I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? LOL This place was absolutely amazing and I can't wait to try it again.

Another new item is a pork rib dish simmered in the most lucious and wonderfully flavored sauce. Just spicy enough and made with love. You'll be dipping tortillas to get every drop of this great sauce that has been simmering and just waiting to hit your taste buds. A special menu, I hope it gets incorporated into an everyday offering. Always great service.

The chips and salsa were good and seemed really fresh. I loved my lunch chimichanga ($13), the best I have had in a while. The vegetarian tacos ($15) were okay, they were definitely messy to eat and needed more salt but the salsa verde helped. The refried beans were good, more flavorful than the normal beans you seem to get everywhere else. Aside from the lunch specials their prices look a little higher than your typical Mexican place but if ingredients are fresh and a step up in quality, I don't mind too much. Street tacos also looked good and things you cant get everywhere (Suadero anyone?) so I will probably be heading back to try those and a margarita flight.

Whenever we asked someone to recommend somewhere to eat, they invariably would say La Bodeguita. I…read moream not exaggerating, every single person. We were leaving for the second leg of our trip and were running late, as usual. We decided to run across the street for a sit down lunch, what's another hour? Two smiling faces greeted us at the door. They offered a high top but my hip was absolutely not digging it nor a table up the flight of steep stairs. Once seated, we were greeted promptly and had water in front of us almost immediately. We each ordered soup and then a sandwich to share. I had the Sopa de Pollo . A hot bowl thick with thin noodles and lots of chunks of chicken. The chunks were too big to eat without being cut up which was a challenge in a bowl of broth. It was so hot that I had to wait a while to try it and even then had to blow on it. It was delicious. Unless the soup is your meal, order a cup. I still took nearly a pint of soup back with me. My husband ordered the Frijole Negro - a huge bowl of black beans that was served with a large pile of raw onions on top. Like the chicken soup, it was burn your mouth hot and a very large serving. He said it was good but he'd not order it again. Moving on to the sandwich. We had the Cubano. I'm not even going to describe it - just trust me - order the Cubano. Do not look at the rest of the menu - order the Cubano. Don't even bother looking at the ingredients, just order the Cubano. Have you ordered it yet? Do it already. The Cubano is huge. We split one half and had the other when we arrived at our next stop. Do consider that we had soup first; otherwise, we'd have eaten the whole thing. The accompanying plantain chips were worthy of their own review. They were wonderful. Who knows if and when we'll be back to Louisville but when we are, La Bodeguita will be the first place we stop. BTW, have you ordered the Cubano yet? What are you waiting for? Put your phone done and order it! Enjoy!!

The food is excellent, menu extensive with traditional Mexican food, a select assortment of Peruvian food during the week, with specials on the weekend. The bar was well stocked, the drink menu filled with clever & delicious cocktails, beers, distilled beverages. The waitress was friendly & attentive. I had ordered the Peruvian ribs and they were mediocre. There wasn't much flavor & just tasted a bit overcooked yet warm. The rice was delicious, loved it very much & the French fries seemed homemade & very crispy delicious!! My partner unfortunately didn't enjoy his Peruvian chicken & it was quite rubbery & flavorless. I had requested a spicy sauce on the side for my ribs & I was confused what I was eating it was homemade & yellow cream color yet it was just too spicy to even enjoy!! It seems like a wonderful place for Americanized Mexican food, so I'll need to come back to try that but as for Peruvian I'm quite disappointed:/
