I managed to score some La Cumbre once again and the beer I had was just as wonderful as the first time I had them. The first experience was with a corn lager but this time around we got a different beer type, an IPA. The IPA we had was the Elevated IPA which was very refreshing and a nice change of pace as I haven't had an IPA for a hot minute. Flavor characteristics with this beer are hoppy, piney, floral and malty with a smooth body. It definitely had a crisp and refreshing aspect to it as well so I suspect it was the hops or pine elements at play. Very impressed with this beer and it was a great return to try out a beer I haven't had from La Cumbre! read more

Nothing is better than a cold beer after a long hike along the Rio Grande on a warm day, and since La Cumbre Westside was just a short drive from the trail we hiked, it was the perfect place to stop. I enjoyed their Hefeweizen. It reminded me of the hefeweizen's I had the last time I was in Germany and Austria -- wheaty, slightly cloudy, a bit yeasty, with head of very fine foam. And they served it in a proper glass too. Albuquerque is home to a number of fine local and regional breweries and tap rooms. I don't have a favorite -- they all serve decent beer in attractive spaces. Without a doubt, La Cumbre is worthy of membership on my "Best Breweries and Taprooms in Albuquerque" list. read more

We stopped at happy hour, I had a wine and Pablo had Malpais Stout (too dry) and Oscura Azul, (not dark enough) but malt, tasty and refreshing. $5 at happy hour so very good value. I recently moved back to NM. I live on the West side and was happy to see that my favorite brewery in town had a tap room near me ($8 dollar Uber). I had a growler with me ready to fill with Elevated IPA. I sat down at the bar and the beer tender asked if I had tried some of their other choices. I could get Elevated IPA in Tucson, so that was my go to. I tried the Sun Fade in pint. Immediately, I was able to taste the citrus and of course the hops that La Cumbre is famous for. I took a growler home of that. I've been back several times now and try something different every time. All of their beer is tasty. Some of my friends are beer people, but they also have a couple of wines and ciders. The place is just one big room with chairs and tables. Decor was beer stuff and nice. There is a restaurant next door if you need food as well. read more

Anyone who knows me knows that I love La Cumbre. I have been to their Girard taproom more times than I can count. I know the staff there and I love them and their beers. But this is the first time that I have been to their westside taproom. And that's because my brother in law lives out this way. Well, shame on me for not heading over. We had a friend and her to daughters here and were looking for a beer for the adults. So we gave them a call and asked if it was okay that we brought the kids, on a saturday evening, about 9 pm. The manager said sure, it's all good. So we headed over and were absolutely welcomed in our party of 6. The beer is absolutely as good as the main location. I loved the Project Dank winter edition. So good, and completely ABQ in it's hops and character. God, I love the beer from this city. The staff was amazing, and we brought in a bit of food from nearby restaurants as well. I love La Cumbre and you know I'll be both here and downtown every chance I get. read more

We stopped in on a Friday night for some beers. This location is very new and we enjoyed it a lot! The ambiance was great - both modern and rustic with New Mexico touches everywhere. The beer was great and the service was good as well. My only comment would be that I would love a little bit more interaction with the bartenders! Although I love their beer, I can't give this place more than three stars. This bustling public house is always packed (good for them, but annoying for me); and even the few times I've been there when it was not quite wall-to-wall with millennials and their well behaved dogs, the noise level was still off the charts. On my recent visit, the M'Tucci's waitress was efficient and accurately estimated our delivery time from their location across Montano for an order of delicious (but rather tepid) truffle fries to be less than twenty minutes. Many folks seemed thrilled with their pizzas, which were cheerfully delivered in large boxes. Our handsome beertender seemed a bit snippy and overwhelmed, but delivered generous samples of three seasonal offerings -- although the porter was rich and satisfying, I went with the juicy IPA. It was stellar! I always enjoy La Cumbre's fantastic Elevated IPA and Slice Of Hefen, but there are several watering holes in ABQ that offer these at happy hour and everyday prices that are much more reasonable. There are often several top-notch seasonal brews to enjoy, so be sure to check them out. read more

Any local craft beer snob is well-versed in La Cumbre- Jeff brews a solid beer and the ones that he experiments with are no joke either. We had been wanting to try this new-ish taproom for a while and it did not disappoint. Honestly, I had no idea this shopping center existed but it's a nice little spot and easy to get to. There is ample parking (unlike the location off Candelaria) and plenty of room. It was super busy but service was still attentive and friendly. The tables in the booths are beautiful but a bit odd since they're more narrow than a traditional table which feels a little weird. There's some fun murals on the walls and it is very quintessential New Mexico with plenty of space. Dogs, families, friends- it was a place for everyone and a huge bike rack out front if that's your thing. This was a much needed addition to the area- now they just need one in the heights!!! read more

This is not far from home and is a great place to have a drink, especially because of the proximity to several restaurants. Last visit my friend and I grabbed burgers from next door and headed to the patio to have a drink with our lunch. I know this is a beer drinker's place, and I've only heard good things, but being gluten-free I can't do it. I'm just happy they carry one cider option so I can hang out there too. Carry a couple options and I'll give you five stars! Service has always been good there and the bathrooms are clean. Saw consistent mask wearing among the staff too. read more

La Cumbre always has some awesome seasonal beers on tap at all times, as well as the classics such as Elevated IPA and A taste of Hefe. Considering this is one of New Mexico's craft beer heavy hitters, I'm amazed it took them this long to build their first tap room, but now that I'm theorizing, I totally get the delay: they were waiting for me to move to the west side. Hey, smart strategizin', Jeff Erway! If you live in this rapidly developing area of Albuquerque, you're within walking distance of a clutch of big city basics which, arguably, cannot be found anywhere else. Local restaurants, fresh groceries and a good butcher, health and nutrition centers, gyms and yoga, bike paths and walks along the river. About the only thing the area lacked, far as I could tell, was a great brewery. And maybe a bakery. And good coffee. Legit New Mexican food. A hardware store. Okay, we're still missing out. Offering four or five pages of distinctive, delightful pours, this La Cumbre swillery more than satisfies my itch for a great pint. My experience thus far has been impressive. Good servers, even when the place is jam-packed. Friendly, even funny beertenders. Families are welcome. A clean venue with lots of space to lock up your bike after a bosque ride, you're welcome to bring your own bite to eat, order delivery or grab charcuterie from M'Tucci's Market, right down the street. Great atmosphere and great selection of beers. Unlike other cliche and trendy breweries, this brewery didn't only have IPAs but had a little something for everyone. The staff is friendly and helpful. Stephen went out of his way to make sure that we had a great experience and brought us a tasting flight. The hazy IPA was light and fresh, the slice of hefen had a hint of banana, the amber ale was a solid ale, both porters were dark and bold, the mango gose was fruity and sour, and their seasonal beer was pumpkin spiced goodness. They don't have food but they partner with the restaurants in the area so you can get food delivered. read more

A new spot for la cumbre lovers! You'll find them on the west side, well in need of some brewery life! Easy to find and get to in a new shopping area! Well equipped with an ample bike rack and plenty of parking. The dining room has plenty of seating. Although there is no real space for a food truck, food is being offered by a pizza joint across the street near flic brewhouse and tonight, m'tuccis! The digs are chill sportin art by the same artist that covers the walls at the location on girard. They offer patio and inside seating with the option of the bar, tables, booths and even standing tables as well! The service is on point. We were checked on by two other bartenders/servers even after our order was already taken! Love that they have expanded and offer a great place to chill on the west side! You should be sure to check them out! No foosball here but they do have a shuffle board and old school video arcade game with the pac man and dig dug among others! read more

La Cumbre's Westside taproom is very cool, spacious, and clean. The staff is very friendly, the chandeliers are cool and so are the games. I really wanted to give the place a better review based on the location and the vibe but the beer situation wasn't ideal. I understand that IPAs are the staple go-to for most customers but over 50% of the taps were occupied by different IPAs when I visited. On top of that they were all very high IBU IPAs, they pretty much burnt out my tastebuds. It'd be nice to see some more variance in the tap-list, taking some risks with more 'out there' beers and more variability. read more

La Cumbre Westside is beautifully decorated and has great open seating. They are a brewery and offer a wide variety of craft beers. The one I like the most is BEER, it is their light lager option. i like the lighter craft beers because they tend to be a little more session-able. I can drink a few while enjoying the night without it being over powering. You can choose between 10, 16, and 20 ounces glasses. Their most popular beer is called a Slice of Hefen! Make sure you ask them the ABB ( Alcohol By Volume) some of their beers can be as high as 9 to 10%. They have a great location and they are right next to a Sushi Freak and Grassburger. Which makes it a great place to grab food next door or bring it into the brewery, while also enjoying a beer within their restaurant. read more

I've been to the La Cumbre off Candelaria and on Girard and I have always been a huge fan of their beer. I like that this location on the Westside is in a nice newly developed shopping strip. From the outside it doesn't seem very large but when you walk in it's pretty good sized. They even have a patio are where you can sit. I love the booths with the wooden tables. Really neat shiny finish they but on that wood it looks amazing. They have a small video game table near the restrooms in the back along with 2 comfortable single person sofas. They have a great selection of their own brew beers. They really did a great job decorating the place. It's smaller than the other location on Girard but I dig it! The server was on top of his game. He kept casually checking up on us every so often making sure we were satisfied. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. The best part about it was being there drinking delicious beers with my dad and sharing the experience with him. Best way to spend a Sunday night! We will definitely be returning! read more

I loved the La Cumbre taproom on the west side of Albuquerque but if you are knowledgeable on their beers and some of their specialty beers then their original location would be the best way to go for the hardcore beer drinker. Still, at the taproom they offer the beers that made them famous and occasionally a few seasonal selections. Regardless, great atmosphere and more spacious that their original location. My how you've grown! La Cumbre is one of my fave local success stories, and the west side tap room is a fun new chapter. Far from the early days of Jeff pouring behind the counter while their toddler roamed the original premises, this new loc is a polished, well-oiled machine. Fun murals, funky booths, games for kids (and adult kids), a patio with (sort of) a view and solid food partnerships, and yes, TV's (SPORTS!!) means something for everyone. Two wines and a canned cider selection suffice for non-beer drinkers. Excellent access to Bosque trails means this will probably be a popular new addition to cyclists' routes. LC continues to lead the brewery scene here, and they get mad props for economic impact. Cheers to another bright spot in NM's creative economy!
