    a blue birthday cake

Worst place ever! They never answer the phone when you call and the staff are useless and unhelpful! I ordered a custom cake and asked for it to be white and black. I confirmed that it wouldn't be the Tiffany blue like the sample and the woman confirmed that she would make it white. I sent my son to pick up the cake and he immediately sent me photos and called me concerned because it didn't seem right to him. I was forced to take the cake because it was two hours before the party. The 15 year old boy working at the shop said there was nothing he could do and all this was after he brought out the WRONG cake the first time. Take a look at the photos and judge for yourself. This shop is unprofessional and I ended up spending $50 on this cake and then making a trip to the grocery store to get a presentable looking cake for a 40th birthday party!

I love all the bread here. They have the best bolillos, I get the jalapeno and crean cheese filled ones. I'm love how you can get a dozen conchas and 7 others breads for just over $10! they are way tasty and are a good size. I used to go to the panaderia on opal street but they are so rude and over priced.

This is a very simple cake to make and this is how they gave it to me!

(: We were very grateful for that. I got the Italian Grinder with no red onions and substituted the ham for turkey. I chose the pasta salad as my side, and the sandwich also came with some kind of vinaigrette. The flavors were good, but I think the bread started to come apart near the end, and I personally wish the red peppers had more of a pickled aspect! I also got the Lemon Cheesecake Bar (?), which was yummy, but it does have nuts on top. I think a crumble topping would be even better instead. (: The inside feels a bit dated, but the employees definitely seemed to be keeping it clean. As customers came and went, they cleared the dirty tables pretty quickly. Overall, I'd give this place a 4/5, but 5 stars for the accommodation. :)

I came in at sort of an odd hour for lunch so the place was pretty chill and not too busy. Service style is fast casual where you order at the counter and find a seat. The place has a feel of having been there for a long time with large wood booths or separators. I ordered the grilled pastrami and Swiss sandwich and got it with their potato salad. The pastrami was griddled and has an old school flavor and style with some nice crunch from the sourdough. A great sandwich overall! Parking in the neighborhood wasn't too hard to find along the street and even if you need to park a block or two away, the neighborhood is nice to walk through.
