My quick go to lunch - Chicken Tostada with ranch on the side. They have the best ice in town too! Service was good and my food came out quick. If you dine in, you get chips and salsa

So like people say it's not necessarily authentic and maybe it depends on what you order. I've heard the chili verde is amazing (haven't tried it!) My go to since I was in high school is a beef burrito small salad and a side of sour cream! Always the same flavors and cheaper than most food joints! The chips and salsa have always been amazing and the oil and vinegar dressing on the salad is bomb! Always loved putting a little of everything on a chip and enjoying the flavors! Simple yet yummy! It's worth a try and you might just say you will come back! I know I've been coming back for 30+ years! Also love that it's family owned - I know it sold a while back but looks like they have kept the same food and vibe which to me is important!

okay, if you want authentic Mexican street food? this ain't the place. you will not find Spanish-speaking Mexican immigrants dining here. you will find a lot of local plus-sized white folks enjoying the grub though... because you get A LOT of food for a reasonable price. as a kid who grew up in Chico in the 80s, La Comida was and is an iconic staple of affordable food that tastes great... from their "Super Burrito" to their signature chips 'n' salsa, La Comida is comfort! a caucasian version of Mexican food meets Fast Food in a sit down environment. Dear La Comida: Chico loves you exactly the way that you are -- stay the same, fail to change XOXO

I hadn't been to La Comida since ohhhhh... 1991ish and kinda forgot what it was all about (besides Mexican food, duh). I was surprised they made it through Covid and are still open so I had to try them again. I went in on taco Tuesday and was pleasantly surprised with my taco, my enchilada, and the rice and beans. It's definitely not the best Mexican food I've ever had but it's not totally terrible either. It's somewhere in that mediocre range, but the price is right so "mediocre" is ok by me. I also really love that you can refill your drink, and chips/salsa as many times as you want (because no restaurants actually offer this awesome service anymore!) At 98.9% of restaurants located anywhere you have to pay for every little thing but La Comida keeps it 100 by not changing the never-ending sodas and chips/salsa. LOVE THAT! I'd have to say that taco Tuesday is probably the best day to go but beware, you are going to have to wait in line and you might have to wait a while for your food. Other than that, I had a pretty good experience and... If you know me, I'm a stickler for parking which happens to be super easy since their parking lot is ginormous. Solid three stars for me if you haven't been there in a while go check it out.

    Fiesta Salad

ordered a fiesta salad, no meat jut rice and beans with ranch on the side and no tomatoes. It says that on my receipt too. I received no rice just beans no ranch and tomatoes all on top. disappointed to say the least

Not really Mexican food. It's more expensive than other real Mexican restaurants and not very tasty. Go elsewhere

It's really good and also very cheap. It's definitely not authentic Mexican food very white washed but still good.

It was a sendoff worthy of mariachi music and a frozen margarita toast. Let's start with the food: fire-grilled shrimp sizzling over peppers and onions, the kind of skillet that turns heads when it hits the table. The birria tacos were rich, cheesy, and golden-seared to perfection, with a deeply savory consommé for dipping every bite a messy, magnificent win. The combo plates brought it all together: classic rice and beans, fresh pico, guac, sour cream, and cheese so generous it should've paid rent. The place is full of charm, too. Walking through the doors is like stepping into a vibrant fiesta bright papel picado overhead, carved wooden benches, tiled floors that feel like abuela's house, and cheerful service that made us feel like family. I especially loved the colorful little photo-op corner by the entrance perfect for capturing the last California memory before heading east. It's not fancy. It's real. The kind of restaurant where flavors speak louder than trends, and you leave with a full belly and a bigger smile. Whether you're rolling through Chico or you're lucky enough to call it home, La Fiesta deserves a spot on your regular rotation. And if you're heading out of town like I was, this is the kind of farewell feast that sticks with you right next to the taste of lime and roasted onion. #LaFiestaChico #BirriaTacos #SizzlingShrimp #ChicoEats #ItsTheLittleThings #ThePuddingCreekTrestle #FoodieFuel #GuacAndRoll #TacoJoy #FlavorTrip
