Chicken wings...appetizer.
Andrew Y.

Solid pho joint. Good tasty broth and ingredients. Variety of Vietnamese items if you're not into pho that day. "Fried chicken" is actually fried chicken wings...cooked very nicely and comes with a tasty spicy sauce. Open late...a plus...for one of those nights. Filled with lots of locals when I was there...so they're doing something right. Good price and portions. A bit short handed in terms of staff...so service was a bit slow. Atmosphere was OK...nothing too special beside people having a good time. Worth a try!

#2 Pho (regular size)

Friends recommended this as their only spot for Phon in the neighborhood and when I walked in on a Friday afternoon at 1, I could already tell that it's lots of people's place for pho. Aa soon as I tasted the broth, I knew why. It was so flavorful, impressively funky while also being just a little sweet. So much pho broth tastes watered down or overly mild - seemingly seasoned for palates accustomed to, I don't know? Boring food? I'm not Vietnamese, but I'm pretty confident in saying that Pho is NOT supposed to be boring. So Mama's pho is a super good, super tasty pho broth served with a generous portion of delicious meat (we got the steak and brisket). My only disappointment was that, when I ordered Vietnamese Coffee on a cold rainy day, the waitress brought me iced and then when I requested hot, she brought me a to-go cup with premade coffee. This was confusing because, as I was paying, I saw they have plenty of phin coffee makers on a shelf behind the counter -- and that was the Vietnamese coffee I wanted. So....if you like watching a dark Vietnamese brew slowly drip a your cup of condensed milk, you're going to have to specifically ask for that. Maybe not if you're Vietnamese, but if you are not Vietnamese, i recommend being specific.

First time here, and the staff were attentive and got our food out quickly. It was great to find a pho spot open until midnight. The pho had great flavor, my only complaint was that the chicken was a bit tough. The ambiance was nice overall, and I'd definitely stop by again if I'm in the area!

Egg roll and spring roll

The main perk about this spot is that they are open late and that their prices are probably the lowest in the area. Now the service is non-existent and the quality is definitely not high quality. The spring roll arrives in plastic wrap which I think is off putting but I do appreciate that size and the peanut sauce that comes with it. My boyfriend enjoyed his egg roll. We usually order the combination pho but wanted to try something different this visit and got the Bun Bo Hue. It was actually spicy but there wasn't much meats which was unfortunate. The inside isn't really worth talking about. There is a fish tank but it looks unsanitary. They don't really stock up tables with anything as we saw that our table was out of soup spoons. I asked the waiter for something but he never arrived with it. Additionally, they have a garbage can outside but they insist only customers should use it, which again is odd. Other than that, it's decent but if you are looking for a nice restaurant with good quality food then probably not the best spot. But a spot that hits late night or pho cravings on a rainy Washington weather then this is it for you.

Called around 11pm to no answer. Arrived at 11:30pm having seen that they are open until 12am. Was ready to eat fast or even get takeout. After happily seeing the open sign and plenty of people inside, we walked in. A man abrasively came up and told us they were closed, turning off the light. We were rudely ushered out. Pictured below are the 15+ people inside. I will not be coming back.

We went to Mama's Pho in Lakewood and were seated right away since it wasn't too busy. It's a small, family-run restaurant with a cozy, no-frills vibe. The owners were very kind and welcoming, which made the experience feel warm and personal. I ordered the Bo Kho, chicken fried rice, grilled meat, and egg rolls. The food was okay overall--not anything mind-blowing, but the portions were generous, especially for the affordable prices. If you're in the area and looking for a casual, budget-friendly Vietnamese spot with kind hospitality, it's worth checking out.

Food Fried Chicken and pork have no flavor, but they weren't dry. If you deep it sauce than there is flavor. Service Servers is non existent, never once they checked on us. Ambiance Clean, pretty quite and plain. It's not a bad place to have lunch.

The prices were perfect. Not too high and not too low. It's like a small hidden treasure in a plaza! So glad we found it. we ordered Pho, fresh roll, egg roll and combo fried rice. The seafood in the fried rice included shrimp , scallops and imitation crab along with chicken and steak. The food was flavorful. Very authentic!! Employees were nice and the orders were quick. This would be a top spot to try if in the area! Hit the spot during our trip in Tacoma!

The service is super quick. The broth is my favorite in town and I make a special point to come here. The variety of food here is nice The atmosphere is really relaxed.

Good pho in a strip mall on South Tacoma Way. Came by on a recommendation from a friend & glad we did! It was a perfect cold, rainy day for a nice , hot bowl of pho! The broth was so flavorful, hit the spot! We also ordered tofu fried rice which was also very good, & a Vietnamese iced coffee which was a little on the sweeter side. Will definitely be returning when in the area.

What a disappointment waited a year to vist this place again and this time it was so bad. To start off after we got seated the servers skipped us 3 times serve 3 tables that got there well after us never even offering water to us or acknowledging us. Then when I told the server they skipped us she said " OH IS OK" I really liked their pho the first time I came here a year ago granted I'm from California and I brought my kid to try it, well we ordered 2 chiken pho and 2 fresh rolls and the only reason they got 1 star is for the fresh rolls. But the pho litteraly tasted like water no flavor what so ever! I had to ask for salt to give it some flavor. All the spoons on the table were dirty I mean this was just a horrible experience I will never visit this place again coming 14 hours to eat here and I was extremely disappointed along with my kid.

food was very pleasing for my family. they left the restaurant satisfied with this restaurant recommendation that I pitched after hearing from a friend who was stationed at JBLM to stop by here. my Lola, or grandma, was sold on the egg rolls! She said that it was just as good as lumpia, which is the Filipino equivalency dish. the pricing for food was not bad at all. we ate a lot with a price tag that did not dismay us financially or emotionally. I will note that the egg rolls being $2.50 each seemed excessive, though... loved the waiter as he would balance his lighthearted sense of humor with honest advise on which dish to get when my table was in the middle between two choices. checked in with us a few times, but then he would go on his phone in front of us when there were plates piling on the side of our table, or water cups that were yet to be refilled. poor lighting in the restaurant that made it difficult for my Lola to read the menu. would be nice if the restaurant was more white lighting-based. also makes for nicer pictures. tables also felt squished together, so it was hard for my parents to get out of their chair to go bathroom or leave the restaurant because not enough room to separate each party, unfortunately.

It was my families first time trying Pho in Washington after being in Korea and this place did not dissappoint! Flavor was on point, cleanliness was the best we have seen have a Pho spot. Minus one star for it being a bit pricey.

The food is very proportional and delicious. The service is very good and alert. The mood setting is very dim, not to bright.

Wasn't feeling great about my decision after we had already ordered. The apple salad was very fishy. A little fish sauce goes a long way. It wasn't delicious. The shaken beef was okay, not great. Same for the beef rib pho. The vermicelli with pork and shrimp was the best dish we ordered and it wasn't anything mind blowing. Glad we had come for lunch and not dinner.

YESSS!! This is THE place for Vietnamese food! They are indeed authentic!…read more I have been missing the smell and taste of staple Vietnamese dishes ever since I moved out of California a few months ago. I used to receive Mom's vietnamese home cooking frequently and I lived near the Asian hubbubs with easy access to all the cuisine, but now I have to discover new places here in Washington to satiate my taste buds. Everything I've tried so far has been good. I've been content. But here!! I ordered takeout through Doordash, and as soon as I picked up my food, an aroma of so many flavors filled up my car. Parking is kinda annoying since it's on the street but I arrived within 30 mins of opening hours so it wasn't terrible yet. The restaurant already had at least a table or so, with customers, so I wouldn't be surprised if it got busier later. There's a fair amount of space and tables for hungry stomachs! The food was about ready by the time I arrived, and the 30 min drive home left me feeling famished and ready to dig in. Thankfully, I was not disappointed. Everything was packaged well so that nothing spilled during the car ride, and everything was so yummy! I ordered more than I originally intended... I was craving com tam (broken rice) and couldn't find a satisfactory place near my residence, so I drove all the way here to Tacoma.. and then I figured, I might as well order their Banh Xeo too! The photos online made it look so good, and it ended up tasting amazing! Slightly crispy and stuffed just enough with bean sprouts, meat, and other goodies. Perfect after drizzling some of the sauce over it. The Com Tam was also made well, and definitely hit my cravings with its classic ingredients. I ordered a Large Pho Bo Vien (meatball) for my son, and was sooo tempted to eat some myself. The broth smelled fresh and the noodles were cooked nicely. Decent portions for everything, too. I definitely need to return to try out more of their food. So far, it has made me one happy Viet gal :)
