I unfortunately have to give Parlour a 3.5 based on this last visit, but typically I truly would give them closer to a 4. I love the vibe, cocktails, service, and food here, but my recent visit the food was unfortunately a little too salty for my taste. We started with the fried pickles and aioli which were extremely salty - so much so that it was hard to keep eating them. This was a bummer though because the batter and the flavor of the pickles themselves was perfectly crispy. The burger and crispy chicken sandwhich were good! My friends and I went to visit here for our monthly restaurant night and it just happened to be a very snowy night. There was only one guy waiting tables and working the bar and he did such a great job on such a snowy night. We started with some apps; the French onion dip with homemade chips, loaded fries and Brussel sprouts. Those were all tasty and I enjoyed the homemade cheese dip that was on the fries and wanted to eat it with a spoon. We then each got a burger; funny is that we all chose a different one. We like to stay and chat and catch up about what has happened since last month so we decided to order dessert. My two friends each got a slice of pie and I only wanted a bite of my sisters pie and made a joke that I only wanted a bite and the waiter over heard me and he actually brought me a small slice on the house; he was so nice and I wasn't expecting that at all. It was such a nice booth that we were in and the restaurant wasn't very busy so we pretty much had the whole place to ourselves. I could sit there for hours and just chat and relax. I enjoy the vibe here: the space has lots of interesting architectural details, the booths feel intimate and allow conversation, and it's really attractive. Our server was extremely friendly and attentive; there was not point in the meal where she missed a beat. While it felt overpriced for the size, I will say that their signature parlour burger and patty melt were delicious. I'd even go so far as to say it might be among the best in the Twin Cities. They are known for their Old Fashioned, so I partook; it was memorable. The fries looked hand cut, and were served piping hot with just the right amount of seasoning, and a garlicky cheesy aioli dipping sauce. Living in the cities for over two decades, I think I've heard the most about this burger. I had high expectations, but left felling... meh? The service was friendly, but frankly slow. It was hard getting drinks or refills. They were out of sausage and turkey for their breakfast items, but willingly made adjustments to their dishes for free. Three of us got the burgers in our group and only one of us thought the burger lived up to its reputation. Apparently I'm a burger snob now. The chicken-fried steak came with meat grits; it was good, but I would highly suggest getting a side of starch or something to offset it. The Parlour Burger (is overpriced at $18) IS good--the cheese between the two patties makes a difference. The avocado toast was fine, although the $9 salmon addition was too much. We came here to sit at the bar, and have a couple drinks and snacks, and had a great time. The drinks were so delicious, my husband and I had 2 cocktails each and all were really well balanced and went great with food! Our bartender came over and actually made a new drink for my husband without asking, because he felt that the first drink wasn't perfectly up to standard - amazing service, and a testament to their cocktail craft! The food was good as well, we got the burger to share and some snacks, but the cocktails were the true standouts here. We sat in the bar area and while we didn't bring our baby, there was another child having dinner with their parents, so seems like it could be family friendly as well! Came right at opening and it was very quiet and I was dining alone. If you're dining alone, I suggest bringing a book or headphones unless you're big into jazz, which was fine for me. I got an iced tea, a bourbon bacon burger (with gluten free bun), and a side order of fries. The tea and fries were great. The bacon on the burger was very hard to the point I was afraid of chipping a tooth, but the rest of the burger sans bacon was amazing, messy but amazing. For any gluten free friends, the bun was okay, but not the best but it was lovely to have the option. I do wish the meal came with a side as there were so many fries in the side order and felt a bit of a waste. My server, Will, was the bar tender for the back bar and was polite. Went to the parlour late on a Saturday afternoon. We were shocked to see that it wasn't very busy maybe because nothing was going on at the Xcel Arena. Wanted to try some of their fancy cocktails. I didn't realize the size of the parlour till we walked in and stated we wanted to sit at the bar and was taken through a series of different store front and each room has its own motif. We were taken to the last room (4th 1st level store front) to this enormous bar. What we ordered: we order the happy hour deviled eggs which were the best deviled eggs I've ever had. The happy hour version has 2 on a plate for $5 so if you are hungry...you might want to order 2. I also ordered 2 different drinks: Too Much Heaven (tiki-esque drink) which was delish with what I call hospital ice. Small balls of ice. Then I ordered the Graupel - gin based cocktail in a low ball with "hospital" ice. The 2 drinks were very different from one another but both delish in their own way. The Graupel was very fragrant and floral while Too Much Heaven was tiki vibes and taking you away to a tropical destination. Negatives: the drinks are EXPENSIVE! Each one was roughly around $15 a piece. Service was great and the bartenders were friendly and courteous. We had reservations for 4 in the main dining area. It was a Thursday at 4pm, not too busy but by the time we left it was!! The main dining room has Giant booths for groups of four and are awesome!!! I had the Carmel Apple rotating cider. It was incredible and on the happy hour menu! Three people at our table had this drink! The Bourbon Espresso martini was the happy hour cocktail of the day, it was very strong! The Spiced jungle bird cocktail was different than what I had expected, very interesting drink! we were told in the beginning that we had to be out by a certain time to accommodate another reservation, but our server and the host worked it out so we could continue chatting, ordering drinks and having a great time at our table! Had a 12pm Sunday lunch reservation for a party of 5 and was excited to finally try this spot. I'd say it's been on my list for over a year (mainly for the burger). The brunch menu had many tempting options, but I went with what brought me in here the Parlour Burger. I added grilled onions and our group shared a side of fries which is more than enough to split. The burger was a double patty and more than I could eat in one sitting, so I had dinner for later (winning!). It was good, but it didn't wow me completely like I had hoped. Service was slower than expected. Our server was also required to tend the bar, and although he was friendly and personable, he was honestly just stretched too thin. Managing the bar and multiple tables at once seems like just too much for one individual to handle during a very busy time, especially if you're supposed to be attentive. It felt like along time to receive service. He wasn't set up to succeed. Something to note, allow yourself time for parking as it's street or ramp parking only. I love both Parlours. Both have great burgers and cocktails, the big difference being the size and feel of the place (North Loop is small and intimate while St. Paul is big and brighter.) The burgers here are still a ok the best in town if you like thin smash burgers. The buns are nicely grilled, the burger sort of crispy, the pickles bright and the cheese melty. The duck fat fries are amazing, ask for the aioli to make them even better. Beyond burgers there are bunch of other things including amazing cauliflower. I can't say enough about the drinks. Found ourselves with friends at Parlour tonight for restaurant week. Between the 4 of us we had all the items they were serving off their weeks menu. The deviled eggs delicious. You essentially get one full egg during restaurant week not really a shareable sized app, but really fricken tasty !!! The butter lettuce salad tangy with a champagne vinaigrette. My husband got the wild rice pot pie which was delicious pretty decent portion size. I loved their flaky top of a croissant I got the smash burger which is definitely a top burger in the twin cities! The bun was perfectly toasted. The burger had crispy edges and the sauce **chefs kiss** heads up doesn't come with a side of anything so we got a side of fries to share with the table. 4 of us were able to eat off of that with no issues. One of our friends got the falafel. Omg not a miss. Some places it's crazy dry, but not this one !!! Freaking delicious ! And the house made Taziki, olive tamponade. We are going back for this !!! They were even able to seat us right next to the window for a view outside. We didn't realize that everything was a La carte, but that was a good opportunity for us to share!
