The place was inviting and mood was great. It doesn't look like they have an actual kitchen so the menu could be limited depending on the time of day you go. They could be out of things. I ordered to go on the phone and was told how long it'll take. I had it time before heading over hoping my order would be ready. I really wanted to like it based off of other reviews, however was disappointed. The Pho size is just one size which was about a medium. That is ok. However, the amount of meat given in my opinion is that of a small. I brought my food home and it was barely warm. My destination was not far away. My order wasn't ready when I arrived so waited on my it. My assumption would be since I was at the restaurant when it was being made and my destination is less than 2 minutes away, it should've been hot still. I had to warm the broth for about 4 minutes to get hot again. That's fine, a bit inconvenient but I can do that. The meat was a small portion than I would expect. The taste did have flavor but not my top, personally. Where the disappointment came in more was the freshness of things. The bag of bean sprouts and jalapeños is pre-packaged but it was bad. I know that the employees should've noticed this because they opened it to put the fresh cut lime in it. The color was browning which doesn't always indicate bad, but there was a smell to it and it was slimy and sticky inside. Pho without bean sprouts, jalapeño, and lime can be ok but that is what makes it better. Additionally, everything I ordered too quite a bit of time to make considering I was the only customer and the only order they were working on. I called ahead of time but still waited. I like occasionally stopping here. It's close to PLU which is nice. I recently got the Banh Mi sandwich with tofu. The tofu was good... wish it came with more! The interior was clean and spacious. I ordered the beef pho and was surprised that it was served in a black plastic togo bowl. The broth wasn't hot enough for my liking, especially because it was a cold day. It took about 20 minutes for my order, which was the least of my complaints. La Cà Café is the sister restaurant to La Cà Bar in Tacoma, one of my favorite restaurants to frequent. The cafe definitely has a more laid back vibe, which makes sense because it caters more to the college scene with PLU nearby. The bar near 6th Ave is definitely more of a late night party spot, with a full bar upstairs and TouchTunes always blasting. I was in the area and was looking for a spot to work and take a couple of meetings and realized their new location had quietly opened and that I hadn't tried it yet! I went on a weekday around lunch time and there was probably only a handful of people that came and went during my couple hour stay. Serving style is definitely more casual than at their bar location, with the food (even for dine in) being served in to-go packaging. I went with their beef pho and an order of spring rolls. Their pho always hits the spot for me, but at the cafe the noodles were definitely more on the mushy side. The broth could've been hotter as well (maybe because of the plastic packaging?) The spring rolls were the same quality as I've had before which was good! The pho, even though not as stellar as I've had from them in the past, still hit the spot on a cold afternoon. I'm not in the area of Tacoma too often, but definitely would come back for more remote working sessions + lunch if I were. read more

Love this location and their food. It's a wonderful family friendly location in 'downtown Parkland' within walking distance to PLU; filled with live and well loved plants. Their Bahn Mi's are loaded with veggies and stuffed full with that amazing sweetly marinated pork. I have eaten here several times since they opened. Twice in the last 2 weeks, I attempted to eat here shortly after opening at 11am. While I understand this location offers a stripped down version of the menu from their other two locations Both times they did not have the broth ready for the soup, and yesterday they were also out of egg rolls... We were almost hesitant about coming in because we couldn't tell if they were open since this place opened recently from what it looks like. We ordered the spring rolls with shrimp and pork to share between us. Then, we each got our own grilled chicken rice bowl. My sister also ordered a Thai iced tea. Overall, the food was good. I thought it was interesting that the rice bowl was served with kimchi since that isn't traditionally a Vietnamese side dish. We were staying in Lakewood and needed a good spot to go for lunch that had outdoor seating for Gino the dog. Was happy to find this great Vietnamese spot with one of the best Tofu Bahn Mi's I've ever had!! The tofu was unbelievably flavorful and all the ingredients were super fresh. Husband got the grilled pork and a Vietnamese coffee, both of which were excellent. Staff was very kind and friendly, immediately felt welcomed. It's a casual spot, great for lunch. The young man who took our order suggested the pork over the chicken, and we are so glad we choose to go with that recommendation! I so wanted to love this place but we were so disappointed. The chicken pho was okay. The grilled chicken and rice was not at all what I expected. Chicken was not grilled-it was steamed I think. Flavor was just okay. Everything was microwaved or air fried maybe but not fresh except for the veggies. The restaurant was very nice and the ambiance excellent. Finally got the chance to stop in and check out the newest addition to the neighborhood. I really like the vibe of this place and the menu looks pretty good. There are several items I'd like to come back and try, so this place is on my short list of local joints to return to. Prices seem in line with the current trends, a dollar or two higher than I think they should be but welcome to the current times. Wait staff was friendly and welcoming, but could have been a bit faster. The place wasn't very busy, but they only had two people working this day so it's to be understood. It seems like the whole world is understaffed these days, yet everyone is looking for a job, weird. The food was great, I ordered a vermicelli bowl with chicken and enjoyed it. The rice bowls look very good as well. I think my one big complaint here is that everything is served in disposable paper bowls. I'd much prefer a real bowl than adding more waste to the bin, even if it is paper products that do eventually break down. But looking at the space I don't think they even have room for a dishwasher, which is probably what drives that decision. All in all, I'll be coming back soon. read more

This is a nice little neighborhood place, I stopped in for a bahn mi and tried the grilled pork to go and opted in to the egg spring roll (interesting concept I thought). My sandwich was really good loved the seasoning of the pork and the meat was nice and tender. The egg fresh roll was very different and a first for me, while I did enjoy it I thought it was a little spendy for what it was. My food came up super quick and the staff was very friendly. The food, despite not having a full kitchen is better than any Vietnam restaurant that we've tried. Steer away if you care about real Vietnamese food. The setting gives off overpriced burger joint vibes and the food was subpar. They don't offer steak pho which I thought was strange and when I inquired about it they said it would be a five dollar up-charge from the standard bowl. So I went with the only beef pho item they had and they served me my food in a TAKEOUT bowl and served me the toppings on a takeout lid. A bit unprofessional.
