Guava and cream cheese pastry and sweet bread
    Christabel F.

Visited this bakery for the first time - I had some trouble finding it based on the map directions but ended up driving around the building to one of the other sides. The shop is very small but the person working was super friendly and kind! I tried a guava and cream cheese pastry and one of the traditional bread rolls they had. Both were very tasty! Would definitely consider going back again

Very cute little Guatemalan bakery with delicious pastries and the nicest owner. They occasionally have delicious tamales and I was lucky enough to grab one yesterday. I didn't get any pictures this time but will for sure be back. Highly recommend getting their corn cake. It's basically a corn butter mochi. Fantastic chewy texture without being rubbery.

This is very small bakery and new to the area. The oven is right behind the counter and always baking fresh bread. The selections are small but you can expect them to be fresh.

Criollas Pastries makes authentic handmade pastries from South America -- I highly recommend trying…read morethem! My wife found Criollas on Facebook. She's from Peru and she had cravings for some of her favorite childhood pastries, especially Alfajores. We ordered 3 kinds of pastries for a New Year's party. It was my first time trying all of them. They were GREAT! The sweet style pastries are quite a bit different from some of the traditional European-style pastries that we're all familiar with. Paola, the owner, is super friendly and charming. I had a blast talking to her when we picked up our order. She sells her pastries at several farmer's markets around the metro. She also delivers and caters special events. Finally, you can place an order on-line or over the phone and pick it up at her house. Paola operates the business out of her personal house on Gerard Avenue South in Minneapolis. So DON'T just show up at her front door unannounced. But she'll definitely schedule pickups at her house if it's convenient for you. Also, if you do a Google search, her address might come up in White Bear Lake. This is a commercial kitchen (not open to the public) where she makes all of her goodies. She's totally legal with all of the correct licensing, public health training, etc. I grilled her about this when first ordered from her...and she's good-to-go. My only (minor) gripe is her pastries are a little pricey. We got 3 dozen items (12 beef Empanadas and 24 sweet pastries) for $64.00. It was supposed to be $70. But we got a 6 dollar discount (50 cents each) because we wanted the Empanadas uncooked so we could cook them ourselves at our party. If you don't mind spending a little more money on something new, I highly recommend that you try them. You can call, e-mail, or message Paola...or find her at one of the farmer's markets in the summer. Try some Criollas Pastries -- yum!!! -Daddy Maxx Retro P.S. I wasn't sure exactly how to categorize Criollas so picked Latin American Restaurant -- Bakery -- Pop Up Restaurant.

Delicious tacos! I had the BISTEC A LA MEXICANA from their lunch menu and loved my meal, especially the black beans and corn tortillas. The salsas were excellent and tasted so fresh and delicious.

Love the murals on the walls celebrating the Minnesotan culture and icons. The service is always great, and the servers always have a good menu recommendation if you're unsure what to get. The bar has delicious drinks and their Jamaica juice is so refreshing on a hot summer day. Happy hour is a nice discount on some favorite items. I will say anything with shredded chicken isn't my favorite (not enough seasoning on the chicken for my taste) but everything else we've tried is a hit! We always start off with the chips and salsa flight and add cheese sauce - it's NOT a queso, there's no peppers or spice. The creamy green sauce is our favorite salsa they make, it's delicious on everything. The torta is a great choice if you're unsure what to get, the pineapple bowl is awesome if you're trying to share with others. Tacos and burritos are always a hit - I love the crunch of the pork belly and the flavor of the al pastor, taco toppings are onion and cilantro unless you get the loaded taco with slaw. The burrito could probably feed two people with an appetizer. It's a little higher priced than your typical plate of tacos but the quality of the food is always top notch, the kitchen is open and clean, and I've never left hungry or without leftovers. I will note - if you're looking for "traditional" Mexican food this probably isn't the spot you're looking for. It's still delicious just slightly different than what you'd get at your typical taqueria.
