Very good restaurant. We went for lunch, only one other table when we arrived so our food came out incredibly quickly!! The hostess was nice as was our waiter. The chips and salsa were good and seemed really fresh. I loved my lunch chimichanga ($13), the best I have had in a while. The vegetarian tacos ($15) were okay, they were definitely messy to eat and needed more salt but the salsa verde helped. The refried beans were good, more flavorful than the normal beans you seem to get everywhere else. Aside from the lunch specials their prices look a little higher than your typical Mexican place but if ingredients are fresh and a step up in quality, I don't mind too much. Street tacos also looked good and things you cant get everywhere (Suadero anyone?) so I will probably be heading back to try those and a margarita flight. read more

My friend and I could have split a double as she also had about 1/2 her meal to take as left overs. We both had to ask for more flour shells, which they charged $1 each for. Another new item is a pork rib dish simmered in the most lucious and wonderfully flavored sauce. Just spicy enough and made with love. Went to Limon y Sal for the first time on Memorial Day for lunch and got seated with no wait. Our server came, was super friendly, and our took drink orders. When he returned we were ready to order food. I ordered the enchiladas de camarones (shrimp enchiladas), and I ordered my son the grilled chicken and cheesy rice kid's meal. The shrimp were described as being "cooked with tomatoes, which was fine... until my plate came out and I started cutting into them. The entire enchiladas were nothing but tomatoes with a couple chunks of shrimp in each one. I say chunks, meaning one shrimp cut into 3-4 pieces. Between my 3 enchiladas, there were roughly 4 total shrimp altogether, the rest just giant slices of tomato. It was unbelievable and so disappointing, especially for $15. We stopped in to the St Matthew's location for brunch today and it did not disappoint! The highlight for me was the mimosa flight I was expecting smaller cups, but to my surprise it was 4 regular sized mimosas! I had pancakes and a side of bacon which were all delicious as well. My kids were terrified during lunch when a crazy guy walked in an approached us asking weird questions and then tried giving his number to the hostess . I asked for the manager who did nothing. We were really excited to try it based on the reviews, but we were disappointed. The service was great, so no issues there at all. Everyone was friendly and service was very quick. The food was just okay. The salsa was very bland - more like a tomato sauce than salsa. The queso was good - that was probably the highlight for us. I was so excited to try the mole, but it was very bitter and coffee forward, which I did not care for. The chicken was good though. My daughter ordered a taco salad and it was mostly sour cream and guacamole with very little lettuce (shredded) and some ground beef. She may have eaten two bites - it was very soupy. We were driving back from a long road trip, and Limón y Sal had been on my list to try for a while, given the glowing reviews I've seen posted for it. We're normally quite a ways away from it, but it was on the way back home for us, and we were starving so we tried it. We decided to start out a little wild and order a whole pitcher of frozen Margarita for the two of us. I'm not a Margarita person, but the price was very reasonable for the whole pitcher. The margarita was delicious, and was by far the star of the meal. We then ordered some mixed fajitas for two. There were pretty underwhelming. However, I was very happy with the portion size. I made sure to eat the seafood first as that doesn't usually keep well, and we took home a good amount of leftovers. The ambiance is pretty casual, and the service was good, no complaints there. There's just so many better options for Mexican food. I understand they likely mostly cater to the clientele in the area, but I am very nitpicky with very high standards for Mexican food! Full of flavor and in a convenient location, Limón y Sal may easily become one of your new favorite Mexican restaurants. On a recent visit to Louisville, we got in late, but took full advantage of grandparents willing to watch the sleeping munchkin. I am always in the mood for a good Mexican meal, and I saw Limón y Sal pop right up on my Yelp search. Done and done. We were seated immediately and both started with their house Margarita. If you're a Margarita fan, you don't want to miss theirs! We used it to wash down the endless chips and salsa that appeared at our table before our meal arrived. I went with the taco salad with ground beef; it's a mind trick - salad sounds healthy, but I'm sure with all the toppings I should probably let just spring for a burrito. In any case, it was quite tasty, and I had no problem polishing it off. Service was so-so. The staff seemed stretched a bit thin and sometimes we had trouble flagging down our server (particularly when they brought the wrong meal for my husband). Still, they were friendly and made the meal right when we pointed out the issue, so we were overall pleased. I'll look forward to visiting again on my next trip to the 'ville! read more

NEVER AGAIN! This used to be a go to place for us but we will never return. Asked for printed menu and were told that all they had was a qr code to use the phone while other tables around us had menus. Ordered an unsweet tea with no ice. Waiter brings with ice. My wife ordered tacos and a margarita flight. They margaritas came out after she had halfway eaten her tacos. It should have been there before the food. Let's start with THIS PLACE IS SO GOOD!!! Our waiter was very attentive and was on top of it. Everyone that worked there helped out as much as they could. They got people served fast as well. When you get there, they automatically put down chips and salsa. We devoured those. The hot salsa was actually hot which was surprising. I got the margarita flights- mango, blood orange, peach and strawberry. Heads up: They were heavy on the tequila, which I loved, but I needed more food on my stomach. The flavors were perfect and delicious. I got the Mexican bowl that had chicken, shrimp and steak in it. All my fav proteins. I found out about this dish from the website. There was an amazing picture posted of it so had to get it. It was definitely mostly meat. There was some rice at the bottom but not a lot. I got mine with no onions and no mushrooms.
