So glad I chose to dine here, the food was incredible! My waitress (unfortunately I forgot her game) was amazing and attentive. These were probably some of the best lamb chops I've ever eaten. The manchego cheese and priosciutto appetizer was also very fresh. I would definitely recommend this place.

A Cozy, Homey Delight El Sabor de Reina had such a cozy, at-home vibe. All the staff were very friendly and helpful. The food matched the vibe perfectly. I ordered the chef's special, carne guisada with arroz con habichuelas. The carne was so tender, falling apart with every bite, and bursting with flavors. When paired with the rice and beans, it reminded me of home--whoever's abuelita is in the back needs a raise! The piña colada I had paired perfectly with the food, adding a refreshing touch to the meal. Overall, I highly recommend going here before stepping out into La Placita. I guarantee you'll be happy, full, and ready for the night out!

I walked to La Placita in the afternoon to see the market vibe in Santurce. As most websites online said during the day, it's a family scene. Kids running outside the Arlen and tons of families eating outside. From la placita I turned right and saw two women smoking and I asked if they had eaten anywhere in La Placita they pointed to the restaurant directly across us, El Sabor de Reina. I started laughing because the way they responded was basically, look no further, that's where it's at. I chatted with them for a few minutes until their waiter from El Sabor de Reina came out and said that their food is ready. So we walked into the restaurant together. Once seated I ordered the steak stuffed avocado (per recommendation of the ladies I met outside). The dish was big but I managed to eat almost all of it, yes that was my only meal of the day and I could not manage to eat dinner afterwards. I would say this is a great dish, but I would say you might as well go for the mofongo steak. I was going for something on the low side of carbs but honestly I should have just gotten mofongo because I still had tostones.

    This the chicken dinner.

Absolutely wonderful experience. The service was great- from waitress to the bartenders. The food was awesome. We had the famous pork dish and the chicken dish. I wish I remembered the name of the chicken dish, there is only one. There is outdoor seating so you can watch the crowds enjoying their time in la Placita. The owner, Reyna, was attentive and fun. We practiced mi hablamos Espanol. This restaurant is MUCHO GUSTO!

The service was great and the food was even better. The food was well seasoned and flavorful. Everything was reasonably priced. It looks small but there is an upstairs dining area.

Right at the heart of PR's dancing and dining plaza-La Placita, this place is situated! The location is highly recommended if you are up to salsa dance. I loved and enjoyed the ambiance of the Square. We were accommodated on the second floor of the restaurant. Wished we fit on the patio area for a good view of the Square happenings. Since we were a big group, it took a while before our food was served. Each one of us ordered our own meal and shared appetizers. I went for a la valenciana . Huge portion. Glad that my husband shared it with me. I did not like it much - too salty for me. I was not happy with my sangria drinks too- missing of something. My companions seemed happy with what they've ordered. Our servers were nice. They were efficient and friendly. A good place to dine in.

Very local and the food matched!! Amazing flavors, absolutely fresh and met all expectations. It was so good I was tempered to have the same meal days In a row!! La Placita is a must for all looking for a Dive bar/local/great food/ no tourist trap vibe!!

I order salmon. Wife order azopao de camarones (Shrimp soup w rice) Good service, good flavors. Salmon was cook Crispín out and moist I inside. Really good. Wife azopao was good too. I'll come back when I return to Puerto Rico.

STAY AWAY!!! Especially if you are a person of color. Horrible horrible service. No one help us with our order until we asked. However the white party of 4 was promptly served with drink orders and waters. We asked for beef empanadas and they gave us crab! The waiters just ignored us our whole visit. Very rude

I forgot what this was called tbh. It's a chicken with mushroom sauce. Very good.

Nice little find in la placita. We needed to stop and eat somewhere before drinking the night away and this place was a decent stop. I would recommend.

On a Saturday night we "discovered" Plaza de Mercado de Santurce. Crowds packed the streets eating, drinking, hanging out, salsa-zing. We found the 'real' San Juan! Located on a side street of the plaza, we decided to gamble dinner on El Sabor de Reina since it looked small and casual, but popular. While the downstairs was turning into a packed bar with live music, we got the last table in the balcony overlooking the musicians. The jazzy latin music really created warm, neighborhood ambience. John, our waiter, was super nice, and although we already had way too much fun at happy hour, convinced us to try their red sangria. Excelente! The menu had a variety of local and international selections. I chose a chalkboard special, Rabo Encendido. It was so good! This was my only chance to get oxtails stew on this trip and it was full of spices and flavor. This was one of the most memorable dining experiences of my trip. We were probably the only tourists in the restaurant and bar. We didn't mind that as it was easily the most local place we ate at, the music really got us in a relaxed Latin mood, and it had delicious food any Reina would be proud to serve. With the friendly top-notch service, I'd definitely come back here on my next visit.

Didn't like this appetizer sampler at all! Way too much cheese

Nice indoor/outdoor spot. I had the seafood mofongo, it was sooo good!!!. I had one of their sampler appetizers and I didn't like it. It was too many cheese dishes.

The restaurant itself is absolutely beautiful, and the service was excellent from beginning to end, from the hostess to the servers and bussers. Our server, Jeffery, was amazing! He was energetic, professional, attentive, and you can genuinely tell he takes his position seriously. I loved that! We were greeted with complimentary sopa de plátano and bacalaítos, and I was NOT expecting to love them as much as I did. This was by far the best sopa de plátano I've ever had. I never thought I could fall in love with a soup, but here we are! (I ordered a whole extra regular size bowl )The bacalaítos were another surprise because they're normally not something I order or even particularly like--and I've tried quite a few in my life--but these were absolutely delicious. My S/O and I shared the churrasco with arroz mamposteao, along with a side of avocado salad and majado de viandas. Everything was a straight 10/10. Not one disappointment on the table. They also make an amazing Rojo Pico, which was the perfect addition to the experience. 100% recommend Casita Miramar. Don't overthink JUST GO! Kept seeing a bunch of reviews on how amazing this place was and honestly it's up there…read more To start off, I'm not really a sweets guy so my take is going to be a little off from the general public. We were able to snag a reservation but for a late time which was about an hour and a half before close. The service was super great but one thing I wished they mentioned that the bottled water was going to be a $40 charge lol. Makes sense for any upscale restaurant though. Should've mentioned we wanted tap so fair warning, ask cause you WILL get charged haha. We had a group of 10 and for how big the group was, the food came out pretty fast. I don't think we ever had a time between drinks to entrees where we were waiting for food to come out. We got the watermelons mojito for drinks since it was the most raved about. It was good but personally nothing crazy for me. 8/10 score on that. We also curry popcorn chicken, the ahi tuna lollipops, the empanadillas and the goat cheese quesadillas for apps and honestly overall 9/10. This is where I don't like the sweetness part of this meal. The empanadillas were what I was most excited for but it was more sweet then savory which sort of lose my appetite a little. I think if you like that kind of taste then it's going to be good. It wasn't a bad taste at all. Just too sweet for my liking. The curry popcorn chicken was good and the lollipops were great. Again, nothing crazy. The goat cheese quesadillas was good as well but again, too sweet for my liking. Now on to the entree, they didn't have the porkchop since we came late so I ended up getting the porkchop belly dish. When it came out, it looked amazing but then I got a whiff of it and smelled cinnamon. That's when I was sort of disappointed. It was like eating pork but tasting Cinnamon Toast Crunch and as said before, it tasted great but too sweet for me. This one was way too sweet to where it seemed like a dessert item. I just had poor luck and got one of the one items that were sweet. This doesn't tank the rating down whatsoever because I also should've read it had cinnamon. It would've been great if they made a dipping sauce or something to pair it with and not have it on the pork belly itself. I got to try other dishes my friends got which were good as well but I wish I got to try something else. If I came back I would try the sold out item which was the pork shank or the sea bass. I know for a fact the sea bass was amazing. Had a bite of it and thought "I'll come back for that" Overall, 10/10 experience and nothing bad about the place but gotta try different items when I go next time. I understand the hype now

Prior to even ordering, I asked if their famous fish tacos would have the same coleslaw with their special sauce intermixed like it's been since 2007, but in recent visit on Dec 2025 was not the same. He stated he understood. When it arrived, the cole slaw was dry, not the same famous fish tacos i've been used to for years unfortunately. It was unnecessary for the waiter (male in his 50s with black ivy cap) to insist to try to prove me wrong stating that "it's always been this way and i've worked here for 15 years" when my mother and i have had these fish tacos since it opened originally in guaynabo circa ~2007. Mind you, i am bilingual and overheard the waiter talking to the kitchen. Their solution was to bring sauce on the side. My partner ate 1 fish taco, I ate none. When we left the establishment, the waiter went outside to stop my fiance. The waiter never approached me to apologize directly por el mal rato. I also found it extremely distasteful to have to overhear an employee (brunette) on her break (or otherwise) with her foul language near our toddler. We'll just have to stick to another location that treats customers better.

This is global techniques blended with locally sourced Puerto Rican ingredients. From the moment you walk in, you feel welcome. I was there to celebrate my birthday (a reservation is a must). I asked if I could be seated in a different section of the restaurant, and even though they were packed, they said absolutely and found me a lovely seat in the bar area. The staff is knowledgeable and attentive. I suffer from severe food allergies but wanted to experience their tasting menu. My server spoke to the chef directly and then took the time to walk me through every option. I TRULY appreciated that they did not take anything off the menu but rather told me how they could adjust for my allergies. That is very rare and so very much appreciated that they went that extra mile for me. I highly recommend the tasting menu. It's 5 courses and they give you 3 options to choose from, within each course. And for the price ($85), a great value. Everything was delicious but I highly recommend the Breadfruit Gnocchi, Rainbow Runner Crudo, and Criollo Duck Mofongo. Chefs kiss! What I also noticed was, even though they were insanely busy, they didn't make you feel rushed. The invited you to savor the experience - which I did. Next time you are in San Juan, make a reservation and go. You won't be disappointed!

4.5 stars. Cocina Abierta was one of the better meals of our trip. The food was excellent overall,…read morewith the lone exception being the empanadas, which were simply too salty. Everything else was very well done. The two of us split one order of the five-course tasting menu plus an additional starter, and it ended up being a nice light meal. Had we each ordered our own tasting menu, it would have been far more food than we wanted...something we found to be a fairly common theme with portion sizes throughout Puerto Rico. The standout of the evening was the Criollo Duck Mofongo, which was absolutely exquisite and easily the best mofongo we had on our trip by far. The cocktails were tasty and unique, but a bit small for the price. This definitely isn't an every-night kind of restaurant...the prices are on the higher side. But if you're looking to splurge a little, it's a fun place to do it.
