We visited here for dinner and later for drinks at a private event at their back bar. Their salad with sesame seared tuna was seriously one of the best salads I had on our visit to the Island and I also really enjoyed their masitas de mero. Drink at the bar (we had mojitos) were well made and reasonably priced. Atmosphere is your typical mid priced seafood spot with nothing out of the ordinary. Service was good. I'd definitely come back here. We were able to get an Uber to and from here within minutes too!

Excellent the food we ordered was amazing. I had the yuca mofongo and it was out of this world. Service is great and the ambiance.

I haven't been to many Cueva Del Mar restaurants, but the ones I've been to are generally consistent. Good seafood in a pleasant family friendly environment. The experience at this location was no different. The fish tacos were good and the shrimp yucafongo (yucca mofongo) was also good, although I prefer the traditional plantain mofongo. Service was a bit slow, but it was a full house so I guess that is to be expected. It doesn't look like it from outside but the indoor dining hall is huge. There is also an outdoor terrace. There are three bars. One in the front so you can order a drink while you wait to be seated or if you just want to drink. There is another in the indoor dining area and one outside. They have several happy hours. Just ask. Valet parking is available.

This is a very good place to eat I fully recommend this place. If you're in PR with family this place is appropriate to eat at. This review is for this location at the date shown. Anyway, food was great and the place was so confortable to be with the family. There's lots of space between tables and chairs so any family would be confortable. Bathrooms are good and there's lots of parking. They have valet parking but you don't have to use them. Prices are good and food is great. We ate fish tacos Good Trifongo with Ropa vieja Great Note: Personel is very friendly.

Highly recommended for someone wanting a seafood plate. The restaurant was spacious, the service was excellent, and the different plates we ordered were delicious. We ended up going twice during our stay/vacation.

We were searching for a place to dine at and after searching and stopping at several places and not being able to find a table we decided to try a place outside of the tourist area and I am glad we did. The restaurant is very spacious with several areas to dine at. It is nicely decorated and brightly lit. We were immediately seated and were taken cared of. For starters we had an order of sweet chili calamari, which were not overly sweet nor spicy. I was fine with that. For our entrees I had the surf and turf which was churrasco and shrimp served in garlic sauce with a side order of mixed veggies in a garlic butter sauce, they were so good!!!! My girlfriend had the fried red snapper. We have been to other places where they serve you a humongous piece of fish which unfortunately she never gets to finish because it is too large. The cool thing about this place was that she was able to select the fish she wanted. Naturally she picked one which was just right for her and she loved it. It was seasoned beautifully and fried perfectly. For dessert we shared an absolutely delicious cake with guava sauce with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. The great thing about this place is that it is away from the tourist area so it is not so congested, but be prepared to have to find a place to park because parking was limited. I would have given them 5 stars except for the fact the service was a bit slow, but the food more than made up for it. The service was not awful; plus we were on vacation so we took it in stride. If I could give 1/2 stars it would have been 4 1/2 stars.

The food tasted incredible! The seafood was so so so fresh and all the flavor profiles were fire. We got the fried chillo and mofongo with shrimp and both were amazing, and we also got an arepa with octopus to share and that was delicious as well. For dessert, we shared a flan and vanilla ice cream and it was the perfect addition to our amazing meal. Our server was so kind and friendly the entire afternoon and the outdoor ambiance of the patio makes for a great lunch outside with some sun. Would highly recommend!

We were craving for some seafood and we were fortunate to visit the new facilities in the Guaynabo Area. The new place is huge, you feel some space and is well decorated. Parking is tight, but there is valet available. Be ready for some waiting time specially on rush hours. Both my wife and I were very pleased with our selections. The sides were also very good, like the congri, the breadfruit tostones. Service was attentive and made you feel welcome.

She offered to seat us if the party didn't arrive within the grace period. Thankfully, they never showed up, and the table became ours. From that point on, everything was fantastic. The food was spectacular, and the service was just as impressive. Every dish was beautifully prepared and full of flavor. I've been eating pork for days, so that was not an option, and I really didn't want chicken nor fish. However, the waitress told me one of the chicken dishes was very good so I tried it. I had an appetizer and a cocktail. They were fine. For the entree, I had chicken breast with a creamy garlic sauce, served with seasoned rice mixed with beans. The rice was flavorful, but it was not warm, not heated thoroughly. The chicken lacked depth of flavor. It was cooked plain with a garlic sauce poured on top and a few slices of red sweet peppers. Service was fine. The waitress was very friendly and asked how everything was. I told her the rice was not warm. She offered to fix it. However, I lost my appetite. Casual dining atmosphere. Unfortunately, the food was mediocre. Maybe is was a bad night, not sure. I'm on vacation, so I will not return.

The portions were very large, and we would have been fine with just two menu items! To start, we had the roasted eggplant, lamb 'picadillo', date sofrito, 'Feliche' yogurt. Really delicious and probably best for sharing among 3-4 people as it's a bit heavy given the lamb. Nevertheless, it was really good and we finished it! For entrees, we tried the (1) rice with rabbit, sweet plantain in its leaf and the (2) breaded pork loin, mushroom cream, cherokee tomatoes from San Lorenzo, tostones. Our server was super excited when we ordered the rice with rabbit and I understand why. It was insanely flavorful. Also a massive portion haha. We really enjoyed this. The pork loin was delicious as well, especially with the mushroom cream. Plantains are one of my favorite foods, and these tostones did not disappoint. The restaurant itself is beautiful. It's a nice mix of modern decor with homey, vintage elements. There is a very large outdoor space, but I'm really glad we ate inside. Definitely recommend - especially for a group that likes to share!

ALL TOGETHER NOW…read more Both sides of our family enjoyed a nice dinner at this restaurant in Guaynabo. It's rare that my wife's parents and my parents get to share a meal together, as they're usually separated by 2,000 miles. When my folks flew down to Puerto Rico for New Years 2024, they joined us at Típico, a trendy Puerto Rican restaurant southwest of San Juan. Everyone liked their cocktails, including a lavender martini and Long Island-type drink made with blue Curaçao. I was on flu meds so I had to excuse myself from imbibing, although sticking with water helped keep the bill down (which, considering the previous night's splurge, was probably for the best). The queso frito & prosciutto ($13) could have been a really tasty appetizer, sadly they were long past overcooked. The paneer-like cheese cubes with drizzle of guava sauce spent too much time in the fryer and came out hard as rocks. We actually got two orders and both were burnt. On the other hand, my brother-in-law ordered the mofongo de churrasco ($29) and it got rave reviews. I ordered the pechuga empanada ($18), thinking it would be a savory filled pastry, but it was basically a chicken cutlet with tostones. It was delicious in spite of user error (I later found out that what I sought were 'empanadillas', not 'empanadas'). Bread = 4 Circuses = 3.5 The dining room is on the smaller side, perfect for date nights but not ideal for large groups....which our party of 8 adults + 2 kids certainly was. Maybe it was our fault for reserving a bigger table at an intimate venue, but the food took a very long time to come out (upwards of 45-50 minutes). It soon became apparent that we overloaded the kitchen; my brother-in-law's girlfriend received her food 15 minutes after everyone else. The ambiance inside was fashionable and a bit nicer than I expected. Bathrooms were clean. They have valet outside since parking spaces are limited. * TL;DR * While our experience was fine overall, under different circumstances it might've been better. It's possible we caught the kitchen off-guard by slamming them with eight entrees at once, although a decently trained staff should be able to handle a wave of orders like that. Just to be safe I'd suggest booking as a group of 2-4. Despite the burnt appetizer and long delays in service, I'd still recommend Típico.

The service was a little confusing at first. We were seated and expected to access the menu through a QR code, which wasn't immediately explained to us. We initially expected traditional menus, so there was a bit of uncertainty before we realized how the ordering process worked. We were also seated near one of the air conditioning units, which made some members of our party feel a bit cold during the meal. However, once the food arrived, all of those concerns quickly disappeared. The food was incredible. Rich, flavorful, and beautifully prepared, every dish at the table was delicious. The arroz con pollo was honestly the best I have ever had in my life. It was perfectly seasoned, comforting, and packed with flavor. Every bite felt like authentic Puerto Rican cooking at its best.
