Their salad with sesame seared tuna was seriously one of the best salads I had on our visit to the Island and I also really enjoyed their masitas de mero. Drink at the bar (we had mojitos) were well made and reasonably priced. Atmosphere is your typical mid priced seafood spot with nothing out of the ordinary. Service was good. Tenía una reservación para celebrar un cumpleaños un viernes, consciente de que es un día concurrido. El problema comenzó antes de entrar al restaurante, específicamente con el servicio de valet parking, que forma parte de la experiencia del cliente. Había una fila de carros esperando para el valet. En varias ocasiones colocaban conos indicando que estaba "lleno", pero observé repetidamente que sí aceptaban otros vehículos, particularmente de ciertas marcas, y luego volvían a cerrar la fila. Al preguntar, el Sr. José Luis (jefe de valet parking) me indicó que la fila que yo veía "era del restaurante de al lado" y que debía buscar estacionamiento "por ahí", con una actitud poco orientada al servicio al cliente. Accedí y di alrededor de seis vueltas buscando estacionamiento. Cada vez que pasaba frente al restaurante, él continuaba moviendo carros con el pito y estacionando otros vehículos. Al regresar, le pregunté de forma directa si el valet solo estacionaba Mercedes, ya que casualmente los carros que aceptaban eran vehículos costosos. Su respuesta fue: "Te iba a ayudar, pero por ese comentario no." Esto confirma una falta de profesionalismo y trato inadecuado, especialmente para alguien en una posición de supervisión. No hablé con la gerente para evitar conflictos de interés, pero considero importante dejar constancia escrita: el servicio al cliente comienza desde afuera, y una mala experiencia inicial puede afectar completamente una celebración o reservación. Dicho esto, y siendo justa, la experiencia dentro del restaurante fue buena. This restaurant is your typical place if you are craving a good plate of Puerto Rican food. Service is good, but I wouldn't recommend on a Friday night when it is super packed because it can take a while and many drunk customers (not all the time, but it's pretty common). Why I won't visit this place on a Friday Night: They do not measure the alcohol intake of the clients and we really had an uncomfortable situation with a drunk customer. My husband was with put baby in the ramp for he could see the view and this guy was just harassing my husband and calling names. My husband had our 10month baby so he remained calm and just found another route to avoid him. FYI any restaurants and/bar are responsible for their consumers to some point. By jurisprudence, every establishment needs to stop serving alcohol to visibly drunk customers to avoid any accident in or out of the establishment. read more

I haven't been to many Cueva Del Mar restaurants, but the ones I've been to are generally consistent. Good seafood in a pleasant family friendly environment. The experience at this location was no different. The fish tacos were good and the shrimp yucafongo (yucca mofongo) was also good, although I prefer the traditional plantain mofongo. Service was a bit slow, but it was a full house so I guess that is to be expected. It doesn't look like it from outside but the indoor dining hall is huge. There is also an outdoor terrace. There are three bars. One in the front so you can order a drink while you wait to be seated or if you just want to drink. There is another in the indoor dining area and one outside. They have several happy hours. Just ask. Valet parking is available. read more

This is a very good place to eat I fully recommend this place. If you're in PR with family this place is appropriate to eat at. This review is for this location at the date shown. Anyway, food was great and the place was so confortable to be with the family. There's lots of space between tables and chairs so any family would be confortable. Bathrooms are good and there's lots of parking. They have valet parking but you don't have to use them. Prices are good and food is great. We were searching for a place to dine at and after searching and stopping at several places and not being able to find a table we decided to try a place outside of the tourist area and I am glad we did. The restaurant is very spacious with several areas to dine at. It is nicely decorated and brightly lit. We were immediately seated and were taken cared of. For starters we had an order of sweet chili calamari, which were not overly sweet nor spicy. I was fine with that. For our entrees I had the surf and turf which was churrasco and shrimp served in garlic sauce with a side order of mixed veggies in a garlic butter sauce, they were so good!!!! My girlfriend had the fried red snapper. We have been to other places where they serve you a humongous piece of fish which unfortunately she never gets to finish because it is too large. The cool thing about this place was that she was able to select the fish she wanted. Naturally she picked one which was just right for her and she loved it. It was seasoned beautifully and fried perfectly. For dessert we shared an absolutely delicious cake with guava sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The great thing about this place is that it is away from the tourist area so it is not so congested, but be prepared to have to find a place to park because parking was limited. I would have given them 5 stars except for the fact the service was a bit slow, but the food more than made up for it. The service was not awful; plus we were on vacation so we took it in stride. If I could give 1/2 stars it would have been 4 1/2 stars. read more

The food tasted incredible! The seafood was so so so fresh and all the flavor profiles were fire. We got the fried chillo and mofongo with shrimp and both were amazing, and we also got an arepa with octopus to share and that was delicious as well. For dessert, we shared a flan and vanilla ice cream and it was the perfect addition to our amazing meal. Our server was so kind and friendly the entire afternoon and the outdoor ambiance of the patio makes for a great lunch outside with some sun. Would highly recommend! read more

We were craving for some seafood and we were fortunate to visit the new facilities in the Guaynabo Area. The new place is huge, you feel some space and is well decorated. Parking is tight, but there is valet available. Be ready for some waiting time specially on rush hours. Both my wife and I were very pleased with our selections. This restaurant came highly recommended by our coworker who had visited this place the previous night. So the seven of us were really excited to visit this place and boy were we not disappointed! There were two different indoor dining sections of the restaurant. They placed us near the bar section. We ordered drinks, appetizers and entrees. My coworker ordered an escargot and it was dunked in garlic herb butter. Very good and no after taste. I ordered the pork chunks for an appetizer and it was full of flavor and tender. For my main dish, I ordered a small conch salad. The server asked me for my side and I told her rice & bean as the menu states that the item includes one side. When my check was printed, it included a large conch Salad instead of the small size I ordered. When I asked about the check, she stated that the small size is smaller than what was given to me. Note to self, verify before you order since the item I ordered was under a listing that states it comes with a side order. When I was chewing on the conch I could feel the grainy shell. Hence 1 star deducted. The beans were very delicious. All of my coworkers were very impressed with their food and drinks. This includes: the delicious lobster & Shrimp paella, shrimp with avocado, fish fillet, Mofongos, escargot, calamari in asian sauce, etc. Parking can be tricky here. We parked a block away, but when we were getting out of the restaurant I noticed that they have a valet parking too. Hadn't been here since before the pandemic and the food is still as good as I remembered. However... Staff walking around without masks, masks under the nose, masks around the neck. From the valet to the guys in the kitchen. Even a gentleman who seemed to be a manager, not once did he pull up his mask even when approaching tables and speaking to customers. Sad to say I won't be coming back. I get it. We all hate masks. But it's not too much to ask to be strict about the one thing keeping your customers safe. read more

I was here with my parents on a Friday night, as I had a chance to visit them for a few days. I had moved from Puerto Rico to Illinois 6 months prior so I was longing for some good seafood and an ice cold Medalla. It was a busy night in Old San Juan but we were able to get a table in a decent amount of time. We went with all appetizers starting off with bolitas de queso (fried cheese filled balls) with guava dipping sauce. These are one of my favorite Puerto Rican appetizers and the guava sauce is the perfect companion to these deep fried pieces of heaven. We also had some sweet chili calamari which have a kick to them and are so delicious! My dad ordered a seafood salad with tostones, my mom ordered some masitas de dorado (battered, fried fish) and I had an arepa rellena de camarones (shrimp filled arepa). Everything was amazing! I may be biased because I hadn't been able to eat all these things in a while but I loved everything! I do have to say, I was disappointed that they removed the oysters from their menu, as that was the first thing on my mind when I walked in. Oysters aside, if you're visiting Old San Juan you should really stop by La Cueva del Mar. You won't regret it! read more
