    Half order of nachos grande

I love coming here for their happy hour. The bar tender is the best in town. I get the half order of nachos grande. And a great Mexican beer on tap.

First time here, and I was very impressed by the friendliness of staff and the cute decor. The food was delicious and really loved their salsa. It had great flavor, and some heat. I will be coming back. This is a must come place for Mexican food. You won't be disappointed

Just came in for some chips and dip and beer with some friends, however the entree's passing by our table looked gooooooood. I did enjoy the chips and salsa. The chips were a mix of both flour and corn tortilla. The queso was just ok, the slice jalapeños in it were a nice touch though.

Some of the best service I've experienced at a restaurant! Coming in - you immediately felt like family! The food we ordered felt very authentic - and there were more items on the menu I wanted to try which is always a good sign.

A Saint Paul gem located just off of Grand Avenue. Even though I am always in the area, I often forget about La Cucaracha because it's tucked off the main drag by just a pinch. For those of you reading this review - here's your sign to visit. Really good food, lots of seating, fast service and good drink options as well. We had a party of 3 on a Saturday and got seated in a back booth. We ordered the chips, salsa and queso as our appetizer and also had a fruit mojito (yum) along with a pina colada (also yum) for our cocktails. I enjoyed my chicken flautas meal which came with rice and beans and was served with feta cheese sprinkles and guacamole. Everything is as served hot and fresh. I can't wait to return again soon! Note: the lighting is fairly dark but the community and cuisine bring this place to life!

Came here many times prior to COVID and just came back for dinner in Feb, 2023. Delighted by the service and the fajitas. One of us had steak, the other had chicken fajitas. Both excellent (and took some of it home). Also split a piece of chocolate cake. My friend and I also had a margarita. Quite good. This restaurant has been here more than 40 years and there are reasons for that - the food is very good.

I visited La Cucaracha Restaurant for the second time of my life on a Sunday evening. I live close to the restaurant so it was really nice to be able to walk to the restaurant with two of my friends. It seemed as though there was only street parking available and the restaurant was large with a fun and festive atmosphere. La Cucaracha was relatively quiet on this particular Sunday evening and we got seated at a high top at the bar quickly. We all ordered margaritas and they were not our favorite. I personally thought they were strong and my friends thought they were too sweet. Our waiter was really pleasant and attentive so the service at the restaurant was a plus. We ordered the chips and guacamole to start and they were very tasty. The guacamole was really nice and fresh tasting and I love that they gave us flour tortilla chips as they are my personal favorite. We all ordered the chicken tacos. The dish comes with three chicken tacos and you can choose between hard and soft shell tacos. I definitely recommend the hard shell tacos rather than the soft. I will definitely be coming back to La Cucaracha as it is a great, local restaurant near my home.

Friendly staff, clean and beautiful restaurant, and delicious food! We had the soup, carne asada tacos, and margaritas. Lots of flavor, even the homemade red and green sauce has a nice kick!

The service here is great and the food was so good I'm definitely looking forward to coming again

Nachos...no flavor at all. Meh to all of the meal.

Zero flavor on the nachos..queso is like cheese whiz and chips are odd. Service and ambiance was great...but probably won't be back

Delicious food and drinks with excellent service!! The best place for authentic Mexican cuisine in the area.

But, we were able to order and drink one drink during the ~45 minutes we had. They closed up shop promptly at 10pm. They had a classics and a "rumors" section of the menu. I didn't think the signature drinks were overly unique, with classics like Paper Plane making that menu side. I had a pomegranate mojito which was good! Consensus was that the cocktails were good not exceptional, especially for the $16-17 price point. We ordered churros for the table which were a table favorite! I wouldn't go out of my way to come here again, but we enjoyed our time and could see this being a good option if you lived in the neighborhood and don't mind the early close hours.

Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience, and I highly recommend giving it a try. One small note: We didn't realize a 20% gratuity had already been added to our bill. That's partially on us for not catching it on the credit card slip, (we tipped in cash) but I do think it would be helpful if servers mentioned it when presenting the check. I typically prefer to tip in cash, so on our $62 tab, we ended up leaving a $34 tip. Even with that little surprise, we'll absolutely be back. The people were a huge part of what made Emmett's feel welcoming, creative, and special, especially with the innovative cocktails. It's also disappointing to see what feels like a lack of appreciation for the staff and the longtime, dedicated customers who helped build this establishment into what it was. Unfortunately, the new direction feels much more canned and unoriginal--more like a Irish version of Applebee's or Outback Steakhouse than the unique place it used to be. There are simply too many great places to choose from to settle for something mundane and uninspired. The new GM has also made longtime customers feel unwelcome, with no acknowledgment or warmth when walking through the space. The atmosphere just isn't the warm, inviting place I once enjoyed. Sadly, I guess it's time to find a new favorite.
