We have passed it a.number of times and they do not do reservations online. The olde fashion way of calling. :-). We decided to bring my mother in law and her boy friend. The space is nice. Bar seating, small tables and intimate dining. Just very comfortable. They had a couple of larger groups coming in after we were seated and the server wanted to make sure that we got our orders in before the larger groups, which was nice, but we ended up finishing our meals in less than 40 minutes. So a little rushed. But in all the food was good and the evening was a success. No doubt a return visit is in the future. Street parking is available and the city does ticket up to 8:00pm.

Several things to cover here in our first experience with La Dolce Vita. Our server was obviously new to being a server. Key points got missed like making a round with a pepper grinder and/or Parmesan. While he made a very serious effort to do a great job a few things fell short. While we saw multiple five star reviews, with what it seems like they are trying to achieve as an atmosphere it seems a bit off of that. If you are a restaurant that is bold enough to not have salt and pepper on the table then you need to make sure the flavors are what they should be using the menu as a template for what your serving. An example is if you say a dish has a Sage Cream sauce then maybe use some sage? A cream sauce with a very dull hint of sage is not that. While we thoroughly enjoyed everything we ate this isn't a five star review for a restaurant that should be hitting every point in every area. For what we were charged for a full dinner we were underwhelmed. While we say this most everyone will really enjoy the food here.

Visiting around Dover for 2 weeks. Best dining restaurant experience in this time. Food was tasty delightful and surprising. Strongly recommend. You won't be disappointed.

The atmosphere here is quite pleasant, but the food is mediocre. We've dined here twice now, and I'm growing increasingly unimpressed. Most of the dishes we ordered were either bland or simply not up to par. The service is generally good, and their charcuterie board is quite impressive, but I've been disappointed with my pasta choices. The chicken piccata was particularly disappointing--it was bland and watery. I was hoping to find a solid Italian restaurant in Dover, but unfortunately, there's nothing truly exceptional in the area that I can really recommend.

Great Italian in Dover!! Nice interior with amazing acoustics. It's nice to hear my date! Staff was pleasant and attentive. Food was great! Gnocchi was large and the veal saltimboca was too. Wish the food was a little warmer when served and if the pasta was homemade - look out! Bread and oil was a real nice touch. Deserts were tasty.

My new favorite restaurant! We had been wanting to try this place for quite a while and finally made it for our anniversary this year. We were blown away by the amazing experience right in the town next to us. I had noticed before on the menu that it said you had to call to make a reservation. When we decided to go here it was kind of a last-minute decision. I was looking up the website on my phone and saw the option for Google Reserve, which worked perfectly. I was even able to modify the reservation without issue to a little bit later, when we were running behind schedule. There is no parking lot; parking is metered on the downtown streets, or in the public parking lot on the next block. The space is small but so elegant. You could dress up like we did, but we also saw casual families with kids and people of all ages. They had many different types of seating, from high top to banquet to tables of all different sizes and combinations. There is an elegant bar with a large TV with no/low sound showing National Geographic. We were amazed that with all the people in the room it was incredibly quiet and it was easy to have a conversation, which has not been the case it some other nice restaurants we dined at recently. The wine list is enormous. The sangria on the cocktail menu was a seasonal fall one, but when I asked if they could do a regular red sangria that was not on the menu they happily complied and it was fantastic. My husband also enjoyed his old fashioned with giant ice cube. We were served complimentary bread with olive oil that had yummy garlic, rosemary, and red pepper flakes. Everything on the menu sounded so good it was hard to decide on an entree. I usually get lobster ravioli but decided to go with the shrimp Florentine instead. It was deliciously tangy with lemon and artichoke. My husband was blown away by the enormous serving of short ribs, with a delicious potato au gratin and crisp green beans. Prices were completely reasonable for the the quality and size of the meals. We were so full that we weren't able to order dessert. However, when we were leaving we passed several desserts being served and were sad that we had not been able to try them that night! Every single staff member was pleasant and attentive. The bathroom was beautifully decorated. I'm counting the days until we go back so I can try more items on the menu!

The food, I ordered the tonkotsu ( pork bone broth Ramen) was absolutely delicious. The ramen were firm, a bit chewy in a good way, the vegetables were crisp, the pork belly was decadent. The service is consistently friendly and attentive, and the menu pairs perfectly with the excellent house cocktails from their full bar. The ramen bowls remain the highlight. The Spicy Tonkatsu Ramen, especially, is outstanding: a rich, deeply flavorful broth, tender pork, and that comforting warmth that hits the spot on a cold New Hampshire day. The Bao Bao buns are a great way to start the meal, and the Takoyaki--light, crispy spheres filled with diced octopus and drizzled with savory sauces--adds a fun, flavorful twist to the appetizer lineup. On our latest visit, we tried the Okdol Bibimbap. The presentation was appealing and the flavors were solid, but the dish leaned a bit too heavily on the rice compared to the protein and vegetables. A slightly more generous balance of toppings would bring it right up to the level of their other standouts. Even so, this place continues to impress, and I'm already looking forward to coming back and exploring more of the menu on my next visit.

Sue and the bar tender, Jeremiah, however, huddled over the custom drink menu with him explaining several of the drinks Sue asked about. After listening to her carefully describe her taste preferences, he finally suggested a custom Woodford bourbon with lemon juice, amaro, and aperol. Yeah, I don't know what any of that is, but she loved it! And we couldn't pass up on one of the appetizers we saw: Crispy Brussels Caesar Salad, which was described as "crispy Brussels sprouts, house made Caesar dressing, Parmesan, croutons." Well, we just had to have that for sure! But because that would all be too much food, Jeremiah suggested ordering the burger and the salad and he'd split both up for us. Terrific! And honestly -- the pizza is still some of the best on the Seacoast. That crust is unreal. Back when Patrick was managing, the vibe was incredible. He made a point to connect with people, let us sample new beers on tap, and made the place feel like a neighborhood hangout you actually wanted to support. Since the management change, though, the experience has taken a real nosedive. The current manager is frequently outside chain-smoking on the front patio, tossing cigarette butts on the ground, then walking straight back inside to serve tables without washing his hands. On one visit, he brought my food to the table absolutely reeking of cigarettes -- which completely killed my appetite. Service is hit or miss now. The one consistent bright spot is Jade at the bar -- she's fantastic and the only person we reliably get great service from. We also really miss Thursday Bingo. It used to be a fun excuse to make a special trip just for dinner and a game. It's such a bummer because this place used to be a favorite. The food is still excellent, but the leadership, cleanliness, and overall experience need serious attention.

I always feel so much better after visiting Stalk-it's a light in the darkness, when things feel so…read moredark that you feel swallowed up by it. A cook, myself, I've been held prisoner in jobs that make one feel discouraged due to indifference and laxity. Eating here, taking in the pride of craft and respect for the clientele makes me realise that places -and people-do exist that truly care about about the customer and strive to make them forget their lives outside the comforting walls of this restaurant. We shared a couple of apps: a crispy-skin chicken leg, indeed crispy and as usual, perfectly cooked, as usual. there are few greater pleasures in life like chicken that is juicy and cooked with an expert hand. It came with excellent ricotta mashed potatoes so good my daughter-who normally refuses to eat mashed potato-had to be fended off with my fork so Dad could swipe a couple forkfuls! The dark, flavorful sauce complimented both the meat and the potatoes. We also got the charred Halloumi cheese with pork belly with sweet and sour grapes and a whiff of finely chopped sage, again having to fend off my daughter for my portion...I was detecting a trend here... For the main courses, my wife got the Black Cod with nicely browned fingerling potatoes and braised cabbage/asparagus. She rarely ate unbreaded fish until Stalk introduced her to exquisitely cooked and seasoned fish filets. My daughter got the mushroom and eggplant kofta with a superb cashew hummus and grilled pita that was cooked with love-grilled enough to get grill marks, but not so long as to cook the life out it-they were still soft and fluffy, with just enough crisp to make scooping the hummus practicable. I got, against my usual practice of eating through the menu (as much as possible during a recipe cycle) to get the Sweet Potato Cavatelli-this is one of those dishes that I could never get often enough. the pasta dishes here are unfailingly excellent, with little culinary surprises in every one-this one, for me, in a dish with sausage AND pork belly no less, the unifying surprise is the Balsamic black butter! It just made every bite taste,,,right, perfectly complimenting the dish and making a delightfully whole flavour profile that one would not, perhaps, expect at a first blush. Taken with the Almond Romesco, it gave a slightly sweet, acidic depth that woke and gratified my palate. Again, as a cook, I appreciate the care and consideration on display that a dish such as this displays. It makes me happy... Our desserts, sadly a harbinger of the meals' approaching end, left us with a nice parting glow-the Coconut Rice pudding-with a mango compote, ginger candied cashews and flashy cherry crisps was nice, light finisher, as was the, wait for it, English pea Mojito ice cream. This follows the Mad Scientist-esque genius of Stalk's ice creams. The unbridled exuberance on display with the ice cream flavours, always makes me lean towards the ice creams over many other fine and tempting desserts...this was no exception. The peas provided a subtle pea flavor, the chill mellowing the flavor we typically associate with peas, but not losing it, is worth a victory lap on its own. The zest of lime and a nicely chiffonaded mint layered on the finishing touches without overtaking the finish, a sign of the practiced hands at work. I also must make mention of the French Press coffee service, there is truly no better way to take your coffee than via a French Press, it is so very nice to indulge in this simple life pleasure outside of my own kitchen... I would be terribly remiss if I didn't give a shout out to the staff-from the exceedingly professional and courteous staff, to the bartender who was very engaging and free with her smiles all night, the professionals preparing our dinner, who deserve much credit for turning Chefs' vision into delicious and intruiging plates of food for all of us to enjoy, and finally to Chef Nicole, who is everywhere making sure everything is running as smooth as possible, yet taking the time to chat with the patrons whenever possible. Our trips to Stalk are almost a pilgrimage-a reminder that cooking can be a joy, and that striving for that goal of making the diner perhaps, through the care and excellence of the food and its preparation, make them forget the nonsense outside the walls of the restaurant for even just an hour or so. This a lofty and noble goal, and one, for this diner, is always met. I hope it is for you, as well

We had had a great server who paced our dishes perfectly. There are multiple ways to approach dinner here as they offer a variety of small and large plates. We chose a couple of small plates to start and sample, followed by an entree each. Plenty of food as the portions were generous. We ended up taking home part of each entree for lunch the next day. I tried the Huli Huli chicken buns, hoping for a little bit of Hawaii flavor, and these were delicious. They are priced individually so you can order as many as you like. I thought one was a reasonable appetizer portion. Unfortunately, the Cavatelli was sold out, but they offered another delicious pasta in it's place. I had the Plum Char Sui Pork, again a generous portion of melt in your mouth pork. Lots of that delicious five spice flavor, which hit all the right notes. Perhaps a bit too much of the sauce for me, but this was a delicious plate and I thought reasonably priced as compared to many other restaurants lately. I can see why this chef has gotten a James Beard nod, and a great spot to enjoy when in Dover
