a new restaurant, and I found this place on yelp. I wasn't sure we were at the right place because there's no sign outside. However, as soon as we walked inside, I recognized the place from photos I had seen on yelp. My husband ordered a chicken mole taco, and I ordered a chile relleno taco. Both were EXCELLENT! The chile relleno was huge! I asked if I could buy another tortilla, and they gave me one at no charge. They only make corn tortillas. They are homemade, thick, and delicious. Our bill came to $6.55! Unbelievable! I didn't notice the salsa bar in the back until I was down to my last bite. I added some of the green salsa, and it was so good. I was sorry I didn't discover the salsa earlier. We will definitely go back the next time we are in Ensenada!

Just a few shops down from Papas and Beer. Go there for the drinks and fun times but definitely come here for the tacos! The mole tacos are my go to; smoky, savory and slightly sweet from the chocolate and spices. The carne asada has no char but the meat is flavorful and delicious. The birria is not greasy and does not come with consume; not my fave but the hubs liked it. The simple cheese quesadilla had a comical cheese pull from my youngest and he loved it with the thick corn tortillas. Rice and beans were good and the staff is always nice. Y seemed low in some of the protein options; last time we were here there were a few stewed meats too. Just a note: No one speaks English so it might be daunting if you don't speak Spanish. Mole tacos. "MOE-lei" say it with me...you gotta try it!!

So delicious, we wanted authentic tacos when we docked from our cruise and that's exactly what we got! 10/10 tacos, the price was a little bit high but I think the tacos are worth it.

I came here early to try and get my group here but a guy that worked there (possibly) brought a group and took my tables even though I told him I had a group coming. They had my stuff on it smh. Did not care for that. My group came and he started moving tables for them. told him i have my things on it and my group is walking over now. He ignored me, moved my things and began moving my items. VERY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE. Tacos were good, homemade tortillas, large amount of meat, but very off putting on how that man acted. Will not be back. Dropped y rating for sure

A huge shoutout to Julie L. for recommending me. It was a very short walk (less than block) from where we were. I danced a bit so technically I burned some calories to enjoy another mini feast before heading back to the ship. It's cash only and I didn't know how much my 2 items costs, but I handed them a $20 and thanked them. I ordered a birria taco and a chile relleno taco. Both tacos were loaded and had a layer of refried beans and a thin later of rice at the bottom. I did not get to go to their salsa bar to see what they have to offer because I was hungry and anxious to get back on the ship. I did not understand staff (I'm very sorry), but the items I ordered was delicious. I appreciated how the chile relleno wasn't oily. Though it wasn't cooked fresh, but how they prepared it and kept it warm/fresh in the tray must be some sort of secret because you cannot keep fried anything fresh w/o it being a bite of sad grease. The birria was tender.. appreciated the Mexican oregano aroma and taste it had. Like I mentioned, I did not get to to their salsa bar. I wanted onions and cilantro on the birria taco, but it was delicious the way it was served. A small place. they do have tables, but I was lucky to snag one. Thank you for the memorable experience!

    Shrimp and Fish tacos

All their tacos were delicious but the Shrimp and Fish tacos and Shrimp burritos were Exceptional.... So good! The place isn't much to look at but the food is great, appears to be several restaurants working together

This place is a hidden gem! They are down the street from papas and beer and are often over looked. We have eaten here for more than 15 years. The food is always amazing and the people are always nice. Whether we are on a cruise or down here for a weekend getaway we have lunch here because the food is delicious.

When the street vendors recommend the same taco place. When the guy trying to get people to come to the papas and beer restaurant recommends this place. When the local police comes here for lunch. Not to mention all the locals coming here to eat. You know the food is good. And they did not disappoint!!! I ordered 2 tacos. A mole taco and a lengua taco. Tacos, like everywhere else in Mexico is handmade. You see the lady in the back individually making each taco. The mole was amazing. You taste the chocolate, you taste the different depths of flavor. The sauce was thick, not runny or thin. The protein was tender and soft. It was just amazing. The lengua was also amazing. Tender. Great flavor. Large chunks of meat but it didn'tatter cuz it was so tender!! The tacos weren't the small street tacos you find in downtown LA as well. They were easily 9 inch in diameter, and packed full of protein!! It's so simple, yet it was the best tacos I've ever had!! I don't know what made it taste so food. Maybe the hand made taco shell, better ingredients for the proteins. No idea. This place is what I call authentic!!! They have other things on the menu as well. But I would highly recommend trying their tacos when you're in the area!! Also you can't beat the price. 4 tacos and 2 drinks came out to less than $10.

Come and eat here if you are in Ensenada. It's a must. I made a mortal mistake that I still regret, when I was asked if I wanted rice and beans, I somehow said no. What an idiot. I thought we would be eating more tacos... Order the birria and guisado. The meat is sooo juicy. The tortillas are so soft and fresh tasting. I love how your served on beautiful clay plates. The salsas were delicious. I 100% recommend eating here. One thing I had to mention is the spot next door- la Jaiba fish tacos, is not on Yelp but on google. These two restaurants have a connecting door. This is for La Jaib: Order the fish tacos and the tostada, they are amazing and super fresh. The chef was cooking with her young son, who mind you could open and dice and avocado better than most adults. My girlfriend watched him make the salsa while the chef was cooking. Everything was made to order, and you paid after you eat. The service was great. We were bringing tacos to family over at the bar, and she made those after we ate ours on spot. How kind.

Tostada de Pata / cueritos, my fav!

Used Yelp again and found this hidden gem. Little place with big flavor and great staff. If you like Guisados, this is the place for you! The pics will speak for its self. Yummy grub!!

We got beef asada and fried fish pescado. I believe it was only $2.50 per taco so not the cheapest but definitely by far the most affordable and yummy in the touristy area. It's a perfect walkable distance from the cruise port. You can pay USD cash and it shows on their payment terminal the conversion. I don't know how to double check if the conversion was 100% accurate but just from a little google go the current conversion and counting out how many tacos we ordered, everything seemed to check out!! They have tables for you to sit at inside but open facing so you're covered from the sun/rain. It comes with 3 different salsas, bowl of limes, and my favorite part is the grilled jalapeño and green onions - omg so good! I'll definitely be coming back if I'm in town. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the Asada just needed more flavor and not as cooked. I prefer a juicy medium Asada but I know that that's not how it's always eaten, just wish there was more flavor. Coming from Arizona I fortunately get to eat a lot of amazing Mexican food!

But figured I needed a better way to eat it while visiting Ensenada again with my wife. So this time, went to the nearby sister restaurant, Sabina. It's named for the owner of the original food stand, and there are a lot of pictures of her with other celebrities who appreciated her talent in creating seafood combinations. The Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant is within walking distance from the cruise port, and is located in an area with a lot of other restaurants and shops. We came there soon after it opened around 10 am, and had the choice of indoor or outdoor seating. We showed that we were coming from California, by choosing indoor seating. We were given colorful menus and suggestions. We also got complementary chips and salsa, with 4 different varieties of her famous salsas being served. I tried all four of them, and two of them were way too hot, even in moderation. I did really like the green salsa, which tasted more like a simple guacamole. It also came with thinly slices of lime...each small slice producing so much more juice than any lime we get in California. My wife doesn't like raw seafood, so chose garlic shrimp (Caramones al Mojo de Ajo for Mex$405). There were plenty of jumbo headless, shell-on white shrimp, with the butter sauce being very light and not too garlicky. It came with a very good rice pilaf and sauteed vegetables (mostly squash which neither of us are a fan of). I went with 3 choices from the 5 selection 'Champion' list: 1. Erizo con Almeja (Sea Urchin with Clam for Mex$230) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2011 for Best Original Showmanship 2. Caracol con Lajas de Caracol (Mixed Ceviche with Sea Snail for Mex$209) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2012 for Best in Show 3. Singapur (Mex$209) - winner of LA Street Food Fest 2013 for unknown category). All three were piled high with fresh seafood, embellished with perfectly ripe avocado slices. None of them needed additional salsa, but adding a squeeze of lime enhanced. My favorite was the Singapore and would try the other two tostadas on the winners list the next time. The best way would be to order all the tostadas and split amongst a group of 4 or 5 friends (there are 6 other special tostadas and you can also create your own with the fresh seafood ingredients). Got two bottles of water (Mex$75 each...not cheap) and a local beer (Vera Niega Mexican Ale, a bottle being Mex$110) that was excellent. Service was attentive and friendly throughout, with multiple servers (Horacio and Antonio) attending to us, all trying to make sure we had a good time. Credit cards are accepted, using a modern tableside POS, and I was happy to pay a gratuity over what is customary. Bathrooms are modern, with individual stalls (most of them gender neutral) all sharing a nice common set of sinks. My wife and I left in fine spirits and it was beginning to fill up more as we left (all dining al fresco, of course). Dining at the nearby original food cart is worth the initial experience, but there is something to having food this good in a sit-down restaurant. Sabina is that place.

This is a spot that you can sit down and drink a beer and get the same amazing seafood. My favorites were the sea urchin tostada as well as the bluefin tostada with fried leaks on top of it. A bonus is that they give you salsa and chips with four different types of salsas. We also grabbed a couple of beers in margaritas which were amazing as well. This is a great spot for a well-known sit down restaurant for seafood tostadas.
