I visited Veronica's for the first time last Wednesday night and now I know what the hype is all about! I had been wanting to go for quite some time to try the Birria because I heard it is so amazing, and it really lived up to the Hype! Oh, did I mention they have the viral soft serve margaritas!?!?! I got the strawberry, it was so pretty, excellent presentation and absolutely delicious! I will say it was more like a dessert to me and I would have preferred to have it after my meal instead if before but that's just me. We got there between 6:30 and 7:00 and it was really busy, luckily our friends got there first and grabbed a table. They had already had a round of drinks while waiting on us but it took a while for anyone to come over to greet us or refill their drinks but again it was busy and everyone was helping everyone. We ended up splitting the birria platter and still had plenty of food to take home which we just ate last night as leftovers and were still absolutely fire!! I think the egg roll and quesadillas were my favorite over the tacos bc I love the melty cheese. I also ordered a small side of queso which was surprisingly a little spicy which I really enjoyed. They even surprised us when my BIL ordered a small margarita and it came out in a fish glass (see photo). It was so unexpected but also so cute at the same time ... it's really the little things like this that bring joy, okay? My daughters and I visited the Poplar Level Road location on Sunday. The food was delicious and the service was excellent. The atmosphere was very pleasant. We did not try any of the alcoholic beverages, but my oldest has been to another Veronica's and highly recommended them. 10/10 we will return! read more

Listen to the hype, Veronica's is delicious. We went on a Saturday and it was packed. The bar is first come first serve and we were able to snag a seat. Atmosphere was lively and there was a singer keeping the vibes high. I heard about the birria platter and knew I wanted to try it. It comes with 2 birria egg rolls, a birria quesadilla, and birria tacos, and of course consume. Definitely big enough to share with 2-4 people and so delicious! I loved the birria egg rolls most and will get them again next time. Chicken cheese and rice was delicious as well and the chips and salsa were fresh and spicy! The service was a little slow, but polite, pleasant, and friendly. I think it was only two guys working the front. We got the Birria platter, it came with two egg rolls, a pizza and five tacos. I had high expectations for this place after seeing the line out of the door one night. We came back for lunch and I just wasn't as blown away as I thought. This place has a reputation for their unique birria dishes, so we ordered the platter to sample them all. Unfortunately I think the birria is overdone and lacks flavor in order for them to pump out all these unique dishes. Its tastes rushed and if you've had Taco City Birria you'll know what I'm talking about. I think the eggroll tastes the best. I've heard such amazing stuff about this place for so long, today I finally tried it! This is easily the best Mexican food in the city. Everything is full of flavor and has its own uniqueness to it that is truly delicious. We tried the birria quesadilla, chicken fajita, queso, salsa, and of course the sides. This was our first time visiting this place. We didn't realize the day we went it was margarita day. They were discounting their margaritas which attracted too many people. Luckily someone got impatient and gave me their pager. Our waitress, May, was wonderful and did a wonderful job. We got the nachos and it was packed with their birria meat along with the cheese and veggies. We got 2 birria platters. Each platter consist of 5 tacos, 2 cylindrical looking burritos, and a Mexican pizza. Their burria meat is so delicious!!! They give military discount. Next time I'll try their fajitas. Another new favorite place. I almost forgot their singer did a great job. You can tell he was a seasoned entertainer. Will return. I forgot to mention their tres Leche cake. It was good. Veronica's has been on our list & we finally went & it did not disappoint! We went on Wednesday around 4:30pm. Parking was very convenient. We were seated as soon as we walked in. The restaurant was very clean & bright. Our waiter was also one of the bartenders. He was super nice & helped us narrow down our entree options. Each table gets complimentary chips & salsa. The salsa was fresh & delicious. For entrees we ordered the chori pollo & the quesabirria tacos (2 chicken, 1 pork). The birria tacos were delicious as well as the consome. But the chori pollo was my favorite. After my first bite of chori pollo I said I was going to get it again the next time we eat there. Loved this place. Literally found this place on yelp, suggested it to my friend and she actually had been here before and loved it! Everything was great! We ordered margaritas, queso, and I had a burrito. It was delicious! I actually saved this yelp page on my places to visit when I'm back in Louisville. Our server wasn't the best but there was another young man who was quick in picking up his slack. We never even asked him for some things he just saw a need and filled it! They also got my friend's plate mixed up with the next table over. They had sat it down, and brought us theirs and then tried to switch them. Since Covid I have been more aware of things like this because you really don't want everyone breathing all over and touching your food. We did have to ask them to get her a fresh plate. This was the plate with beans and rice on it. So I assume it's not something they make to order. Overall, I will be back! Honestly this is a perfect happy hour spot. Came for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon (~3:15 p.m.). It's located in a strip mall in an area that seems sketchy but don't let that fool you. It's pretty authentic Mexican. The chips and salsa were fresh. The chips, light and crispy and not at all greasy. The salsa had a great flavor to it. Not the chunky tomato salsa that's common in many restaurants. The margaritas are excellent! Not overly sweet with mixers. Reminds me of the fresh ones I would make at home with fresh squeezed lime juice and Cointreau. Also, they're very nicely sized. I ordered the carne asada. My only guess is that I got a bad cut (even though there were three distinct pieces). It was without a doubt the toughest piece of meat I have ever had. That is saying a lot considering that it's basically a skirt steak or more specifically, only a few mm thick. My friend had the Mexican pizza which is basically a quesadilla on steroids. He enjoyed his meal and only finished 40% of it due to how much meat was inside. Our server was on it and brought us our second serving of chips and salsa before we had finished the first. I will say it's authentic and the service was great. Just disappointed with my specific entree. If I return, I would try something else. The margaritas alone would be worthwhile. read more

The restaurant is located in a small shopping center on Poplar Level. The employees were extremely friendly and we were seated immediately. The menu is simple and filled with birria options including egg rolls, pizza, tacos. It also includes regular favorites like quesadillas, burritos, fajitas, and more. We ordered the birria platter, which includes tacos, pizza, egg rolls and stuffed pepper with consummate sauce. Do yourself a favor and ask for the hot sauce - the red one is literally fire. I was on a date at this restaurant and when we asked for a check, instead of just asking if we wanted to split the bill, he positioned himself right behind my date and mouthed me the question so we wouldn't have to split the check. This is the first time a server has not only realized that I was on a date, but actively worked with me to make sure it went as smooth as possible. This place is nothing much to look like on the outside as it's in a bit of a rundown strip mall. But inside is cozy and bright and nicely decorated. My husband and I started with the chips and salsa, of course, which were good. The menu is much smaller than I'm used to and focuses on all sorts of birria dishes. Unfortunately, I don't like cilantro and since that is an integral part of birria, I wasn't going to ask them to remove it. It is a midsize place that was packed when I arrived to pick up my pick up take out order. The bar and all the table were occupied. It took an hour to get my food after I arrived. That was the only downside here. Ordered the Briarra noodles and tacos with the sauces was spicy and delicious. Ate some the food the next day and it still kept the flavor. There is some language barrier had to write downy order for them to check it. I asked one of customers if he liked it here and he is a regular that loves the place. I can't wait my hope is it will be closer to our side of town around shelbyville and Hurstbourne area. They also have live music. Super disappointing. I'd share pics of our food had we gotten it. We visited on a Saturday and were happy to get a table for 4. This divey space is smaller than I'd predicted and a large party was taking up 20+ seats. The parking lot is shared by several other businesses. We spent 40+ minutes snacking on chips and salsa while watching other tables get their food, including those that sat down 15-30 minutes after us. We asked our server 3x about our meals and each time were assumed they were coming. The truth was our order was long forgotten. Left without dinner. Side note. This spot is known for birra. A full page of options. The ventilation must be weak because we reeked of the restaurant upon getting home, including items in my purse. Thankfully we weren't going anywhere but home. This place is so good I had to bring my brother. We split the birria platter and still had food to take home. The only consequential update I have is that this place is now PACKED! Rightfully so.
