My friend asked for resposado in our first round, great! Next round, I asked for blanco which was also great Until, I found out they had well blanco. I was upsold for no reason. Espolon isn't a blanco tequila I prefer so I wish I could have known about ALL blanco options when I asked for blanco. He just wanted to charge the $1 more. Which is literally only a dollar?! When I asked why he didn't tell me about all their blanco tequila options, I was told "when someone asks for blanco, they mean top shelf" HUH?? He then told us he didn't care. Friends had warned me about this place but I like to find out for myself. Looking at the reviews, there were other warnings. The service here is awful for no reason. As a bartender myself, I hope no customer I serve has the experience I had here at my bar. The place is pleasantly roomy with an artistic mural on the wall. This is a chill and hang out bar, not a sports bar. We scored a table by the window and ordered our food at the bar. They bring the food to us. Service was simple and courteous. The staff is surprisingly chill and having fun with each other. Good for them! Parking is street only. The Food: Lumpia Shanghai, 5 pcs, $10 - 4 Stars Theirs is a simpler content with seemingly pork only. Traditional recipes often have water chestnut so I can taste a hint of crunch. The meat must have shrunken from the ends, so the two ends are wrap only. Not an ideal lumpia shanghai but satisfying if one is craving for it. We though the price was very reasonable. Lugaw, $18 - 2 Stars Menu: Rice porridge with egg and calamansi This dish is puzzling. We are familiar with arroz caldo, the Filipino chicken rice porridge. I knew this won't be flavored with chicken. I expected more flavor, period. The calamansi was far too subtle. The black garlic and the fried shallots weren't enough to flavor the rice. The vibes of this little wine dive bar are great! I came into this place after a night out in cap hill for a night cap and it was a wonderful way to end the night! It is a small and intimate bar, but great for chatting with friends at the end of a night. I got the jack rose slushie and their seasoned goldfish crackers. The jack rose slushie was tasty, but very strong if you enjoy stronger drinks. The prices were reasonable here too. La Dive is a great place to go for wine and food. The service is friendly and as other reviews noted, it has great vibes. The wine list is not long, but excellent. I had three different reds and they were all outstanding. My friend tried a rose and also an orange wine. The rose looked like a red, but was really good and then the orange wine was a surprise. We were really pleased with the food also. We started with the farmers cheese and herbs. Very simple, but very nice. Cheese matched wine very well. We also had the crispy spiced beef pancake. I am not sure how to describe this, but it was really tasted. It is definitely a crisp, flaky crust with the beef on the inside very nicely flavored. Then I had the patty melt while my friend had a kielbasa sandwich. The patty melt was also excellent--burger could have been cooked a little less for my preference, but great flavors and loved the rye. Then my friend absolutely loved the kielbasa, her favorite. Everything we ate here was fantastic, definitely a more refined bar experience, with fancier food options, with a price tag to match. I would highly recommend going during happy hour, you get a few bucks off cocktails and their house chambong is half off. You cannot skip the chambong, chambong and la dive go hand in hand!!! Went in today and was delightfully greeted with a free christmas photobooth as part of a wine pop up~ was also delighted with expanded slushie menu and holiday special cocktails! You can never go wrong with La Dive's options, service and ambiance (including their red light bathroom). I love the way they curate their food menu regularly to keep it interesting (like when they had nongshim shin ramen cup). Today i tried their pancetta and mushroom gnocci however, while the gnocci pieces were great with a little char, the overall dish was extremely dry! The mushroom and pancetta had lost all its moisture, chewing them was like chewing on a ribbon and tough to my teeth. Thankfully the water chestnut pieces helped balance out the rest of the dish by 10%. Im not sure if it was an off day but if the quality persists, unfortunately i would never get another gnocchi from here again! read more

I've been to La Dive in Capitol Hill twice now, and unfortunately both visits felt unwelcoming. As a Black customer, I left both times feeling dismissed and disrespected. On my most recent visit, the bartender was openly rude from the start--yelling "look at the menu" and "I ain't going to hold your hand" whenever anyone in my group asked a question. This wasn't just directed at us; I noticed the same dismissive behavior toward other groups that night. What made it worse was how much the service seemed based on appearances and who "looked" like they belonged, rather than providing respect to all patrons. That exclusionary vibe was hard to ignore. Everyone deserves to be treated with basic respect, regardless of background or appearance. My coworker recommended this place to me and wow, I am impressed. There are so many things to choose from but only so much alcohol tolerance, as he recommended the slushie and the pet nat, and I also saw a relatively unique drink that is the chambong that I also wanted to get. I settled for the slushie this time, as I heard it is very strong. It is strong enough to get a standard person tipsy, for only $12 + tax/tip, which is much cheaper than a standard cocktail that one may need more than one. I got the frozen pool party specifically (vinho verde, white rum, lime). The slushie is somewhat sweet but is very spiked as it is bitter - your mileage may vary with how you enjoy it. It is somewhat simplistic but value is great if you are aiming to get a little drunk for the night. This is definitely bar-like as you simply order at the front and seat yourself, rather than a host(ess) seat you in despite the fact there is table seating. It has been a while since I have been to these types of bars in Capitol Hill! Next time I will definitely try the chambongs and then pet nat as it looks pretty and a lot of fun. read more

The bartender's demeanor was notably indifferent. - There were three champagnes listed in the menu, but all were priced by glass. I inquired about the champagne prices per bottle. - The bartender pointed to the fridge and simply said, "Go take a look." - For convenience, I asked which bottle was the least expensive. - The bartender showed me a bottle and handed it over. Given the late night, and my limited knowledge of non-mainstream champagne brands, I didn't scrutinize it closely. - The bottle was opened, but we discovered it was orange wine, not champagne. - When we returned the bottle, the bartender responded dismissively, stating, "I showed you the bottle; you asked for the cheapest, and this is it. There's nothing we can do." Granted that we did have the chance to look at the bottle, we ended up paying for both the bottle of orange wine as well as champagne, but there was no effort or apology to even acknowledge a mistake by the bartender, and the attitude was completely dismissive. read more

Finally stopped into their physical location after so many nice wine deliveries during the pandemic. Enjoyed the heck out of the food. We had the shrimp chips, cauliflower, potato dumplings and the cheese and crackers. Definitely get the cauliflower and dumplings. I believe it was some sort of Cava (which I normally don't care for) but this option was decent. LOVE the coupe glass it was served in. I don't know how things normally work here but we had to order at the bar then bring the drinks back to our booth. Yes vaccination cards were checked of course. The interior is medium-small in size and is slightly nicer than your average Seattle dive. Ha. The bathroom is trippy, in a cool way, so check it out, even if you don't need to pee! Talk about selfie material. I think I counted about 8 men with beanies around the bar--are we surprised though??
