Was in the area and La Carona was recommended by a friend. Great recommendation. as my friend said it's a bright green building on Walnut you can't miss it. Per directions on Yelp, I called in my order and waited for it to be ready. I was greeted once entering the restaurant which was takeout only. I was given plenty of napkins since I was going to be eating in my car. I ordered the chile relleno and pork tamale combo. The chile relleno was so tasty I couldn't stop eating it until it was all gone. The pork tamale had good flavor and the Masa was firm but moist. He came along with rice and beans and some red salsa. We were passing through Red Bluff and Randomly stopped in here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Lots of locals in here for lunch. It was really busy. Got hot fresh chips and good salsa right as we sat down. Nice thin and crispy chips. They were excellent! Didn't even need salt. We all got something different and everyone enjoyed their meals. I had 2 tamales which were good. I tried my husbands garlic shrimp, man your better love garlic because there was a lot and it was strong, but really good. So disappointed with the service at La Corona Mexican Restaurant . My food came right when the kids were finished. I actually had to ask for it. Then, the excuse was wer'e busy. I'm like, I understand that we waited awhile for the food. Being busy should not of affected my food coming out with theirs. After her excuse making she was ringing up my food, I told her she lost a customer. I could see in her body language how irritated she was. She said nevermind, you can just have it. My husband and I always go to another Mexican restaurant when we go to Red Bluff. On this occasion, my husband decided to try La Corona -just for fun. Although it was okay, we will definitely be returning to our favorite Mexican restaurant in future. Why?Because: the food is way better at the other establishment, the servings are larger, the prices lower, and their service is better. The chips at La Corona were great. The salsa tasted like it came out of a jar. I can buy jar salsa at the grocery store if I want it. My refried beans also tasted food service processed-not house made. Rice was flavorful, but not cooked 100%. My taco and enchilada were okay, but not great. My husband didn't really care for his meal, either. He said it wasn't bad, it just wasn't good. Our server was otherwise occupied with visiting other staff in the room and not even attending other customers. When we left the restaurant, we had few "leftovers " and had paid considerably more than we would have at our favorite place in town where the food is great. read more

I just took our Chamber of Commerce CEO to La Corona for the first time. He said "This is just like the food my hispanic friends would cook in their own home." OK, I will go on for days. as simple as this sounds, their chips & salsa are to die for. warm crisp chips and tasty salsa that's making my mouth water even though I am still stuffed from lunch. My favorite is the Nachos Panchos. These nachos will feed to people easily. even two starving teenagers. Any Shrimp (Mariscos) dish you have is going to make you happy. even their tortillas just rock of goodness! I prefer the corn tortillas but still, all of them are to die for. Their service is QUICK, the food is really cheap, and the people are friendly! This is the restaurant I prefer to take friends to who are visiting from out of town. We had the carne asada tostada supreme and it was delicious. Really tasty and filling. Their chips are good and fresh, but need salt. My Mom loved their salsa but I think it's a little bland. Tried this place out today since our power was out and we were not impressed. When our meals came out our food was cold my wife sent hers back so they heated it up even heated up the sour cream. This is our go to place, our first thought when saying, "let's eat out tonight." Everything is wonderful, so you can't go wrong. I usually get the shredded chicken taco and a cheese enchilada. My husband gets the fish tacos. Our favorites are so good we usually don't venture away much but the tostadas are delish, and the burritos are big and really the best. You get lots of fresh warm chips and salsa. It is a comfy atmosphere and definitely casual dress, although I have seen some Winter formal attendees in their suits, and formal dresses and not one feels out of place. We've been coming here for years. Food is alway good. However, tonight and our last visit was very disappointing. NO ice in this hot weather. You'd think they would run out and get some for their patrons. Waited 5 min to be seated. Then no drinks, chips, or utensils for 10 more min. Now sitting waiting over 30 min for our food. Never had a bad experience here! Waiting staff is so friendly, we love the family atmosphere. Have taken many guests and family visiting in town. Most recently I ordered the Chile Colorado plate and it was soooo good! Highly recommend everything here. I don't like fish but my wife says their fish tacos are delicious!
